Go City - Sorry this is late had to go and watch the game brilliant result and fair few naps in the evening meeting, that I obviously wasn't going to miss the start for.
Slow day only 18 bets and 4 winners a spectacular 1-8 winner for Steve Walton to get off the mark and this surely signals a new approach from him, odds on, and at Wolverhampton! Both the leaders from yesterday's opening day had a winner again Eamon Kelly his 2nd 100-30 winner in a row, to go top, and Julian Ciampioli at 8-15. Other winner was Robert Baker at 7-2 to go 3rd
All quiet in the plate

My winning nap was 15-8 in the morning paper went off 2-5 but Kissed will win the Oaks - you heard it hear first!
Nice start for the plate regulars who played today with three of them getting a 10 point maximum.

I have to do the admin and a month off even seemed a long time away to me!

Grand Failure
Very mixed feelings after that, one month after the Gold Cup and the winner is killed! Hard to know what to think, thoroughbreds are bred to race so no racing then no thoroughbreds - but most of us have sort of moved on from pastimes that involve killing animals for pleasure.
The debate continues
As Vince said earlier also how many times did Daryl Jacob use his whip after the last, not seen anything about that yet

A Grand Opportunity
And it is knocking very loud - Synchronised drifting out to 9-1 with some bookies paying first 6 - 9-4 to finish in the top 6 when it just won the Gold Cup.
Let's be honest now the jumps are easier it is much less of a lottery and Synchronised is well in even as top weight in what is really just a long distance ordinary handicap nowadays!
I'm on

Big Racing History
Remember this day when a new best ever winning steak was set by Big Bucks at Aintree - we will never see this again (well until he actually loses a race that is).
Hope we are all refreshed and fully 'chocolated up' and raring to go on competition #31 which starts 2 weeks Sunday

31mar12 Its all over
At a good afternoon racing at Stratford we saw a couple last minute 25-1 shots come home for Eamon Kelly and Trevor James but they were not enough to stop Paul Berg and Barry Pemble both claiming their deserved victories. Eamon Kelly 25-1 winner lifted him to 3rd to win £300 and Trevor James lept to 11th with his but unfortunately that's the first non paying spot. Only 13 of us finished with a positive return shows how tricky this game is - or is it just us!
Barry Pemble secured the plate with an emphatic 10 point winner over in Eire to win the £200 1st prize by a comfortable 14 points after the others failed to score.
Watch blog for details of next comp and the photos update from the prize giving yesterday
