8 winners from 39 bets today topped by Mark Sharman's 8-1 winner to arrive on the leader board. Other winners of note were Bert Peart 100-30 to go back into positive territory, Dave Fifield who picked his second 5-1 winner in a row, 5 more Dave and you'll be on the leaderboard :-).
In the plate Steve Walton made some more progress as he picked up another 5 points and Justin Sercombe only managed a 1 point 3rd. Rod Brown in 5th picked up 10 points to close in on me in 4th (the last cash paying spot) after my winner was only a 3 pointer.

Vince's superdouble
So two of Vince Paige's favourites running today Confessional in the first at Newcastle (best price 14-1 Stan James) & Crackentorp 3.20 Newcastle 20-1 (best price Stan James again, 888 & Blue Square) so at those prices that's a 314-1 double.
We are going to need to back this as well to help us endure Vince going on about it for the rest of the comp :-)

29jun12 loads of winners
A world record for this comp 11 winners from 39 bets, highlights were Ian Carpenter 5-1 to move 5th, Eamon Kelly 7-4 to go 4th and best performance by Jake Fifield 7-1 winner to shoot back up to 2nd just £1.53 off the lead.
In the plate Steve Walton made a little progress picking up 5 points while Kevin Wood missed out and Justin Sercombe sat out again.
CORRECTION Steve Walton's winner was only a 3 pointer (6 runners not 8) - thanks Steve

28jun12 Thursday Late
Just 4 winners yesterday and a big one 18-1 for Mark Quinn nice pick but lucky for us he has been rubbish so far so that just moves him to mid table :-), other winners were Julian Ciampioli 11-4, Jimmy McGarrity 6-1, & Scott Bennett 6-4.
Leaders all sat out in the plate, well except me, and my nap was rubbish sorry if any of you listened to the "tip" below clearly it's win at Pontefract was either a fluke or did some damage!

One to watch
Look out for Intense Pink today in the 3.40 Warwick (listed race) had a tip for this at Ascot last week that it would finish in the frame at 66-1 - it ran in the Coronation Stakes reasonably well but didn't frame. 12-1 best price today so good each way price and ground has moved in her favour.
This is my nap today and my bid for #1 spot.
Update will be late, if at all, tonight as I'm at an event in London all evening - Sue becomes President of the Landscape Institute, I'm her driver :-)

27jun12 busy day
9 winners from a busy 38 bets but surprisingly my 3-1 winner was the best of the day, lots of 9-4 8-11 and even a 2-5. Winner for Kevin Wood again saw him extend his lead and also become the first player to be guaranteed to be up, just opening a bit of a gap at the head of the leader board. My winner saw me move up a place to 5th.
In the plate all of the top 4 had winners but Kevin Wood & Justin Sercombe's were 10 pointers so that saw Justin Sercombe improve to now 21 points ahead of Steve Walton who has 3 bets in hand.

26jun12 Go Andy Go!
8 winners today from 35 bets, nothing very stunning odds wise best was only 11-4 by Jon Curtis and Gary Cawsey others were a mixture of shorter odds 4-9, 6-4 8-11 etc.
In the plate definite swing towards Justin Sercombe after both he and Kevin Wood hit a 10 point winner for the 2nd day in a row all hotting up as we move into the final 1/3rd of the comp.

25jun12 Oh Well
At least they have won one major championship in my lifetime - feel sorry for you youngsters you may never see one!
Very slow day only 25 bets and 5 of them were forced losers, obviously everyone too upset to look at the sports pages. The winners were nonetheless Andy Wilson 6-1 to go 11th and only £3.73 from a cash spot, good recovery, Ian Carpenter 5-6, Justin Sercombe 2-1, Mark Nutting 5-6 & Mark Sharman 5-1 to go 13th only £4.23 from cash.
In the plate we got a new leader after Justin Sercombe's nice 10 pointer. He has had 2 more bets than Steve Walton but sits 6 points ahead, Kevin Wood with 4 in hand and 24 points back is 3rd. So maybe it is just about Steve Walton that shades it as favourite. Ian Carpenter also making a bid for the cash it looks like, 10 bets in hand over me and 36 points behind so that's also close, I had better get a move on.
Just off to take the England flag down :-(

24jun12 Getting nervous?
Poor racing and a performance to match, best of the day only a miserly 9-4 for me and Gary Pascoe the only others were Alan Mabb 2-1 and Michael Brook 85-40 that was from 31 bets. My winner did lift me from 8th to 6th.
Steve Walton maintained a lead but trimmed slightly after his horse fell and Justin Sercombe & Kevin Wood could only pick up 2 points a piece.
Excel on its way now, nice and early ready for the build up :-)

23jun12 England progress
Oops a day early!
Another pretty difficult day on Saturday only 5 winners and two of them were Black Caviar at 1-6 (Steve Walton & Ian Carpenter). Others were best of the day Vince Paige on the very impressive Simenon at 11-4, with Gary and Mark Dighton both on the same 5-2 winner at Newmarket. So that brought Gary Dighton back into the cash positions otherwise all the top 8 had losers.
In the plate Steve Walton's 5 points helped at the top and it brought up a 5 timer, Rod continued to slightly catch me up in 4th as I failed to score for the third day in a row.
Danny Beaman & Lee Constable both went dormy today

22jun12 bubbles galore
Slightly big on the Champers yesterday but very good day only disappointment was Homecoming Queen who was so bad despite the soft going the 1000g win in May is looking like a bit of a fluke now.
Friday saw 6 winners from 39 bets, top 3 in the plate & Martin Long all did the same 7-4 winner, others were Rod Brown 7-2 and the best of the day 9-2 for Adam Slater. So none of the leader boards altered much.
Here's to watching Black Caviar today expecting him to look as good as Frankel did on Tuesday.

21jun12 another tough one
But not for Kevin Wood star turn of the day with a 10 point 6-1 winner to leap from 4th to first spot, nice one. The other few winners were Gary Cawsey 4-1, Rod Brown 13-8, and Gary Pascoe with the best price of the day 17-2 to go positive and sit in 20th spot but only £7.98 away from cash. Mark Sharman mentioned today he was keen to beat Paul Berg (I imagine Paul has hardly mentioned his win in comp #31 has he!) however a quick look at the table should put Mark's mind at rest Paul sits 45th :-).
Steve Walton did well again by sitting out, Justin Sercombe failed to score again but Kevin Wood's 10 point winner probably was more worrying although he does still sit 15points off the lead with now only 2 bets in hand.

20jun12 tough day
Only 5 winners from 42 bets on what always looked like a very difficult day. Highlight was very clearly the 3 guys who all picked Prince of Johanne at 16-1 they were Kevin Dighton to move onto the bubble, Jon Curtis and Mark Sharman. Other winners were both on the 4-5 shot Ian Carpenter & Gary Dighton.
Steve Walton had a good day in the plate by sitting out and seeing Justin Sercombe and Kevin Wood both fail to score.

19jun12 Absolutely Brilliant
Clearly talking about Frankel and not England! What a performance in my view even more stunning than the run in the 2011 2000 guineas and there were 5 G1 winners behind him just 0.6 seconds short of the Ascot record in good to soft going, I will have to go to Sandown now if he runs in the Eclipse but will he try 10f or is that too far?
Busiest day of the comp so far 41 bets and 7 winners, two on Frankel at 1-10 Steve Walton & Ian Carpenter, 3 on Dawn Approach at 7-2, (what price is he already for 2013 2000 guineas after that), they were Justin Sercombe, me & Jimmy McGarrity. Best of the day went to Annette Berg making a pretty good bid to keep the cup at the Berg's home with a 9-1 winner to go 13th but on +£6.50, one decent winner from the lead really - no pressure Annette :-). Lastly a 7-4 winner for Kevin Hall.
In the plate Steve Walton's choice to bank a certain 5 points on Frankel let Justin Sercombe close the gap to just one point after his 10 point winner. Long way to go but quite a gap between last cash paying spot and 5th maybe close to having our top 4 sorted apart from perhaps Eamon Kelly who is 43 points behind with 8 bets in hand or Ian Carpenter 45 points behind with 10 bets in hand.
So that's Sunday sorted, glad the England game is now not going to clash with my Saturday trip to Royal Ascot to see Black Caviar run in the Diamond Jubilee Stakes.

18jun12 go England again!
9 winners from 31 bets today, best were Mark Nutting 7-1 to back to 10th, Mark Dighton his second 15-2 winner in 3 bets to go 11th, Scott Bennett his 2nd winner a nice 8-1 but still sits in the bottom half.
In the plate Steve Walton & Justin Sercombe both picked the same 4-7 10 point winner to improve their position as Kevin Wood sat out.
Gary Cawsey went dormy today after another non runner

17jun12 Hey! sun is back
Standard day 8 winners from 27 bets, best of the day were Bert Peart & Paul Berg's 7-1 winner but both still a way back from the leaderboard. Others included Eamon Kelly with a nice 7-2 winner to go 4th after a week away. Julian Micklethwaite 11-4 to go cumulatively up,
Pat Quinn's 7-2, Martin Long his 9-4 winner brought up a double and 3 in 4 days, I managed an 11-8 winner to go back into the cash in 8th and finally Dave Fifield 9-2.
In the plate I was the only player and so no changes
Ross Harvey went dormy today
16jun12 new leader
Paul Evans takes over at the top after his 5-2 winner on Saturday only by 45p so hardly decisive! Best of the day was Vince Paige with a 10-1 winner which lifted him from the depths to approaching mid table, also winners from Tom Feeney who brought up a 4 timer with a 7-2 shot to move to 3rd place. Among the other winners was Gary Cawsey who brought up a treble so having gone 18 without a winner he is since then 3 from 3.
In the plate Justin Sercombe took over from Kevin Wood in 2nd place but despite sitting 3rd Kevin Wood is really in the best spot among the 3 leaders as he has 3 bets in hand on them both.
Mark Dighton & Mark Sharman both went dormy Saturday

14jun12 ready for the big night Friday?
8 winners today three of them among the the leaderboard, they were the leader Jake Fifield 11-10, holding off Paul Evans in 2nd with a 11-4 winner & Tom Feeney with his 11-10 winner in 4th.
In the plate top two failed to score and Justin Sercombe had a non runner so that left my 1 point 3rd as the only point won on the leaderboard!

13jun12 Mahut has a new fan
7 winners today from 34 bets best was the absolutely on fire Andy Wilson with a 5-1 winner to go 7th other were Justin Sercombe & me with a 3-1 winner Steve Walton at 2-9 Julian Micklethwaite 6-4 Michael Brook brought up a treble with a nice 7-2 winner to go 11th and Mark Dighton stopped the rot picking up his 2nd winner of the comp.
In the plate Steve Walton drew 5 points clear again after Kevin Wood missed out and Justin & me both collected 10 points to consolidate in 3rd & 4th respectively.

12jun12 AT LAST
Sunday 4 winners - 25 bets
Monday 10 winners - 29 bets
Tuesday 7 winners 30 bets
Clearly too many to go through but nothing spectacular from anyone, clearly of note was Kevin Wood's two winners both 10 pointers so he has gone 2nd in the main comp and 2nd on number of winners count back only in the plate. Andy Wilson kept up the good work now the dormy pressure is on with a 6-1 winner to go 10th on +£7.50. Michael Brook moved up to 12th after a double 5-2 & 4-1 took him to +£5.13.
In the plate the joint leaders can't quite shake off Justin Sercombe in 3rd although he has had 1 bet more than Steve Walton and 3 more than Kevin Wood
Nice start England - looks might we might be getting a bit harder to beat.

10jun12 complete cock-up
CORRECTED VERSION - sorry Justin
By me! Been away for the weekend in Surrey and left my laptop behind there! So no excel update until I get it back on Tuesday - sending a courier to collect it tomorrow, sorry everyone.
But anyway only 4 winners today and they were:
Kevin Wood, Justin Sercombe & Kevin Dighton all 4-1 & 10 points
Eamon Kelly 2-1 & 5 points
The tables over do not reflect these yet they are after Saturday's results only

09jun12 Go Denmark!
Just 4 winners on Saturday from a busy 35 bet day - best was me with a 5-1 winner to go back to 9th, other winners were Paul Evans 4-1 to move 3rd, Jed Parramore 7-2, and Andy Wilson, shocked back into action after getting the first forced loser on Friday, came back in with a 4-1 winner to go 12th on +£3.50.
In the plate the top 3 sat out and so my 5 point winner was the only score and that lifted me into 4th the last cash paying position.

In the plate a bad day for Steve Walton who sat out and saw both 2nd & 3rd scored 10 points to close in on him. My 3rd second place in a row today at least scored 5 points to bring me to with one point of cash with two bets in hand.

Rio - go away
That's the polite version!
Manager can pick who he likes for football reasons or not
Lucky to have got as many caps as he has he is too old & slow now and only in the Man U team because Ferguson has got some sort of sentimental team selection policy with Scoles, Giggs and Rio.
We have to look to the future - lets add up all the trophy's England won with Rio in the team

03jun12 long live the republic
A very miserly 3 winners today and the best of the was evens (Jake Fifield & me) with the only other winner Steve Walton at 3-10! So very little to report really except the very impressive tactics switch from Jake Fifield looks like he might be tough to reign back in. Only 22 bets today as there were so many non runners and I expect all of you were glued to the royal barge flotilla :-)

7 winners today and the stand out winner was Mark Nutting 12-1 to go +£13.50 and 7th place. Jake Fifield switched straight onto a new (and correct) tactic after the 25-1 winner yesterday and slotted in a consolidating 8-11 winner.
In the plate only Steve Walton collected any points so stretched his lead by 5

In the plate Steve has finally for the moment shaken off Justin Sercombe who is now 3rd 13 points behind but with just 1 bet in hand. The danger remains Kevin Wood in 2nd 4 bets in hand and just 10 points adrift
