31dec15 HNY

So everyone on the leader board had a last day of the year loser except Pat Quinn Jnr and Michael Brook who both sat out, so rarely not a single change in order on the leader board.  There were 6 winners again and they were, Maurice Edgington 4-5,  Pete Long & Gary Dighton both 11-8, Barry Pemble & Stuart Bentham both 1-2, and a best of the day for  Kevin Roberts 11-4 that takes him positive on  +£1.13 and 19th spot.

Stuart Bentham eased 4 points clear at the top of the plate after his winner and Vince could only manage 4th for a single point.

Happy New Year and a prosperous 2016 - not sure if I'm at Chelters tomorrow will decide when I see the weather.

Wednesday, 30 December 2015

30dec15 tight at the top

Just 1p in it at the top after Mark Nutting scored with a 4-1 winner, one of 6 winners today.  Taking top spot was Paul Berg with a 7-1 winner others were Dave Kingsbury 6-4, Helen Fahey 6-1, Mark Quinn 3-1, & Tim Catlin 9-2.

Tuesday, 29 December 2015

29dec15 6 of the best

Carl Dean stormed back up to 12th after a great 14-1 winner to clearly best of the day, others were Andy Stevens 11-4 to go back on the leader board, Jason McConkey 10-11, Steve Carter 11-8, finally Tom McGarrity & Richard Pascoe both picked 15-8 winner which was enough to take Richard to the top of the leader board.

In the plate everyone except Justin & Stuart picked the same horse that got beaten into 2nd and just 5 points - not sure if that was basically quits across the board

28dec15 nice winners

two of the last 3 to score this comp both got off the mark with nice winners Jake Fifield 16-1 to take best of the day and to move to 11th spot and Jon Curtis 8-1 top move off the bottom, that just leaves rather surprisingly a past winner Martin Long as the only person yet to score!  Other winners were Maurice Edgington 4-6,  Gary Pascoe & Jason McConkey both 9-4, & finally a nice winner for Kevin Roberts 8-1 to go 38p up and 21st spot.

Paul Mott went dormy and has had the first forced loser of the comp

Monday, 28 December 2015

27dec15 nice day

Dual best of the day at 7-1 and 10 points for Steve Carter & Chris Pascoe, Tim Catlin 9-2, Mark Sharman 8-11 were the only other two winners

Saturday, 26 December 2015

Boxing Day Drama

7 of us on The Don who fell at the second last after a strange run but with a slight hint of coming back at the leaders, what might have been!

Just 5 winners today and a new leader, Dave Klein with a nice 7-2 winner to go top but that wasn't the best of the day Colin Warmington went positive to sit 18th with a 7-1 winner.  The other were Justin Sercombe & Kevin Wood 13-8 and 10 points and finally 1-4 winner Faugheen for, yes of course, Ian Carpenter nicely consolidating in 12th.

KING GEORGE VI

Don Cossack - need I say more and judging by the early naps entries already today so do most of you also think this is the winner.

Tuesday, 22 December 2015

22dec15 HAPPY XMAS ALL

6 winners best of the day 9-4 for Steve Carter and all the other 5 were the plate lads on the same 8-13 winner for 10 points - they were Stuart Bentham, Vince Paige, Chris Pascoe, Justin Sercombe & Dave Kingsbury

21dec15 4 winners

Dave Klein took 2nd spot just 13p behind with his joint best of the day 7-1 winner, the other was Tom Feeney, Helen Fahey 15-8, and Andy Grinter 11-4 were the remaining two.

Sunday, 20 December 2015

20dec15 Another tough day

Just 4 winners and the standout was for Pat Quinn Jnr languishing near the foot of the leader board and now 13th after a 16-1 winner.  Gary Pascoe & Dave Klein both picked the same 4-1 winner and that was enough to send Dave 3rd.  Leaving just Ben Cheetham as the only other winner, he now sits 5th after his 11th winner came in at 7-2.  Worthy of a small mention is Paul Stobbart 22 bets and brought up his 10th 2nd place today - unlucky!

Not much movement in the plate after all the fancied horses at Thurles got turned over.

Saturday, 19 December 2015

19dec15 Another 5

Dead heat winners today in the last at Ascot Michael Brook 7-1 and Nigel Clifford 9-1 and they both get full odds - see rule #17 on the excel tab.  But beating them both was the defending champion who finally got off the mark after 21 failed attempts with a 20-1 winner to move from last to 26th.  The other winners were Stuart Bentham 1-3 and another from the consistent Jason McConkey who is steadily reeling in the leader with another 2-1 winner today.

Stuart Bentham took over in the plate after disaster for most of the others (Vince, Chris P, Barry & Kevin W) when their Mullins/Walsh, even money shot, "cert" fell at the last when leading :-)

18dec15 hand full

So just 5 winners today and the stand out best of the day was 11-1 for Tim Catlin to move 7th, Ian Carpenter 1-3, Jason McConkey 2-1 to move 2nd, Ben Cheetham 7-4 and Paul Stobbart 100-30 were the other 4 winners.

No change in the order in the plate again today but most sat out

Friday, 18 December 2015

17dec15 7 days to go

To Xmas of course!

8 winners today topped by Steve Carter 6-1 to go 7th, Ian Carpenter 4-11, Paul Mott got of the mark with a 5-4 winner, Gary Dighton & Jimmy McGarrity both had 5-2 winners that brought up a treble for Jimmy and took Gary onto the leader board.  Vince Paige, Stuart Bentham & Barry Pemble all had the same 8-11 winner for 5 points each but the order remained unchanged at the top of the plate.

Thursday, 17 December 2015

16dec15 Mark storms in again

Mark Nutting headed a massive load of winners today with the best of the day 12-1 to move back 2nd, 12 other winners and it's late!

Suffice to say Vince has taken over at the top of the plate taking over from Stuart who loses first place for the first time this comp.

Tuesday, 15 December 2015

15dec15 Ooh! only 3

Andy Stevens takes the best of the day with a 11-2 winner to move 7th, the only other two winners were Justin Sercombe 10-11 who made it a 6 timer & Steve Carter 9-2 to move onto the leader board after he brought up 8 from 10 winners including the corrected winner from yesterday that I missed - sorry Steve, those two winners also put him back on the plate leader board but not really in contention as he has had loads more bets than most.

Monday, 14 December 2015

14dec15 Leicester City again!!

8 winners today Gary Dighton got off the mark with joint best of the day 5-1 to go straight onto the leader board and Ben Cheetham the other joint best to go 6th.  Vince Paige, Chris Pascoe & Justin Sercombe all 1-3, Barry Pemble 1-2, Stuart Bentham 8-15, Rod Brown 9-4,

As all the leaders had 5 point winners in the plate today the only move was Justin moving above Kevin Wood who sat out.

Sunday, 13 December 2015

13dec15 Plenty again today

9 winners today from 29 bets, Ben Cheetham & Tom McGarrity both 5-4, Gary Pascoe & Vince Paige both 7-4 and 10 points, Jimmy McGarrity best of the day 11-4, Kevin Dighton 6-4 to maintain his place on the leader board, Mark Sharman 9-4, and finally Pete Long and Steve Carter both 7-4.

Good weekend for Vince in the plate as he moved into 2nd and within 4 points of the never yet headed leader, but Justin only 19 points behind with 4 games in hand.

12dec15 Wow!

So the 15 winners were

Village Vic 8-1, Pete Long, Dave Kingsbury, Ian Carpenter, Jason McConkey, Mark Sharman, Nigel Clifford.

Minstrels Gallery 4-1, Andy Stevens, Gary Pascoe, Natasha Tizzano, Ray Harper, Spenser Mills.

Lake Field 7-4, Chris Pascoe, Justin Sercombe, Kevin Wood, Vince Paige

Well done all of you!

Friday, 11 December 2015

11dec15 busy day

Nice card at Cheltenham and we are all playing 38 bets today but just 5 winners they were joint best of the day Annette Berg & Rod Brown at 4-1, Ben Cheetham brought up 4 winners in the last 5 with his 100-30 winner to go 8th, Helen Fahey 11-4, and finally a nice 10 point winner for Steve Carter who brought up 5 winners in the last 6 but still 12p down but moved onto the plate leader board

Thursday, 10 December 2015

10dec15 Biggie again

Dave Klein leaps to 2nd with a v nice 25-1 winner Mark Quinn stopped the rot after his nice start was followed up by 12 losers he popped a small 9-4 winner.  6 of the usuals picked the now favourite for the Supreme Novices Min at 4-11 in Ireland they were Vince Paige, Stuart Bentham, Steve Carter, Barry Pemble, Chris Pascoe & Justin Sercombe leaving the only other winner as Carl Dean at 5-2.

So a few of the Plate favourites moving through to the leading pack but still well behind the pace setter Stuart Bentham who refuses to be reeled in and leads by 22 points.

Wednesday, 9 December 2015

09dec15 hand full

5 winners and joint best of the day at 8-1 for Jason McConkey & Pat Quinn Jnr, Andy Grinter moved to 2nd with his 4-1 winner, Ben Cheetham brought up a treble with a 2-1 winner, and finally Stam Moore at 5-2 to move 8th.

Tuesday, 8 December 2015

08dec15 Impressive tally today

None more so than Tim Catlin's best of the day 20-1 winner one of a total of 9 winners.  Nigel Clifford opened up his account with a very nice 12-1 winner to go 9th and a third as well as these two who broke their duck was Tom Feeney 2-1.  Ian Carpenter & Steve Carter both had a 1-6 winner, Justin Sercombe & Tom McGarrity 7-4 winners Ben Cheetham brought up a quick fire double with his 9-2 shot today to move onto both leader boards & finally Tommy Smith 5-1 to go into 13th.

A good day considering only 27 played

Monday, 7 December 2015

07dec15 Almost stationary

Well no one played at all at the top of the plate a sign of the standard of racing on offer today!

There were 4 winners Michael Brook moved up a place to 4th with his 11-4 winner, Steve Carter 1-4, Dave Kingsbury 1-7 made minuscule progress, leaving Ben Cheetham to claim best of the day with a 4-1 winner to sit still a little negative in 24th spot

Sunday, 6 December 2015

06dec15 nice pickings in Ireland

9 winners today and they were all at Punchestown! Best by far was Kevin Dighton 8-1 to move into 4th spot.  6 of us all picked the impressive Yorkhill that won at 8-15 for 10 points we were Maurice Edgington, Stuart Bentham, Barry Pemble, Kevin Wood, Justin Sercombe & Vince Paige - which of course you could have all guessed!  Two were more brave and went for Oscar Sam at 6-4 and 10 points they were Gary Pascoe & Pete Long who both got off the mark with that winner.

Excel will be issued tonight and prizes are now confirmed as we have deleted the 3 who said they were playing but haven't paid - details on the front page of the excel

As we have earned a few £'s in interest over the last couple of years even after the engraving and shipping of the cup, we can afford to have an extra £50 prize this comp so £2,650 of total prize money for the 52 runners.

Saturday, 5 December 2015

05dec15 Two Whoppers

Yes two people actually picked the winner of the Becher Handicap at 20-1 i have to say I reviewed the possibles for that and never got to the one that one it but well done to Richard Pascoe and Andy Grinter who now take 1st & 2nd respectively.

6 other winner apart from them Paul Berg 6-1 was the best to just sneak positive on +25p and that's 17th place.  Jason McConkey arrived in 5th spot on the leader board after his 5-1 winner. Ian carpenter followed him onto the leader board as well with his 2-1 winner to go 10th.  Tom McGarrity nudged up a bit with a 5-6 winner and there were a couple of short priced winners Dave Klein 5-2 & Steve Carter 6-5

04dec15 slow

Usual Friday evening diversions - Sorry!

Annette Berg, Jason McConkey, Lee Constable & Paul Stobbart all had a 100-30 winner and there were 4 others Kevin Wood, Chris Pascoe, & Stuart Bentham all picked the right 10 point winner in Ireland at 6-4 and Ian Carpenter pitched in with a small 10-11 winner as well.  so all change at the top of the plate

Thursday, 3 December 2015

03dec15 slow day

Just 4 winners today after Clonmel was abandoned caused a few non runners.  The best of the day was Stan Moore at 100-30 to move 7th and Michael Brook the same to go 3rd, Andy Stevens picked his 3rd winner in 4 days to go 5th, and finally Carl Dean 1-2.

All quiet in the plate after Clonmel was lost

Wednesday, 2 December 2015

02dec15 standard fare

6 winners from busiest day so far 35 bets, Best of the day was Andy Stevens again with another 9-2 winner, Dave Kingsbury 2-1, Ian Carpenter & Kevin Roberts both 6-4, Steve Carter & Tom McGarrity both 8-11.

In the plate the 1-4 runner that got turned over by a short head cost me , Vince Barry and Stuart points but luckily both Richard Pascoe and Kevin Wood had losers!

Tuesday, 1 December 2015

01dec15 first monster winner

For Mark Nutting and I bet he was as surprised as we were 12-1 in the paper opened at 20-1 and won at 25-1 so obviously he leaps to top spot.  There were 5 other winners from a total of 24 bets today the other winners were Ben Cheetham, Paul Berg & Natasha Tizzano all 5-4, Carl Dean 11-10, Michael Brook 6-1 to move nicely into 5th.

Only Stuart Bentham of the leader board in the plate played today and he lost his 100% record as Mozo was beaten into 2nd place - still clear at the top though.

Monday, 30 November 2015

30nov15 poor day

Poor in terms of rubbish racing so well done for the 6 people who found a winner.  Top winner was Andy Stevens 9-2 to go 12th, others were Dave Kingsbury 9-4, Richard Pascoe stretched clear at the top with a 7-2 winner, Steve Carter 4-6, Spenser Mills 11-4 to go 11th and finally Tom McGarrity 2-1 to go 5 from 7 and sit on both leader boards!

Sunday, 29 November 2015

29nov15 standard fare

27 bets today with 7 winners, top dog was Jason McConkey who got off the mark with a 7-2 winner, Barry Pemble, Steve Carter & Tommy Smith all picked up the same 2-1 winner Maurice Edgington & Kevin Roberts a surprisingly good priced 13-8 and finally Tom McGarrity 4-5 to move 7th.

In the plate Stuart Bentham, the leader, sat out and with no one catching a 10 point winner he still sits 11 points clear of me in 2nd.

Saturday, 28 November 2015

28nov15 Kahunas!

Picking up yesterday's theme it was in fact me who proved the lack of Kahunas theory by selecting Smad Place and even telling Paul Berg who was on course I had, then failed to nap it instead picked some supposed favourite who drift to 11-2 and finished last!

Anyway enough tales of woe 7 winners from 38 bets, best of the day was Kevin Dighton 5-1 to go 4th, a couple picked Nambour at 1-4 at Fairyhouse, Kevin Wood & Stuart Bentham who now sits 6 from 6 - nice start.  Andy Grinter started with a 4-6 winner to move straight to 10th, Dave Barker consolidated in 3rd with a 1-5 winner.  The final two saw Kevin Roberts pick a 5-4 winner & our leader, Richard Pascoe, bring up a four timer with his 5-4 winner certainly setting the pace.

South Africa

UK racing fans welcome our SA visitors entries for this comp still open Rand accepted - but at a really bad rate :-)

For an explanation of what we are doing here see the foot of this page

27nov15 bit harder

Busiest day so far and the lowest number of winners just 5.  Joint best of the day was Stan Moore off the mark with a stupendously easy winner at 4-1, alongside him was Dave Barker, different horse, but also 4-1 to consolidate in 3rd. Others were Ben Cheetham who brought up his 2nd winner at 15-8 to scrape onto the leader board, Michael Brook kicked off his campaign with a 2-1 winner and finally Richard Pascoe our leader brought up a treble to move a little clear at the top.

Most of the plate boys sat out but with loads of 16+ runner races at Fairyhouse tomorrow expect them back - I'm obviously assuming none of them have the kahunas to nap in the Hennessy!

Thursday, 26 November 2015

26nov15 Plate boys are off

31 bets today and 11 winners but oh so predictable of us, 4 on the 1-5 novice hurdler at Thurles, Barry Pemble, Vince Paige, Justin Sercombe & Kevin Wood, 3 of us on the 1-4 novice chaser at the same course, Maurice Edgington Stuart Bentham, (now 5 from 5) & Chris Pascoe and another 3 on the 8-11 winner at Taunton, Ian Carpenter, Tom McGarrity & Carl Dean so that just leaves our new leader with the best of the day 5-2 enough to move top.  See all we need is some totally uncompetitive novice races to bring everyone out to play

Kevin wants £10 @ 1000-1 on himself for the plate anyone willing to lay that :-)

Wednesday, 25 November 2015

25nov15 nice day

29 bets and 9 winners 4 of them were the very easy 4-9 winner, Maurice Edgington, Vince Paige, Stuart Bentham, & Barry Pemble, Joanne Hutson got off the mark with a 3-1 winner Dave Barker had best of the day 4-1 went 2 from 2 and went 3rd so a good day for him.  The other winners were Helen Fahey who also got off the mark with a 7-4 winner, Mark Sharman 100-30 and Tom McGarrity 11-8 to move one spot above dad!

The Plate Racecard!

So lets have a little speculate about the runners and riders in the plate:

Vince Paige (11-10f) the 9 time winner has said he is going for it again this time started poorly, but can anyone really stop him getting his 10th win.
Justin Sercombe (7-4) two times in a row winner surely will try and defend especially now he has moved to 2nd in the all time winner list on 5 wins (above Ian Carpenter), Vince didn't really play last comp but he beat him fair and square in the spring, yet to start in this one.
Barry Pemble (11-4) 3 time winner, pretty much always does well in this back after a summer break! so must be a strong runner 2 for 2 so far so started well.
Stuart Bentham (4-1) clearly going for it in these early stages given he is 4 from 4 with a best price 8-11, but can he keep up the pace?  Has only won the plate once in December 2011 (#29).
Ian Carpenter (6-1) 4 time winner but nothing since #23 in august 2009, definite possible!
Kevin Wood, (15-2) strong contender last time but only ever won it once in December 2009
Maurice Edgington (12-1), never won it and finished on the bubble 3 times in a row - I'm not a definite runner yet, not decided, I had a better comp last time not messing about with the plate missed cash by one place after being overtaken on the last day!
Chris Pascoe & Kevin Roberts, (both 14-1) both cashed last time and strong players in the main comp good each way bets here but with a full field and only 5 spots paying will there be space
Terry Matthews (20-1) has cashed this year but tailed off in 17th place in the last comp will he be trying?
Martin Long, (20-1) one time contender but pretty much leaves it alone now (last won it in April 08 #19), depends on whether he has the incentive of a side bet with Vince if he plays so may refuse to start!
Pete Long (33-1) - 5th in the summer comp must have been a fluke, - surely that was a career best run :-)
66-1 bar - surely the winner has to come from those above, Gary Dighton has won it twice and plays again this time but never featured under the modern scoring system.
Kevin Dighton currently trading at 1000-1 on the exchanges often goes over the first in the lead and then we never see him again, but been running under rules for ages and "every dog has his day"
One to watch - Tom McGarrity first time runner this comp, knows his stuff, just depends on whether he has managed to side step enough of the genes on the sire's side!

Tuesday, 24 November 2015

24nov15 new best price

7 winners today from a still low entry total of only 19 other than the outstanding 12-1 winner for Richard Pascoe the best price was only 5-2 so no fanfare for those six winners who were Tom McGarrity in his first ever bet, Tommy Smith, Ian Carpenter, and bringing up a 2 from 2 double were both Natasha Tizzano and Mark Quinn and going one better was Stuart Bentham with 3 from 3 still all less than evens but a winner's a winner :-)

Monday, 23 November 2015

Day 2 correction

Omission discovered (proves the value of checking blog!) and it was a big winner Mark Quinn 11-1 to obviously go top - sorry

23nov15 Day 2

24 bets 5 winners four of them all 2-1 they were new boy Ben Cheetham, Dave Barker, Dave Klein, & Natasha Tizzano, the other winner was Stuart Bentham who goes 2 for 2 with a 8-11 shot which means he takes over at the top of the plate.

Now up to 50 paid players with still 6 who have said yes but not yet paid - still got a shot at the biggest comp ever!

Sunday, 22 November 2015

22nov15 Day one results

Overall a fair start 15 bets and 7 winners, Jimmy McGarrity finds himself top after the best of the day 9-2 winner, closely followed by Mark Sharman 100-30, Paul Stobbart 11-4, the remaining 4 were all odd on and they were Barry Pemble, Maurice Edgington (me), Stuart Bentham & Terry Matthews.

So 5 of those 7 winners are therefore joint top of the plate Barry & Terry who were on the same horse can feel a bit hard done by as 16 went to post but one got withdrawn at the start and so that cost them both 5 points

Will send out the excel more of a test then of any meaning clearly!

one more

Another one already - welcome Stan Moore and good luck

CHELTENHAM FESTIVAL 2016

They have changed the early bird ticket discounts this year the cut off is now 24th October about 2 months earlier than before

Might be worth getting some booked if you are not a member - I may try and do all 4 this year!

Monday, 14 September 2015

14sep15 its all over

Well a good day for the Pascoe clan! Richard had a 25-1 winner which moved him just onto the foot of the leader board, Gary had a 12-1 winner which didn't really help! and Chris ignored the main comp and made sure of some cash and even a small profit by securing 5 points with his 8-11 winner and taking 3rd place in the plate by a point.  The only other winner was 9-1 for Paul Stobbart enough said below on that winner!

Well done to Roger Dore 2nd win in the last 3 comps and joins a growing list of dual winners, and Justin Sercombe goes a clear 2nd in the all time list of plate winners on 5 still 4 behind Vince who has won it 9 times.  Justin's final total of 189 is is 24 less than the previous lowest total and 120 points lower than the best ever - looks like a determined effort next time by someone could secure that cash, maybe if we can tempt Stuart Bentham and Barry Pemble back things will hot up.

Sorry there were so many non runners which sort of ruined the excitement for some as I didn't allow the replacements as they all arrived after the cut off, need to think if we need a new rule :-)

Maurice

FINAL OUTCOME

Chris Pascoe's winner secured 3rd place for him in the plate and pushed Kevin Roberts to 4th Pete Finished on the bubble.

Paul Stobbart's winner was just enough to capture 9th place from me forcing me down in 10th and the bubble for me as well - bollocks!

Everyone else basically stayed where they were

Vince will sort cash soon and I will issue final excel ASAP

Well done everyone

13sep15 last day tomorrow

Just 2 winners on this penultimate day Justin Sercombe best of the day 8-1 winner to move up to 4th and well in touch well at least with Pete Long in 3rd place.  The other winner was Adam Slater 2-1 who is now close enough if good enough, just needs a 100-30+ winner to take top spot if Roger Dore doesn't find a winner.

In the plate 3rd and 4th are still up for grabs with any combination of two of Pete Long, Kevin Roberts & Chris Pascoe able to fill those last two remaining cash spots - clearly Kevin is in pole position as the other have to at least find a 5 point winner to catch him.  Interesting that Justin can't reach 200 points now and so this will be the lowest winner total ever under the new points system we have never before been less than 200!

Excel on it's way - good luck tomorrow sorry I can't be there at Stratford & remember nap must be in or before the last race at Stratford.

12sep15 2 days to go

Just a couple of winners today and clearly the outstanding one was Adam Slater's 9-2 winner to retake 2nd spot from Pete Long who sat out.  The only other was the best of the day 12-1 for Lee Constable which moves him to the foot of the leader board but some way from cash.

In the plate Chris Pascoe's single point proved enough to retake 4th from Pete Long who now sits on the bubble.  They are level on points but Chris takes it on number of winners count back 28 to Pete's 20.

Bad day for Pete! still being away in Sardinia on holiday should help a bit!

11sep15 a big one

Justin having confirmed his win in the plate yesterday popped straight in with a 20-1 winner to move into the cash on the main leader board in 5th, another winner of significance if only for me was Carl Dean who just as i would have overtaken him with my 7-4 winner found an 11-2 shot to keep me in my place as I expect he sees it :-), the only other winner was Ian Carpenter same horse as me 7-4 winner.

In the plate Chris Pascoe failed to score so Pete Long's 2 points were enough to take him back into the last cash paying position

10sep15 Congratulations

First lets start with congratulations to Justin Sercombe for successfully defending his title in the plate his 7-4 10 point winner clinched it today.  Ian Carpenter also picked the same horse to move 6th in the plate but with just 3 bets left and 31 points behind Pete Long in 5th that is the best he can do. Although I think he believes he can catch me in the main comp - dream on Ian!

There were 7 winners in total the other 5 were Jade Edgington fed up with not picking a winner reverted to a 2-9 shot, Helen Fahey a nice tactical bet securing a 4-6 winner to sit nicely in 4th clear now of those below her, Pete Long 5-2 captured 2nd but to no avail in his bid to catch Roger Dore who pretty much kept his lead with a 2-1 winner and finally Chris Pascoe another 4-6 winner to sit poised in 13th but is rapidly running out of time to make a big move.

Thursday, 10 September 2015

09sep15 3 more

Best of the day was Ian Carpenter 8-1 to move positive and up into 12th place Chris Pascoe picked up a 10-11 winner and Pat Quinn Snr an 11-4 shot.

LEADERS SELECTIONS

Hi, sorry no post for this today just getting on a plane and all of the leaders selections are not in and posting just some of them before the close would give unfair advantage

Should be back tomorrow

Tuesday, 8 September 2015

08sep15 Another 3 timer

Two winners of significance and mine!  Best of the day 16-1 for Jason McConkey now 28th, The leader, Roger Dore, might have sown up the whole thing with his 6-1 winner today to go nicely clear and in the position that even if he has 5 losers to finish those below him have to still pick a winner to overtake him and then there was me with my 1-6 winner to maintain 8th!

Strangely priced 12-5 winner for Jason McConkey was the best of the day with the only others to trouble the scorers Chris Pascoe & me with our 8-15 winner - that's 10 winners in the last 13 bets for me!

06sep15 Couple of nice winners

16-1 topped the 4 winners today for Dave Klein to move into contention for the cash positions in 15th and he is immediately followed by Ian Carpenter in 16th after his 11-1 winner.  My policy of making sure I don't get a loser is working with my 2-11 winner today but not sure i'm making sufficient progress!  The final winner was perhaps the most significant 6-1 for Roger Dore to move him top, Roger won the last but one comp so a leader to be respected.

None of the top 6 in the plate managed to register a point!

Saturday, 5 September 2015

05sep15 Slow day again

Just 4 winners and one of them was my 1-5 winner, the other 3 were Chris Pascoe 11-10, best of the day 10-1 for Tim Catlin but as that was only his 3rd winner still a long way from troubling the leaders, and finally Adam Slater's even money winner which was just enough as Pete Long's lost to scrape back the overall lead by just 22p

04sep15 standard stuff

Three winners best of the day Terry Matthews 7-2 to go back positive, Justin Sercombe 2-7, and Andy Slater 3-1 to close up in second at the top.

Thursday, 3 September 2015

03sep15 handfull

Best of the day was a very impressive 8-1 for Kevin Wood in an 18 runner for 10 points so that's 5th in the main comp and 2nd in the plate - good shot!  The other 4 winners were Mark Sharman 5-2 to move back into the cash, the leader Pete Long a nice consolidating 11-8 winner, Terry Matthews & Tommy Smith both 11-4.

02sep15 Late

Just 2 winners on Wednesday Helen Fahey best of the day 3-1 & Roger Dore 2-1 which was enough for him to go 2nd

Tuesday, 1 September 2015

01sep15 5 timer

That is a five timer for Justin Sercombe with his 8-13 winner and also a 5 timer for me with my even money winner.  Chris Pascoe also slotted a 8-13 winner in to move up a spot or two best of the day was Paul Stobbart 5-1 to move 13th and finally Roger Dore's 11-8 winner moved him pretty close to Adam Slater in 2nd although Adam has had 2 more bets than him.

Monday, 31 August 2015

31aug15 Nice & Easy

Nice update to complete and easy to do - just one winner today and it was me! 4-5 enough said

Sunday, 30 August 2015

30aug15 Another 7

A few nice winners again, 7 in total who were Andy Grinter, Michael Brook & Jimmy McGarrity all 5-2, Chris Pascoe 8-11, Justin Sercombe 4-6 and 10 points which surely pretty much sews up the plate, Roger Dore best of the day 8-1 which zooms him back up to 3rd spot and finally our esteemed leader popped in another winner at 13-8, he is starting to look like he's moving away from the field - but has he gone too early!

28aug15 quickly

Just 6 winners Alan Daniels and Rod Brown both 15-2, Me and Helen Fahey (who moves 3rd) 4-5, Mark Sharman joint best of the day 10-1 to move into the cash in 9th and finally Andy Grinter 10-1 to move into the top half.

Friday, 28 August 2015

28aug15 Magnificent 7

Well OK 7 - best of the day was for Jimmy McGarrity 4-1 to move him to 13th, 3 guys all picked the same 10-11 10 pointer they were Justin Sercombe, Ian Carpenter and Kevin Wood, I managed to consolidate on yesterday with a 2-1 winner to go 10th, leaving the final 2 as Carl Dean 9-4 to move 6th and Helen Fahey also 2-1 to consolidate 4th spot.

Justin Sercombe's inexorable rise through the leader board reached its natural conclusion as the defending champion took over at the top 4 points clear 6 games in hand - impressive

Thursday, 27 August 2015

27aug15 Very Rare event

That's me having a best of the day and it being 14-1!  That took me 12th and positive for the first time on the leader board this comp, other winners were Alan Daniels again still making progress from a last place a few days ago this time with an 8-1 winner.  The final 2 of the 4 winners today were Lee Constable 13-8 and our leader Peter Long at 8-11 nice consolidation bet to stretch his lead to £2.77

26aug15 Well now by £1.04

Yes Pete Long former winner in comp # 27 January 2011 tops the table now by £1.04 as he sat out and Adam Slater had another loser, Pete has only had 46 bets to Adam's 49 so pretty even I would say.  Overall today there were just 4 winners Matt Harrison 5-1 to move 12th, Alan Daniels another winner now he is playing and best of the day at 11-2, Justin Sercombe a 5 point plate winner at 2-9 and Chris Pascoe 10-11 to move 10th.

Tuesday, 25 August 2015

24Aug15 Jessica rules

Good day for the home team with Jade Edgington taking best of the day 17-2 winner to move to just 23p off the leader board and back above me who also managed a rare double with an 8-11 winner.  In total there were 6 winners so the other 4 were Chris Pascoe again 5-6 and 8 winner from the past 10 bets, Dave Kingsbury 7-1 to move to 22nd, Ian Carpenter 7-4 and Michael Brook 8-1.

Monday, 24 August 2015

23aug15 Big Winner

Spenser Mills' search for a big winner paid off today as he bagged a 25-1 winner to move just 55p short of the leader board.  There were 4 other winners Chris Pascoe 4-6, Maurice Edgington 8-13, Roger Dore a very handy 9-2 to move 4th and 6-4 for Mark Sharman.

Sunday, 23 August 2015

Days 3 & 4

Good time to skip a day on the updates as there were only 5 winners across the final two days of the Ebor meeting and really the only one to shout about was Micky Jenner his 9-1 winner on Friday zoomed him up to 6th place.  The other 4 across the two days were Vince Paige finding a moment on his Med cruise to select a 5-6 winner, Carl Dean 11-8, Chris Pascoe kept up the good work, now he is dormy, with a 8-15 winner on Friday which was 6 from the previous 7, & finally Andy Grinter took the Saturday best of the day with his 7-1 winner but not enough to move him out of the bottom half.

Jay Lewis completed his selections on Saturday (except for the final day bet) and ended +£3.47, currently 10th but I confidently expect him to drift upwards over the next 20+ days good performance and should get him cash.

Friday, 21 August 2015

20aug15 Day 2

A bit more success today with a total of 8 winners who were Alan Daniels 5-2, Adam Slater & Helen Fahey both 11-4 that brought up a 4 timer for Helen, Jay Lewis 11-10 and finally all with the same 2-1 and 10 point winner Chris Pascoe, Kevin Roberts, Kevin Wood & Justin Sercombe, leaving Pete Long who sat out the big loser at the top of the plate slipping to 4th place

Thursday, 20 August 2015

19aug15 Ebor mtg day 1

Just 5 winners Adam Slater took best of the day with a 4-1 winner whihc moved him from 3rd to take over at the top, three of us were all very fortunate to see Storm The Stars at 3-1 keep the race we were Helen Fahey, Maurice Edgington & Dave Klein, the other winner was Jay Lewis at 1-4.

Wednesday, 19 August 2015

Vince - are you reading this while away?

18aug15 York is here

Well not for Tuesday's results which saw Tim Catlin record best of the day 9-1 with just his 2nd winner of the campaign another player finally getting going was Alan Daniels who got off the mark with a 10-11 winner and although he has long been dormy not too late to get involved.  There were 7 winners in total and the other 5 were Rod Brown & Gary Pascoe both 4-1, Paul Stobbart 6-4, Chris Pascoe & Carl Dean both 11-10.

Tuesday, 18 August 2015

17aug15 Big Winner

Monday saw the first big winner for some while Danny Beaman 16-1 which was enough to bring him back to the leader board in 16th.  There were 4 other winners Tommy Smith 4-1, Matt Harrison 7-2 to move him up to 11th, Helen Fahey 6-4 and Chris Pascoe brought up a treble went positive and moved to 13th with a 4-6 winner.

Kevin Wood took over in 2nd from Pete Long but as he had had 2 more bets and is only 3 clear then Pete should recapture that fairly easily

Excel is on its way albeit a day late

16aug15 interim update

7 winners on Sunday:

Vince Paige, Kevin Wood, Kevin Roberts, Jay Lewis, Ian Carpenter, Helen Fahey, & Chris Pascoe

Sunday, 16 August 2015

15aug15 Just another 3

Pete Long takes top spot again with his best of the day 4-1 winner, which was enough to take him 2nd and closing down on the leader, other winners were Chris Pascoe 6-4, and Jimmy McGarrity 5-2.

Saturday, 15 August 2015

14aug15 just 3

Best of the day for a so far quiet Martin Long bringing up a double at 8-1, others were Matt Harrison 15-8 & Richard Pascoe 4-1 and that's it!

Friday, 14 August 2015

13aug15 double day

6 winners Wednesday 3 of them gained in the stewards room as Vince Paige, Kevin Wood & Paul Stobbart all got a 6-1 10 pointer, others were Jimmy McGarrity & Dave Kingsbury & Adam Slater all 5-2,

4 winners Thursday Helen Fahey 7-2, Justin Sercombe 10-11, Martin Long 3-1 & Mark Sharman 1--2 and best of the day.

Three players gone dormy over the past 2 days, Kevin Dighton, Paul Mott & Andy Grinter.

Tuesday, 11 August 2015

11aug15 nothing special

6 winners and again all pretty ordinary Jade Edgington & Ian Carpenter both 4-11, Michael Brook & Chris Pascoe both 3-1, the leader Kevin Roberts picked up his 16th winner at 2-1 to move nicely clear, best of the day was Dave Kingsbury 4-1 but still down in the bottom half.

10aug15 Fore

Best of the day for Danny Beaman today after a long barren spell he pops in a 5-1 winner, Justin impressively picked up a 7-2 winner in a 16 runner event to get 10 points as well so moves 3rd in the plate and 11th on the main leader board.  Other winners were Lee Constable 9-2 to move positive and into 12th and Carl Dean 11-4 to move back up into double figures and 5th spot.

Monday, 10 August 2015

09aug15 Just 3

And they were Pete Long joint best of the day 3-1 to move 3rd, and Adam Slater 3-1 to stay ahead of Pete in 2nd, the only other winner was  Tommy Smith 11-8.

Excel on its way

Sunday, 9 August 2015

08aug15 BPL starts at last

7 winners for us and nothing of note.  Jade & Maurice Edgington both 1-3, Terry Matthews 7-2 and best of the day, Justin Sercombe 4-11, Ian Carpenter & Chris Pascoe both 4-9, Dave Kingsbury 100-30

Saturday, 8 August 2015

07aug15 Exciting news

Me, yes Maurice Edgington, actually had a winner and it was the best of the day 9-2!! - still not quite enough to put me in the top half but slowly creeping up.  6 other winners and they were Tom Feeney 2-5, Rod Brown 4-6, Paul Stobbart 7-4, Pete Long 4-6 just enough to move 3rd, Lee Constable 9-4 and onto the leader board, Justin Sercombe 4-6.

Thursday, 6 August 2015

06aug15 Double update

6 winners Wednesday & 7 on Thursday so here goes!

Wednesday: Pete Long 100-30, Vince Paige & Matt Harrison both 11-2, Natasha Tizzano 7-2, Micky Jenner 9-2, & best of the day Lee Constable 6-1

Thursday:  Tom Feeney 1-2, Rod Brown 7-4, Natasha Tizzano 3-1 bringing up the two day double and taking best of the day today, Kevin Roberts 15-8, Carl Dean 11-4, Justin Sercombe 11-4, Jason McConkey 7-4.

Tuesday, 4 August 2015

04aug15 Step Inside

4 winners today and a long way clear in the best of the day comp was Terry Matthews with his 7-1 winner to move 8th.  Others were Ian Carpenter 1-3, Justin Sercombe 10 points and 5-4, & Tom Feeney 10-11.

03aug15 I don't like Monday's

6 winners today topped by Jimmy McGarrity at 8-1 but not quite good enough to get on the leader board, others were Jade Edgington 5-6, Gary Dighton 7-4, Carl Dean 11-4, Pat Quinn Snr 3-1, & Rod Brown 5-4.

Pete Long's 2 point second place was enough to lift him to 2nd in the plate and with 3 and 9 games in hand over 3rd and 4th respectively that is looking pretty secure at the moment.  I suppose with 9 games in hand over the leader for only a 37 point deficit you might have to consider Justin Sercombe in pole position for the win though.

Sunday, 2 August 2015

02aug15 and then there was 1

Steve Carter 15-8 was all we could manage today!

Excel on its way

01aug15 sorry I'm late

Got a bit pissed last night so couldn't finish it!

Not much to report just two people had a winner the same 6-1 shot Mark Sharman to move to 11th and Jimmy McGarrity.

Friday, 31 July 2015

31jul15 Coming Home

6 winners 10 points each for Pete Long & Kevin Wood for their 5-2 winner but Kevin Roberts just managed to stay ahead in the plate with his own 5 point 8-13 shot.  Best of the day was Helen Fahey with 9-2 enough to move her to 5th, the other two were Ian Carpenter 9-4 & Rod Brown 13-8

30jul15 Hot Here

6 winners today Natasha Tizzano & Maurice Edgington 11-8, Carl Dean 6-4, Gary Pascoe 9-2, Micky Jenner 6-1 and best of the day to go 5th, Kevin Wood 5-2 & 10 points to go 2nd in the plate,

Thursday, 30 July 2015

29jul15 RIP Sir Peter

The voice of my racing youth leaves us I suppose 97 would be something we would all settle for!

7 winners today with a resounding best of the day at 14-1 for Tommy Smith to move him up to 7th, Carl Dean 9-2, Maurice Edgington 4-1, Justin Sercombe & Kevin Roberts 5-4 and 10 points which brings Justin to the leader board and sends Kevin clear at the top.  The final 2 were on the same 2-5 winner and they were Chris Pascoe & Natasha Tizzano.

Tuesday, 28 July 2015

28jul15 tough one

Well it looks that way as only 2 of us managed a winner they were Matt Harrison 8-1 to zoom back onto the leader board and Mark Sharman 9-4 who followed him back among the leaders

27jul15 Class will tell

Last times Champ messing about for the first 30+ bets, went dormy last week, but bangs in his first winner, best of the day 11-1, to go back level and on the leader board!  Other winners 10 points and 5-1 for Justin Sercombe who continues his climb up plate table and now sits 10th after 25 points from the last 4 - he was just toying with them he has only had 18 bets and is now for my mind the leader.  Jay Lewis 11-8 to consolidate 4th, Kevin Wood 5-1 and 10 points to sit poised in 5th and finally Micky Jenner also 5-1 to move up to 7th on the main table and in the cash.

Sunday, 26 July 2015

26jul15 only 4

Best of the day was Jason McConkey today with a late in the day 5-1 winner to lift him from the foot of the table, other winners were Maurice Edgington (me) 7-4, Dave Kingsbury 8-15 and the leader with a nice consolidation 4-9 winner.

25jul15 Another handfull

Joint best of the day for Pete Long & Mark Sharman both picking the 7-1 winner of the big Ascot Handicap (favourite counts as a runner - RP has it just shown as left at the start).  That 10 point winner, the 2nd in as many days, took Pete 2nd in the plate and 5th overall, it was also enough to get Mark Sharman onto the foot of the leader board.  Chris Pascoe & Dave Kingsbury both had the same 11-10 winner leaving Justin Sercombe 11-2 and 10 points the only other winner.

Saturday, 25 July 2015

24jul15 Nice Winner

For Micky Jenner 12-1 to move him into the last cash spot in 9th.  Five others also scored they were Chris Pascoe 7-4, Justin Sercombe 8-15, Kevin Wood 5-2, Natasha Tizzano 5-2 to move 12th, and finally Steve Carter 5-2.

Slight suggestion for those guys at the top of the plate that the big guys might be eyeing up the prize with Kevin Wood & Justin Sercombe last comps champ both picking winners and Vince Paige isn;t far away either - watch out :-)

Thursday, 23 July 2015

23jul15 easy?

Certainly looked like it with 12 winners including me which given my record so far is definitely a sign that the winners were pickable!  Best of the day was Kevin Roberts 6-1 not quite enough to take over at the top.  Pete Long's 5-1 winner and 10 points meant good progress on both leader boards, others were Tom Feeney 8-13, Roger Dore 2-1, Helen Fahey 100-30, Rod Brown 9-4, Me 6-5, Jason McConkey 9-4, Jade Edgington 7-2, Jay Lewis 5-4, Dave Kingsbury 7-4, and finally our leader Adam Slater to hold on by just 23p to top spot with a 4-5 winner.

22jul15 A hand full today

Topped by Jay Lewis and his 5-1 winner which didn't move him up the table surprisingly but certainly got him into the mix with the leaders.  The others were Tom Feeney 13-8, Pat Quinn Snr 4-1, Natasha Tizzano 2-1, again that's 4 winners from the past 7, and finally Danny Beaman 100-30.

Wednesday, 22 July 2015

21jul15 another 3

They were Terry Matthews 11-4 to rise to 5th, Roger Dore 5-1 best of the day and enough to go 2nd and Pete Long 4-1 to move 10th

Monday, 20 July 2015

20jul15 just 3

Yes only 3 winners but a we have a new leader who takes over from long time leader Kevin Roberts, Adam Slater's 11-1 winner took him nicely clear.  Roger Dore  9-2 winner was enough to take him 3rd, the other winner was Rod Brown at 11-4.

19jul15 Weekend's results

Not many winner but the only story in town was Carl Dean's 28-1 winner in the big handicap at Newbury on Saturday, which he followed up with a 4-9 winner Sunday to move from almost bottom to 7th.  The only other winner on Saturday was Helen Fahey 8-1 to move her 6th.

We did a bit better on Sunday with 7 winners, Ian Carpenter 2-1, Justin Sercombe 4-9, Martin Long, Natasha Tizzano, Paul Stobbart & Spenser Mills all on the same co-best of the day 7-2 winner.

Normal play now resumed after Lords trip!

Friday, 17 July 2015

17jul15 18 today

That's my eldest not me!

Just 5 winners today 7-2 was best of the day for Jay Lewis which was just enough to take him 2nd overall, 100-30 for both Kevin Wood & Vince Paige, Gary Dighton 6-4,  & Roger Dore 15-8.

No update tomorrow will be delayed until Sunday as I'm away watching the England recovery at Lords and staying over, so don't panic!

Thursday, 16 July 2015

16jul15 wow g'day Aus

Well played 650 for them 650 for us draw!

6 winners for us today Helen Fahey & me both 7-4, Chris Pascoe 4-5, Michael Brook 9-4, Paul Stobbart 2-1, and best of the day with just a 5-2 winner was Steve Carter.  Leader sat out again and that's 7 days in a row and no one has managed to make any progress everyone has fallen back leaving him now £7+ clear.

Andy Stevens picked up his first forced loser

Wednesday, 15 July 2015

15jul15 very ordinary

6 winners today Kevin Wood 11-10 and 10 points to return to the plate leader board, Natasha Tizzano & Tommy Smith both 5-4, Rod Brown 5-2, Tom Feeney 11-4 and best of the day, Terry Matthews 4-6 was ll of the days action.

Andy Stevens went dormy today at the earliest possible day! - still to have his first bet but he's paid :-)

14jul15 another 7

Topped today by Dave Klein's 10-1 winner to move him up to 5th.  Others were Adam Slater 2-1 to close up on the leader who has sat out for a few days, Gary Dighton & Richard Pascoe both 5-2, Natasha Tizzano 2-5, Roger Dore 6-1 to move 3rd and to threaten the top 2 and finally Vince Paige 8-13.

Monday, 13 July 2015

13jul15 Where is everyone?

Just 14 bets today but 4 winners Gary Pascoe 3-1, Mark Sharman 11-4, Tommy Smith 8-11, & Terry Matthews best of the day 5-1.

That's all folks!

12jul15 short prices

Looks like a few decided that a winner at any price would do to "stop the rot" so a fair few short priced winners Justin Sercombe, last comps plate winner, finally got off the mark with a 4-11 winner the same one as Jay Lewis, Maurice Edgington (me) 9-4, Steve Carter 2-5, & Carl Dean 4-6. Not for Ian Carpenter who moved up a fair few places with his 11-2 winner but still not good enough for the best of the day spot which went to Roger Dore to move 5th with a 10-1 winner

11jul15 Magnificent 7

Well not really!  Best of the day was for Tommy smith at 7-1 which just about moved him onto the leader board.  Others were Tom Feeney 4-7, Paul Stobbart 4-1, Pat Quinn Snr 11-2,  Kevin Wood & Jay Lewis both 6-4, finally Helen Fahey brought up a double and moved into a cash paying position with a 3-1 winner.

10jul15 Some V Nice Winners!

6 winners on Friday topped out by Paul Mott at 14-1 to move nicely into 4th, 2 players had the same 17-2 winner Kevin Dighton (to move 12th) and Helen Fahey (to move 15th), Paul Berg brought up a treble with a 7-1 winner to move 6th, Rod Brown 2-1 and Jay Lewis 4-9 were the other two winners

09jul15 must have been tough today

Only 3 winners today looked like lots of fancied horses got turned over mine certainly ran like a dog after being backed into favourite! The winners were Paul Berg 9-4 and best of the day,  Kevin Roberts our leader 11-10 and Dave Klein 8-11.

Wednesday, 8 July 2015

08jul15 steady day

7 winners Chris Pascoe & Ian Carpenter both 8-11, Dave Kingsbury 11-8 and Kevin Roberts both 11-8, Micky Jenner best of the day 13-2 to go 8th, Paul Berg 7-2, & Ray Harper got off the mark with a 4-1 winner.

Tuesday, 7 July 2015

07jul15 All on his own

Spenser Mills the only winner today a nice 7-1 shot but still not good enough to trouble the leader board after his uncharacteristic slow start.

06jul15 nice winner

For Vince this time 10-1 and 10 points only his 2nd winner of the comp but moves into contention for cash now sitting on the bubble.  Other winners were Matt Harrison 7-2 to go 5th, Micky Jenner 11-4, Pete Long brought up a treble with a 5-4 winner and sits 6th and finally Roger Dore 11-2 to go 9th.

Sunday, 5 July 2015

05jul15 KR back on top

5 winners today the outstanding one was Jay Lewis 8-1 to close right up on the top 2, Chris Pascoe 5-4, Kevin Roberts & Pete Long 11-10 and 10 points, to move them 1st and 3rd in the plate respectively.  Finally last of the 5 was Matt Harrison 7-4.

Two players still to bet come on Alan Daniels and Andy Stevens!

04jul15 Oh Say Can You See

Just 6 winners today Ian Carpenter went safe and picked the Eclipse winner at 4-9 but enough to put him in the top 20.  Pete Long continued his good streak and moved into the cash with a 3-1 winner and onto the plate leader board.  Best of the day was Andy Grinter who bought up a double and went onto the leader board for the first time with a 7-1 winner,  Jimmy McGarrity and Adam Slater both picking the same 5-1 winner that was enough to take Adam 1p ahead of Kevin Roberts in top spot both on 15 bets.

03jul15 nearly independant!

To make sure those players close to the leader board action know where they are I'm going to extend the main leader board to the top 20 from now on.

So 7 winners today with best of the day trophy going to Richard Pascoe with a very nice 8-1 winner to go 9th.  Both Andy Grinter (who got of the mark) and Micky Jenner had 5-1 winners, Helen Fahey & Jade Edgington had 11-4 winners and another pair Gary Kelly & Paul Mott had 9-2 winners.

Thursday, 2 July 2015

02jul15 even more winners

11 today none too dramatic Ian Carpenter 8-11, Jay Lewis 3-1, Jason McConkey 4-5, Kevin Roberts 6-4, Kevin Wood 8-11, Mickey Jenner best of the day and off the mark with a 7-2 winner.  Five more were Natasha Tizzano off the mark with a 3-1 winner, Paul Berg, Paul Stobbart & Pete Long all 9-4, Tommy Smith 5-6.

01jul15 Loads of Winners

Well 10 to be precise the Pascoe clan were on the same 11-2 winner that's Gary, Richard & Gary Dighton so they were co-best of the day, Gary Kelly 7-4, Michael Brook 9-2, Matt Harrison 2-1, Martin Long 3-1, Mark Sharman 4-1, & Pat Quinn Snr 3-1, Paul Stobbart 2-1, made up the rest.

So these winners saw wholesale change at the bottom half of the leader board with almost a whole swap out of the old lot.

Wednesday, 1 July 2015

30jun15 back later today

7 winners on Tuesday and the best for the second day running was Tommy Smith at 9-2 which takes him positive and just off the leader board.  Other winners were Helen Fahey 11-4, Gary Pascoe & Jay Lewis both 4-7, Kevin Roberts 8-15, Michael Brook 15-8 & Pat Quinn Snr 9-4 to move back exactly level.

In the plate Kevin's winner nudged him back second ahead of Terry Matthews.

29jun15 late

People keep picking stuff in the last in evening meetings so hence so late

Just 5 winners on Monday on a slow day, joint best of the day at 9-2 were Jade Edgington and Tommy Smith, Adam Slater notched up his 7th winner with a 15-8 shot to move within £2 of the leader as they both continue to slug it out at the top.  Other winners were Chris Pascoe at 4-7 to go 4 from 5 and move onto the leader board in 11th and Jay Lewis 10-11.

28jun15 Spain

Away for a couple of days in Spain with Sue so might be some delays.

Sunday saw 6 winners best of the day was 3-1 for Dave Kingsbury and on Saturday the best was Terry Matthews 15-2 to go 3rd

Friday, 26 June 2015

26jun15 7 up!

7 winners best of the day was Mark Sharman who got off the mark with a 15-2 winner, others were Matt Harrison who brought up a 4 timer with a 6-4 winner, Kevin Wood 5-2, Jay Lewis evens, Gary Pascoe off the mark with a 3-1 shot, and Adam Slater again 11-4.  Oops forgot Rod Brown who picked a 100-30 winner in the 9.20 on a Friday night nearly said I didn't get it on time :-)

Thursday, 25 June 2015

25jun15 Just 4

Yep that's all but some nice ones Kevin Roberts hit his 2nd big winner of the comp at 10-1 to move clear at the top and take the best of the day title.  Pete Long hit a very nice 7-1 winner to move back onto the leader board, the others were Matt Harrison 6-4 and Steve Carter 7-4.

24jun15 U21 :-(

5 winners on Wednesday Dave Klein 13-2 was the best and saw him onto the leader board pretty early in his first comp. The other 4 were Michael Brook 100-30, Pat Quin Snr & Tom Feeney both 5-1, Matt Harrison 11-4.

Tuesday, 23 June 2015

23jun15 who didn't get a winner!

Easier to go through that list today! 12 winners from just 32 bets.  So picking just a few of the highlights best of the day was a fine 16-1 winner for Jay Lewis to move 3rd, Jon Curtis 4-1 in his first bet to go straight onto the leader board, Matt Harrison 100-30, and  Gary Kelly 4-1 also both got off the mark.

Monday, 22 June 2015

Justin Sercombe
Lee Constable
Ray Harper

22jun15 Unstoppable

Adam Slater, the leader, is on fire 6 bets 4 winners and 2 seconds after his 9-4 winner today, great stuff.  8 winners overall best of the day is the very consistent Roger Dore now back in at 4th after his 10-1 winner in the last at Windsor. Vince Paige also got off the mark with a 5-1 winner to make the foot of the leader board for the first time this comp.   Carl Dean, Colin Warmington & Pat Quinn Snr all got off the mark on the same 7-4 winner, Dave Kingsbury 2-1 and Rod Brown 9-4 were the final 2.

The reigning Champion begins his defence of his crown tomorrow - look out :-)

Sunday, 21 June 2015

21jun15 End of first week

5 winners today the best of which was 7-2 for Tom Feeney that took him onto both leader boards, Martin Long got off the mark with a 4-7 winner, Paul Stobbart 2-1, Rod Brown 9-4,  Michael Brook 100-30, were the other 3 winners.

For those of you who are first timers the update excel gets sent out now this will come from Vince tomorrow for just this week as he constructs the distribution list there after expect to receive it Sunday evenings.

Windsor Pictures

The slide show now has a selection of pictures from the Windsor get together on 8th June - always takes a while for the system to find them but they are there now.

20jun15 Ascot over

And thank God everything I looked at got turned over!  But not the same yesterday for Terry Matthews with a 10-1 winner to zoom into 3rd and the only other winner was the same 7-4 for Kevin Wood, Ian Carpenter & Jason McConkey

Hey early days

Friday, 19 June 2015

19jun15 Well Done Ryan

Best of the day for us was Kevin Wood who got of the mark with a nice 6-1 winner and 10 points.  Jimmy McGarrity arrived on the leader board after his 3-1 winner as did Dave Klein with a similar priced winner, Kevin Roberts regained the lead with a 4-5 winner, Steve Carter 3-1 and Tom Feeney 4-1 were the other winners.

Looks like you have to be called Kevin to get on the plate leader board!

Thursday, 18 June 2015

18jun15 at last nothing big

8 winners today loads on Time Test at 15-8 including the leader Adam Slater, Ian Carpenter, Jay Lewis, Jimmy McGarrity & Spenser Mills.  The remaining 3 were Danny Beaman best of the day 9-2, Dave Kingsbury 7-4, and Kevin Roberts 4-5.

Wednesday, 17 June 2015

17jun15 Day 2 stolen as well

This time by Adam Slater 2 from 2 and a 14-1 winner in the opener at Royal Ascot to go top.  There were just 3 other winners Pete Long & Tim Catlin both 5-2 on Free Eagle who was pretty lucky to hold on and Danny Beaman 4-1.

So we have a pretty rare event Pete Long on both leader boards! - won't last :-)

Tuesday, 16 June 2015

16jun15 Day 1

and no doubt who stole it that was Kevin Roberts with his 16-1 winner Kevin Dighton started well with a nice 5-1 winner which really we should have all been on Mullins with Moore up! 4 people picked the 11-8 winner in the opener Jade Edgington, Adam Slater, Dave Kingsbury & Paul Stobbart leaving me (Maurice Edgington) as the only other winner at 8-15

AND WERE OFF

46 paid players for this one with just Andy Vinall to decide (Vince sorting today)

Good luck everyone - especially me :-)

Comp #39 update

Just waiting for decisions from Andy Vinall, Colin Warmington, John Hall & Mark Sharman and whether they are joining us if they do we will be 47 which is pretty good.

Nice to get to 50 if we could ask around!

Friday, 12 June 2015

stuff!

Lee's win was the 7th lowest total ever to be the winning score at just £23.24, and the lowest for 10 years basically since my last win which was March 2005!

We are waiting for about 8 people to reply and if they all say yes we would be at 48 entrants maybe not quite enough in the pool to hold to the £1,000 top prize but lets see.

We already have 4 new boys joining us

So comp #39 will start next Tuesday first day of Royal Ascot

Tuesday, 9 June 2015

Final day action

4 winners on the final day which is surprisingly good and the stand outs were of course the 2, 25-1 winners the same horse for Jay Lewis who captured 7th and Gary Dighton who just made the cash in 10th place.  So that was pretty unlucky for Kevin Wood who finished on the bubble by 18p and Spenser Mills who ended up 12th.  The other two winners were Matt Harrison 7-2 enough to lift him to joint 3rd  (see rule #28 no countback if a tie), and Pat Quinn Snr 12-1 enough to lift him to 95p above Pat Quinn in 14th spot

Freezing at Windsor and the seafood bar was closed - but good turn out and good times.

The general view among the attendees was that we should do a summer competition and that needs to start next week so will send out email - we will still do an autumn comp so if you want a break don;t worry about it we can run a small one for the summer.

Lee Constable wins

Full update will follow but very little change in the leader board on the last day

Sunday, 7 June 2015

07jun15 Penultimate day

Just 3 winners 10-1 for Paul Stobbart to put him in the top 20, 7-2 for Terry Matthews to consolidate his 8th spot and the only other winner was Adam Slater 3-1 to move him onto the bubble in 11th.

See you all tomorrow and good luck to those with anything left to play for!

The Derby

Not saying this will win it but I think Moheet is well worth taking a look at today - I took 50-1 NRNB yesterday but generally now 33-1.  Reasonable run in the Craven at HQ as his first run of the season and then in the 1000g finished 8th but if you read the race commentary mess up stall exit jockey lost an iron for 2f got banged into 1f out and was still running on - I count that as good form so roughly 10-1 to finish in the first 3 looks the best value bet on offer.

My finishing order is:

    1.  Golden Horn
    2.  Moheet
    3.  Hans Holbein

05jun15 All missed the 50-1 shot!

04jun15 a few things sorted

A few things sorted in the plate Justin Sercombe, Barry Pemble and Vince Paige are certain to fill the top three spots just the order to decide (although Vince can't catch Justin for 1st) and Terry Matthews' failure to score today means he can now no longer catch Stuart Bentham so that guarantees Stuart 4th place.

The best of the day was Martin Long with his 4-1 winner to go to +41p still a bit off cash but £6.68 ahead of Vince in the standing side bet between them.  Barry Pemble and I both collected 10 points with a 9-10 winner in Ireland leaving Ian Carpenter 2-5 as the only other winner.  Those bets kept the alive the theoretical chance of both Ian & I catching Terry Matthews for 5th in the plate.

03jun15 leader stretches clear

5 winners again today but none of them generated any movement on either leader board except that Lee  Constable stretched nicely clear with his 9-4 winner against Tim's loser, the significance of that is that even if Lee has 5 losers with his remaining 5 bets Tim still needs a winner to overtake him.

The best of the day was Pete Long yes Pete Long!! 12-1 that lifted him into the top half and 14p above Vince which should make the trip to Windsor next Monday a laugh :-), other winners were Andy Vinall 6-5, Adam Slater 7-1 which moves him to +£2.43 and in 13th place and Danny Beaman 7-2.
