31jan16 Phew made it!
So where was I up to, Saturday just 6 winners and Sunday 7, joint best of the day Saturday were Andy Stevens & Martin Long both 8-1 for Andy enough to move nicely into one of the cash spots, and the same price for Sunday's best of the day for Stan Moore just enough to put him on the foot on the leader board. Most of the other winners were short priced stuff for the plate lads except 9-2 for Jo Hutson on Saturday and Steve Carter 2-1

27jan16 strange day
And a tough one with only 3 winners. But everyone on the leader board, all 15 of them, all had a loser so no changes at all and 6 of the top 8 in the plate had the same 1 point 4th at Thurles.
Anyway the best of the day winner was Dave Kingsbury 7-1 enough for him to go positive and sit on +79p and 16th spot. Yesterday's best of the day, Tom Feeney, now has the bit between his teeth brought up a double with a 9-2 winner and finally Tom McGarrity 7-4.
Bad luck to the syndicate of naps compers who own Faster Company that ran tonight at Kempton and came 3rd, looks like that ran into a nice horse in the winner that won Monday as well, and it wasn't helped at the start either, so all is not lost.

25jan16 & 26jan16 together
9 winners on 25th most of them the same 1-5 winner those were Stuart Bentham, Maurice Edgington, Justin Sercombe, Chris Pascoe, Ian Carpenter & Barry Pemble the others were Pete Long 4-9, Paul Stobbart 2-1 and best of the day 11-4 for Pat Quinn Jnr.
26th was much tougher only 3 winners but a massive 25-1 winner for Tom Feeney but he was a long way back and remains -£7.00 despite that, the only other two were Helen Fahey her second 7-1 winner in 4 days to return to the leader board in 14th & Jason McConkey 8-11.
In the plate Vince tried to slip the field yesterday with a tough 18 runner race while everyone else went for the 1-5 cert and 5 points, his ended up 4th for 1 point so the top three are all back in a heap - it is anyone's race as we approach the end of the back straight! And that includes Justin Sercombe 5 bets in hand 25 points off the lead.

24jan16 Go Nigel
Nigel Clifford didn't become the new leader tonight because Dave Klein managed to secure an 11-4 winner to just stay ahead. But a great purple patch for Nigel he tops the day again with his 16-1 winner. So that's 14-1, 7-1 and 16-1 in the last 6 bets!
In total there were 10 winners so the other 8 were Me and Ian Carpenter on Faugheen at 30-100, Dave Kingsbury & Steve Carter on Douvan at 1-14, Vince Paige & Stuart Bentham 8-11, Andy Grinter 3-1 to move back onto the leader board, and finally Roger Dore 5-1 to consolidate in 8th.

22jan16 Man U
Sorry day trip to Old Trafford got in the way yesterday - what a crap game!
11 winners yesterday joint best of the day with rock the Kasbah at 7-1 was Helen Fahey and Nigel Clifford. Barry Pemble, Chris Pascoe, Justin Sercombe, Steve Carter, Stuart Bentham, Vince Paige & Ian Carpenter all 4-6 Dave Barker 4-5, Dave Klein 11-8, were the other winners.

22jan16 big winner
Luckily Dave Klein's late night selection is a non runner so update is complete. The defending Champion smashes in a massive 20-1 winner to get onto the leader board for the first time this comp in 8th place. 8 winners in total the other 7 were Dave Barker 5-1, Gary Pascoe 11-4, Ian Carpenter, Justin Sercombe & Paul Stobbart all 6-4, Tom McGarrity 2-1, & finally Tommy Smith 11-4.
In the plate Vince sat out and plummeted to 3rd place on count back - is it all over for the favourite - think not actually :-)

21jan16 same old day
Plate boys once again all picking the same horse so we have Vince Paige, Chris Pascoe, Barry Pemble, Maurice Edgington & Stuart Bentham all picking the even money 10 point winner so that means best of the day went to the only other winner Paul Stobbart with his 3-1 winner. Meaning very little change on the leader boards

20jan16 update double
19jan16 just 2 separate winners among the 8 winning selections 2-5 for all the plate boys i.e. Barry, Chris, Justin, Stuart & Vince and the other was 2-1 for Tom McGarrity, Paul Berg, & Jason McConkey.
20jan16 again just 2 separate winners Dave Kingsbury bet of the day 6-1 and all the other 5 winners were the same horse for 10 points for plate players Vince Paige, Justin Sercombe, Kevin Wood, & Maurice Edgington, Stuart Bentham.
So all that shook up the plate a bit dropping Chris Pascoe to 3rd as he sat out and missed the 10 point opportunities on offer at Fairyhouse

18jan16 big thank you
Thanks to Colin Warmington for his honesty and for pointing out that his supposed 8-1 winner reported yesterday was really 8-11 and I had misread it - lets hope he bangs in a real couple of 8-1 winners now!
Loads of winners today 11, most of them the same horse! Barry Pemble, Chris Pascoe, Ian Carpenter, Justin Sercombe, Natasha Tizzano, Stuart Bentham & Vince Paige all 7 of them on the 30-100 winner at Plumpton. Jason McConkey 5-2, Steve Carter & Stan Moore both 6-5 but finally no doubt who got the best of the day Nigel Clifford 14-1 to leap up to 7th.

Excel on its way

16jan16 New Plate Leader
Chris Pascoe takes over at the top of the plate competition as Stuart sat out and Chris picked up a 10 point 11-10 winner which also took him 12th in the main comp. 9 other winners best of the day was Colin Warmington with a 15-2 winner that takes him £2.50 positive and in 18th place. 4 players had various 5-1 winners Pete Long to go 7th, Martin Long to get off the mark, Ben Cheetham to go 13th and Dave Barker. Other were Gary Dighton 7-4, Mark Quinn 7-1 to move into the cash in 9th & finally Justin Sercombe and Vince Paige both 13-8 and 10 points.
15jan16 leader pulls clear
Dave Klein brought up a double with a 9-2 winner to move £8.49 clear at the top, but not good enough for best of the day which great honour went to Mark Sharman at 15-2. Others winners were Jo Hutson 4-1, Jimmy McGarrity 6-5, & Rod Brown 3-1.
Sorry for late update but evening selections on a Friday are normally enough to do that!

Half Time Plate review and update
In Black was the card before the off So lets have a look out how the runners have done at around half way
Vince Paige (11-10f) the 9 time winner has said he is going for it again this time started poorly, but can anyone really stop him getting his 10th win. NOT REALLY BEEN CONVINCING LOOKS LIKE HE DOESN'T LIKE COMPETITION FOR THE LEAD! NOW 7-4JF
Justin Sercombe (7-4) two times in a row winner surely will try and defend especially now he has moved to 2nd in the all time winner list on 5 wins (above Ian Carpenter), Vince didn't really play last comp but he beat him fair and square in the spring, yet to start in this one. GOING WELL WITHIN HIMSELF AND SITTING OFF THE LEADERS WHICH IS HOW HE USUALLY RUNS BUT WORK TO DO SO NOW 11-4
Barry Pemble (11-4) 3 time winner, pretty much always does well in this back after a summer break! so must be a strong runner 2 for 2 so far so started well. NOT QUITE HIS USUAL SELF JUST GIVES THE IMPRESSION HE IS NOT QUITE UP FOR THIS ONE 5-1
Maurice Edgington (12-1), never won it and finished on the bubble 3 times in a row - I'm not a definite runner yet, not decided, I had a better comp last time not messing about with the plate missed cash by one place after being overtaken on the last day! LOL 66-1 AND THAT'S NO VALUE!
Chris Pascoe & Kevin Roberts, (both 14-1) both cashed last time and strong players in the main comp good each way bets here but with a full field and only 5 spots paying will there be space. CHRIS DEFINITELY HAVING THE BEST RUN OF HIS CAREER A LEADING CONTENDER BUT STILL SOME DOUBT HE WILL FULLY STAY NOW 5-2
Terry Matthews (20-1) has cashed this year but tailed off in 17th place in the last comp will he be trying? NO HE ISN'T TRYING TAILED OFF 2ND LAST 1000-1
Martin Long, (20-1) one time contender but pretty much leaves it alone now (last won it in April 08 #19), depends on whether he has the incentive of a side bet with Vince if he plays so may refuse to start! STILL RUNNING BUT THAT'S ONLY BECAUSE THE JOCKEY DOESN'T KNOW HOW TO PULL HIM UP! 1000-1
Pete Long (33-1) - 5th in the summer comp must have been a fluke, - surely that was a career best run :-) NOW 66-1 AND CATCHING MAURICE AS THEY FIGHT IT OUT FOR NO REAL PURPOSE OTHER THAN A LIFE LONG RIVALRY
One to watch - Tom McGarrity first time runner this comp, knows his stuff, just depends on whether he has managed to side step enough of the genes on the sire's side! STARTED WELL BUT LOOKS LIKE THIS TRIP IS SIMPLY TOO FAR FOR HIM 500-1
STEVE CARTER WORKING HARDER THAN THE OTHERS IN THE LEADING GROUP BUT STILL THERE 25-1, BEN CHEETHAM & RICHARD PASCOE NOW LOOSING TOUCH WITH THE LEADING GROUP 33-1 EACH

Stuart Bentham (4-1) clearly going for it in these early stages given he is 4 from 4 with a best price 8-11, but can he keep up the pace? Has only won the plate once in December 2011 (#29). BOWLING ALONG IN FRONT AND LOOKS TO BE REALLY ENJOYING HIMSELF STARTING TO GIVE THE IMPRESSION HE MIGHT NOT GET CAUGHT 7-4JF
Ian Carpenter (6-1) 4 time winner but nothing since #23 in august 2009, definite possible! LOOKS TO HAVE NO CHANCE NOW 99 POINTS OFF THE LEAD 20-1
Kevin Wood, (15-2) strong contender last time but only ever won it once in December 2009 STILL IN THE LEADING GROUP AND SAVING HIMSELF FOR A STRONG FINISH BUT HAS HE LEFT HIMSELF TOO MUCH TO DO 13-2Maurice Edgington (12-1), never won it and finished on the bubble 3 times in a row - I'm not a definite runner yet, not decided, I had a better comp last time not messing about with the plate missed cash by one place after being overtaken on the last day! 14jan16 new leader
Dave Klein's 7-2 winner today nudged him back into top spot. He was one of 5 winners Annette Berg 4-6, Kevin Wood 5-1, Steve Carter 8-13 and a best of the day for Paul Berg with his 6-1 winner, maybe just starting to see signs of life there as he approaches level all is not lost Paul!

250,000!
We have just passed through the cumulative 1/4 million mark for the number of visits to this blog - well done us!
13jan16 Big Day - nice winners
45 bets today the biggest so far and 5 very nice winners, best of the day for Jo Hutson at 16-1, but she still sits 32nd, Andy Grinter 8-1 to go 8th, Kevin Roberts 7-1 to scrape onto the foot of the leader board, Mark Quinn 3-1 to go back positive and finally Paul Stobbart 9-1.

12jan16 double day
Today we had 11 winners with Tommy smith capturing top spot with a 6-1 winner and yesterday it was Richard Pascoe with just a 5-2 winner but enough to take him top. most of the other winners were very short priced picks for the plate boys. Steve Carter gets a mention for bringing up a treble with winner the past 2 days and they were sufficient to take him 3rd.
Sunday, 10 January 2016
10jan16 8 winners
8 Winners but little doubt what the best of the day was and that was for Steve Carter 12-1 to move him up to 4th. The others were Stuart Bentham 4-9, Justin Sercombe, Chris Pascoe & Kevin Wood all the same 7-4 winner for 5 points after a non runner! Mark Quinn, Jimmy McGarrity and Mark Sharman all picked the very impressive Nearly Nama'd at 4-1
Saturday, 9 January 2016
09jan16 easy one
Just 2 winners best of the day 9-1 for Pete Long when he picked the winner of the Welsh GN one of 19 naps in that race! The only other winner was Michael Brook 11-4 that moved him to 9th one place in front of Pete Long who moves back to 10th the last cash paying position.
In the plate a good day for Justin Sercombe and Kevin wood who both sat out while all the others except Richard Pascoe used a bet up and failed to score.

07jan16 steady
Best of the day for Andy Stevens at 10-1 today to move up to 8th. There were another 6 winners 5 of them on the same 4-5 winner, Barry Pemble, Chris Pascoe, Justin Sercombe, Rod Brown & Vince Paige leaving just Ben Cheetham 9-4 to move joint 11th.
06jan16 LOL
10 people did the same horse today and it got beaten into 2nd those 10 included all of the whole plate leader board except for Stuart Bentham, the leader! We did however, get 6 winners the best of which was Stan Moore at 8-1 to lift him back to 11th spot. Others were Stuart Bentham 2-13, Helen Fahey 9-4, Rod Brown & Gary Pascoe both 11-4, Annette Berg 6-5.
Tuesday, 5 January 2016
05jan16 Slow Slow
Just 19 bets today and 3 winners on another terrible days racing. Nigel Clifford managed to find a nice 8-1 winner best of the day to move swiftly up to 8th spot, Barry Pemble picked up another 5 points for his 11-4 winner and went positive at 18p up in 23rd and finally Lee Constable 7-2.
Monday, 4 January 2016
04jan16 what rubbish
what poor fare on offer from the sport of racing basically the whole of this week. Still 5 people managed to find winners Michael Brook, Barry Pemble & Richard Pascoe all selected the same 5-2 winner, Stuart Bentham 10-11 & best of the day for Helen Fahey 11-4 to move 10th and bring up a nice treble
Sunday, 3 January 2016
03jan16 very light
Only 13 actual bets counted today after Plumpton got abandoned, looks like we will be running into a load of forced losers towards the end as we are miles behind the average number of bets by this stage of approaching half way. We did end up with 6 winners three of those were the top 3 in the plate with a 13-8 10 pointer the others were Tom McGarrity 4-11, Jason McConkey 4-5 and Dave Kingsbury 2-5, which means 13-8 was best of the day!
4 players now dormy they are, Jake Fifield, Gary Dighton, Lee Constable & Paul Motty

02jan16 tough day
Evidenced by the number who sat out and only 5 winners, strangely two of the top 4 on the main leader board picked the same 8-1 winner at Chelmsford!! so Mark Nutting and Dave Klein break away on their own and have joint best of the day - both of them are level number of bets so very tight. The other 3 winners were Colin Warmington 7-1 to move him up to a share of 13th place and a leader board spot, Mark Sharman 9-2 to close the gap in 7th and Stan Moore another Chelmsford winner at 15-8.
Only Barry Pemble & Kevin Wood of the main protagonists in the plate played and both failed to score

01jan16 Lots of Winners
Nothing spectacular though 5 plate boys all picked the same 4-6 winner they are the top five on the leader board over. 4 nabbed Village Vic at 7-2 they were Ian Carpenter, Mark Sharman, Helen Fahey and Pete Long, leaving just Roger Dore 4-1 and a best of the day for Gary Pascoe at 9-2.
