Did anyone else think this they said only 0.048% of all runners in the UK would die like Many Clouds did after racing. So lets say 250 runners a day 364 days a year that's over 40 that sounds like loads to me! and pretty unacceptable.
8 winners today best of the day honour fell to Jimmy McGarrity with a 3-1 winner closely followed by Dave Brammer 11-4 in turn closely followed by Spenser at 5-2 to extend his lead again. Andy Pitter, Vince Paige & Stuart Bentham all had the same 8-15 winner while Justin Sercombe & Annette Berg made do with a 5-4 shot.
A horse racing naps competition run by and for a group of racing fans in the UK. Selections by daily SMS/WhatsApp, £50 entry, 61 bets in 91 days. First started in 2001 and our 52nd Competition ended May 2024. Dates for 53rd are 18th August to 16th November 2024

29jan17 more like it
15 winners so will just pick out some of the main ones given that the excel will be issued in a few minutes. Adrian Hunt off the mark and best of the day with his 8-1 winner, Ernie Moore close behind and onto the leader board with his 6-1 winner, all the rest were odds on!
Good quality plate comp developing all of the top 6 are maintaining an average well over 4 points and bear in mind Barry won last time with the 6th best total ever and that was only an average of 4.14.

28jan17 Even Tougher!
Just two winners and the best was for Tom McGarrity 10-1 to lift him straight up to 5th. The other was tinged with much sadness as Steve Carted picked up the 8-1 victor of Thistlecrack in a great race with such a dramatic ending. Steve actually backed Thistlecrack and as a result his accumulator was lost!

27jan17 must have been tough
Just 4 winners and very rarely a best of the day that was odds on that was Andy Grinter 10-1, the other 3 winners were the top 3 in the plate Stuart Bentham & Barry Pemble both 4-9 and Robert Logan 4-7.

26jan17 Wow loads
16 winners so just the highlights and there were a fair few of them as well. Starting with a cracking best of the day 33-1 for Carl Dean, moves him to second a nice way to get off the mark. Also having a good day was Rod Brown, he got off the mark with an 18-1 winner to go straight in at 6th and a 3rd off the mark winner to leap onto the leader board was Annette Berg 6-1 and sitting 14th.
The leader banged in his second 8-1 winner in consecutive days sort of looking a bit out of sight even at this early stage.
In the plate almost all scored 10 points today 5 of them on 1-5 & 10 pointer winner at Gowran, Stuart Bentham, Ian Carpenter, Barry Pemble, Chris Pascoe & Robert Logan, other also picking up the same points were Justin Sercombe & Andy Pitter for their nice 9-2 & 7-1 winners respectively. Only Vince missed out he was too late with his entry!

25jan17 Leader forges ahead
Spenser bangs in the best of the day 8-1 to move nicely clear, 4 other winners Kevin Wood picks up his 8th winner at 4-5 to move 11th, Gerry McCann 2-1, Mark Kelly off the mark with an 11-2 winner, and finally Paul Berg brings up a double with a 13-8 winner.
In the plate good job Chambord du Lys got turned over at 4-9, after stumbling at the last, most of the leaders were on that!

15jan17 End of first week
10 winners on Sunday 5 players all on Barra at 5-4 and 10 points they were Barry Pemble, Robert Logan, Stuart Bentham, Ian Carpenter & Pete Long. Other winners were me & Kevin Wood both at evens, Mark Sharman best of the day 4-1 to go joint 2nd, Nobby Camunzuli 3-1, & finally Tommy Smith 9-4 to move pack positive.
In the pate it looks like we have a full contingent of players all going for it this time so could be an interesting spectator sport for those of us going for the main one!
First update excel will go out later please do check it i have been known to make the odd error - I do keep all the texts until the end of the comp.

12jan17 Super winner
65 of us suddenly agree with rule #25 that restricts the maximum SP of a winner to 33-1 in the first section of the comp, after Spenser Mills pick an astounding 66-1 winner so that rule really bites for him! Still sitting £31.00 up and £23.20 ahead of the field isn't a position to be too sad about, not sure if he backed it - hope so
Another mega day of winners with 16 in total out just 37 live bets after the snow beat Chelmsford tonight. Second best today was Gerry McCann at 6-1 closely followed by Jo Hutson, & Paul Motty at 11-2. Five of the plate boys all selected the same 5 point 1-3 cert, they were Barry Pemble, Justin Sercombe, Pete Long, Robert Logan & Stuart Bentham. Vince Paige took over at the top of the plate after selecting the very impressive Top Ville Ben who won at 4-5, the same selection as Ian Carpenter and Chris Pascoe. Kevin Wood and I both picked up an even money winner that's 3 from 3 for me and I'm not even on the leader board :-( Roger Dore 10-11 & Matt Raven 4-6, were the final two winners.
Had to be a bit tough and not allow Natasha Tizzano's selection today as she was after the cut off by 4 minutes (which isn't so bad on its own) but she was also less than 30 minutes before the off so had to put that down as a "no bet". Unfortunately, that meant she missed her 4th winner from 4 bets which stopped her holding on to top spot in the plate - sorry Natasha hope I'm forgiven :-)
Watch out for these things everyone.
Finally, a nice anecdote from Ian Carpenter that we can all relate to, on a corporate day out at Taunton yesterday had 5 out of 6 winners, loads of cash to bring home and what was his only loser - yep you got it his nap!!

Numbers Update
So looks like a mega entry we are at 66 with just 3 people left to pay (Andy Stevens, Tom McGarrity & Tim Catlin) and we are expecting all those to join. That should mean a 1200 first prize, will wait for the final 3 to confirm full prize structure.
Still not too late to join, as we are only a few days in, if there are others

11jan17 now we're cooking
15 winners from just 39 selections so here goes: 4 joint best of the day all at 7-1, Martin Long, Andy Pitter, Chris Pascoe, & Dan Mason, four of the usual mob on the 1-3 winner, Vince Paige, Stuart Bentham, Barry Pemble, & Terry Matthews to go top of the main leader board. Natasha Tizzano has started best 3 from 3 with today's winner at 13-8 to stay top of the plate, 2 winners on the same 2-1 shot, Ben Cheetham & Nobby Camunzuli and another 2 on the same 15-8 winner, Jimmy McGarrity & Michael Brook, leaving Jason McConkey 6-4 and me at 11-10 as the final two - phew!.

10jan17 Three
That's all today Kevin Wood 4-6, Natasha Tizzano 2 from 2 at 7-2 to go top of the plate, and Matt Weekes clocks up his first ever winner at 4-1 and tops the days winners.
Monday, 9 January 2017
09jan17 A bit better
8 winners today Terry Matthews topped the chart with a 7-1 to join Dave Brammer as joint leader Natasha Tizzano got off the mark with a 4-9 winner, Ray Harper 7-2 and 5 saddos all on the 2-5 shot at Donny they were Vince Paige (of course), Richard Pascoe, Justin Sercombe, Stuart Bentham & Ian Carpenter.
So rather gallingly that puts Vince top of the plate so that's the end of his I'm not going for the plate in this comp commitment!
