12may19 SUNDAY'S RESULTS
Just two winners Nobby Camunzuli best of the day at 6-1 but of more significance was Mark Nutting's 6-4 winner to move him 2nd and just £1.86 behind the leader - all to play for tomorrow
NB bets must still be in by the usual cut off of 1.30pm, I'm at my meeting from 5.30pm but will put up the position or an interim update if I can before I go and then of course as soon as I am back.
Sorry can't make Windsor and not sure if anyone is actually going
No excel update tonight top half of the table on the blog if you are not on that list then you need a winner better than 33-1 to snatch victory, there was a 125-1 winner only the other day that we all missed :-)

07may19 NEW LEADER
6 winners today and most of them with significance on the leader board, of course, the main one was Mark Nutting's 12-1 to go £1.27 in the lead. Best of the day wasn't that but the 16-1 winner for Dave Klein that brought him back onto the leader board in 12th and back in the mix. Chris Pascoe moved up to 4th with his 9-2 winner and I chased him up the list with a 4-1 winner to go 6th. Finally, there was mark Sharman at 9-2 to go 20th at -£1.62 and Ian Carpenter 6-5 in a 4 horse race to edge nearer to Andy in 2nd now on 28p off.
Monday, 6 May 2019
06may19 B HOL WINNERS
6 winners today 2-9 for Ian Carpenter who continues his well thought out wind out of the extra bets to reduce Andy's lead to just £1.48 and also for Stuart Bentham who achieved his target of 40 winners. Vince Paige & Robert Logan picked the same horse which won at 5-4 and 10 points and that might be enough to see Vince home 8 clear and a bet in hand. Alan Sparks 11-8 and best of the day just for me at a lowly 6-4, clawing my way up the leader board and still not out of it which is a comment that applies to the whole list!

05may19 SUNDAY'S RESULTS
Before the results, this is a very competitive and close comp this time I just looked back and in the modern era, so say the last 30 competitions since 2006, there have only been 2 winners with totals below that of Andy Stevens' current mark of £26.25 and the average across those comps has been just over £45 which implies this comp is here for the taking with the top 20 all with £30 and the top 10 all within £20. Easier said than done of course!
Back to today just 5 winners and a nice best of the day for Tommy Smith at 14-1, but he needed it and a couple more! Vince popped in what looks like a pretty decisive 10 point winner at 5-6 to retake the lead in the plate Richard Pascoe 5-4 to move ahead of his brother into 4th Ian Carpenter 2-7 and he unwinds his bets in hand on the leader and finally me 9-4 to consolidate my position in the final cash spot.
Looks like I can't make the final day at Windsor I'm having to chair a governors meeting at the school - sorry

06apr19 VERY IMPRESSIVE
Tiger Roll's performance of course under an extra 10lbs from last year justified a very mean price. 6 players picked that joint best of the day for them all as per the list below the other two were Stuart Bentham who went off-piste to pick up a 5 point winner at 4-5 and the final winner was Richard Pascoe at 3-1.
So that winner took Andy Stevens into a slight lead at the top of the table - nice one!

Given the very tight position at the top, I have started the bets to go number on the main leader board as pretty critical when you are just a few pence different from those around you.

26mar19 DISASTER!
Well, that is perhaps a bit of an exaggeration but my laptop screen got cracked and has died so this week's updates might be difficult as I was planning to take it with me as I'm away so Vince may have to do some of the typing!
Anyway, today we have 8 winners 3 all at 4-6 for Stuart, Vince, and Robert for 10 points each in the plate, Ernie Moore 7-4, Jamie Hill 11-10, Martin Long consolidating again at 1-2 and Mark Nutting catching up with a 3-1 winner. Finally, Nobby Camunzuli best of the day 11-2.

Other winners were Paul Stobbart & Jimmy McGarrity both 5-1, Kevin Wood 5-4, best of the day for Martin Long to go 3rd at 9-1.

20mar19 GOOD NEWS, BAD NEWS
Good really only affects me - sorry! Jade, recently 17, passed her driving test today I can finally hang up the taxi outfit all I need do is get her a car :-(
Bad, "We have left the EU" party all set up for next Friday looks like it will be postponed - or will it!
Well that was about as exciting as today got with poor racing that most of us left alone, we did manage 3 winners Ben Cheetham & Carl Dean both 9-2, and Ernie Moore drought up a quick double with an 11-4 winner.

18mar19 BECALMED
Just 4 winners today me and Ben Cheetham evens, Steve Taylor best of the day 7-1 and Kevin Wood 5-2, so nothing much else to report

17mar19 QUIET DAY

16mar19 AFTER THE LORD MAYOR'S SHOW
Just 4 winners Vince Paige 11-4 & 10 points to go back 2nd in the plate, Dave Klein & Gary Pascoe joint best of the day at 3-1, & Gary Dighton 1-2.
15mar19 WOW WHAT A DAY
Essentially disappointing terrible start with Sir Erec that was going to be the star of the day and for me the Gold Cup lived up to my expectations of a low grade (relatively) race most jumped poorly and lots didn't run up to their potential so all that coupled with a 50-1 & a 66-1 winner summed up the day none of our group even had a collect!
We did manage 3 winners between us Brian Hammon a nice 6-1 shot away from Cheltenham, Kevin Wood 7-2 and best of the for Gary Dighton Pentland Hills 20-1, seems like Gary's good at this meeting he won the special naps comp at this meeting last year and of course he is the defending champ!
OK back to normal now

14mar19 NICE PERFORMANCES TODAY
On course today we saw some very nice performances especially from Frodon and Siruh Du Lac a good day to be there. We managed 7 winners 4 of which were Paisley Park for me, Helen Fahey, Stuart Bentham & Robert Logan. Jimmy McGarrity had joint best of the day with Kevin Dighton with Frodan at a heavily backed 9-2 finally Mark Lowry also a joint best of the day as well on Siruh also 9-2.
I think tomorrow is tough
Triumph Hurdle 1.30 how can we look past the favourite Sir Erec after that run in Ireland but at evens (say) I think we have to leave this one alone as bad value, especially for us older types who remember the Daily Express Triumph Hurdle days when 33-1 seemed to be a common winning SP.
Gold Cup 3.30 must pass comment on this! So as I can't back Native River looking at those last two runs and I'm yet to be convinced Presenting Percy is really of a Gold cup standard, Clan Des Obeaux won impressively in The King George but that wasn't really expected and maybe it was a one-off. So I'm back again with Mullins again and Kemboy looks good value but this is hardly a massive endorsement, maybe this Gold Cup is a bit below standard?

13mar19 GREAT WINNER
and a new leader Chris Pascoe picks William Henry in an impossible race at Cheltenham yesterday at 28-1 to go top, inspired selection. 7 other winners 3 of them were Altior for the top 3 in the plate, Andy Pitter, Rod Brown & Kevin Wood all 7-2, Mark Lowry 4-1.
Thursday just Paisley Park in the Stayer Hurdle 3.30 for me!

DAY TWO MUSINGS
Just picking the races I have some sort of idea and there are plenty that it would be better to leave alone namely 2.50, 4.10 & 4.50.
Ballymore Novices Hurdle 1.30 only included because I was given a tip today on course for Sams Profile backed a little bit today in from 14-1 to 10-1 as I write, nothing too secret as it is the RP selection but I shall be backing it!
The RSA 2.10 I have been thinking about Elliot's runners' Apples Jade & Hardline both well fancied, to say the least, and both went out like a light at the business end of their races. So until I see one of his perform I'm not backing them so that takes Delta Work off the list and for me means Santini should win this :-)
Queen Mother 3.30 clearly can't look any further than Altior won't back it at 2-5 but will cheer it home.
Champion Bumper 5.30 need an Irish runner and who better than Blue Sari, only one run is a bit of a risk but that run was pretty special wasn't it so good enough for me

12mar19 DISAPPOINTING
The Champion Hurdle that is I thought that would be the highlight of the week but to have none of the 3 main players even make the frame was incredible as evidenced by the Tricast dividend of £22,068 for £1!!!
For us, there were just 5 winners best of the day was me with the 6-1 opener always a good way to start the festival the other 4 winners were all 5-1 they were Brian Hammon, Helen Fahey, Steve Taylor & Nobby Camunzuli.
Roll on tomorrow but look out for the 8am inspection!!

11mar19 HERE WE GO
Just 4 winners for us today Stuart Bentham 1-2 to close up on the leaders in the plate, Carol Carter joint best of the day at 4-1 to return to the leader board, Jamie Hill 4-6 and the other joint best of the day Pete Long 4-1.
Well the waiting is over here my day one thoughts
Supreme Novices 1.30 - can we ignore the Mullins well backed soft ground specialist that is Klassical Dream to kick off the meeting for the Irish?
Another Irish runner in the Ultima Handicap Chase at 2.50 this time Harrington's 22-1 shot Magic of Light looks a bit overpriced in a race that is pretty easy to leave alone
The big one The Champion Hurdle 3.30, defo the best race of the day for me and what a top 3! I certainly can't look beyond those runners. Apples has been running great but as Vince says does she travel after last year? So for me, it has to be Laurina, she has won here & has won a G1 unbeaten since moving to Mullins from France and best value of the 3 especially in receipt of 7lbs
Amateur Riders Challenge 5.30 well with the expected soft going you really do have to look to a runner that you know will get the trip so for me that cuts most of the top priced runners and leaves me looking at Impulsive Star 3rd in this last year, so if you have to have a get out of jail bet in the last this might be it.
So that's 8031-1 accumulator!!

RULE CLARIFICATION
Hi
We have had a couple of amended results recently that have involved peoples selections. At the back of the weekly excel is the schedule of rules that we have gradually over the 18 years got together. The pertinent ones are repeated below:
#19 All bets will be settled on the final result not first past the post
#23 All bets are settled on the result on the day after stewards inquiries not on appeals
#32 Void races - all bets treated as a non-runner even if some horses finish and are paid by some bookmakers
We will take another look at these at the end of this comp and see if any further clarification is required given that some bookies paid out on the first past the post basis yesterday

Top was Rod Brown 8-1 closely followed by Spenser Mills 7-1 to go 2nd, Brian Hammon 7-2, the leader, Colin Warmington, went 2 from 2 with his second winner at 11-10, Dave Klein was clearly in the know picking Cockney hill at Kempton that was backed overnight from 20-1 to 13-8 favourite (the rule 4 deduction on this doesn't apply in the comp). The other 5 were me 5-2, Ernie Moore evens, Martin Long 6-4, Nobby Camunzuli 3-1, & Paul Stobbart 4-6.
