Quite a few changes at the top of the main comp after Alan popped in a 9-1 winner on 26th to go second and followed up with a 4-1 winner the next day he only has 5 bets left and sits 22.94 behind our leader!
I have just managed to hang on to 3rd in front of Mark D & Ricky after getting a 7-2 winner yesterday - I've still not given up hope of catching the leader!!
Kevin is not quite home and hosed but the top three have pulled away from me in 4th and all look certain to collect the cash.

Day 73 24th November
Drama in main comp - Mark D gets a 28-1 winner and is now +24.00 and straight into 2nd from nowhere. This pushes me back to 3rd although I have had 3 extra bets and am only 2.75 behind. In 4th is Ricky who is just 3p behind me but is dormy and 4 bets behind. Alan sits 5th on +19.88 and is in the mix having had at least 4 more bets than all of the giuys above him. Vince is now out of the money in 6th on +14.54

Maurice Poker Tourney Result
Hi
Played in the PKR live III 2 day tourney in London this weekend. Good result and great fun made it through the first day onto the final 2 tables. Ended up in the cash, finished 12th for $2k - check out PKR.tv and watch the interview titled KK runs into AA - I was the guy who knocked out their TV star professional :-)
A bit disappointed to not make the final table (10th) but had 99 and ended up playing against chip leader (who had raised with 2,4 off) and then the flop was 2,3,4 looked like I was well ahead but of course got beaten by his 2 pair!
But got to play to win and bound to run into bad luck at some point

Day 71 22nd November 2009
all getting a bit exciting now - well other than first, of course, that George has sown up apart from a fluke from someone. Ricky now sits 2nd in the main comp but he is dormy and so still has 20 bets left I'm 3rd only 30p behind him and with 6 more bets but Alan in 4th is probably overall favourite to get 2nd. He is 4 bets ahead of me but only 1.37 behind. Vince is looking fairly comfortable in 5th, the last cash spot, as 6th is dormy and 8 bets behind
I will try and update regularly from now on.
Plate is also looking equally exciting - an old favourite in this comp (Martin L) has rattled through to take 2nd from me and is now 10 points ahead but I have 2 games in hand. I would in theory overtake him if I got the two winners, on 2nds countback! Vince is only 1 point off me but I also have two bets in hand on him, we are now fighting for the last cash spot. Jed is the danger for us 4 points behind but 4 bets in hand on me.

Day 67 18th November 2009
sorry for the long gap
Nothing really massive to report I don't think George has had a few winners and maintained a 20+ lead and is looking a cert now - I wouldn't want to bet against him. A bit of a bunch below in 2nd, Alan - 3rd me - 4th Ricky all cover by <3.00. Vince fills the final cash place in 5th but even he is worried about losing that.
Plate looks all over Kevin W. leads from me but now by 15 points and with 3 bets in hand.
Loads of people now dormy (see Monday's excel)

Day 58 9th November 2009
Hi all - sorry been in USA only got back today
ok lets hear it around the tracks of the England for Dave F he has secured his first winner!
George continues to drift back to the pack after rather unluckily getting 4 x 2nd in a row ahhhh!
The pack (led by me!) only 16.00 behind and I have had 8 more bets than George, also not far beind are Alan and Vince in 3rd & 4th respectively.
In the plate a holiday by Kevin (Breeders Cup we are guessing) has mean't Vince and I have caught him up a bit although he is still 2 points clear of me but with 3 bets in hand and 11 points clear of Vince with 2 bets in hand.
Hey - surely we all backed Zenyatta in the classic especially on that surface I took 4-1 in the morning best bet of the year. I bet owner of Sea The Stars feels a bit of a prat now as 2009 will be remembered for a racing superstar and one of the performances of the last 25 years and it will not be him! What a whimp

Day 52 3rd November 2009
Hi
The image is at the awards ceremony last Saturday Jo Hutson with last comps winner Lee
George only 23 ahead of Alan in first place now with Vince 3rd and me down in 4th
In the plate Kevin now 10 points clear of me in second and he has 2 bets in hand Vince 3rd here also.
Worthy of special mention having met up with him Saturday is Dave F now 0 from 29 bets in last, of course!

Day 46 28th October 2009
sorry for the gap so day 46 is first day of the second half of the comp
George still top - no prizes for guessing that on +50.25 he has had a couple of winners and maintained his gbp 30+ gap to the pack. Leading the pack after my 5-1 winner today is me! on +19.92 3rd Vince, 4th ricky and 5th Mark D.
So an all round good day for me 28 bets and just my winner - that's what we like to see.
In the plate Kevin W has switched on to the short priced shots and now leads by 1 point with one bet in hand from me on 80 points and Vince 3rd a further 12 points behind. Probably the dark horse in the plate is Ricky ok he is 30 points adrift but he has 11 bets in hand all he has to watch for is the fact that he is only 5 bets from Dormy.
Cup is now engraved and will be presented to Lee on Saturday watch out for the photo

Day 37 19th October 2009
27 bets (inc. the first forced loser for Val) and 6 winners, Alan M managed a 9-2 shot and moved to within 4p of me in second place with level bets - my 4-7f runner in a 4 horse race only came 3rd! JP, JR & K all had 100-30 winners. With 16 players positive from the 39 enties we are seeing a pretty high standard so far this comp.
Vince also consolidated his position as favourite for the plate with a win that just leaves him 7 points behind me with 4 bets in hand.

Day 36 18th October 2009
Sorry for the gap in update - loads of top quality naps and changes that you will see in the update email just sent out.
Friday - All the Dighton's had winners Mark, Geoff, Kev & Gary with 9-1, 9-1, 14-1 & 8-13 respectively and Mark Nutting joined in the rush with a 12-1 winner of his own. All up 7 winners from 25 bets. Saturday - I picked Twice Over in the G1 also 14-1 to go 2nd overall. Sunday John R kept up the impressive list with a 9-1 shot and Alan & Geoff (again) followed up with 5-1, & 9-2 themselves.
Leader still George, of course, but pack is starting to reel him in as the race approaches the half way mark. George +48.00 (19 bets), 2nd me +20.92 (26), 3rd Mark D +20.00 (19), 4th Alan M +19.88 (27) and last cash spot is Vince +15.08 (22).
Val is Dormy already!!
Plate - Vince & I sort of starting to open a little bit of a gap I'm 68 from 26 bets, Vince 57 but only from 22. Others in the hunt are Kevin 55 from 24 and Jed 53 from 24.

Day 32 14th October 2009
Billy storms up the leader board with an 11-1 winner to move into 7th on +11.50, 3 other winners from 25 bets.
Maurice (me) now 10 points clear but after 24 bets Kevin W in 2nd ahs 4 gets in hand.

Day 31 13th October 2009
23 bets 5 winners but nothing startling best price was 9-4 Jed so not much change in the main comp - leader had another loser!
Plate - top spot consolidated by me I'm now 8 points clear but with 3 bets more than 2nd and 5 bets more than 3rd so probably not the real favourite.

Day 30 - 12th October 2009
23 bets today - 3 winners Alan M, me and Kevin W. So I retain, well actually extend, the lead in the plate but still a sense of borrowed time.
No bet from the leader but my 9-2 winner lifts me 2 spots into 8th Alan & Kevin both picked the same 11-8 winner so table remains pretty much as was

Day 29 11th October 2009
Well I'm surprised I didn't get any comments re the F1 paddock girls picture - I'll have to get more outrageous
Everyone should have their update by excel by now - let Vince know if that isn't getting through etc.
Clearly its all about catching George who is on +52.00 (no more winners) but now only 33.00 ahead of Alan M who has forged through to 2nd after picking 7-1, 6-1, 4-1 winners in the past 4 days. 3rd is Vince +16.83 and 4th Pat Q +14.14 just ahead of Mark D who sits at +14.00.
Plate: I'm just about hanging on in the lead on 49 points from 21 bets but the pack are all catching and I'm only 2 clear of Vince who is 4 bets in hand. Close behind are also Kevin W and Gary P with less bets - I won't remain in this lofty position for much longer :-(

Day 25 7th October 2009
26 bets and just 2 winners Val gets of the mark and Martin L. moves into 2nd in the plate.
George C the 66-1 man has changed tactics and is now trying to consolidate his lead by picking short priced favourites - so far without any winners. He is + 54.00, Pat Q 2nd +18.14, Mark D 3rd +16.00.
I still lead the plate on 43 points (from 17 bets), 2nd now Martin L 39 (19), 3rd Ian C 37 (17)

Day 22 4th October 2009
Hi sorry for the very infrquent updates but just can't get the staff - Vince has finally had a busy week!
You should have your excel update by email now
However, high high drama new boy and son of Lee - George Constable hit the 66-1 winner, Oasis Dancer, at Newmarket Saturday his first ever winner in the competition! so that mucks up what had been a very competitive race so far :-). He is now +56.00 and if he doesn't hit another winner all competion will end up at +6.00 which was in the cash last time. He is 34.86 clear of Pat Q in second who is on +21.14, 3rd Mark D +18.00, 4th Vince +13.03 and Rod is the last cash position.
Plate sees me in very unfamiliar territory leading by a clear 7 points on 43 from 15 bets with Ian C on 36 (15) & vince 3rd on 34 (12).

Hi
Couple pulling a little clear Rod +15.50 and Vince +13.70 after 4 winners each so far. 3rd is Jo +6.38 and 4th Pat Q +5.91. New boy Steve Taylor has started with 2 from 3 so so sits in the money on 6th.

UNDER STARTERS ORDERS
Hi
Looks like we are on 40 players which means 1st prize of GBP 1000.00 and we get an extra prize place paid in both competitions. In the plate 3rd place now is in the cash and 6th prize is paid in the main comp.
Clearly we need to wait to see if everyone actualy has a bet and we are waiting on a decision from Graham Jones of Hereford, and a few others not included in the file yet who he may talk into from the boys who are nearly in Wales (its ok they won't see this). If we fall to 39 players then we lose the 6th in the main comp.
Rather sadly some will say (well those who are not accountants) we have a complete chart that agrees the prize structure for all entries between 20 and 70. We haven't gone above that as the admin would be basically a full time job!

Day 77 06/08/09
Nearly a full house today 29 out of the 30 of us had a bet (ok 5 were forced losers) just Alan M who didn't show.
6 winners, both Gary P and Rod had winners to allow Gary P to take the lead in the plate and Rod to move onto level points with Ian who only holds on to 2nd place on countback.
Not much change in the main comp Lee still leads by 8.29. Now only the top 4 are positive with Rod at -0.92 good enough for 5th and in the money!
Bad news on the updates while I'm away on holiday looks like Vince can't be bothered - feel free to text him late at night to request updates here if he slacks off on the admin :-)
Last text/email to me is Friday 07/08/09 after that to Vince.

Day 68 28/07/09
25 bets (inc. 4 forced losers) and a fair smattering of winners 7 in total most significant (I don't necessarily mean the best price) was pump3 again with an 11-4 winner to only be 5.04 behind Lee a great piece of chasing down. They are now both dormy all to play for.
Plate - Ian C on 115 points 6 ahead of Gary but 4 more bets Rod now only 3 bets less that Ian but 14 points behind - he might have blown it! but still a long way to go.

Day 66 26/07/09
20 bets today (includes 6 forced losers) 3 winners, pump3 continues his great run 8 winners from his last 10 bets to consolidate in 2nd and put more pressure on longtime leader Lee. Pump3 is now only 6.79 behind 2 less bets than Lee.
Plate Gary P gains 5 today as leader no bets and he hits another winner to be just 6 points behind with 4 bets in hand. Forgot to give pump3 a mention in the plate still a bit off the leader at 20 points behind but has 9 bets in hand so every chance.
Excel sent tonight with full update - NB 9 players now dormy!

Day 65 25/07/09
Sorry for no updates for a while been busy
Over the last 4 days 96 bets and 17 winners most noteable was Dave F with a 16-1 shot and pump3 with 3 from 4 winners to go 2nd now only 9.54 behind, Today was poor two selections for Conduit were the only winners
Plate Ian C still powering away now on 110 points but still in touch are Gary P 11 points behind with 5 bets in hand and Rod in 3rd 13 points behind the leader with 4 bets in hand - so favourite must be Gary P.

Win stats
so 985 bets recorded a bit over half the total for the whole comp. Just 177 winners and even excluding the forced losers that is a miserly 18.5% win % and equally bad is the pathetic 45% that get in the first three - good job we don't need to make a living out of this!
Day 55 15/07/09
21 bets today (inc. 4 forced losers) and just one winner Gary C with a 100-30f that pushes him back into the top 10. Both the leaders had losers so no real change at the top.
Plate
Kevin W - 90 points from 14 bets
Ian C - 86 from 38
Martin L - 80 from 38
Jed - 78 from 39
Mark West now dormy and had his first force loser today

Day 53 13/07/09
15 bets 2 winners Vince 3-1 and Gary D 8-1 so that pulls Gary D up a few places from 2nd last place and leaves me completely adrift in last almost 10.00 away from 29th spot - God I'm crap at this!
In the plate Martin Long was the only scorer at the sharp end of matters with a 2nd which lifted him into 3rd, 7 points behind the leader with 2 bets in hand.

Monday, 6 July 2009
Day 46 06/07/09
21 bets ZERO winners - first blank day of the comp! plenty of 2nd places but yesterdays excel update is still current. Ian & Jed are joint top with 13 winners 4 2nds and 4 3rds each so Ian leads by virtue of 2 fewer bets. Kevin W is 2 points behind in 3rd

Day 41 & 42 01/07/09 & 02/07/09
Congratulations to Gary P still going and completed a 7 timer (Vince has the all time records but that must be getting close). But as if to put Gary in his place Lee saunters up and pops in a winner today to extend the gap between them in 1st & 2nd back to over 10.00.
The plate is hotting up after, a best ever, 10 winners from 20 selections today - top is now Jed on 70 points (from 29 bets), but the challengers look like Rod only 5 behind in 5th but with 3 bets in hand. However a lively outsider, being held up at the back, is past winner Val, with 17 bets in hand - if she maintains her current average points per bet she can still easily overall a 41 point gap.

Day 40 22 bets and a best ever 7 winners highlight is Gary P who completed a very rare 6 timer and is consolidated in 2nd place overall less than 10.00 behind Lee. Other noteable winners were Vince 9-1 and the best of the day John Roach 10-1 they go 19th and 15th respectively after those winners.
Plate after day 40 has 1st Kevin W - 66 points (31 bets), 2nd Jed - 64 (27), 3rd Ian C - 61 (27), and 4th Martin - 61 (29).

Val will be dormy if she misses another 2 days and Gary Elphick the same if he misses 3 more. I suppose he is still recovering from his horse finishing 2nd in the Coventry!

Well leaders are slugging it out Lee posted a 4-1 winner today to go to +14.50 and Ian Walters replied with a 11-2 shot to draw level on +14.50 as well. Total of 16 bets today with 5 winners (inc. the leader's 2) other winners were Gary Cawsey again! Martin Long and Rod. Gary has now had 7 winners in total and is 3rd overall and 2nd in the plate.

kick off
Hi
So you have ignored the warnings and entered the shady world of geeks and visited the new blog, I'm not sure if that is a well done or not.
Just post your stuff here either as a reply to this or if it is a new subject etc. as a 'post blog'
You can be notified of replies etc. and I can set you up to be notified about all of these if you want to be a sad as me.
remember I have set this up as an open blog that means anyone say comment or post stuff and see anything you write so no private details unless you want the world to know.
What we might do is post the updates to here for those who don't use email and possibly more regularly than weekly
good luck in the comp that starts Sunday - well except Vince :-)
Maurice
