31jan12 leader wins again!

Paul Berg is really smashing the rest of us up here with his 4th winner in 4 days and another nice price 15-2 he has now gone £16.57 clear and is the first player who no matter what happens will definitely finish up 38 bets to go and +£40.25 a great effort.  11 other winners on a busy day with 48 bets so too many to go through.

Top 2 in the plate both picked up 5 point winners today, all the places remain as before unmoved now for about 10 days!

Val Impey went dormy today - come on Val lets be havin' you

Monday 30 January 2012

30jan12 a bit better

40 bets and 7 winners and the best one was the leader again who is becoming a bit unstoppable and slipping the field bringing up a treble with a 6-1 winner today this has taken him over £10.00 clear.  No other winners of massive note, so few other movements in the top 10.

In the plate the top three all had 5 point winners two of which were the 1-10 winner :-)

Sunday 29 January 2012

29jan12 blank day

Slow day not helped by the late abandonment of Sedgefield that left only 27 bets and we recorded not a single winner - not a dickie bird!

A few losers among the leaders that mean't that Eamon Kelly swapped places with Ken Jones by virtue of Ken Jones' loser.

Some of the leaders in the plate scrapped up an odd point but no change in the order

Excel will be issued later tonight

28jan12 Cheltenham trials

Nice days racing at Cheltenham this afternoon with a few naps compers in attendance.  A busy day 53 bets with 8 winners and some good ones among them. Best were Paul Evans and Ken Jones with different 12-1 winners. Paul Evans moves up from about 8th to 4th and Ken Jones leaps up to 7th for his first visit to the top 10.  Other good winners were me 7-1, Gary Pascoe 5-2, Kevin Wood 7-4, Neil Allen 7-2, the leader consolidated his slender lead with a 3-1 winner and finally Tony Murray 11-2.

All the leaders in the plate had a bet and the only winner was me with 10 points from Eire the others scored 5 point second places except Trevor James who missed out and is now under pressure from another plate regular in Kevin Wood who is only 1 point behind on 50 points following his 10 point winner today.

Friday 27 January 2012

27jan12 what a shame :-)

Enough said!

Action packed day with loads of decent winners and another new leader the third in as many days.  Overall 42 bets and 9 winners the best result of the day was 11-1 for Danny Beaman who reaches the top 10 for the first time in 9th= on +£9.50.  Maybe some sort of record saw 6 of those winners for the same 7-1 winner the super six were Tim Catlin, Paul Berg, Neil Allen, Kevin Wood, Jimmy McGarrity, & Jed Parramore - well done guys. Clearly Paul Berg's was of most significance taking him 7p clear of 2nd place Wayne Morton and 25p clear of Jon Curtis who now sits 3rd.

All quiet on the plate front with the top 5 stationary again.

Sponsor apology

Apparently this is not the forum for jokes but a serious competition - noted :-)

I'm having a bad morning Murray has just won the second set and I so wanted a straight sets defeat.

Well done everyone on the site visits we are already up to around 3,500 in January alone and have a chance of reaching 4,000 in the month

Thursday 26 January 2012

26jan12 new leader!

One bet to go in the last at Kempton from Nick Bosse - but not waiting for that! (Friday - it came 2nd)

44 bets 6 winners, drama was the 14-1 winner Wayne Morton and Tim Catlin (got off the mark today) picked today.  That moved Tim Catlin from 73rd to 25th an moved Wayne Morton into the lead by 18p on +£24.68.  Other winners were Stuart Bentham, Roger Dore, Mark Orlando & Lee Constable.

In the plate Stuart Bentham's winner narrowed the gap to the leader, he was the only one of the top 5 to have a bet

Rule Clarifications

Slightly esoteric but here goes

Relates to non runners and reserve horses in Irish racing.  If your selection is a reserve runner you are not allowed to submit a replacement horse unless and until the reserve is actually declared as a non runner (i.e. shown as a NR on sporting life or racing post sites).  This is even if it is obviously not going to run because none of the other runners have dropped out it must be officially declared a NR before an alternative is submitted.

Reminder you cannot submit a dual selection i.e. "if a non runner then I pick etc". a replacement must be separate text at a different time caused by the withdrawal of the first selection

Further reminder when a horse is declared to run in two races on the same day we do accept that horse as a selection wherever it runs UNLESS you have timed the selection in which case it will only count if it runs in the race specified.

25jan12 quite busy

47 bets and 9 winners double for Kevin Dighton today just got him back into the top 10 the only other winner in the top 10 was the 2-11 shot from Wayne Morton clearly that made no difference!

In the plate a bit of movement Justin Sercombe picked up a 10 point winner at Hereford to move into 3rd ahead of me.  Barry Pemble the leader in the plate also picked the same 10 pointer and stretched his lead to 15 points but he has had 5 more bets than the plate supremo Stuart Bentham.

Worthy of mention in dispatches is the 40-1 2nd from Julian Micklethwaite - unlucky sir!

Tuesday 24 January 2012

24jan12 bit better

39 bets and 9 winner today, 4 people picked the same 6-1 winner both Pat Quinns, Mark Kelly and Andy Wilson who got off the mark.  The only change to the leaderboard was Mark Kelly's move to 4th place from 9th, Kevin Dighton had a small winner to move back up to 11th.

In the plate 4th & 5th both had a bet but neither registered a point so for the third day in a row no change at all at the top.

Monday 23 January 2012

Joke - sorry girls

While on holiday in Thailand I nearly had sex with a ladyboy - She looked like a lady, smelt like a lady, walked like a lady, and talked like a lady.  It was only when she drove me back to her place and reversed her car into the parking spot first time that I thought - hang on a minute ....!

23jan12 ordinary Monday

Usual Monday rubbish racing and therefore low turnout for us officianados!  Just 32 bets and 4 winners but some of significance not least Jon Curtis, the leader, who restored a decent leading margin with the best of the day 13-2 winner, Paul Berg found a little 7-4 winner to go 2nd.  The other winners were James Foley who moved up a place into 5th and Kevin Wood.

None of the top 5 in the plate had a bet and as there is a 10 point gap between 5th & 6th the leader board was completely motionless - bit like Vince in the office :-)

Sunday 22 January 2012

22jan12 nothing special

7 winners from exactly half of the comp players and given that 4 of those winners were the, now, top 4 in the plate who all picked the same 10 point 11-8 winner in Eire that doesn't leave much other action. The best of the day was James Foley at 11-2 to move up to 6th spot on +£12.74, other winners were Luke Silk 4-1, and Martin Long who got off the mark with a 5-4 winner.

Excel update will be sent shortly

Saturday 21 January 2012

21jan12 strange day

Well mainly because I saw Cheltenham lose 0-2 at home but surprisingly still are joint leaders in League 2 as everyone else dropped points as well.

Racing saw 6 winners from 51 bets the best was the 9-1 winner for the Peter Long/Vince Paige combo!! but he was bottom before that anyway so still didn't make the top half. Other winners were Trevor James and Stuart Bentham over in Eire for a 5-6 winner, Rod Brown 7-2, Dave Barker 11-4, and Bert Peart 6-4. So pretty much all the leaders had losers today and the main leaderboard didn't move.

In the plate the 10 point winner for Trevor James moved him into 3rd above me and the leaders pulled away a bit opening up a small gap at the top.

Friday 20 January 2012

20jan12 standard fare

43 bets and 7 winners Daniel Billingham had a nice 9-2 winner to go 2nd just £1.37 behind the leader but having had 5 more bets than Jon Curtis we would all probably prefer to be in Daniel Billingham's position.  Paul Evans moved up a place to 5th after a 4-1 winner.  Mark Dighton collected 11-2 winner and had the pleasure of knocking Kevin Dighton out of the top 10 for the first time this comp.  Adam Slater moved to 13th +£6.00 after a 4-1 winner.  But the best of the day was Nick Bosse 8-1 to go to +£2.50

Everything motionless again in the plate.

Thursday 19 January 2012

19jan12 Better next time

Well Strauss you guys could hardly do worse could you!

But we had a better and busy day 54 bets and 9 winners.  Ones worth a special mention are Paul Berg 11-1 to move from 9th to 2nd and just £5.00 behind, John Curtis, the leader.  Ross Harvey got off the mark in good style with a 16-1 winner to go to +£3.00 in 15th place.  Maurice Edgington (me) and Trevor James both picked a nice 10 point winner in Eire at 7-2 to shake up the leaderboard a bit in the plate. Bert Peart picked up his 4th winner to go 12th on +£5.83.

Plate saw me go 3rd on 42 points as Justin Sercombe sat out and Trevor James replaced Dave Barker in the final cash place on 31 points.

Wednesday 18 January 2012

18jan12 Malvinas

50 bets and 8 winners today Tony Norton's 3-1 winner put him 4th and Eamon Kelly rose to 2nd by virtue of not betting.  Robert Barker's first winner at 5-1 took him up to +1.00 and into the top 20.  Jake Fifield's 6-1 winner, the best of the day brought him back near to level and the 10 points pushed him to 28 points in the plate and just 1 point from the cash.

There were a few short shots in the plate for the leaders and Dave Barker's 5 points just helped him scrape into the last cash position.

17jan12 ordinary fare

37 bets 6 winners, two from the top 10 Kevin Dighton a small winner to move up one place to 9th and Paul Evans a 5-2 winner to go 5th.  Other winners today were Billy Bray, Justin Sercombe, Mark Nutting got off the mark at last, & Pat Quinn Jnr.

In the plate no change in the order Justin Sercombe was the only one of the top 5 to get a winner.

Sorry this is late had to work this evening :-(

Monday 16 January 2012

16jan12 British Tennis :-)

Nice opening day lads lets hope its goes zero from 6

Today 37 bets and some nice winners among the 7 achieved.  Best was Paul Berg 16-1 to lift him to +£10.00 and 8th place and another for Mark Kelly to rise from 10th to 5th with a 8-1 winner.  Other 5 winners were Shaun Johnson, Ken Jones, James Foley, Jed Parramore, and George Casserley.

In the plate only Justin Sercombe of the top 5 had a bet and that fell! So no change.

Sunday 15 January 2012

15jan12 Irish rush

33 bets and a very respectable 11 winners OK 7 of them were the same horse at Navan at 4-7! Other winners were Tony Norton who is now 4 from 5 and sitting 5th after the best winner of the day at 5-1, Bert Peart & Howard Kelly at 5-6, Dave Barker brought up a double with a 7-2 winner to go positive and sit in 19th.

Obviously with a 10 point winner that 7 people picked loads of points scored in the plate but the major change was me arriving on the leaderboard! nose bleed territory for me :-)

Excel update will be sent shortly

Saturday 14 January 2012

14jan12 1-1 against Wolves :-(

Only 5 winners from 50 bets today lots of hard luck stories for 2nd places though.  Winners first Danny Beaman 9-2, Dave Barker 11-10, Dave Ward, 9-2, Tony Norton 4-7, & Justin Sercombe 9-2.  So the only person who moved around in the top 10 was Tony Norton who rose 2 places for that odds on winner.

In the plate Justin Sercombe's 10 point winner lifted him onto the leaderboard.

The hard luck stories were the 5 of us who saw Allure of Illusion beaten after getting badly hampered, and the very bad riding from the claimer on Featherbed Lane, in the Lanzarote, chucked away the win by a nose -  any other jockey would have seen that home.  Finally, a great run from the 33-1 outsider, Gracchus, for Paul Berg also just finished 2nd.

If only eh! Well if only the jockey on the winner of the Lanzarote that got the favourite home by that nose by excessive use of the whip had been punished properly not just banned - if they want to stop it they have to take away the win not just his fee.

Friday 13 January 2012

13jan12 ordinary

40 bets 6 winners they were Eamon Kelly 3-1 to move up one place to 3rd, Dave Kingsbury 3-1 to go 9th, Tony Norton 5-4 to go 8th, the others were Maurice Edgington (me!), Matthew Long, & Joanne Hutson who rather touchingly joins Steve Walton on exactly the same +£2.50 joint 18th.

Plate Eamon Kelly's winner saw him move to 2nd

Thursday 12 January 2012

12jan12 Roaring Forties

Massive winner today for Jon Curtis 40-1 (restricted to 33-1) to take the lead and that was despite Daniel Billingham following up yesterday's great winner with a 9-2 shot.  Other winners today were Paul Berg 3-1, Shaun Johnson 2-1, & Tom Feeney with a nice 8-1 shot that moved him to 15th just £1.50 from the cash.  So only 5 winners today from 39 bets.

Lets hope Friday's racing improves after what has been a very poor week for the sport as a spectacle dire stuff.

Plate was very quiet again Danial Billingham just managing to scrape into 5th place on countback.

Wednesday 11 January 2012

11jan12 Day of High Drama

Wow brilliant day 10 winners and mass change around on the leader boards.  Both Wayne Morton & Julian Micklethwaite picked the same 18-1 winner going 2nd and 5th respectively. Daniel Billingham trumped that with his own 14-1 winner to go top, Tony Norton had his first bet a 7-1 winner to bang straight in at 7th.  Poor old Barry Pemble who continued his remarkable and probably the best ever start by anyone to a comp with 7 from 7 winners and still only just scrapes into the cash in 9th!

Loads of selections for Dickie le Davoir - too late guys you missed it :-)

In the plate obviously Barry Pemble retains the yellow jersey here but some other new faces getting onto the leader board now.

Tuesday 10 January 2012

10jan12 Henry or Henri

39 bets today with 5 winners, only one of note was Nick Bosse with a nice 6-1 winner to shoot up the table and onto the leader board in 10th place.  Other winners were Tom Feeney, Howard Kelly, Gary Dighton, & Dave Barker.

No-one in the top 5 of the plate even had a bet today but that still didn't allow anyone to break through on what can only be described as the second really crap days racing in a row.

Seeing that 200-1 winner yesterday and Pat Quinn Jnr selecting another 200-1 shot today I'm prompted to remind everyone that the maximum winning odds at the start of the comp is 33-1 no matter what the actual price returned is.  This rule applies for the first 41 bets you personally have.

Monday 9 January 2012

09jan12 slow

37 bets and just 3 winners Pat Quinn Snr. 4-1, Dave Palmer 11-4, & Joanne Hutson 2-1  So both leader boards were pretty much unaffected apart from some slight changes for those who sat out.

Lost another one today so now down to 74 - thanks for those who paid up to 40 collected so don't be shy cash accepted :-)

Sunday 8 January 2012

08jan12 Come on ref get a grip

Eamon Kelly joins Paul Evans in the joint lead after the best winner of the day 8-1.  Overall 37 bets and a pretty remarkable 15 winners - ok 6 of them were the same odds on shot at Naas but a winner's a winner :-).   A remarkable start from Barry Pemble who continues to maintain his 100% record now after 6 bets, clearly all short priced as despite that he only sits 9th in the main comp.

With the 10 point winner at Naas it was all change in the plate - well except for Barry Pemble who continues to lead on 30 points with now Stuart Bentham (the reigning plate champion) closing in on 25 points from just 3 bets.

We lost a runner today so back down to 75, we still have 4 left to bet but as John Roach has paid we only have 3 that we need to worry about - give them a nudge someone, Andy Wilson, Martin Broderick, Tony Norton.

Saturday 7 January 2012

07jan12 replays

A busy day with 52 bets and 9 winners, best was for Eamon Kelly at 6-1 to lift him into the top 10 and Barry Pembles continued with his perfect start and now is 4 winners from 4 bets.  Lucky 4-1 first winner for Bert Peart  after a dead heat but keeps the full odds (see rule 17), that small winner takes him to 13th.

Barry Pembles' knocks Paul Evans from the plate top slot after Paul Evans picked a non runner and we saw the first 10 point winners from Stuart Bentham (of course) and Gary Pascoe.

Friday 6 January 2012

06jan11 Special Day

Why so special well its all down to Barry (boomer) James who has had a winner today 13-2 to go 6th, but its not that! Barry's last winner was bet number 50 in competition 28 so that's a 75 in a row losing streak finally broken.  That is what we call a stalwart and devoted Naps Comper brilliant.

8 winners in total from 36 bets nothing brilliant in fact Barry James at 13-2 was the best.  Of note was Barry Pemble's 4th winner from 4 bets, and another winner for Paul Evans the leader so he pulls £5.00 clear.  Luke Silk, a founder naps comper, had his first bet on his return and got off to a winning start, as he puts it 'his return to reclaim his crown'

Paul Evans maintained his lead in the plate as well

We gained another player tonight so including him just 8 people left to have a bet and then we can confirm prizes.

Thursday 5 January 2012

05jan11 arh way the lads

45 bets and a very respectable 11 winners today - Daniel Billingham a new boy kicked of his effort with a nice 8-1 winner and shot up 4th and both Barry Pemble and Gary Dighton brought up a treble.  Eamon Kelly and Lee Constable both hit 5-1 winners to jump onto the leaderboard.  The leader had a loser and is now only £1.00 clear of Kevin Dighton in 2nd who sat out again.

Wednesday 4 January 2012

04jan12 winners galore!!

16 winners from 49 bets today - well done everyone clearly too many to mention apart from Vince Paige who despite recording a treble today and being 3 from 3 fell a place in the main comp to 8th.

Plenty of first time players started today so only 11 left to place a bet and a couple of those have had a bet that has been a non-runner.

Paul Evans holds on to the lead in the plate with a 2 point 2nd today - but ominously both Justin Sercombe & Stuart Bentham started today and kicked off with a 5 point winner each, here they come!

Thanks to Wayne Morton today who introduced a new player to this comp, Julian Micklethwaite, that bring us back up to 75 runners.

Tuesday 3 January 2012

03jan12 14-1 again

With the late abandonment of Ayr today that cut the players to just 17 with two winners Kevin Dighton resumed his position amongst the leaders with another 14-1 winner, that's 3 in 2 days.  The other winner was Paul Evans 3-1, who has the rare distinction of leading the plate and main comp at the same time - Make the most of it!

Lost two runners today but gained one back late so now at 74.

23 still to have a bet

Monday 2 January 2012

02jan12 first big ones

A very healthy 8 winners from 27 bets today - so still low numbers but these winners did included Paul Evans & Mark Kelly both who picked the same 14-1 winner - Mark Kelly quickly and very nicely completely disproving the earlier post today :-).  Wayne Morton, Ian Carpenter and Gavin Bosse all got off the mark to feature in the top 10 at this early stage.

Vince sits on top of the Plate by virtue of his 2nd winner today - a marked change in tactic here from him looks like an early attempt on the plate win.

Still 30 players to have a bet we will wait to see if we get any no shows before deciding the payouts.

Napscomp makes Sky TV

As seen on last night's TV coverage at the World Darts

This is referring to Mark Kelly 3rd place in the last comp - I think that is the World Championship trophy in the background!  Apparently not the cup but a girl in a golden dress - I would say that was better :-)

Sunday 1 January 2012

02jan12 We're off

34 bets on the opening day with just 3 winners Vince Paige 4-6, Ian Carpenter 11-10 and the best of the day 6-1 for Adam Slater to move to the head of affairs

Long way to go :-)
