Monday 31 March 2014

31mar14 4 timer

Just 4 winners today and Adam Slater takes the honours with his 13-2 winner to just go positive now 25p up, others were Wayne Morton 7-2 to move 7th, Carl Dean 5-4, & Dave Barker 6-4.

Hardly any of the leaders in the plate had a bet so no movement at all on the leader board.

Sunday 30 March 2014

30mar14 new leader

Happy mothers day to the very few mothers among us!

Tim Catlin sat out and as Paul Berg had a loser took over at the top of the main comp leader board.  Overall 4 winners today and a couple of nice ones Martin Long 14-1 to move 4th & Mark Sharman 7-1 to go 8th.  The other two were Barry Pemble 100-30 again and Gary Pascoe the same winner.

Vince's loser meant the pack reeled him in a bit.

29mar14 delayed sorry

Was out last night so didn't get to this!

Story of the day was the return of a long time leader from the last comp to the fray, Spencer Mills bagged a 14-1 winner to leap to 6th.  Tim Catlin kept up his fine run of form with a 3-1 winner to move second on both leader boards, another in a bit of a purple patch is Jed Parramore whose 6-4 winner brought up a 4 timer, Barry Pemble 100-30, Pete Feeney 3-1 were the only other winners.

In the plate Vince Paige missed out on a 10 pointer at Navan by a nose but still picked up 5 points and so moved out to 18 points clear.

Friday 28 March 2014

28mar14 no chance

Of me waiting for Martin's nap that runs at 8.45!!

So without that, the results from Friday are 6 winners worst of the day for the 4th day on a row is Ian Carpenter :-) what I mean is that he brought up a 4 timer today with his 1-5 winner for a total win across all four of £1.08 no mean feat. Best of the day was Craig Connelly for the 2nd day in a row only 4-1 this time but moves to +£8.88 and 8th place.  The other 4 winners were Annette Berg & Tim Catlin 11-10, Dave Barker 3-1, to take over in 2nd place from Terry Matthews, Paul Stobbart evens.

In the plate Vince sat out so that allowed the field to catch him a little bit more now only 13 points ahead!

Thursday 27 March 2014

27mar14 10 again

But mainly nothing of note except for our best of the day award which goes to Craig Connelly for his 8-1 winner to move just off the leader board in 14th on +£4.88, other winner that were not odds on were Tim Catlin 2-1, and Spencer Mills who got off the mark at 5-2, all the rest were odds on so not worthy of a mention really!

A bit of a shuffle on the plate leader board as a few picked up a 5 point winner unluckily only 15 runners with a late non-runner

Wednesday 26 March 2014

26mar14 a bit tougher

Just 4 winners today and some quiet nice ones, best was Wayne Morton with a 9-1 winner to move into 7th, others were Big Al & Pat Quinn Jnr both the same 5-1 shot Al goes 15th on +£4.25 and Pat goes 3rd=, and finally there was Ian Carpenter clearly taking a different approach with his 1-12 winner!

In the plate despite not winning Vince extended to 18 points ahead with his 5 point 2nd

Tuesday 25 March 2014

25mar14 one fat lady

8 winners today again with one standout winner and little else but a winner is a winner :-).  The winner was Jay Lewis 12-1 to shoot up to 5th.  Others were Ross Harvey who brought up a treble and 4 from the last 5 with his 7-4 winner, also Tim Catlin 9-4, Jimmy McGarrity 6-4, Jon Hall 2-1 Ian Carpenter 8-13 & Carl Dean 5-4 & Paul Stobbart 9-4.

That's all folks - go City go

Monday 24 March 2014

24mar14 nothing special

7 winners but all pretty ordinary apart from Wayne Morton's 8-1 winner to get off the mark and move to 16th.  Others were 2-9 for Vince Paige & Barry Pemble, Ross Harvey 4-6, Martin Long 1-2, Jed Parramore 4-5 and finally Carl Dean 3-1.

Vince Paige despite saying he is not going for the plate this time still moved 16 points clear at the top!

Sunday 23 March 2014

23mar14 flat starts in Ireland

And with a bang for the naps comp with a few good winners from the Curragh among the 10 winners posted today.  Best of the day was Malcolm Mitchell with his 2nd winner in his first 4 bets, this time at 7-1 which moves him to 6th, a pretty good start.  3 people picked the 11-2 winner of the Irish Lincoln at the Curragh at they were Vince Paige, Paul Stobbart, & Gary Pascoe, Pete Feeney picked an 11-2 winner to move onto the foot of the leader board.  Other winners were Jon Hall & Justin Sercombe & Ross Harvey 8-15, Jed Parramore 11-10 & Dave Barker 5-4 to consolidate in 3rd spot.

Vince's 10 point winner took him 13 clear of new 2nd place man Paul Stobbart in the plate.

Everyone has had a bet now so we are a definite 56 runners - confirmed prizes will follow

Saturday 22 March 2014

22mar14 at last

7 winners today best of the day was Ken Jones who got off the mark with a nice 10-1 winner to go from last to +£1.00 and 17th.  I also got off the mark today with an 11-2 winner also wins for Terry Matthews 5-1 to close the gap on the leader to just £2.00, Pat Quinn Snr 5-4, Jake Virgo 4-1, Colin Warmington 7-2 to go 6th & Barry Pemble 4-9 enough to lift him onto the foot of the plate leader board

Just Gary Dighton left to play and when he has his first bet we will confirm the prizes, clearly pretty much the same as the last comp as we are only one person less!

21mar14 another bumper day

10 winners today and some good ones clearly the stand out 2 were Terry Matthews & Paul Berg who both picked the same 16-1 winner to go 1st & 2nd.  Mitch the new boy picked a 6-1 winner to scrape onto the bottom of the leader board, Mark Sharman & Pat Quinn Jnr both had the same 5-1 winner to improve their standings and, the last winner of note was, Ross Harvey with a 6-1 winner to also make it onto the leader board just about!

Thursday 20 March 2014

20mar14 plus 2!

Gained two new players today to lift the total to 56 (subject to last two who we are waiting to start)  So welcome to a long lost returner Stuart McLeod a previous podium winner and a new person Malcolm "Mitch" Mitchell for his first attempt.

5 winners today Vince Paige & Martin Long evens and 10 points to both shoot to the top two places in the plate, Pat Quinn Snr a 4-9 winner Mark Quinn who brought up a three timer with a 7-2 winner which took him 7th and finally Tom Feeney with another 7-2 winner who moved to 3rd.

Wednesday 19 March 2014

19mar14 best day so far

11 winners today so just concentrate on the best few, topped by Tom Feeney 11-1 to get off the mark and go 7th and Pat Quinn Jnr 9-2 to move 3rd.

Paul Stobbart's 10 pointer took him level on points with the leaders in the plate

Tuesday 18 March 2014

18mar14 that's better

31 bets so you have all come back!  Weirdly 4 people picked the same 7-1 winner in the 17 runner race at Wetherby today, and it didn't look that much of an obvious choice, they were Mark Quinn, Martin Long, Terry Matthews,  & Jay Lewis - well done lads.  Other winners were Annette Berg 9-2, & Stuart Bentham evens & Gareth Chapman 7-2, all three of which got off the mark.  Leaders drew level again as Tim Catlin picked up a loser.

In the plate despite all the 10 pointers no real movement other than Jay Lewis scrapping onto the board in 6th.

Monday 17 March 2014

17mar14 still not going

All playing it very slow this time just 19 bets today and 3 winners best was Dave Kingsbury 4-1 then Craig Connelly evens finally Pat Quinn Snr 1-4 - a strange symmetry

Clearly no action on the Plate and other than Dave Kingsbury arriving in 8th the main leader board only changed because Tim Catlin sat out and Dave Barker had a loser

Sunday 16 March 2014

16mar14 where are you all

41 of the 54 players sat out today - but we managed 2 winners Jimmy McGarrity 8-1 to go joint 3rd alongside Paul Berg - nice little rivalry there.  The other winner was Barry Pemble 2-5.

So as both leaders sat out nothing much to report they are joint top of both leader boards.

I managed to continue the form of the last comp and have started with 6 losers from 6 and sit bottom :-(

Saturday 15 March 2014

15mar14 no winners

Enough said on a very slow day - everyone Festivaled out :-)

14mar14 I was right

Yep just Tim Catlin with his nice 12-1 winner to draw level with Dave Barker both joint leaders on both leader boards - a first ever

Friday 14 March 2014

14mar14 news flash only

Looks like there was only one winner today on a quick scan of the texts that was Tim Catlin with Don Poli at 12-1

Full update in the morning

Thursday 13 March 2014

13mar14 Another good one

8 winners and all nice ones Steve Walton picked the winner of the big race of the day at day 15-2, at 9-2 there were Alan Mabb, Jon Hall, and at 7-1 all of Matthew Harrison, Dave Kingsbury, Jimmy McGarrity & Ken Jones finally we had Ian Carpenter 2-5.

A nice set of winners on what I thought was a tough day

Annie v Bucks

12.20pm 30 bets received and the split is

Annie Power 5  Big Bucks 2

Wednesday 12 March 2014

12mar14 even better

10 winners from 38 today so this is a sparkling start.  Star of the day and the show so far is Dave Barker who followed up yesterday's 8-1 winner with a 14-1 winner today to go top, but that wasn't best of the day previous winner Paul Berg topped that with the 16-1 winner of the bumper to go 2nd.  Colin Warmington also gets a mention for a 12-1 winner to go 3rd.

Dave Barker's winners are both 10 pointers so he remain on a maximum and leads the plate.

We are up to 54 players now as Adam Slater & Carl Dean joined

Tuesday 11 March 2014

Day one - well done everyone

A fine overall performance on our and the festival's opening day, 9 winners - if you look over at the leader board you can work it out :-) well all except Jon Hall with his 4-1 winner at Southwell the others are all at Cheltenham.

Lost one since yesterday's blog so now down at 52 runners - at least I backed Jezki at 10-1 shame i never napped it!

Monday 10 March 2014

Hello everyone

We are back - comp #36 starts tomorrow and the count from Vince our Membership Sec. is at 53 runners with 46 paid.

A bit of new blood so welcome Jake Virgo, Keri Smoothey, Andrew Stevens & John O'Neill and good luck to all
