End of the day group photo

Jo strangely trying for a close up of Kevin perhaps it was the way he has manfully propped up the whole leader board for most of the comp :-)

Martin watching Nigel's runner as he waits for victory

Discussing next years Killarney trip?

Or is it the Champ telling us all how he did it!

03dec16 Tale of the day

So after my cock-up with a key bet on Friday evening that meant Nigel Clifford was actually £1.05 up going into the last day Martin Long was not my best friend when I walked into the Champagne Bar! Still carefully not revealing any bets until they were all in Nigel gave Martin a sporting chance when he didn't pick the 2-7 winner that he might of but went for Irish Cavalier.  So Martin's even money shot duly obliged and Irish didn't leaving Martin back on top by 95p and the champion for the 3rd time.  He joins the list of just 4 people who have won it 3 times they are Lee Constable, Colin Edwards and Steve Walton.

In the plate Robert Logan (sorry we didn't meet up on course missed your text message) picked a very gutsy 10 pointer that duly obliged at 4-1 meaning he regained 3rd spot from Stuart Bentham who only managed a 3rd.

In the final race Barry Pemble rattled in a 10-1 winner which took him to 6th place in the main comp taking that form me by 24p! That also knocked Dave Brammer out of the cash and onto the bubble having been in the money for most of the 2nd half of the comp.  Dave Barker & Michael Brook both picked the 8-1 winner of the Beecher didn't do either of them any good in the comp so hope they backed it.

In the plate Barry's win puts him on the same number of wins as Ian Carpenter 4, but both behind Justin Sercombe 6 wins and Vince's 10!

Saturday 3 December 2016

03dec16 Final

Congratulations to Martin Long who came back after being overtaken yesterday to win by 95p

Full story and update tomorrow

MAJOR CORRECTION - SORRY

Nigel Clifford had a 6-1 winner which I missed so that takes him to the top by just 1.05

Friday 2 December 2016

02dec16 last day is here

Looks like there will be a good showing tomorrow could be 20 of us!

Just 4 winners today and a clear best for Mark Sharman at 10-1 but me thinks too little too late! Others were Kevin Dighton who got off the mark (no don't laugh!) with an 8-13 winner, Dave Barker 15-8 to move him to the top 20 and finally Barry Pemble whose 8-11 winner secured his victory in the Plate congratulations!  A great finish 9 winners from the last 10 bets

01dec16 Nearly there

7 winners Barry Pemble, Justin Sercombe & Stuart Bentham all the same 2-7 winner and 10 points with Ian Carpenter 5 points and 8-15.  So what that means is that 1st & 2nd place in the plate is a straight fight off between Barry & Justin, 3rd and 4th is a fight off between Stuart and Robert Logan and Chris Pascoe can still catch Ian Carpenter for the last cash spot.

The other winners was a best of the day again for Paul Mott at 6-1 to go 5th, Gary Pascoe closes in on me as well with his 7-2 winner and finally Annette Berg 5-2.

Wednesday 30 November 2016

30nov16 even crummier

Just 3 winners today Justin Sercombe 2-1, Chris Pascoe brought up a 6 timer with an 11-8 shot & his brother Richard at 5-6.  not much else to say really - 3 to go

Tuesday 29 November 2016

29nov16 crummy racing

7 winners today 3 of them the same horse at 2-5 Barry Pemble, Chris Pascoe, Stuart Bentham, Tommy Smith & Tim Catlin joint best of the day at 4-1, Justin Sercombe 7-2, & Jason McConkey 7-4.

Monday 28 November 2016

28nov16 Final week

9 winners but nothing special! Barry Pemble, Robert Logan, Justin Sercombe & Chris Pascoe all picked the same 4-6 winner, Helen Fahey and me both picked the same 6-4 winner to move me back to 5th, Gerry McCann best of the day 13-8 and Ian Carpenter & Richard Pascoe both 2-5.

Sunday 27 November 2016

27nov16 unlucky Lewis

5 winners and the Paul Mott system pays again his best of the day 7-1 winner takes him into 5th spot, Barry Pemble, Justin Sercombe & Chris Pascoe all picked up 10 points with their Navan 1-3 winner so that just leaves Tom McGarrity at 5-1.

Saturday 26 November 2016

26nov16 last week

Just 6 winners today 4 of them the same price 7-2 and joint best of the day for Chris Pascoe to go 4th, Richard Pascoe enough to move onto the leader board, Rod Brown to go 3rd and Jake Fifield.  The other two were Ben Cheetham 5-4 and me a plucky 1-8 - guess who!

Friday 25 November 2016

25nov16 loads of winners

11 in total 11-1 for Tom Feeney was the best of the day enough to take him to the foot of the leader board Friday night not going through all the others!!

Thursday 24 November 2016

24nov16 Big Winner

Paul Mott picked up his 2nd big winner of the comp at 16-1 only his 5th winner but follows a 25-1 winner early on.  A different way to do it but effective he now sits in the cash in 8th place.  7 other winners and 5 of them were the 2-9 winner at Thurles and 10 points for Robert Logan, Barry Pemble, Stuart Bentham, Justin Sercombe and me (had to stop the rot after 5 losers in a row, Gary Pascoe was starting to look menacing).  The other 2 winners were Helen Fahey 7-2 really what might have been for Helen she has had 19 2nd places miles more than almost everyone else, and finally Rod Brown 6-5.

Wednesday 23 November 2016

23nov16 slow day

Just 4 winners very slow - they were of significance however, Barry Pemble 4-11 and 5 points enough to unseat the long time leader at the top of the plate, Martin Long playing a canny game found an 8-11 winner to extend at the top again Richard Pascoe 11-10, and Kevin Roberts took best of the day with just a 7-4 winner.

22nov16 late again

9 winners 3 joint best of the day for Annette Berg, Rod Brown & Richard Pascoe all 11-4, Helen Fahey 9-4, Ian Carpenter 4-9, Kieron Badger 8-13, Michael Brook 9-4, Martin long the leader a nice even money consolidation bet, and finally Stuart Bentham 4-5 for 5 points.

Monday 21 November 2016

21nov16 will we ever hear the last of it!

Guess who! i heard someone suggesting he was Britain's greatest ever sportsman - what!

Back to real sport :-) 7 winners for us best of the day was Gerry McCann & Stan Moore both 6-1, Chris Pascoe & Jason McConkey both had the same 9-2 winner, 11-8 winner for Jimmy McGarrity to move him into the cash in 9th, Barry Pemble recovered his mojo with an even money winner and clear 2nd in the plate.  Gary Pascoe managed to keep in front of Chris with a 2-1 winner and closing in on me i managed to stop the rot myself today after a string of losers by sitting out!

NEXT COMP POSSIBLE DATES

We are thinking having a 5 week break across the Xmas and new year period and then starting on Sunday January 8th to finish Saturday 8th April 2017 - which is Grand National Day.

Not really thinking that Aintree would be our meeting up venue given the distance and crowds but only other conceivable meetings we could go to are Lingfield (AW) or Chepstow

Extra idea is that everyone's final bet has to be in the National!!

All to be discussed at the final day - Tingle Creek Day, Sandown 03dec16

Sunday 20 November 2016

20nov16 inside last 2 weeks

7 winners today Jimmy McGarrity with a 10-1 claimed best of the day and reclaimed a place of the leader board as a result.  Ian Carpenter continued his great progress 6 from the past 7 with a 13-8 winner and a move up to 8th spot.

Justin Sercombe the defending champion in the plate showed why he is that by selecting a great 10 point winner in the same race as Stuart Bentham & Barry Pemble who could only both manage 3rd and with Robert Logan 4th in the same race as well that was a great result for Justin - he is only 3rd on number of winners count back 23 to Barry's 26

The other 4 winners were Gary Pascoe 4-9 a definite "must stop the rot" selection after recording  9 consecutive losers,  Kevin Wood 2-5,  Martin Long a nice tactical consolidation bet at the top with a 1-4 winner, and finally Rod Brown 9-4 to take back 3rd place from Carl Dean.

Saturday 19 November 2016

19nov16 Even less!

Just 3 winners on what didn't on the surface look like that tough a day Ian Carpenter moved into 10th with a nice 5-2 winner and gained 5 points on the field in the plate, Kieron Badger best of the day 4-1 & joining him with that honour was Mark Nutting also 4-1.

18nov16 not much action

The whole of the top 12 in the main comp had loser yesterday except Dave Brammer who has had all his bets so no changes this compares to 2nd through 5th in the plate all having winners to pull the long time leader back a little more he looks like he is only there on sufferance now and will be swamped soon but looks like he should still collect cash given he is 61 points ahead of Chris Pascoe with 8 bets more.

So 8 winners in total they were Barry Pemble, Stuart Bentham & Justin Sercombe all on the same 4-5 winner (they have all selected the same horse for Saturday as well!).  Mark Sharman 9-2, Kieron Badger best of the day at 5-1, Jason McConkey & Ian Carpenter both 9-4, Colin Warmington 2-1.

Thursday 17 November 2016

17nov16 another breaks free of the pack

Just 3 winners today but one was a beaute Nigel Clifford 20-1 and zooms up to 2nd spot, interesting only £4.97 behind Martin Long but he has had 4 more bets, still favour Martin but closer than it looks.  Other winners were Carl Dean 11-4 to go 3rd and also 11-4 for Paul Berg to go 13th

Wednesday 16 November 2016

16nov16 Loads of Winners

15 winners today so not listing all those out! Everyone in the top 8 of the plate all scored 5 points and best of the day was joint Chris Pascoe & Stan Moore at 11-2 which lifted Chris up to 7th.

Tuesday 15 November 2016

15nov16 that's a bit better

Dozen winners today with a best of the day for Tommy Smith at 8-1, 1-2 winner for Vince Paige, Stuart Bentham & Barry Pemble, Dave Brammer 5-6, Martin Long consolidating his lead with a 2-5 winner the same as Callum Roberts, Chris Pascoe 5-4, Justin Sercombe & Ian Carpenter both finding a nice 15-8 winner and 10 points and finally Jason McConkey & Ernie Moore both 9-4 capped off a much better day for winners even if the quality was rubbish!

Monday 14 November 2016

14nov16 slow

Just 3 winners today and the stand out was for Celeste Sharman at 15-2 to leap into a cash spot in 9th, the only others to trouble the scorer were Dave Brammer 4-6 and Tommy Smith 6-4.

Sunday 13 November 2016

13nov16 sad day

Two fav horses leave the stage today - sad

Another subdued day really, just 7 winners Annette Berg & Andy Grinter joint best of the day at 6-1, 3 of us Dave Brammer, me & Matt Raven all had the maybe fortunate Le Prezien at 8-11 Ian Carpenter 13-8 and Jason McConkey 9-2 were the final two winners.

So with only a maximum of 20 bets left it means everyone must have had at least 41 bets so far and there is now no restriction on the maximum SP of any winner (up to now for those who haven't ever read the rules even if you had a winner >33-1 it only counted for 33) anyway that rule is finished so go for those 100-1 shots!

13nov16 arrears

Been away!

So despite doing 3 days in one really not that much to report only about 11 winners across the whole period I suppose Rod Brown's move back up to 3rd warrants a small mention

Back on track now

Wednesday 9 November 2016

09nov16 Had to happen

Not Trump! but someone had to eventually get a decent winner and zoom to the top and today it was Martin Long 33-1 to go £17+ clear of a mass of players now in the pack behind him.

Altogether there were 10 winners again so here's the list, Barry Pemble 4-6, Carl Dean 11-8, Colin Warmington 3-1, Gary Pascoe 9-2 that's 4 from the last 5 and moves him nicely into 3rd spot.  The final 5 were Michael Brook & Richard Pascoe both 7-1, Paul Berg 5-4, Robert Logan 4-6, & Tommy Smith 3-1.

Tuesday 8 November 2016

08nov16 All Set

Another political all-nighter coming up for the big US showdown.  I think Trump is going to get it too many people who are polled not admitting that they are going to vote for him Brexit all over!

10 winners for us and the most significant was for Nigel Clifford who in the last 4 bets has had 3 winners 25-1, 6-1, & today 8-1 so he now sits in 4th and is up there as a leading contender especially as he has had loads more bets than those around him.  So a quick run through of the others, Barry Pemble 1-4, Colin Warmington 11-2, Gary Pascoe 4-6, Ian Carpenter 4-7, Justin Sercombe 4-7, Paul Stobbart 100-30, Robert Logan 1-4, Stuart Bentham 4-7, and finally Tom McGarrity 15-8.

Monday 7 November 2016

07nov16 Pretty slow

Usual Monday rubbish so a pretty slow day although the Plate boys found a 10-11 10 pointer they were Robert Logan, Barry Pemble, Stuart Bentham & Chris Pascoe so that just left 3 other winner in top spot was Nigel Clifford at 6-1 to move him onto the leader board in 10th with both Andy Grinter & Michael Brook picking up a 9-2 shot.

Sunday 6 November 2016

06nov16 Anyone's Comp!

Anyone in 25th spot or higher would take over at the top of the leader board with a 20-1 winner, could be one of the most open comps for ages.  There hasn't been a winner of the comp with a total under £20 since #7 that's 35 comps ago in November 2003!

6 winners today with Barry Pemble's 1-2 winner enough to move him 2nd in the plate, Gary Pascoe 11-4 to close up nicely on the leaders in 6th spot.  Joint best of the day for Michael Brook & Kevin Pratt at 100-30, Paul Stobbart 7-4 & Tom McGarrity 11-8 were the last two.

Sad news today about Vautour who died today!

05nov16 Boom!

Zarkandar falls at the last when coming to win his race and I crash to 3rd spot!

Loads of winners another 15 on Saturday including both Rod Brown & Carl dean so they took over in first and second respectively. Won't trawl through all the other 13, highlights were Kevin Pratt 9-1 just his 2nd winner other 9-1 winners were Vince Paige & Richard Pascoe, Helen Fahey at 4-1 was the only other winner above 2-1!

Friday 4 November 2016

04nov16 Big Winners

13 winners in total so won't do them all but need to cover off the biggies Vince Paige picked up a rare winner at 10-1 and most of thought he might pick up best of the day but oh no! then came Gerry McCann at 22-1 who would have thought the same but again beaten by Nigel Clifford & Kevin Roberts who both had the same 25-1 winner - good stuff.  All the top four in the plate had the same 5-4 10 point winner so not much change there.  I sneaked in a 4-6 winner to stay top

Thursday 3 November 2016

03nov16 New Leader

And yes it is me!! I think it was 2005 the last time I was in such a position its a real Leicester City/Chicago Cubs moment.  So there were 3 of us with the same 11-8 winner me, Jason McConkey, Matt Raven, Carl Dean went 3rd with his 9-10 winner, Dave Brammer evens, Helen Fahey 11-4, Kieron Badger 4-7, Mark Nutting 4-1, Pete Long & Tom Feeney both picked a 13-8 shot, & finally Paul Stobbart & Steve Carter both at 7-2 made up the 12 winners today.

02nov16 Wembley

Sorry late been to Spurs at Wembley tonight great stadium crap result and game!

How tight is it at the top of the leader board after Carl Dean & I both picked at 5-4 winner and the others all got a loser.  Now just £1.35 difference between 1st and 5th place!  Best of the day was a very impressive 14-1 winner for Celeste Sharman that brought up a treble and moved her to 8th, other winners were Ben Cheetham 13-8, Colin Warmington 8-1, Gary Pascoe 7-2 to move 7th, Mark Sharman 7-1, and finally Tom Feeney 4-1.

Tuesday 1 November 2016

01nov16 Happy Birthday

To me! 60 today and to celebrate I'm joint best of the day today with Craig Connelly at 7-1 which of course did me a power of good moving me 5th and within striking distance, the only other winner today was Paul Berg at 2-1 that shuffled him up a couple of places to 9th.

Getting very tight and exciting at the top of the table Spenser has had most bets so that probably makes him top given he has had 2 more bets than Rod and is only 25p behind

Off out now for a celebrate!

Monday 31 October 2016

31oct16 Lost a few

A fair few got caught by the Kempton problems so we ended up with only 31 bets but still got 7 winners.  They were Ben Cheetham 7-4 and 4 from the last 5, Barry Pemble 4-5 and a 4 timer, Celeste Sharman brought up a double with a 9-4 winner, Ian Carpenter a nice 10 pointer at 7-2, Justin Sercombe evens, Paul Berg 5-4 to scrape back onto the leader board and finally the best of the day for Tom Feeney at 5-1.

Sunday 30 October 2016

30oct16 slow day

Well apart from the very nice joint best of the days for Celeste Sharman & Steve Carter both 12-1 but different winners.  That was just enough to drag Steve to the foot of the leader board for the first time this comp.  Barry Pemble 2-7 & Justin Sercombe 11-8 were the only other winners both consolidating their positions in the plate.

Very interesting comp as we move into the second half, 20 players are positive and less than £19 between those first and 20th - so anyone's comp well except for Vince :-)

Saturday 29 October 2016

29oct16 Bumper Saturday

14 winners in total and some very nice ones Roger Dore put himself in the leader board picture for the first time this comp with Irish Cavalier at 16-1, two managed Antony at 11-1 they were Carol Carter & Tim Catlin enough to move him up to 4th and only £3.10 off the lead, Jon Curtis warrants a rare mention :-) brought up a double with an 8-1 winner but he needed to.  Robert Logan & Ian Carpenter found a 10 point winner at 2-1 to improve in the plate.  While the favourites in the plate both have 13 bets in hand sometimes when a runner goes clear they don't always get caught and picking 10 pointers will certainly help!

28oct16 new leader

Spenser regains the lead but only by virtue of his non-runner!

6 winners on Friday in total, best of the day was Tommy Smith at 8-1, other 5 were Tom McGarrity 7-2, Terry Matthews 3-1 to return to the leader board, Jon Curtis 9-2, and Stuart Bentham & Barry Pemble both 8-13 to continue reeling in Robert Logan the leader in the plate.

Thursday 27 October 2016

27oct16 2 days

Out last night sorry 7 winners yesterday and just 2 today who were Paul Berg best of the day with 3-1 & Carl dean who brought up a treble and moved 3rd

Tuesday 25 October 2016

25oct16 what a horse!

Thistlecrack and I was the only one to nap it!  11 winners in total including both of the leaders which saw Spenser gain just 10p the best of the day was Ben Cheetham at 11-2 hotly followed by Ernie Moore at 5-1 - too late to do the rest!

Monday 24 October 2016

24oct16 Another single winner

And it is my little girl :-)

Jade Edgington 11-2 only her 2nd winner but well ahead of Vince! on what was a pretty slow day

Sunday 23 October 2016

23oct16 Correction

Sorry Dave Barker had a winner that I missed 4-1- oops

23oct16 Correction

Sorry Dave Barker had a winner that I missed 4-1- oops

23oct16 sublime to ridiculous

First blank day of the comp and there were 41 bets - but just look down the SPs and you see why!

Saturday 22 October 2016

22oct16 Bumper day

16 winners from 46 bets, 1 in 3 pretty good although loads of the short price stuff obliged.

Best of the day was Paul Berg at 8-1 to put him 17th just £1.26 short of the leader board.  There were 3 on Fox Norton at 5-2 they were Andy Vinall, Gary Pascoe & Dave Barker, 4 were on the 10 point 2-5 winner in the first at Punchestown, Stuart Bentham, Barry Pemble, Chris Pascoe, Justin Sercombe.  Helen Fahey 11-4, Jason McConkey 2-1, Jimmy McGarrity 9-2, Sarah Parker 7-2, Kieron Badger 4-1, and three of us Terry Matthews, me and Kevin Wood, all had a 4-6 winner made up the rest.

So lots of changes but all very tight with less than £4 covering all the places from 4th to 11th.

22oct16 Great opening day

Big show for the opening day of the Cheltenham season yesterday Guinness & Sloe gin for breakfast!!

Not such a great day on the winners though best of the day was 6-1 for Callum Roberts, Jason McConkey 3-1, me & Terry Matthews both 6-5, Martin Long 7-2 to move 5th and that was it from 47 bets!

Thursday 20 October 2016

20oct16 New Leader

Just as Vince was saying we haven't had may winners recent we set a new high water mark with 14 today!  The outstanding one was Nigel Clifford who until today was sitting at the foot of the table but not now after his 20-1 winner.  Probably as impressive was the 5-1 winner for Chris Pascoe in a tough 18 runner race his 3rd 10 pointer in a row and moves him 9th overall and onto the leader board in the plate.  Rod Brown also picked up a 5-1 winner to go 35p clear at the top.  Won't do all the others most were pretty short prices.

19oct16 update

Just 5 winners Chris Pascoe & Ernie Moore both 7-4, me 2-5, Pete long 5-4, & finally Kevin Wood 4-6, that's all!

Wednesday 19 October 2016

18oct16 London

Away last might but easy update only 26 bets and only 2 winners Tom Feeney 9-2 best of the day and Dave Brammer 7-2 to go 5th

Monday 17 October 2016

17oct16 so predictable

OK Death Duty was by far the best horse racing today so hard to overlook and most of us didn't!  With Barry Pemble, Chris Pascoe, Justin Sercombe, Ian Carpenter, me, Robert Logan & Stuart Bentham all selecting it at the rewarding price of 1-3 (actually that was good value it never came off the bridle).

So that was 7 of the 9 winners today leaving just Annette Berg & Terry Matthews as joint best of the day with their 9-4 winner sufficient to nudge Terry just up onto the leader board for the first time this comp, nice turnaround.

16oct16 oops forgot

Finished everything this afternoon then forgot to update :-(

9 winners today a few of us on the same 10 pointer at 11-4 (what a great price!) we were Justin Sercombe, me, Ian Carpenter & Stuart Bentham, Andy Grinter picked up an 8-11 winner, Steve Carter at 10-1 secured best of the day to just go positive and sit in 16th, Andy Vinall had another good winner at 17-2 to go 5th, Kevin Wood 7-2 & Gary Pascoe 9-2 made up the 9.

File will be sent out on Monday as I have already started entering the Monday selections that come in overnight!

16oct16 oops forgot

Finished everything this afternoon then forgot to update :-(

8 winners today a few of us on the same 10 pointer at 11-4 (what a great price!) we were Justin Sercombe, me, Ian Carpenter & Stuart Bentham, Andy Grinter picked up an 8-11 winner, Steve Carter at 10-1 secured best of the day to just go positive and sit in 16th, Andy Vinall had another good winner at 17-2 to go 5th, Kevin Wood 7-2 made up the 8.

File will be sent out on Monday as I have already started entering the Monday selections that come in overnight!

Sunday 16 October 2016

15oct16 Late

Sorry out last night and there were some late selections at wolves! So as they all lost we were left with just the 4 winners (6 selection went down on the badly ridden Order of St George).  The best of the day was Dave Klein 13-2, Carl Dean grabbed a 4-1 winner to go 4th, Paul Stobbart 7-4, & Terry Matthews now 3 winners from 4 since he went dormy he now sits in 16th just off the leader board.

Saturday 15 October 2016

14oct16 quickly

7 winners Andy Grinter 6-4, Dave Brammer & Justin Sercombe both 11-8, Maurice Edgington 5-4, Jason McConkey 9-2, Tim Catlin & Terry Matthews both 5-2

Thursday 13 October 2016

13oct16 half a dozen

They were as follows, Jo Hutson 11-4, Kevin Pratt 9-4, Pete Long 7-1, Pat Quinn Jnr 7-2, the leader Spenser Mills pulling away with a 9-2 winner and finally the best of the day for Sarah Parker at 8-1.

Wednesday 12 October 2016

12oct16 Carl bangs in a big one!

Best of the day and a move straight to 6th place was the 14-1 winner for Carl Dean, Terry Matthews now dormy from yesterday popped in his first winner at 7-1 to move close to level, Jimmy also nabbed a 7-1 winner to move 5th and the only other winner was Kevin Wood 7-2 also enough to get him back on the leader board.

Sublime to the ridiculous in the plate today the only points scored by anyone on the leader board was my 2 for a second this evening, perhaps not so exciting then!

11oct16 nil nil lets just give up!

What else is left to say almost worse than the summer!

But all action here with the guys in the plate really slugging it out at the top already nice 10 point winners for Robert Logan, Justin Sercombe, Martin Long & Ian Carpenter to get on the leader board.  Best of the day was recorded by Steve Carter 8-1, Andy Grinter 7-2, Andy Vinall 5-1, Callum Roberts 4-1, Dave Brammer 5-2, Stuart Bentham 4-5, were the rest of today's 10 winners.

Monday 10 October 2016

10oct16 About time

Rooney was dropped that is the national side is no place for sentiment, he's simply not the player he was just look at his performance against Iceland!

7 winners for us Jo Hutson brought up a 4 timer & secured best of the day with a nice 5-1 winner to go 5th, Annette Berg 6-4, Andy Grinter & Dave Brammer both 5-4, Chris Pascoe 9-2 to make the leader board, Martin Long 4-1 to move 4th and finally a very nice 5-2 winner and 10 points for Robert Logan to put a little distance between him at the top of the plate.

Sunday 9 October 2016

09oct16 Anything but Strictly!

Hence the nice early update :-)

9 winners for us today with joint 7-1 winners for Dave Barker and Celeste Sharman who got off the mark.  5 of us all went for the cert 1-3 winner and 5 points those five i hardly need to say but here goes anyway, Robert Logan, me, Barry Pemble, Justin Sercombe & Stuart Bentham (Kevin Roberts sat out).  So that leaves just two more and they were Both on the same winner at 5-1 Gary Pascoe to return to the leader board and Paul Mott to take over back in 2nd.

Excel on its way so with just two extra players from last time the prizes for the plate remain unaltered and the extra hundred has been added to the main comp prize list to extend payouts down to 10th.

Saturday 8 October 2016

08oct16 2 poxy goals!

8 for us! and a phrase not often employed I was joint best of the day with Tom McGarrity at 15-2 that took me up to 7th and tom to 10th.  Other winners were Carl Dean, Jade Edgington & our leader Spenser Mills all 3-1, Dave Brammer 11-10 to sit 6th, Jason McConkey 9-2 & Roger Dore 5-1

Friday 7 October 2016

07oct16 big day

11 winners so too many to list out on a Friday night!

Highlights were 7-1 for Jo Hutson to bring up a treble and 11th place, Jimmy McGarrity also 7-1 to move 7th, Best of the day for Andy Grinter 9-1 and Tim Catlin 8-1 to go 4th.  Mad 5 point bonanza at the top of the plate as a definite gap is opening between top 4 and the rest

Thursday 6 October 2016

06oct16 Welcome back

Anyone ever been to Hereford racing? But welcome back anyway it delivered most of our winners today a total of 7 best of the day was Jo Hutson bringing up a double with a 4-1 winner, Barry Pemble, Justin Sercombe & Robert Logan all at 1-2, Helen Fahey 9-4, Michael Brook 3-1 & Tom Feeney 7-2 so but overall not much movement

Wednesday 5 October 2016

05oct16 Double Day

What's happened I miss one day's update and everyone goes mad 23 winners in total so clearly not going through all those I will just pick out the top 4 or 5 which were Andy Stevens 12-1 today to go 5th, Andy Vinall 10-1 to go 9th, Martin Long 7-1 to go 4th, and the new leader Spenser Mills 15-2.

Some nice performances in the plate with lots of short price winners the stand out was Kevin Roberts who only missed out taking over as the new leader on number of seconds count back after picking 2 winners and 20 points!

Monday 3 October 2016

03oct16 Viva Espana

Another fine total today 9 winners Annette Berg 7-4, Barry Pemble & Paul Stobbart both 8-11, Ian Carpenter 3-1, Martin Long 15-8, Roger Dore 4-1 and best of the day, Robert Logan & Stuart Bentham both 1-2, and finally Tom Feeney 9-4.

Sunday 2 October 2016

02oct16 Another big day

10 winners for us all today from just 33 bets - nice hit rate
Best of the day fell to Andy Stevens at a pretty miserly 9-2 given their were 10 winners! Three had the same 3-1 winner Carl Dean, Jimmy McGarrity & Paul Mott, Gary Pascoe & I both had the very impressive Jet Setting at 7-4, Kevin Wood evens, Paul Stobbart 6-4 and Martin Long & Tom McGarrity both 2-1 were the rest.

Saturday 1 October 2016

01oct16 big winners

11 winners today topped rather unbelievably :-) by Pete Long at 20-1 to record his first winner and go 5th.   Another good one was Kevin Wood 12-1 to move 8th, Jimmy McGarrity, Roger Dore, and me all scored with 7-4 shots, Dave Brammer 11-4 on the very impressive Eternally at Ascot.  Gary Pascoe brought up a double with a nice 9-2 winner to go positive and sit just off the leader board.  The others were Kevin Roberts 4-7, Paul Stobbart 11-2.

30sep16 Come on

All looked so good after the morning sessions then they once again got psyched out it - what is wrong with them, get a grip your at home.

5 winners for us Spenser Mills with his joint best of the day 8-1 put the leader under pressure but Rod duly responded with his own 7-4 winner to retain the lead.  The other joint best of the day was past champ Roger Dore who got off the mark with the same 8-1 winner.  Stuart Bentham another 4-9 shot to go 3rd in the plate.  That leaves Kevin Roberts another joint best 8-1 winner but a 10 pointer to go 2nd in the plate and onto the foot of the leader board

Thursday 29 September 2016

29sep16 All starts tomorrow

9 winners for us today so here goes, Andy Vinall & Gerry McCann both joint best of the day at 9-2, Dave Barker & Mark Nutting both 3-1,  Matt Raven & Spenser Mills both 11-10, Paul Mott 11-4 which meant he closed to within 25p of the leader as Rod had a loser.  The final pair were Stuart Bentham 4-9 & Sarah Parker who got off the mark also with a 3-1 winner.

Poor old Willie Mullins - what must have gone on to cause that can't be just training fees really can it!

Wednesday 28 September 2016

28sep16 Go USA @ Hazeltine

8 winners for us today best a very impressive 12-1 for best of the day and 6th spot on the leader board.  Mark Nutting scraped onto the foot of the leader board with his 7-1 winner and Mark Sharman joined in the fun with a 9-1 winner.  Back at the short priced section were Richard Pascoe 6-4, Spenser Mills & Paul Stobbart both 4-5 and me & Vince Paige both 4-7.

Tuesday 27 September 2016

27sep16 Go Foxes

Just 2 winners today Lee Constable got off the mark with a 7-1 winner and Michael Brook 9-2 to move 6th.  Barry Pemble, an old plate favourite, made his first appearance of the comp on the leader board following his 5 point 2nd - is it just a match between him and Justin or will Robert Logan, Stuart and Vince join in the fray

Monday 26 September 2016

26sep16 Bye Arnie

A class player and nice guy

6 of the best for us today topped by Paul Mott who got off the mark with a cracking 25-1 winner to zoom to 2nd spot.  Plenty of other nice winners Carl Dean 2-1, Colin Warmington 5-1, Dave Brammer 6-1, Mark Nutting 9-2.

Sunday 25 September 2016

25sep16 Nice Day

Well unless you are a West Ham supporter!  8 winners for us best of which Tom McGarrity 8-1 to just nip ahead of dad.  Others were Barry Pemble who went to 4 from 6 with his 5-4 winner, Dave Barker & Ian Carpenter both 5-2, Dave Brammer 3-1 to go 6th, and finally Gary Pascoe, me & Matt Raven all 11-4 meaning I make a rare appearance on the leader board!

Final numbers only 61 after looking like getting into the 70's a fair few who said yes never bothered to send cash and start.

Vince and I will sort out the prizes and they will appear on next weeks excel  but given that there are only 2 more players than the spring comp won't be very different and top prize will remain at £1,100

Saturday 24 September 2016

24sep16 Well got that wrong!

Easy day to report just two winners Spenser Mills brings up a 4 timer with a 5-1 winner to go 2nd beginning to show his class hope he is backing some of these and the only other player to trouble the scorer was Martin Long a very nice 17-2 winner to go 5th and into the cash in the plate.

Strange day what was going on at HQ with all the fancied horses being beaten.  So for me that is 7 naps on horses with SP of evens or worse and so far just only one of then has won!

23sep16 Lady to rule

9.00 Dundalk on a Friday night! thanks Stan :-) and after all that it only came 2nd!

8 winners topped by Dave Klein off the mark with a 17-2 winner but still only enough to lift him to 23rd, Paul Berg moved second with a nice 5-1 winner, Spenser Mills brought up a treble and Matt Raven both had a 7-2 winner.  Steve Carter, Kevin Roberts & Annette Berg all had 11-8 winners and finally Robert Logan had his 6th winner at 5-4 to move nicely clear at the top of the plate.

Friday 23 September 2016

22sep16 That's more like it

Sorry for the slight delay out last night and there were some evening selections

9 winners today best was 8-1 for Spenser Mills two in a row and 4th on the leader board, he was closely followed by Paul Berg 15-2 and 3rd on the leader board.  Three of us picked the same 7-2, 10 point winner, me, Robert Logan & Chris Pascoe, & the others were Stuart Bentham 5-6, Barry Pemble 7-4, Ian Carpenter 9-4, & Dave Brammer 5-2 to feature on both leader boards at this early stage.

Wednesday 21 September 2016

21sep16 not sure this is any better!

6 winners Dave Brammer 11-8, Helen Fahey & Kieron Badger both 5-2, Justin Sercombe a nice 3-1 winner and 10 points to get close to the top of the plate.  Best of the day Pat Quinn Jnr 13-2 and finally Spenser Mills, the reigning champion, gets off the mark with a 9-2 winner.

Tuesday 20 September 2016

20sep16 nodding off!

Just 5 winners again today so same old same old - what a sluggish start to the comp!

Joint best of the day was was just 3-1 and that was for Steve Carter, Carl Dean & Andy Vinall, enough to lift Andy to a cash paying spot on the leader board.  The other two winners were Stuart Bentham & Ian Carpenter both the same 5-6 winner.

19sep16 usual Monday fare

5 winners nothing of note but best of the day award fell to Jimmy McGarrity at just 5-2, Carl Dean got off the mark with a 2-1 winner, Barry Pemble & Robert Logan both had 4-7 winners, Gary Pascoe 5-4 was the only other to trouble the scorer

Monday 19 September 2016

18sep16 Back home!

Sunday saw just 2 winners Martin Long 10-1 to get to the leader board and get off the mark at the same time and Ben Cheetham 7-4 to go 6th.

Excel on its way

Sunday 18 September 2016

Rest of Saturday

The only real significant winner in the rest of the was Jake Fifield who managed to capture the winner of the Gold Cup at 11-1 to go 2nd 13.50 up

Full update later with excel

Saturday 17 September 2016

difficult updating from the Bush!

Andy Stevens only big winner on the Thursday Friday and half of Saturday period at 11-1 whihc took him third

Won't get to this again today so hence half update but loads of naps in the Ayr GC so could change

Wednesday 14 September 2016

14sep16 At LHR

6 winners today Craig Connelly 4-9, Jimmy McGarrity & Annette Berg both 3-1, joint best of the day, Kevin Wood 15-8, Matt Raven 11-8 & Stuart Bentham both 11-8 so nothing that special

Tuesday 13 September 2016

13sep16 That's Better

10 winners today with nice joint best of the winners Craig Connelly & Tim Catlin both at 10-1.  Others were Ben Cheetham 5-2, Callum Roberts & Dave Barker both 9-4, Dave Brammer 7-1, Jo Hutson off the mark with a 9-2 winner, Matt Raven and Richard Pascoe both 8-11 and our leader bangs in another one at 5-2.

So loads of changes on the leader boards as over still have 4 left to pay so final numbers not yet known

Monday 12 September 2016

12sep16 Another slow one

Just 3 winners again joint best of the day for Tim Catlin & Michael Brook 8-1 and Gerry McCann got off the mark with a 2-1 winner.

Sunday 11 September 2016

11sep16 tough day

and an anniversary of the change of the world!

But looked like it was tough for us as well only 3 winners - probably mainly caused by O'Brien's nearly all getting turned over at The Curragh.  The best of the day was Jason McConkey whose 3-1 winner got him off the mark.  The others were Kieron Badger 5-6 but that was enough to get him to the foot of both leader boards, and Stuart Bentham 4-9 also enough to lift him onto both leader boards.

Saturday 10 September 2016

10sep16 First big winner

And it went to rod Brown who was already leading so he zooms clear of the field with his 16-1 winner.  There were 6 other winners Annette Berg & Mark Sharman both 7-2 to both make the leader board,  Helen Fahey & Stuart Bentham both 7-4, Kieron Badger off the mark with a 3-1 shot, and finally Paul Berg 5-2 to go 2nd.

There would have been a fair few more winners if Idaho hadn't stumbled and lost the race when looking in a good position - talk about unlucky!

Friday 9 September 2016

09SEP16 just scraped it in

Friday done on Friday!

5 winners as follows: Ben Cheetham & Colin Warmington both best of the day 6-1, Dave Barker 5-2, Kevin Wood 10-11,  Robert Logan 100-30.

Went down to 69 today as a few haven't replied or said no!

Thursday 8 September 2016

08SEP16 nearly finished

So with one very late result to come for Kieron Badger and I'm going out the day brought 6 winners best was Rod Brown who got off the mark with the best winner so far in this comp at 8-1 to go top, others were Jake Fifield at 4-1 to go 2nd, Maurice Edgington (me) at 3-1 to make a rare appearance on the leader board,  Kevin Roberts & Robert Logan both 4-7, and Dave Brammer 9-2.

Wednesday 7 September 2016

07sep16 steady start here

Can I ask those still not paid to pay ASAP

5 winners today Jimmy McGarrity got off the mark with the best of the day 5-1 and went 3rd giddy heights after the disaster in the last comp :-).  Other winners were Kevin Roberts & Kevin Wood both 13-8, Paul Berg 9-2 to go 3rd and Robert Logan 2-5.

Looks like 4 of the 6 we are waiting for will drop out as no shows so we should be 69

06SEP16 still slow

Just 5 winners today they were Dave Barker 5-1, our leader maintaining his top spot that's Jon Curtis at 2-1, best of the day and now joint leader Michael Brook 13-2, Paul Berg off the mark at 6-4, and finally Paul Stobbart 11-4 to move onto the leader board.

Monday 5 September 2016

05SEP16 Day 2 and growing

Now up to 73 players with just 6 left to confirm so going to be a big one first prize might get up into the region of £1,200

Today saw 4 winners best of the day for Kevin Roberts 4-1, with Ian Carpenter & Stuart Bentham both 8-11 and me off the mark with a magnificent 8-13 winner.  Still 37 players left to have their first bet!

Sunday 4 September 2016

02SEP16 Day 1 Finished

So we are currently at 72 entries but we still have 7 to confirm if playing so sort of expecting that to fall as these guys have not responded to emails and yesterdays reminder text! Hardly suggests they are enthusiastic :-).

So today 27 selections and three winners with Jon Curtis, unusually keen start from him, banging in an 11-2 winner to go top Gary Pascoe 3-1, and Jake Fifield 5-2 were the others starting with a winner. My even money selection missed the break and got turned over so looks like last comps form is continuing!

Won't bother to send email update after just this first day but expect one next Sunday

AND W'ERE OFF!

As at this morning we have an impressive 63 entrants already with 5 waiting for replies they are:

Rod Brown
John Hall
Mark Kelly
Eamon Kelly
Ray Harper

Good luck everyone

Saturday 3 September 2016

COMP #42 ENTRIES UPDATE

Every chance of exceeding the summer comp total and boosting the prizes a little

Carry on finding new converts another 500 and first prize would be 15,000 :-)

Oh and I would have to stop work!

11JUL16 It's over!

A fine tactical masterpiece from Spenser Mills justly won him the prize £1,100 and his name for the first time on the cup after a very close 2nd back in his rooky comp #35 (Jan 14) when he was pipped to the win by Jimmy McGarrity (where he now!).

Small select group at Windsor last night securing a nice spot in the champagne bar - picture to follow

The only other winner on the final day was Pete Long which secured him cash in the plate.

General view was we should take a summer break and target a finish at Sandown on 03dec16 (Tingle Creek) further info will follow after the summer

Have a successful and great summer break

Vince will contact all winners to sort out cash in the next day or two

Sunday 10 July 2016

10JUL16 not much action

Mainly people looking for long shots to try and fluke it!  That is apart from Vince Paige who found a nice even money winner to move back to 4th and Rod Brown 10-1 to move to 18th and give himself a chance of cash if he can find a 18-1 winner tomorrow.

Congratulations to Justin Sercombe who can't now be caught and has won the plate for a prize of £175, although the top 5 is not yet sorted as if Kevin Wood or Mark Sharman finds a 5 point winner both can scrape a 5th place and £50 on number of winners count back over Pete Long, although Mark has bigger fish to fry in the main comp than ponce about for 5th place in the plate.

So just 48p between the two leaders who are both basically a 16-1 winner ahead of the field 1st prize is £1,100 and 2nd prize £400.  But remember last times last day with long shots being banged in.

Finally remember you can pick a horse in any race tomorrow as long as it runs in or before the final race at Windsor which is 9.00pm

See you on course

Saturday 9 July 2016

09JUL16 had to wait for the last!

Only 3 winners today and as I suggested after her 13-2 winner yesterday a couple more 13-2 winners for Annette was all she needed and she banged in the first of those today for best of the day and to get onto the foot of the leader board, Ian Carpenter 1-5 to make it very unlikely he won;t be 3rd in the plate and Roger Dore 5-1 were the other two.

In the plate the top two now will be the top two just the order to decide but Justin only needs 3 points in his last two bets to make sure he wins.  Paul Stobbart is also guaranteed cash.

08JUL16 late ones in

No winners late on so left with just the four.  Kevin Roberts moved up into 7th and a cash spot with a nice 13-2 winner Adam Slater secured best of the day with his 8-1 winner but he still sits near the bottom, the other 2 winners were Helen Fahey 5-2 & Annette Berg 13-2 to move to only £3.95 down and 18th spot not out of it with a couple more of those

Friday 8 July 2016

08JUL16 commentary tomorrow

waiting for late night results but not expecting them to affect the leader boards!

Thursday 7 July 2016

07JUL16 come on Germany

How France are leading is a mystery

We managed 5 winners and by far the most dramatic was the joint best of the day for Mark Sharman 7-1 and that puts him just 48p behind Spenser level bets all to play for.  Tim Catlin was the other 7-1 winner, Tom McGarrity 11-4, Justin Sercombe 11-2 and Gary Pascoe 9-4 were the remaining 3.

Wednesday 6 July 2016

06JUL15 Don't care!

Just 5 winners today and the stand out best of the day to move 4th was Stan Moore 10-1, nice one!  The other 4 were Justin Sercombe & Natasha Tizzano both 4-7, Kevin Roberts 2-1 & Kevin Wood 8-11, Woodster is having a fine end to the comp 9 winners from the last 13 bets.

Anyone coming on Monday night to the final day Vince has cried off running the risk of a Billy no mates night!

05JUL16 6 timer

6 winners on Tuesday but nothing that significant.  The winners were Vince Paige 10-11, Richard Pascoe 5-2, Kevin Wood best of the day 6-1 which I suppose was of note moving him to 9th and into a cash spot, Adam Slater also 6-1 but he is well adrift, Jade Edgington 4-1,  & finally Ben Cheetham 7-2.

Tuesday 5 July 2016

04JUL16 10 timer

Sorry for the delay another laptop disaster new drive being installed overnight

10 winners on Monday they were Ernie Moore best of the day 100-30, Gary Pascoe 3-1, Ian Carpenter 13-8, Justin Sercombe & Kevin Wood both 4-11, Pete Long 2-1 & 10 points, Paul Stobbart & Vince Paige both 6-4, Robert Logan 6-5, & Richard Pascoe 9-4.

Will do Tuesday's in the next 2 hours after evening racing finishes

Sunday 3 July 2016

03JUL16 just one

Just as I was thinking we were going to record a blank day the first of the comp Tom Feeney pops up with our only winner a nice 10-1 shot to move him nicely into 4th spot just 1p behind Paul Stobbart a £50 difference between 3rd and 4th.

Extended the main leader board to include everyone who can catch Brenda Feeney in 9th place and get to cash (9th is £50) with a 12-1 winner!

Last week is upon us i will send excel updates a couple of extra times

Saturday 2 July 2016

02JUL16 you can rely on DE

5 winners today and the stand out was Dave Klein 8-1 again that's 2 x 8-1 and one 10-1 winner in the last four bets!  The four were Vince Paige & Ian carpenter 4-9, Dave Barker also 8-1 and joint best of the day & finally Martin Long 4-1

01JUL16 Friday

6 winners, a rampant Paul Stobbart 9-2 now breaking away from the pack and closing down on the leaders, best of the day was Dave Klein 10-1 to scrape onto the foot of the leader board, Kevin wood 10-11, Matt Raven 5-4 to complete a 6 timer, Richard Pascoe closing a little on the leader with a 5-4 winner & finally Vince Paige 9-4.

Friday 1 July 2016

30JUN16 relentless

By that I mean Paul Stobbart who got to a rare feat with his 8th consecutive winner at 3-1 and also Spenser Mills who again stretched his lead with his 8th winner in 9 bets at 4-6.  There were another 7 winners on top of those 2 and they were, Matt Raven, Kevin Wood & Kevin Roberts all 4-5, Michael Brook 5-4, Jade Edgington 11-4, Ian Carpenter 11-8 and finally the best of the day for Andy Grinter at 9-2 which moved him up to 20th spot.

Wednesday 29 June 2016

29JUN16 What if Wales win - OMG again

6 winners for us today Dave Klein 8-1 for best of the day, Dave Barker & Ian Carpenter both 9-4,  leaving the final 3 winners all on the same 1-2 shot and they were Paul Stobbart, Kevin Wood & Matt Raven.  That's 4 in a row for Matt who could easily be in the thick of it if he hadn't  had 9 forced losers.  Paul Stobbart is certainly in a purple patch as well with 8 winners from the last 10 - nice one

Tuesday 28 June 2016

28JUN16 Still OMG

And a strange day here as well loads of players going for long priced runners, you know something is weird when Justin Sercombe picks a 100-1 shot!  Anyway only 2 winners Annette Berg best of the day and making a bit of a late break for the leader board with 2 winners in the last 5 and including today's 8-1 shot.  Pete long was the only other to record a winner 7-4, and it shuffled him up a spot and back into the cash in the plate.

27JUN16 OMG

Stunned and angry what else can I say - Rooney's last game and Hart?

9 winners for us on Monday 4 players with the same 4-6 winner they were Tom McGarrity, Spenser Mills, Paul Stobbart & Justin Sercombe.  Others were Ben Cheetham 100-30, Jake Fifield 10-1 for best of the day, Kevin Roberts 11-4, Kevin Wood 5-6, Stan Moore 15-2 to go 3rd.

Sunday 26 June 2016

26JUN16 Just 6

Not much action today 3 plate boys all picked the same 2-5 winner they were Justin Sercombe, Paul Stobbart & Ian Carpenter, Minding at 2-5 was the choice Tom McGarrity & Dad picked a 5-2 winner so that leaves Gerry McCann as the best of the day with a 4-1 winner

25JUN16 Democracy wins

No that's not a horse :-)

8 winners in total 3 of those Kevin Wood, Paul Stobbart, & Tom McGarrity all had a 4-6 winner, Ian Carpenter 10-11 and that leaves 4 players all joint best of the day at 7-2 Vince Paige, Steve Carter, Rod Brown & Jimmy McGarrity

Saturday 25 June 2016

24JUN16 Big mover

9 winners with a stand out for Brenda Feeney at 16-1 that zoomed her up to 10th place but as she has had many more bets than those around her that looks a bit false suspect that is really more like a 7th

Also on the mark on Friday were Annette Berg 3-1, Ben Cheetham 2-1, Eamon Kelly 8-1, Gary Pascoe 13-8, Ian Carpenter 8-11, Paul Stobbart & Tommy Smith both 9-2, Spenser Mills nicely extending his lead with an even money winner.

Friday 24 June 2016

23JUN14 Yes Yes Yes what a night

Sorry so captured by the all night politics just couldn't tear myself away better than I could ever have imagined - only sad bit was Steve wasn't here to sit there with me all night like we used to for elections.

So back to the more mundane naps comp! Spenser's tactic has worked,  5 shorter priced winners in a row including today's 2-1 shot and he has gone back top by just 14p OK Mark Sharman has 3 bets in hand but maybe better to be posting a score in the club house?

There we another 12 other winners on the second most successful days total of the whole comp!  so here's a list, Andy Grinter 5-1, Ernie Moore & Jimmy McGarrity both 4-1, Gerry McCann & Richard Pascoe both 100-30, Helen Fahey, Matt Raven & Jason McConkey all 2-1, Kevin Wood 7-4, Robert Logan 8-15, Stan Moore best of the day 8-1, & finally Tommy Smith also 2-1.

Thursday 23 June 2016

22JUN16 Brexit here we come

Just 4 winners today the 10-1 winner secured by Paul Stobbart got him the best of the day and brought up a very nice treble.  The other were Richard Pascoe 7-2, Spenser Mills 9-10, & Gerry McCann 5-2

Tuesday 21 June 2016

21JUN16 mega day

12 winners today Starting with Andy Grinter 8-1, Ben Cheetham 2-1 that's 4 winners from the last 5 for Ben, Ernie Moore a nice little consolidating bet at 5-4 not quiet so little as Spenser's one that won at 1-12!.  Continuing Gary Pascoe 3-1, Helen Fahey brought up a treble with a 5-2 winner too little too late I think, Justin Sercombe & Kevin Roberts both evens, Matt Raven brought up a double with a nice 13-2 winner to sit 20th on -46p, Paul Stobbart returned to the leader board with a nice 5-1 winner & finally tom Feeney 2-1 and a best of the day for tom McGarrity with a nice 9-1 winner but he still sits at -£19.00!

20JUN16 football took over

Assume you all guessed why no update Monday night and expect the same next week :-)

Anyway 9 winner and here they are Paul Stobbart top of the list 9-2, Martin Long 4-1, Vince Paige 7-2, Steve Carter, Richard Pascoe & Helen Fahey all 3-1, Spenser Mills 15-8, Brenda Feeney 7-4, & finally and least Matt Raven 10-11.

Sunday 19 June 2016

19JUN16 Fathers Day :-)

7 winners today and a very rare occasion I (jointly with Brenda Feeney) had best of the day a 9-1 winner as a measure of how bad I have been that still only lifts me to 52nd spot - LOL, however for Brenda it was much more significant taking her positive and just off the leader board in 16th.

The other 5 winners were Tom Feeney 4-1 to lift a spot and go above Vince Paige into 4th, a nice 4-6 winner for 2nd place Spenser Mills a good tactic to reel the leader in, Ben Cheetham brought up a treble with a 7-2 shot the same winner as Colin Warmington and finally Helen Fahey 11-10.

Saturday 18 June 2016

18JUN16 final day

Sweeping in with a great get out of jail for the meeting in the lucky last was Stan Moore 12-1 and the best of the day - it lifted him into the final money spot 9th.  There were 5 other winners and they were Ben Cheetham bringing up a double at 5-2, Carol Carter 11-4, Roger Dore finally and belatedly getting off the mark with a 7-4 shot, Toby Griffiths with a nice 10-1 winner his second of the royal meeting & finally Tommy Smith 7-1 to move positive and into 16th just one spot and 13p off of the leader board.

17JUN16 New Leader

Mark Sharman takes over at the top one of five players who picked Kinema at 8-1 yesterday, the other four were Carol Carter, Mark Nutting, Tim Catlin (having a very good Royal Ascot 3 from 4 winners so far) & Kevin wood to move himself back onto the leader board.  Ben Cheetham 7-4, Brenda Feeney 7-1, Best of the day for Jon Curtis 16-1 were the other winners on a good day for the team.

Thursday 16 June 2016

16JUN16 Days 2 &3

First Wednesday, just 5 winners Spenser Mills 5-1 so extended his lead, Tim Catlin brought a well needed double with a nice 10-1 winner the best of the day.  The other 2 were Justin Sercombe 2-1, Gerry McCann & Rob Brown both 11-4.

Today was a little better 6 winners Annette Berg 11-2, Gary Pascoe 15-8, Helen Fahey & Ian Carpenter both 10-11. Mark Sharman best of the day 13-2, which closed the gap at the top again, Natasha Tizzano 7-4 to move up a few spots.

Go England - looks like we are going to win it then :-)

Correction to Monday

Firstly I'm back in action and nice one England

Ernie Moore had a 14-1 winner that wasn't recorded, the story was that he timed his horse as 7.30 Roscommon an abandoned race so I recorded a NR, actually it was running in the 8.30 which did go off and it won.  That is an acceptable circumstance so the 14-1 has been credited it lifts him to 6th.

FYI - if I didn't allow horses selected that were mistimed or misspelt then half the selections wouldn't count :-)

I'm now going to catch up

Tuesday 14 June 2016

14JUN16 Day1 Ascot

43 bets today and all but three of them were at Royal Ascot, however the best success came from those 3, Natasha Tizzano found a cracking 16-1 winner to zoom up to 11th.  She was one of 8 winners four winners were 6-1 Vince Paige, Tim Catlin, Ernie Moore, & Toby Griffiths.  The final 3 were Matt Raven, Robert Logan & Richard Pascoe who all had the very impressive Caravaggio at 13-8.

13JUN16 3 points on Thursday then!

4 winners for us on a pretty disrupted Monday, they were Tommy Smith 13-8, Justin Sercombe 4-9, Ben Cheetham 11-4, and super best of the day 11-1 for Mark Nutting.

Sunday 12 June 2016

12JUN16 Very Quiet

Just 3 winners today Justine Sercombe 2-1, Richard Pascoe again 8-11 and Ian Carpenter 4-5, so rather surprisingly Justin gets best of the day.

Quite a lot of players gone dormy this week we now have 13 people with 29 bets to have in the final 29 days so watch out for forced losers and check the excel in case it is you!

I will swap across shortly to show number of bets remaining on the leader board, probably when the maximum odds restriction goes in 8 days time.

11JUN16 both excellent

That's the rugby and football teams what a result in Brisbane! and well played in Marseille if unlucky.

6 winners joint best of the day for Dave Klein & Andy Grinter 10-1 for them both, Annette Berg 11-2, Richard Pascoe 7-2, Helen Fahey 11-4, Gary Pascoe 5-2 to nudge up one place to 6th.

Saturday 11 June 2016

10JUN16 Friday

Just 3 winners and a new leader Spenser Mills took over top spot with a 5-1 winner, Paul Stobbart 8-11 & Kevin Roberts 8-11 was it!

Thursday 9 June 2016

08 & 09JUN16 double day

Sorry major laptop disaster last night but now sort of repaired!

Wednesday just 4 winners and 3 of them the same 10 point 11-4 winner for Vince Paige, Justin Sercombe & Ian Carpenter, leaving just Richard Pascoe with a 3-1 winner his 5th in a row to take the best of the day prize and move onto the leader board.

Today there were 7 winners Justin Sercombe & Mark Sharman the same 8-11 winner, Pete Long  & Matt Raven the same 2-1 winner.  Best of the day went to Adam Slater with an 8-1 winner but more significant of the day fell to Spenser Mills 13-2 to go 2nd and not far behind.  Finally there was Richard Pascoe again to bring up his 6 timer with an even money shot.

Tuesday 7 June 2016

07JUN16 How to ruin your image!

So Vardy needs to leave because the £70,000 per week is not enough because he is now 29 and needs to earn while he can!  So the five years of the LCFC deal with a total of £17.5m is not enough for him to survive and he has to have more.  Come on the cheers for the band of brothers must be  still ringing in his ears - does no one actually say to him there's more than cash.  Lets hope his stall is about him weighing that up.

5 winners for us today Gary Pascoe 10-11 enough to lift him a place to 7th, Jade Edgington best of the day 11-4, Jason McConkey & Paul Stobbart both 2-1, Pete Long 2-7,

Monday 6 June 2016

06JUN16 Nein

OK what famous sketch in what show?

9 winners Justin Sercombe nice 10 pointer to draw clear in the plate Kevin Roberts the same as well.  The transformation of Richard Pascoe continues as he brought up his 4 timer with a winner at 3-1 that was also Martin Long's selection and they shared the best of the day.  The rest were Annette Berg 9-4, Gary Pascoe & Ian Carpenter both 5-6, Kevin Wood also now close to even so in the hunt after today's a 7-4 winner, and finally Robert Logan 2-5.

Sunday 5 June 2016

05JUN16 Bad Luck Andy

Just 3 winners today Vince Paige 4-7,  Richard Pascoe brought up a treble with a 7-2 winner, that's 3 from 5 since he went dormy & best of the day for Pete Long 4-1 and a lift up to 10th.

Saturday 4 June 2016

04JUN16 New leader

Just 6 winners Paul Stobbart 8-11, Tom Feeney did bring up his 6 timer with an 11-8 winner and the other 4 winners were as below in the Derby a 4 way best of the day tie.  So that gave Mark Sharman the chance to go top.

Summary of Derby Selections

Naps today in the big race

Idaho - AB
Massatt - AG, PM, TMg
Red Verdon - CCa, CCo
Moonlight Magic - CW, EM, T, ASt
US Army Ranger - JMc
Ulysess - M
Harzand - MS, TM, G, RP
Humphrey Bogart - V
Deauville - RB
Port Douglas - MN

Interesting that there are none for the favourite!

03JUN16 Busy Busy

48 bets today and 13 of them at late evening meetings hence the update this morning.  Need to report a mistake yesterday (Thursday) missed Pete Long's 8-1 winner which as you can see returns him to the foot of the leader board.

Back to Friday 6 winners and only one that we really need to concentrate on that was Spenser Mills 25-1 to zoom him up 11 places on the leader board from 14th to 3rd and just 16p off Mark Sharman in 2nd with one bet in hand.  Actually worthy of serious mention is Tom Feeney who brought up a 5 timer with a 10-11 winner.  Others were Paul Mott, Richard Pascoe & Andy Stevens all 11-2, and finally Robert Logan 10-11.

Friday 3 June 2016

02JUN16 8 winners

Strong day, best prize went to Jake Fifield with a nice 12-1 winner to move swiftly up to 5th place and well in the mix for a decent prize.  Three players napped the same 4-5 winner they were Annette Berg, Justin Sercombe, & Tom Feeney who brought up a 4 timer and scraped onto the plate leader board as well.  Other winners were Craig Connelly 5-1, Gerry McCann 2-1, Rod Brown 4-1 & finally Tommy Smith 5-1 just enough to put him at the foot of the leader board.

Derby Thoughts

Clearly not founded on great performance in recent tipping!

But for me I think you have to end up on Ulysses (7-1 NRNB Bet365) cracking performance at Newbury last month preceded by a nice 2nd to a subsequent winner who has an entry in the Irish Derby.

Cloth of Stars, great breeding but French!

US Army Ranger are Aidan's horses quite as good this year and if it is that good a horse how come Moore isn't already up for the ride, surely if it was nailed on that decision would have already been made? If it is a toss up between US and Deauville then on the basis they are not both going to be great then surely neither is therefore a Derby winner?

The favourite Wings of Desire could that just be sentimental Frankie betting? and running in an evening meeting at Wolverhampton first time up! OK Dante win looks good but it sure ain't going to be good to firm Saturday

Massaat a fairy story if it won but Burrows only has had half a dozen runners in his own right surely he can't go and win this

If I had to look elsewhere then Moonlight Magic, OK Godolphin doesn't really have to worry about the cost of supplementing it but Bolger started season well and he has been running great at Leopardstown I'm ignoring the 5th first time out this year in the heavy plenty of excuses that day. Each Way i suppose to be safe

01JUN16 England 9-2

That's the price in a treble for them to win all three group games :-(  given my performance in this comp 57th out of 59 I think I need a new betting medium!

We managed 5 winners between us Eamon Kelly best of the day and he got off the mark with a 7-1 winner, Colin Warmington 7-2, Helen Fahey 5-4, Michael Brook 11-4, and bringing up a quick fire treble our 3rd place man Tom Feeney with a 15-8 winner slowly bridging the gap to the leading trio.

Tuesday 31 May 2016

31MAY16 abandonment disruptes

Lost loads of bets as Leicester was abandoned leaving just  17 live bets + the 4 forced losers for the dormy set.  So that left us with just 3 winners Tom Feeney 11-4, Paul Stobbart 5-2, to move back to the foot of the leader board in 15th and Paul Motty a nice best of the day 8-1 winner.

The 6 players now dormy are Kevin Dighton, Gerry McCann, Jon Curtis, Richard Pascoe, Eamon Kelly & Terry Matthews

Monday 30 May 2016

30MAY16 Well Done Alastair

I suppose a bit of a momentous day for us cricket fans best ever?

For us we scraped up 7 winners 4 of them were the same 2-5 Ballinrobe winner they were Ian Carpenter, Kevin Roberts (for a 5 timer), Justin Sercombe & Vince Paige.  Among the main players we saw Gerry McCann picked up an 11-4 shot and and move to 14th, Martin Long & Tom Feeney both 9-2 for joint best of the day.

29MAY16 All gone away

Just 23 bets and 3 winners best was Vince Paige to rise to 4th with a 9-2 winner, the other two were Kevin Roberts bringing up a 4 timer with his 6-4 winner and also 6-4 was Paul Stobbart which moved him a spot in the plate.

Saturday 28 May 2016

28MAY16 a nice few

7 in total starting with Helen Fahey & Jason McConkey both 9-4, Ian Carpenter & Kevin Roberts both evens, that brought up a treble for Kev.  Best of the day honours went to John Hall 7-1, Kevin Wood continued his progress through the field again with a 5-2 winner to go 13th and finally Rod Brown 15-8.

Got a wedding tomorrow so probably no Sunday update until Monday lunchtime

27MAY16 Go Wednesday

8 winners on Friday we had 3 players in the plate all picking up a nice 10 pointer at 4-6, they were Ian Carpenter, Justin Sercombe to move top and Pete Long.  In the serious comp the 8-1 winner for Jake Fifield did him a power of good putting him back in the top 10 and that was the best of the day, other winners were a nice consolidating 10-11 for Kevin Roberts in 3rd spot,  Kevin Wood continues to make upward progress this time with a 2-1 winner he is now 16th, Tom McGarrity 5-2, Tim Catlin 7-2 were the final two.

Thursday 26 May 2016

26MAY16 another slow one

Just 3 winners again Gerry McCann 12-1 was the stand out moving him nicely onto the leader board in 14th, in fact the only move in any place on either leader board!  Justin Sercombe closed in on Vince Paige in the plate with a 4-7 winner and 10 points, leaving Kevin Roberts as the only other winner with a 2-1 shot to consolidate in 3rd.

Oh in case I forget VOTE LEAVE!

Wednesday 25 May 2016

25MAY16 slow day

Just 3 winners and one stand out, that was for Ernie Moore 12-1 to go 9th.  Mark Sharman 3-1 to close up nicely on the leader in 2nd and Justin Sercombe 8-11.

Tuesday 24 May 2016

24MAY16 just 4 again

Best of the day trophy goes to Tom Feeney with a nice 8-1 winner to move into the top 10, also winners for Ray Harper 7-2, Tim Catlin 11-4, & Vince Paige 2-9!

Monday 23 May 2016

23MAY16 champ shows his colours

The reigning champ flexes his muscles but still missed the best of the day despite his 16-1 winner but it was enough to move him into the top 10.  Best of the day was Kevin Roberts 25-1 to zoom up to 3rd, another good winner was Carol Carter 9-1 three of a total of 8 winners on the day.  Four saddos backed the 1-12 winner at Sligo they were me, Vince Paige, Justin Sercombe, & Ian Carpenter.  The final success was for Terry Matthews at 5-2.

Sunday 22 May 2016

22MAY16 Saturday & Sunday

For me the best bet of the weekend was Gary Pascoe today selecting the winner of the 1000g at the Curragh it was very hard to see beyond the 4-11 fav so great 9-1 winner to take him 5th.  Only 4 winners in total on each day, so Sunday saw me 9-4,  Natasha Tizzano 13-8 & Martin Long 6-5.

Saturday we had Vince Paige 5-4, Tim Catlin getting off the mark at last with a 7-2 winner,  Justin Sercombe 4-7 & Ernie Moore with the best of the day 9-2.

Just back

Double update coming mid evening

Saturday 21 May 2016

20MAY 16 just 4

Only 4 winner Friday Jon Curtis got off the mark with the best of the day 7-1 winner, Kevin Wood brought up a treble and arrived on the leader board for the first time this comp with a 11-4 winner, Lee Constable 9-4 & Matt Raven 2-1 were the only other 2!

Friday 20 May 2016

19MAY16 Couple of nice ones

Our 2nd place runner, Mark Sharman, pulled clear of the pack with a 16-1 winner to close the gap on the runaway leader Paul Berg.  Tom Feeney 14-1 to move 8th, Martin Long & Kevin Wood both 5-1 and Steve Carter 9-4 were the only other winners

Wednesday 18 May 2016

18MAY16 Quick update

7 winners Vince Paige 10-11, Craig Connelly 9-1, Kevin wood 4-1, Jimmy McGarrity & Matt Raven 3-1, Mark Sharman 5-2 to retake 2nd spot & finally Natasha Tizzano 4-7.

Tuesday 17 May 2016

17MAY16 slow one

But more importantly I looked at Derby to win 4-0 earlier tonight at 80-1 and talked myself off it and they are 2-0 up I could be well upset  in 30 minutes!

Only 4 winners today and nothing special Andy Grinter brought up a treble with his even money winner, Dave Barker captured best of the day with a 4-1 winner and went +£1.00 in the process, Gary Pascoe 7-2 to move to 8th and finally Ian Carpenter 8-15 to scrape back onto the foot of the plate table.

All in all pretty quiet

Monday 16 May 2016

16MAY16 OK that's enough

Yes it was amazing Leicester won the Premiership blah blah blah - we've had enough now move on!

6 winners today Steve Carter who I missed from the blog report yesterday, sorry followed with another 11-8 winner today which was enough to take him 2nd.  Jake Fifield 6-5, Lee Constable 3-1, Ian Carpenter 7-4,  Dave Barker 5-2, & Andy Grinter 11-8 were the other 5.

Our first player went dormy today Eamon Kelly

Sunday 15 May 2016

15MAY16 'Tis now!

Paul Berg does it again 6-1 so that's 6-1, 16-1, 12-1, 4-1, & 6-1 winners in the past 6 bets I think that may be the best run of decent priced winners ever in the comp and probably really does deserve to go on and win.   I suppose the risk is that with so many bets left and people moving to look for higher priced winners a couple could pop out of the pack late on.  Back to today there were 10 winners in total so the 9 others were, Andy Grinter & Kevin Roberts both 4-6, Adrian Hunt 13-2 to take him back to exactly level, Jake Fifield 4-1 to return to the leader board, Kevin Wood & Mark Sharman both 7-4, Lee Constable 11-4, & finally Ray Harper got off the mark with a 3-1 winner.

Excel on its way

14MAY16 is it all over?

Has the leader slipped the field? Paul Berg slots in another great winner 16-1 to go just about £23 clear.  so apart from that hammer blow from Paul there were 5 other winners Ernie Moore 7-2 enough to make the foot of the plate leader board, his 3 winner from the last 4 bets, Jade Edgington 9-4, a nice 12-1 winner for Martin Long to take him positive, Rod Brown 7-2 and Vince Paige 9-4 & 10 points enough to pout him top of the plate.

Saturday 14 May 2016

12MAY16 didn't miss much!

6 winners joint best for Pete Long & Paul Stobbart at 15-8, long odds on winners at 4-11 for Ernie Moore & Justin Sercombe, Kevin Roberts & Natasha Tizzano both 6-5 were the final two.

Thursday 12 May 2016

12MAY16 no Derby winners there!

7 winners today and some of note Jason McConkey was the big mover rising to 4th after posting an 8-1 winner the same winner as Kevin Roberts that moved him to the foot of the leader board.  Brenda Feeney also returned to the leader board in 13th after her 100-30 winner.  Others were Vince Paige 6-4, Tom Feeney 10-11, Paul Stobbart and finally the best of the lot for Adrian Hunt 10-1

Wednesday 11 May 2016

11MAY16 All change

New leaders, 16 winners so just a few highlights.  Joint best of the day for Paul Berg & Stan Moore on the same 12-1 winner & a all round good day for the Berg's as Annette got in on the act with a 9-1 winner to make the leader board as well.  Among the others Carol Carter got off the mark with a 9-4 winner and another husband and wife double as Steve brought up a double with a 4-5 winner.

Tuesday 10 May 2016

10MAY16 slow day

Just 24 bets today and only 4 winners clearly out front with the best of the day was Mark Sharman  15-2 and enough to take him top.  The others were Steve Carter 3-1, Vince Paige 4-11, and Jake Fifield 11-8.  Gary Dighton one of the long standing regulars pulled out today so that leaves us at 59.

Monday 9 May 2016

09MAY16 33% win % today

10 winners from just 30 bets pretty much helped by 5 selections for Minstrels Gallery that won at 13-8, the five were Gary Pascoe, Natasha Tizzano Maurice Edgington, Spenser mills & Richard Pascoe.  Best of the day and off the mark in style was Mark Nutting 12-1 to go £1.00 up in 21st, Paul Berg kept up the good recent work with a 4-1 winner that would have taken him top if Spenser had missed so he sits just 2nd.  Finally there was Paul Mott 9-2,  Kevin Wood 11-8, & Kev Roberts 3-1.

Sunday 8 May 2016

08MAY16 That was it!

The English summer I mean!

Just 4 winners today all affecting one or other of the leader boards Gary Pascoe 9-2 to move from 15th to 10th, Paul Berg best of the day 6-1 to move to 4th, Stan Moore 5-2 to nudge up to 6th and finally Ian Carpenter with a quick weekend double to get back onto the plate leader board.

Correction

Vince had a winner yesterday that I missed (it came in Friday night and i don't often look back)  well anyway apologies it was a nice 8-1 winner so moved up to 4th.

Saturday 7 May 2016

07MAY16 Can't hit a barn door

I sit in a plucky 55th place and I backed West Ham to win :-(

4 winners today and best of the day a slightly out of character 6-1 winner for Ian Carpenter not enough for the bottom of the leader board but is now positive on +75p.  Jason McConkey continued his good streak with a 5-2 winner that's 4 from the last 5 and he moves up to 8th.  The other two were 100-30 (that's 10-3 for you young people!) for Jimmy McGarrity & 4-5 for Robert Logan.

I used to like those old prices 100-6, 100-7 it was always a good way of scraping a bit extra on the rails in the days when  they wrote it all down with a pencil.

Friday 6 May 2016

06MAY16 slow start on the wine tonight!

6 winners today 4 of the were Dartmouth at evens and the 4 were Adam Slater, Jason McConkey, Kevin Wood & Tom McGarrity, Jake Fifield reappeared on the leader board in 8th after a 9-2 winner but the best of the day was for Gary "Gazza" Pascoe at 12-1 to put in his first leader board appearance in 14th.

05MAY16 some action

9 winners and quite a bit of movement on the leader boards as a result.  Top was Carl Dean returning to the top 10 in 10th with a 10-1 shot, Tom McGarrity got off the mark with an 11-2 winner the same as Tommy Smith who went 3rd as a result.  Three players picked the same 11-4 winner Pete Long, Jason McConkey & Rod Brown, Paul Stobbart & Steve Carter both had 3-1 winners enough for 2nd in the plate and 3rd in the main comp respectively.  Finally Matt Raven scrapped onto the leader board with his 7-2 winner.  Well done us much better a profit of 8.75 points on the 39 bets placed.  Unlucky loser of the day was Mark Sharman whose 9-2 shot lost by a nose caught on the line

Wednesday 4 May 2016

04MAY16 Still nothing scintillating!

5 winners Ben Cheetham 13-8, Carl Dean & Martin Long both 11-4 and joint winners of the best of the day, Dave Klein & Kevin Wood both 5-2.  so again very little movement on the leader boards Dave Klein nudged up a place or two and that's it.  Roger Dore unluckily missed getting off the mark when his 22-1 selection finished 2nd by a short head.

Time to go and listen to the CL match and see Man City fluke a goal in the last 5 minutes and go through on away goals :-)

Tuesday 3 May 2016

03MAY16 another treble

Mark Kelly 7-1, Natasha Tizzano 11-4, Robet Logan 5-1 and that's all!

Monday 2 May 2016

02MAY16 A Little Better

7 winners today and a couple of note in particular Andy Grinter 10-1 to get off the mark and just scrape onto the bottom of the leader board in one fell swoop!  Jason McConkey & Jimmy McGarrity both 13-8,  Dave Barker 6-1 to sit 16th, Natasha Tizzano & Spenser Mills both rather strangely picking a 1-5 winner and finally Rod Brown 7-2.

Sunday 1 May 2016

01MAY16 and again

Another toughie just 3 small winners Pete Long & Paul Stobbart both 11-10 and both brought up a treble leaving Martin Long's 7-4 winner as the best of the day

Saturday 30 April 2016

30APR16 Tough Day

Just 3 winners but one of those was a stunner 14-1 for Paul Berg to shoot him up to 7th, the others were Pete Long 13-8 & 10 points to go 2nd in the plate & Paul Stobbart 8-13.

Naps-compers at Punchestown today

L to R Woodsters, Gazza, Martin & Wookie

Friday 29 April 2016

29APR16 Wine is calling!

10 winners today Andy Stevens brought up a double with a 7-2 winner and Ben Cheetham a treble with his 4-7 shot.  Dave Barker & Pete Long both 11-2 for joint best of the day, Ian Carpenter 15-8, Jason McConkey 11-8, Maurice Edgington 4-5, Paul Stobbart 4-6, Robert Logan 4-1 & finally Stan Moore 13-8 enough to take 4th spot from Brenda Feeney.

Thursday 28 April 2016

28APR16 and again another good one

7 winners again and Mark Sharman followed up his winner yesterday with the best of the day 14-1 winner today to sit 2nd and challenging Spenser for the lead.  Spenser himself also brought up a treble with a nice consolidating 11-8 winner today along with Michael Brook 5-4 Ben Cheetham 7-4 and Vince Paige 9-10.  Also keeping pace with the leaders is Steve Carter who moved 3rd with a very nice 12-1 winner and finally our defending champion Andy Stevens got off the mark with a 10-1 shot to sit just one place off the leader board in 16th.

Wednesday 27 April 2016

27APR16 That's more like it!

Loads of big winners today topped out by Tommy Smith 16-1 closely followed by Spenser Mills 14-1 to go top and Natasha Tizzano to go 8th.  Others joining in the fun were Ben Cheetham 11-4, Colin Warmington 5-2, Jake Fifield 7-1 to go 9th, Mark Sharman the same 7-1 winner to go 12th for his first appearance on this times leader board.

7 nice winners!

26APR16 bad showing on day one

Jake Fifield & Nigel Clifford both 6-1, Spenser Mills best of the day at 12-1 to make his first appearance on the leader board, Michael Brook 7-2, & finally  Lee constable got off the mark with a nice 8-1 winner.  And that was it nothing at Punchestown at all!

Monday 25 April 2016

25APR16 Go Spurs

6 winners today in the Jumps close season!!  Vince Paige & Justin Sercombe both picked an 11-10 winner, Kevin wood 5-4, Michael Brook moved up to 5th with the best of the day 5-1 winner.  The final pair were Martin Long 3-1 & Matt Raven 9-2 which was enough to move Matt to 7th.

Sunday 24 April 2016

24APR16 quiet one

Just 4 winners today 85-40 for Rod Brown and the best of the day kudos, also Craig Connelly & Matt Raven both 6-4 and Paul Stobbart 8-11 and that was it!

Excel on its way

Saturday 23 April 2016

23APR16 biggest winner so far

We notched up an impressive 11 winners today with some very nice ones among them.  Clearly top of that list was Stan Moore's 16-1 winner to move him to 3rd as Brenda Feeney backed up her comment at Ascot at the end of the last comp that "this was easy" by banging in a 8-1 winner to go top.  Dave Klein (along with Gary Pascoe, Natasha Tizzano & Spenser Mills) picked their horse that won very easily at Wolverhampton earlier tonight at 11-8.

The other 5 winners were Ben Cheetham, Carl Dean & Craig Connelly on the very pleasing 11-10 winner Sprinter, Gerry McCann 9-2 to move to 5th and finally Toby Griffiths 5-1 to make his first appearance on the leader board.

I think a well done us today! and even though Henri Parry Morgan, my nap, fell in the Whitbread I did get 10-1 this morning! that will win next year

22APR16 all change

9 winners on Friday and lots of movement on both leader boards although Dave Klein remains top of the main comp.  Joint best of the day at 6-1 were Colin Warmington & Tom Feeney.  Adrian Hunt got off the mark with a 5-2 winner, Adam Slater 8-11, Ernie Moore 7-2, John Hall & Paul Berg both 11-10, Justin Sercombe took over at the top of the plate and maintained his 100% strike rate with a 5-2 winner and 10 points, & finally Mark Sharman got off the mark with a 4-1 winner.

Friday 22 April 2016

Friday update will be Saturday mrning

Sorry!

21APR16 another 7

Justin Sercombe & Jade Edgington both selected the same 11-8 winner for 10 points to both make the leader board on the plate.  Four people, Richard Pascoe, Carl Dean, Jake Fifield & Matt Raven all selected the same even money winner.  The other winner and best of the day was Jason McConkey 15-8.

Apologies for the late update out last night and also to Rod Brown for missing his 5-1 winner yesterday

Wednesday 20 April 2016

20APR16 Loads of winners

8 winners today and best was the fine 9-1 shot from Brenda Feeney to go 3rd.  Others were Vince Paige 10-11 to go to the top of the plate, Kevin Wood & Dave Barker both off the mark with a 3-1 winner, Mark Kelly & Paul Berg both 9-2 to send Mark 6th, Martin Long DH for 1st at 2-7 and finally Paul Stobbart also 3-1 to move onto the leader board as well.

Tuesday 19 April 2016

19APR16 Slow one

Just 4 winners today 2 of the Justin Sercombe & Ian Carpenter 1-9 clearly seeking 5 points for the plate, Jason McConkey moved up the leader board with a 2-1 winner but best of the day was Steve Carter 5-1 to zoom up to 3rd.

Monday 18 April 2016

18APR16 Solo

Sorry its late but some evening selections and they clashed with the stunning performance by Spurs tonight that I had to watch!

So just one winner to report that was Michael Brook a very nice little 7-1 winner to go 4th

Sunday 17 April 2016

17APR16 6 of the best

Pretty standard stuff today best of the day went to Mark Kelly 9-2 to move onto the leader board, Pete Long 11-4, Jason McConkey 15-8, Jade Edgington 1-2, Vince Paige & Ian Carpenter 1-8 :-).  Not sure I understand selecting a 1-8 shot if you are aiming for the main comp but hey better than mine!

Still a few left to have their first bet but all regulars so looks tactical - excel will be sent later tonight

Saturday 16 April 2016

16APR16 Grand Result

For Cheltenham Town of course who become the first team for 25 years to bounce straight back into the league at the first attempt after they secured the National League Championship today at Whaddon Road 2-0 against Halifax:

Back at the racing Vince Paige launched his "I'm not doing the plate this time" attempt to win the main comp in style with The Scottish National winner at 14-1 to only go 2nd as Dave Klein picked a 9-4 winner to stay out front.  Brenda Feeney put Tom Feeney in his place after his winner yesterday with a 11-2 winner herself to go 6th.  John Hall 9-4, Spenser Mills & Stan Moore both 5-2, and Gerry McCann 3-1 were the other 4 winners.

Friday 15 April 2016

14APR16 Another slow day

4 winners and not much doubt who secured the best of the day Steve Carter got off the mark with a nice 9-1 winner this evening, others were Tom Feeney 9-2, John Hall 5-4 & Robert Logan who's trip to Newbury was spoiled but at least he got off the mark.

Villamora update Day 1

Round abandoned after 9 holes - too much liquid around!

Thursday 14 April 2016

14APR16 Boys on tour

The unofficial Naps Comp Golf trip starts today in Villamora - 19 players might post the results here if I hear from Vince.

Only 4 winners today best was Ernie Moore 8-1 to zoom to 2nd and top of the plate, the others were Matt Raven 3-1 and Jason McConkey & Tommy Smith both 100-30

Wednesday 13 April 2016

13APR16 Another Six

Six winner again but from 28 players today.  Best of the day to go 2nd was Pete Long, closely followed by Annette Berg with her 9-2 winner to go 3rd.  Paul Stobbart & I continued to pick the same winners today at 4-9, the others were Michael Brook 3-1 and Ian Carpenter 13-8.

Pete Long is only 3rd in the plate on count back.

Gathered in another two players during the day today, welcome to Ernie Moore, Stanley's brother and welcome back Mark Kelly.  Shame the Quinn clan, very regular players, are all missing this one, currently on the 59 total including the two yet to pay.

Tuesday 12 April 2016

12apr16 Day one doesn't disappoint

As usual a slow start just 18 players out of the 57 we are expecting as the final total.  But not slow for Dave Klein who puts us all on the back foot with an opening day 16-1 winner.  5 other winners Paul Stobbart & me both 5-4 Jimmy McGarrity 15-8, Craig Connelly 5-1 to go 2nd and finally Rod Brown 3rd with his 9-2 winner.

Lets get cracking and reel him straight back in!

Monday 11 April 2016

Ready - under starters orders

So looks like an increased number over last year at the moment looks like 60 entries.

We welcome a few new first time compers, Carol Carter & Brenda Feeney who both were at Ascot on the final day, Robert Logan, Adrian Hunt, Gerry McCann, & Toby Griffiths.  Also welcome back to a few returners, Craig Connelly, Jade Edgington, John Hall, & Adam Slater.

Good luck everyone especially me!

Sad in the Extreme

So obviously missing the daily update task and too many long flights has meant I have sat and done a complete analysis of all 40 naps comps we have held and here are the highlights!

We have had a total of 186 people play in the 40 events completed that amounts to 83,931 naps generating a total of 13,508 winners or 16% win rate.

Some more specific and surprising best of tables - the cut off is must have played at least 7 times

Early ideas and dates for next Comp

As usual need a short gap before starting again!

Working backwards from a nice evening meeting at Windsor on Monday 11th July means a start on Tuesday 12th April, get that final day in the diary let's see if we can get critical mass to occupy the whole of the Champagne and Seafood bar again :-)

Details will follow in a few weeks and Vince will do the honours on the prize distribution next week

Already got new players - welcome to Adrian Hunt a well known racing journalist who paid me today and is already in!  And it looks like Steve Carter and Tom Feeney partners' have accepted the challenge to play next comp having stated that this looks easy - fighting talk!

Maurice

Ascot final day

Didn't present the cup - I left it in the car miles away and it was raining! - We are going to meet up again to do that shortly.

L to R Tom Feeney, Maurice Edgington, Steve Carter, Andy "the Champion" Stevens, Nigel Clifford, Stanley Moore, & Roger Dore - photo kindly taken by Jade

20feb16 What a great final day

Congratulations to Andy Stevens who smashed in a 33-1 winner to snatch top from Kevin Roberts who's stay at the top was remarkably short lived, a tough loss to get over although sitting  at -£8 only two bets ago sure he would have settled for 2nd!

But 4 other very nice winners Pete Long 12-1 to go 4th, Mark Sharman to go 7th, another hard luck story this time Andy Grinter who napped Stan Moore's runner at Lingfield and it won at 14-1 to take him to the bubble - hope he backed it.  Finally Rod Brown 10-1 but that still left him in the bottom half.

A very nice piece of laying by Nigel who worried about the possibility of Andy's horse winning backed it enough to cover what he lost in prize money.

Stuart Bentham topped the winners chart with 40 out of 61 bets but still didn't make it into the cash in the main comp - for once no-one got cash from both supporting the contention that you can;t win the main comp and do well in the plate

19feb16 ready for tomorrow

For those going to Ascot tomorrow I'm aiming to be on course by around noon first race is 1.15.

So obviously only one story (see below) but I just checked back and Kev has napped that horse twice before in January both times it was hopeless so a little more easy to understand, unfortunately he's working tomorrow so won't be with us.  Nigel Clifford, the leader coming into today, picked a 5-2 winner very honourably not selecting the 1-33 fav in the two horse race.  Pete Long was the only other winner with a consolidating bet to keep him in the cash - smart move given how tight it is from 6th to 10th.

Plate is finished no changes in the order can happen tomorrow

Kev's response!

Just spoke with Kev he's more shocked than us - he only picked it because he has spent time in Brazil and knew what it mean't!

See never give up

Main update will follow much later some late runners at Dundalk involving leader board people

19feb16 UNBELIEVABLE!

Last update of the day and Kevin Roberts pops up with a 66-1 winner - the image of his very early text this morning from this morning is below!

So the tense and exciting finish for tomorrow has been ruined but fair play if you pick long shots then so be it

Thursday 18 February 2016

18feb16 Vince Wins

Vince's 5 point winner today secures the Plate title for him again Stuart & Chris both made him work for it just left to see if he can tie the world record number of points which is 309 with his last bet on Saturday.

So in the main comp just left to see what Nigel selects tomorrow if he missed Andy Stevens will go into the final day 50p up and with Steve Carter and Dave Klein also less than £5 behind the big prize is very much left to play for.

17feb16 just one

Richard Pascoe was the only winner yesterday at 7-2 as loads of us went hunting for the 33-1 super winner and clearly all missed!

In the plate everyone failed to score so that continues to play into Vince's hand with his 12 point lead

Tuesday 16 February 2016

16feb16 high drama at the top

Just two winners today best was Andy Stevens 156-2 to go just 50p off the lead but Nigel has one extra bet to have - looks like that might have to be Annie tomorrow at 1-80!  So very exciting stuff hopefully both will be at Ascot.

In the plate Vince Paige secured the only other winner of the day 5 points and 11-8 so that might just about wrap up that he has a healthy 12 point lead 3 bets to go, his to throw away unless Chris can hit a 10 pointer on his extra bet then that will pressure him a little more.

Monday 15 February 2016

15feb16 surely not!

Pete Long picks up another winner 5-1 using the trusted name of my children selection technique :-) still hammering me sitting 5th and in the cash so who's laughing!  Just 3 other winners Annette Berg creeps into double figures with her 10th winner at 9-4 and Vince Paige & Chris Pascoe both had the same 11-10 winner to put the pressure on Stuart at the top of the plate.  Barry can't now be caught so he collects the £50, 5th place prize in the plate.

Sunday 14 February 2016

14feb16 ILY winners

7 of them today with Pete Long getting another best of the day courtesy of a Mullins long shot winning at 12-1 enough to return him to 9th and a cash spot.  Jason McConkey & Tom McGarrity both had the same 7-2 winner which pushed Jason up a couple of places.  Stan Moore cemented his grip on the last cash spot with an 11-4 winner there is now a nice gap between 10th and the rest.  Dave Barker & Tom Feeney both had a nice 7-1 winner but in both cases probably too little too late, which just leaves Justin Sercombe 2-7 as the final winner.

In the plate the top 3 could only manage places today and that mean't Stuart & Chris both gained a point on Vince, not much impact really.  The top 4 are now secure in the top 4 spots just the order to sort out.

Saturday 13 February 2016

13feb16 Chocs ready!

just 4 winners the top three in the plate all shot priced stuff at least they weren't all on the same horse for once!.  But best of the day was 5-1 for Andy Stevens to put him right in the mix in 4th spot with every chance of a win.

Friday 12 February 2016

12feb14 just a treble

Just 3 they were best of the day 10-1 for Andy Stevens to go 4th, Stan Moore 7-1 to move 9th and Barry Pemble 11-4.

In the plate the leading 3 all picked the same horse again and scored 2 points that makes the world record a lot tougher now!

Thursday 11 February 2016

11feb16 toughie

Just 6 winners today which considering 3 of them were the plate top 3 all on the same 1-5 shot not much of a return for 43 bets!  Best of the day was Terry Matthews at 7-1 which as that was only his 2nd winner didn't really do all that much for him unless he backed it of course! The other two winners were Helen Fahey 9-2 and Tom Feeney 15-8 which was enough to lift him a couple of places up to 5th.

The world record points total currently held by Vince is 309 and with varying degrees of likelihood all of the top 3 in the plate could still exceed that, Vince must be favourite but one dodgy jump over the last few fences on the run in and he's there for the taking!

Wednesday 10 February 2016

10feb16 what a crap day

Another completely rubbish day's racing but 4 people managed to find winners the joint best of the day at 14-1 were Martin Long and Stan Moore which was enough to put Stan back on the leader board.  The other two were Tom Feeney at 11-8 & Dave Barker 5-4.

Monday 8 February 2016

08feb16 some nice winners

10 winners in total and Carl Dean 12-1 scooped the best of the day but he is still well down, Andy Grinter returned to the leader board with his 11-1 winner, Martin Long 6-1 was the other decent price.  Dave Barker 1-2, Maurice Edgington 1-3, avoided joining the plate crowd and their 30-100 winner those guys were Chris Pascoe, Barry Pemble, Vince Paige, Stuart Bentham & Justin Sercombe

Sunday 7 February 2016

07feb16 Same old thing

7 winners today best was 11-2 for Kevin wood and then joint 2nd best were 6 all on the Mullins 5-4 winner at Naas - do I really need to say who!

Saturday 6 February 2016

06feb16 new leader

9 winners today and 4 of them were the same 5-1 winner those players were Kevin Roberts, Mark Sharman, Nigel Clifford & Steve Carter, 3 had La Reve at 4-1 Annette Berg, Jason McConkey Jimmy McGarrity.  Dave Kingsbury & Richard Pascoe both at 6-4 were the other two winners

Friday 5 February 2016

05feb16 double day

Finally found a wifi link!

Thursday 7 winners best of the day a fluke 12-1 winner from Pete Long to go back into the cash, Vince Paige 9-2 & 10 points was a pretty significant winner for him in the plate now looks favourite and sits on the main leader board.  I managed a 4-1 winner and 10 points just a sniff of catching Kevin Wood and even Barry Pemble now long shot though.  The other 4 winners included a nice 6-1 winner for Dave Klein to go back top, 9-4 Mark Sharman to nudge up a spot or two, 15-8 Natasha Tizzano and finally a rare winner for Paul Berg at 100-30 but it does take him above Annette.

Only 4 winners on Friday Annette Berg 7-4 hitting back immediately Ben Cheetham 8-11, Richard Pascoe 9-4 and a best of the day for Tim Catlin 6-1 to move nicely into contention and cash.

Wednesday 3 February 2016

03feb17 Big Winner

Tom Feeney storms up to 4th place with a smashing 20-1 winner today and there were others who impressed.  Jo Hutson and Kev Roberts both picked the same 9-1 winner Jo is now 19th less than £5 off the leader board.  There were a total of 7 winners in the day the other 4 were all the same horse at 1-4 can;t be bothered to write out the same old names yet again tonight :-)

Tuesday 2 February 2016

02feb16 Bumper Day

13 winners and a few nice ones best of the day was Pat Quinn Jnr 10-1 and he needed it! Joint second best were Tim Catlin 8-1 to go to the foot of the table and Andy Stevens to zoom up to 4th.  Also with a nice winner was Jason McConkey 11-4 to move 5th.  Loads of other mainly for all the top of the plate.  Also earning a mention are both Gary Dighton & Rod Brown who both hit the same 6-1 winner but are both still miles behind!

So the only interesting move in the plate is the fact that Justin Sercombe, the defending champion, went dormy today.  He is still really in the hunt, 5 bets in hand and only 25 points behind, could this be a canny wait for some nice 10 pointers or could it backfire and he end up with a couple of forced losers!

Monday 1 February 2016

01feb16 slow day

Plenty sat out and I think that was a wise move just 5 winners today and the best of those was Dave Kingsbury 11-2, Barry Pemble & Ian Carpenter 10-11, Helen Fahey 9-4, & Justin Sercombe 2-1 were the others.

Sunday 31 January 2016

31jan16 Phew made it!

So where was I up to, Saturday just 6 winners and Sunday 7, joint best of the day Saturday were Andy Stevens & Martin Long both 8-1 for Andy enough to move nicely into one of the cash spots, and the same price for Sunday's best of the day for Stan Moore just enough to put him on the foot on the leader board.  Most of the other winners were short priced stuff for the plate lads except 9-2 for Jo Hutson on Saturday and Steve Carter 2-1

Saturday 30 January 2016

29jan16 catching up!

Another 10 winners today and best of the day was Tom Feeney 7-2 closely followed by 3-1 Gary Pascoe, and 8 others!

Friday 29 January 2016

28jan16 behind

Sorry in USA and lost my internet in the condo been switched off in error!  I will do my best to catch up tomorrow here is Thursday's update

10 winners 8 of the at less than evens so ignoring them! We are left with Mark Sharman 7-1 to move 4th and Ian Carpenter at 5-4 to hold on to 9th not a lot else to say - what a sad lot we are :-)

Wednesday 27 January 2016

27jan16 strange day

And a tough one with only 3 winners.  But everyone on the leader board, all 15 of them, all had a loser so no changes at all and 6 of the top 8 in the plate had the same 1 point 4th at Thurles.

Anyway the best of the day winner was Dave Kingsbury 7-1 enough for him to go positive and sit on +79p and 16th spot.  Yesterday's best of the day, Tom Feeney, now has the bit between his teeth brought up a double with a 9-2 winner and finally Tom McGarrity 7-4.

Bad luck to the syndicate of naps compers who own Faster Company that ran tonight at Kempton and came 3rd, looks like that ran into a nice horse in the winner that won Monday as well, and it wasn't helped at the start either, so all is not lost.
