31dec13 even worse today

Come on lads only 3 winners today (although I'm hardly doing my bit as i clocked up my 40th consecutive loser today and am still to get off the mark!).  Best of the day was Jimmy McGarrity 4-1, to move up a place into 5th, the other winners were Stuart Bentham & Vince Paige both on the same 8-11 winner.

In the plate that winner took Vince exactly 50 points clear which is looking a big ask to catch now with only 20 or so bets to go.

HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL COMPERS!

Monday 30 December 2013

30dec13 another sparse day

Just 4 winners today Annette Berg again 6-4 to bring up a nice treble, best of the day was Barry Pemble 8-1 to move to 8th - nice one.  The other two were Paul Stobbart 6-4 to move up a spot to 5th and Matt Harrison 7-2.

Paul Stobbart's 5 point winner was enough to take him to treble figures and 7th on the leader board where most sat out today

29dec13 Berg again

Star billing two days in a row for Annette with best of the day 5-2 winner.  Six others 4 did 11-10 winner Stuart Bentham, Barry Pemble, Vince Paige & Gary Pascoe and 2 did 4-5 winner Jed Parramore & Tom Feeney.

Vince's winner in the plate restored his around 50 point lead

Saturday 28 December 2013

28dec13 Berg's rule - nearly

Paul & Annette Berg both get winners with Michael Brook 11-4, the only non Berg winner!  Paul holds the bragging rights his 20-1 winner of the Welsh National puts him onto the leader board in 9th for the first time this comp, Annette's winner was 13-8.

Very little point scoring in the plate a single point for Kevin Wood brought him level with Barry but still 4th on count-back number of winners.

27dec13 slow day

Top man today was Steve Walton with a nice 13-2 winner but he remains down in the bottom half, others were Tom Feeney 4-1 to consolidate in 4th, Spencer Mills evens to move a little further clear at the top, Ian Carpenter 11-4 & Carl Dean 5-2 were the other 2 winners.

In the plate Barry Pemble won 3rd place back after the top three all gained 5 points for a second on the same horse.

Thursday 26 December 2013

26dec13 we're back

8 winners today with joint best of the day, the King George winner at 7-2, for Wayne Morton & Steve Tyson.  others were Paul Marks 5-2, Stuart Bentham 1-2, Martin Long 6-4, Dave Kingsbury 11-8, Jay Lewis 7-4, Justin Sercombe 11-10.

In the plate 10 points for Justin reeled in another 8 points from Vince after he could only manage a 2 point 3rd place, and a 5 point 2nd for Kevin Wood was enough to regain 3rd place.

Sunday 22 December 2013

HAPPY XMAS EVERYBODY

All our readers and Compers(!) have a good Christmas next update after Boxing Day

Small Xmas present for all:

back Un De Sceaux for the Champion Hurdle 20-1 on Bet365 tonight - you heard it here first

22dec13 big double

Two people selected the same 14-1 winner today Pat Quinn Snr & Colin Warmington to move into 14th on the leader board.  There were 4 other winners Justin Sercombe 5-2, Kevin Wood 4-1, Steve Tyson 5-4, and Pat Quinn Jnr 5-2 to reel in the leader just a little.

In the plate bad day for the leader as his and Barry Pemble's selection slipped up coming to the 2nd last when in strong contention leaving Justin's selection to go on to win the 10 points.  Kevin Wood also collected 10 for his winner.  They both need to do that a fair few more times to catch Vince though.

File is updated through to 25th as there is no racing until Boxing Day so that has brought a few more to dormy.

Saturday 21 December 2013

21dec13 Leader sprints clear

Again just 5 winners but while strictly not the best of the day certainly the most significant was Spencer Mills 10-1, that's looking pretty good not enough to say it is all over with 20+ bets left but will be hard to catch.  Tim Catlin also picked that winner and Wayne Morton took top the day's top honours with a 14-1 winner.  The other two winners were Jon Hall 6-1 and Barry Pemble 6-4.

In the plate Vince pulled further clear with a 5 point 2nd the same selection as both Stuart Bentham and Kevin Wood.  Can't really see anyone catching him from here, unless someone can straight the second half of the comp.

No racing for 3 days after tomorrow

20dec13 travelling

Sorry missed this travelling back from USA anyway there were 5 winners best of which was Pat Quinn Jnr 14-1 to go 2nd

Friday 20 December 2013

19dec13 standard fare

7 winners today best of the lot was Roger Dore 13-2 to move just into positive territory also among the winners were Annette Berg & Stuart Bentham both 10-11, Craig Connelly 7-2, Colin Warmington 11-4, Dave Kingsbury 9-2 to move 9th, Tom Ellison 7-4.

Kevin Dighton our esteemed sponsor went dormy today the perils of major construction projects!

Thursday 19 December 2013

18dec13 new leader

Spencer Mills makes it to the top with an 11-2 winner today, just eclipsed for best of the day by Mark Sharman with his 8-1 winner the others were Paul Stobbart 4-6, and three with the same even money shot, Vince Paige, Chris & Gary Pascoe.

Another good day in the plate for Vince as he picks up a 10 point winner and now sits 48 points clear

Wednesday 18 December 2013

17dec13 another slow one

Just 4 again today best of the day was 6-1 for Colin Warmington others were Vince Paige 11-4, Paul Berg 5-2, Chris Pascoe 10-11.  Surprisingly long priced winner for Vince again and sufficient to move him up to 10th the first cash paying spot.

Also as Vince was the only player in the top 5 of the plate he moved further clear

Monday 16 December 2013

16dec13 slow day

Just 4 winners today as most of the guys at the top of the leader boards sat out.  Best of the day by a long way was Dave Sharman at 14-1 to move onto the foot of the leader board winners also for Carl Dean 9-4, Ian Carpenter 11-4, & Tom Feeney 7-4 to move up a place to 4th.

Hardly anyone in the plate top 10 had a bet and no-one scored a point anyway!

Sunday 15 December 2013

15dec13 Another 10 winners

10 winners again today won't go through them all as the excel goes out shortly best of the day was Tom Feeney 10-1 to move nicely into the mix in 5th.  Vince Paige selected his 20th winner and the longest priced one at 9-4 for 10 points and so stretched his lead to an impressive 35 points level bets - his to lose from here.

Saturday 14 December 2013

14dec13 Last gasp win

Had to wait for the 7.20 before updating just in case Dave Kingsbury's long shot at Wolverhampton actually won and, blow me, it did at 16-1 to zoom him up into the money in 10th spot.  Up until that point the day's highlight was another winner for Spencer Mills 5-1, his 7th winner from the last 9 to move into 2nd transformed from -£11.57 and languishing down near Steve Walton and I to + £25.68 great stuff and gives us hope :-)

Apart from those two above there were 8 other winners, Mark Kelly brought up a double with an 11-4 winner, Stuart Bentham evens, Carl Dean 5-1, Vince Paige and Barry Pemble 11-10 and 10 points, Mark Quinn 7-1, Annette Berg 11-4 and Jimmy McGarrity the same which was enough to nudge him up two spots to 5th.

Vince looking odds on for the plate now unless we can psych him out of it a little later on :-)

13dec13 yesterday

Some very nice winners today from some in form tippers!  In total there were just 6 from 41 bets but best of the day was Mark Kelly 10-1, closely followed by red hot Spencer Mills 9-1 to go 3rd,  Adam Slater & Dave Sharman both 6-1 with Mark Nutting 4-1 to go 11th and Jay Lewis 5-1 to go 6th.

In the plate a good day for the leader as those that did bet missed, while he sat out, Stuart Bentham regain the final cash spot with a single point for 3rd, don;t forget not even half way through yet so even though the top 4 look a bit ahead that gap is easily made up!

Friday 13 December 2013

Thursday 12 December 2013

12dec13 Leader wins again

Rod Brown pops in a nice 9-4 winner to move further clear, along with Annette Berg, Matthew Harrison, Pat Quinn Snr, & Richard Pascoe who all picked the same horse.  Mark Nutting 5-1, picked the best of the day to scrape back onto the foot of the leader board, Paul Creed 9-2, Pat Quinn Jnr picked up a 7-2 winner to move back 4th, Spencer Mills 11-4, were the other winners.

In the plate they all missed except Kevin Wood who picked up 5 points for a 2nd place

Wednesday 11 December 2013

11dec13 big winner

Despite losing 15 bets to the abandonment's we still managed to secure 6 winners, the stand out one was for Paul Stobbart 20-1 to leap up to 2nd place.  He becomes the first player to cross into the comfort zone of knowing that he will definitely end the competition up, he sits £22.11 up with just 18 bets left, so despite being £6.47 behind Rod Brown in 2nd he is 11 bets ahead, that makes him the effective leader for me.

Other winners were three on the 4-1 Leicester winner, Adam Slater, Mark Sharman & Paul Marks,  the final 2 winners both had the same 5-1 winner they were Craig Connelly & Paul Berg.

Most of the plate boys did the same 1-4 shot that got turned over by a 66-1 outsider - didn't see it but it reads like a cock-up from AP who gave him a massive lead then couldn't reel him in!

Tuesday 10 December 2013

10dec12 just a pair

Two winners today Vince Paige 8-13 & 5 points and Pat Quinn Snr 11-4 - enough said

Monday 9 December 2013

09dec13 slow Monday

just 4 winners today with the best performance by Spencer Mills who brought up a 4 timer with a 7-1 winner the best of the day and zoomed onto the leader board in 8th.  The other winners were Richard Pascoe 11-10, Pat Quinn Snr 7-2, & Jed Parramore 10-11, to nudge up a place to 11th.

Hardly any bets in the plate so no changes to report

Sunday 8 December 2013

08dec13 Le Weekend

Big wins for Jo & Steve - they got married great day, thanks Steve & Jo and congratulations - the first napscomp wedding :-)

Loads of winner across the weekend 21 in total so clearly not going through all them best was Steve Tyson 16-1 but that still leaves him slightly down, also a big showing from Spencer Mills 12-1 Saturday and followed up today with 6-4 winner to bring up a treble and to move him one off the leader board in 16th.  Jay Lewis had a good weekend 2 from 2 at 8-1 & 6-1 that moved him up to the cash in 9th spot.  Another couple affecting the leader board were Jed Parramore 6-1 to return to the top 15, Paul Marks 8-1 to go £1.00 up.

In the plate Vince, Barry & Justin all scored 2 from 2, Kevin scored 1 from 2 & Gary, Chris & Stuart all scored 1 from 1 - everyone of those winners were 10 pointers!  So that didn't change much

Daniel Billingham & Mark Dighton went dormy

Friday 6 December 2013

06dec13 Wedding Eve!

6 winners best of the day was Paul Stobbart 5-1, to go 10th,  Pat Quinn Jnr won again at 6-4, to bring up a treble and to move 3rd, Martin Long 8-15, Jimmy McGarrity brought up a nice double with an 11-4 winner to go 4th, Dave Barker had his 2nd 7-2 winner in a row to move onto the leader board, and finally Spencer Mills at 2-1.

In the plate all pretty quiet Justin Sercombe slipped back a bit after he failed to score and all the other top 6 sat out on a tough day - you wait until tomorrow even more difficult to find a 10 pointer!

05dec13 Action day

10 winners today topped by Pat Quinn Jnr 10-1 to move 4th and just when Pete Long thought he had taken over at the top with his 9-2 winner Rod Brown relies with a nice 8-1 winner late in the evening meeting.  A nice 10 point and 8-11 winner for Chris Pascoe, Gary Pascoe and Kevin Wood.  Terry Matthews 7-2, Jimmy McGarrity 100-30, Dave Kingsbury 9-2, Dave Barker 7-2 were the other winners.

In the plate Kevin Wood gained 5 points on Vince Paige after he and Barry Pemble could only manage 5 points for a 2nd.  Gary Pascoe has broken into the top 5 and the cash after his 10 point winner, probably only temporarily as he has had 6 games more.

Both Gareth Chapman & Lee Constable are now dormy and given that we have 3 blank days across the Xmas period effectively so are Mark Dighton & Daniel Billingham

Wednesday 4 December 2013

04dec13 and another one

Just a paltry 3 winners again today Paul Berg topped the list at 4-1 with Pat Quinn Jnr 6-4 and Chris Pascoe 5-4.  The last two both moved up a place or two on the main leader board

In the plate no-one in the top 10 from yesterday had a bet so that allowed Chris Pascoe to sneak onto the foot of the table with his 5 point winner.

Tuesday 3 December 2013

03dec13 another quiet one

5 winners 3 top placed were Chris Pascoe Jay Lewis and Steve Tyson all with the same 5-2 winner the only other success was Adam Slater & Barry Pemble with their  11-8 shot.  so that moved Chris up to just behind his dad!

In the plate Justin Missed again and Barry Pemble continued his relentless gathering of 5 point winners but still a bit off the pace

Monday 2 December 2013

02dec13 nice quiet day

Just 3 winners Colin Warmington 4-1 was the best and Gary Dighton & Jake Fifield both had 5-2 winners.  That was Gary off the mark and Jake moved 9th.

None of the top 5 in the plate had a bet

Sunday 1 December 2013

01dec13 stag recovery day!

Slow start for some of us and a no show for a few! We still managed to scrape up 7 winners though three picked the same even money winner, Gary Pascoe, Jed Parramore & Dave Kingsbury, two selected the 30-100 winner in the first in Ireland Vince & Justin of course!  Leaving just Chris Pascoe who brought up a 6 timer at 4-6 and best of the day Michael Brook 6-1 to zoom up to a strong 5th place given that he has had more bets than anyone else in the top 14.

Vince & Justin moved 20+ points clear of Kevin Wood in 3rd with their 5 point winner today.

A lot of beer talk yesterday about where we should finish future naps comps ranging from Ayr (no way) to Happy Valley or the Melbourne Cup!! The one thought that did seem realistic was 2015 a repeat of the Punchestown trip, start collecting the necessary brownie points!

Note top left this is the new permanent home for the PDF of the leader boards easier like that than to include a link everyday in the daily blog

29nov13 stag day

A very strong showing from napscomp members among the 18 travelers at Steve Walton's all day stag event at Towcester.  What a very nice course, a good test of stamina (for us and the horses!), new facilities, and nice atmos.  A strong recommend from everyone on the trip.

Only 4 winners on what appeared to be a tough day Roger Dore 3-1 to bring up a 5 timer, Pat Quinn Snr. with the best of the day 5-1, Justin Sercombe 5-4, and Barry Pemble 8-13.

In the plate Vince recorded only his 2nd 'not in the frame' runner and so slipped back to the pack after Justin Sercombe picked up a brave 10 points in Ireland.

Friday 29 November 2013

29nov13 a bit the worse

Me that is so don't expect coherence!   6 winners today with the best being Martin Long 9-1 and 10 points, others were Matthew Harrison 5-2 to bring up a treble, 7-2 for Roger Dore to bring up a 4 timer, Chris Pascoe 8-11, and Jimmy McGarrity & Tim Catlin 11-8.  So a nice rise up the table for Martin into 4th looking forward to seeing him tomorrow at Towcester where he can re-live it with us all!!

Thursday 28 November 2013

28nov13 Leader moves further clear

Rod Brown picks up a 15-8 winner today to just nudge a little further ahead but there were also another 10 winners best of these were Michael Brook & Mark Kelly both on the same 8-1 winner that took Michael back up to 6th and was Mark Kelly's first winner.  Ken Jones 7-2, Carl Dean 2-1, Chris Pascoe 15-8, Matt Harrison 5-2, Pat Quinn Snr 15-8, Paul Stobbart & Vince Paige a nice even money 10 pointer.

So in the plate that win for Vince looks like starting a gap OK not yet a half way but looking like work to do for the rest of the fab five!

27nov13 another big one

Pete Long does it again and snaps up a 16-1 winner to zoom 2nd just £2.07 behind the leader although 6 bets fewer, having said that sure rather be where he is than my -£16.00 after 16 straight losers!  In total we had 8 winners three of the plate boys Vince, Barry & Stuart all picked a 30-100 winner for 5 points the others were Roger Dore, Paul Berg, Matthew Harrison, & Jed Parramore enough to move Jed up to 8th.

Order at the top of the plate remained unaltered but Vince opened up a small gap at the top and Kevin Wood is slipping back he sat out today but has had 5 losers in a row and three without scoring at all.

Tuesday 26 November 2013

26nov13 Only 3

Tough day by the look of it with just 3 from 33 Roger Dore 3-1, Mark Nutting best of the day 9-2 to shoot back up to 5th place & finally Chris Pascoe 5-4 to move to 11th and on the bubble.

In the plate all of the top 5 sat out and those below them that did play all missed so a completely stationary top 10.

Monday 25 November 2013

25nov13 I don't like Mondays

Such rubbish racing but we still managed to scrape up 6 winners firstly the odds on team that is a 4-7 for Carl Dean, Chris Pascoe, & Jon Hall, Colin Warmington brought up a double with a 7-2 winner, Paul Marks 9-2 was best of the day, Gary Pascoe brought up a 4 timer with his 2-1 winner.

In the plate all but Barry Pemble had a bet and no winners after the 1-6 favourite got turned over in an early race, Gary continues to hunt down the leaders now within striking distance.

Click here for link to PDF of leader boards

Sunday 24 November 2013

24nov13 some tidy winners

8 in total but in particular best of the day 17-2 for Tom Feeney to go 2nd and three with a nice 7-1 winner they were Ian Carpenter, Colin Warmington (who got off the mark) and Chris Pascoe.  That leaves the 4 predictable plate lads on the very nice Mullins hurdler who scored at 4-5, they were Vince Paige, Gary Pascoe, Stuart Bentham & Justin Sercombe.

So that 10 pointer for the 4 above saw Kevin Wood fall down to 3rd and Vince take over at the top, slight hint that Gary Pascoe could still break into that top 5 given the purple patch he is on.

Saturday 23 November 2013

23nov13 Cue the champion

But surely not good enough for the Cheltenham Gold Cup but a great performance nonetheless.  For us 9 winners in total and the joint best of the day were Tom Elliston & Terry Matthews both 8-1 and both going back positive, Adam Slater 4-1, Dave Barker 100-30, Dave Kingsbury 3-1, Jake Fifield 11-2 to return to the leader board, Jed Parramore 11-10, Paul Stobbart, & Barry Pemble 8-11 enough for Paul to rise up one place to 5th.

In the plate good day for Vince Paige who sat our and Barry Pemble who scored 5 as no-one else scored!

Friday 22 November 2013

22nov13 another bucket full

Winners I mean! 12 in total, so concentrating on those of most significance joint best of the day was Annette Berg & Mark Sharman 8-1 just behind were Tom Feeney & Michael Brook both 5-1 lifting them to 3rd and 9th respectively.

In the plate all of the top acted in unison again this time all sitting out!

Click here for link to PDF of leader boards

21nov13 very slow on the update!

Nice one Rod Brown slots in a 25-1 winner from Kempton to move up to the top and a good way clear of the field - he might be pretty hard to dislodge, knows his stuff and gets the tactics right.  Another good winner was 10-1 from Jay Lewis 10 points as well to feature on both leader boards 11th & 9th. There were 7 in total so the other 5 were Jimmy McGarrity & Gary Pascoe 13-8 to both consolidate at the top of the leader board - clearly Rod has mess that plan up for them!  Dave Barker 5-1 to go positive now in 19th spot, Tom Elliston 8-13 & finally Jed Parramore also 8-13 to stay just off the cash spots in 12th.

In the plate all of the top 5 picked the same losing horse again but scored 5 points as it finished 2nd at 4-7 - LOL

Wednesday 20 November 2013

20nov13 very slow on winners

Busy day with 44 bets and just 3 winners joint best of the day with a nice 8-1 winner were Jake Fifield & Tim Catlin who moved into 7th, the other winner was Mark Sharman who got off the mark today with an 11-4 shot.

In the plate Vince sat out and all the other except Justin Sercombe picked up 5 points for a 2nd.  This enabled Kevin Wood to move back top.

Tuesday 19 November 2013

19nov13 come back EPL please

9 winners today the four naps boys who are not in Brisbane all picked the same 1-9 winner! Saddos but at least it means that while they do this they can't win the main comp!  Other winners were Pete Long with the best of the day 4-1 to go 3rd amazing how many runners there are with the word Pete in them! Richard Pascoe 100-30, Ken Jones 9-4, & Carl Dean 6-4, Pat Quinn Jnr 5-4, were the other 4 winners.

In the plate Vince Paige taking over at the top again on count back was really the only move on the leader board.

Monday 18 November 2013

18nov13 from memory

loads of winners 13! But nothing stunning 5 platers all picked the 1-9 winner form a certain 5 points, Vince was the only one who went it alone and he still picked a 5 point winner at 8-11 so made a few pence extra.  Gary Pascoe scored with a 5-2 winner to go third and Chris Pascoe 11-4, brought up a treble enough to take him positive but still only 23rd.  Paul Stobbart with a 9-4 winner went 4th and Tim was the other 11-4 winner that was best of the day.

17nov13 Amendment

Sorry missed a winner Sunday for Rod Brown 12-1 no dispute just missed the text!!

Tables are amended

Sunday 17 November 2013

17nov11 what no sun

8 winners today but 5 of them the same 1-5 winner in Ireland, no prizes for guessing Vince Paige, Stuart Bentham, Barry Pemble, Jon Hall, Justin Sercombe.  Best of the day was for Gary Pascoe 7-2 to go into 4th that's 3 from the last 4 for Gary.  Other 2 were Chris Pascoe 2-1 & Kevin Wood 5-6 and 10 points.

So with that 10 pointer Kevin Wood took over at the top again but with loads in handfor all those behind him that is a little false.

Excel on its way

16nov13 tough day

Just 6 winners today best were Dave Sharman & Michael Brook both 7-1 & 10 points to bring them both onto the main leader board, just!  Others were Jay Lewis & Martin Long 11-4, Barry Pemble & Chris Pascoe both 4-7.  Martin Long's winner saw him move up to 5th in the main comp.

In the plate Vince sat out and that allowed Kevin Wood to draw level (behind on number of 2nds on count back) but he is 5 bets ahead.

Friday 15 November 2013

15nov13 another big one

Joanne Hutson slots in a very nice 16-1 winner today to move into joint 6th place.  All the plate top three picked the same 15-8 winner, Barry Pemble & Jed Parramore both had a 5-4 winner, Dave Barker 4-6 & Gary Pascoe also had a 15-8 winner.

In the plate the top three moved away again from the 4th spot with their 10 point winners, and Gary Pascoe moved into the top 10.

Another warning

Everyone, a couple of bets were received yesterday 2-3 minutes after the 30 minute cut off rule, the market wasn't formed and it was only a small miss so I let them pass this time, but that is very much on the limit.

Please take this as another warning that I will start to reject late bets - if I do notify that the bet was too late to count and it is still before 1.30 you can make another selection.

I need to apply the rules fairly please make my job easier by building in some slack on timing texts are not always instantly transmitted!

Thanks guys

Thursday 14 November 2013

14nov13 bumper day

Sorry for the delay blame Gary Pascoe selecting in the last race of the day!

14 winners on a bumper day so selected highlights only!  Mark Quinn tops the file with a 14-1 winner to go approximately level, Jed Parramore a nice 100-30 10 point winner to rise up both leader boards, Michael Brook 5-1,   Pat Quinn Jnr 4-1 to go 3rd & Paul Stobbart 7-1 to go 6th are those highlights but well done the other 9 winners.

In the plate seems like most of them scored 5 points for 2nds or winners so no real change except to notice that there is now a distinct gap between 3rd & 4th are the top 3 breaking clear?  Confident the peloton will reel them back in shortly!

Click here for link to PDF of leader boards

13nov13 exciting day

Certainly was - so sorry I was too busy last night to update!

Main news is there was a mass of very nice winners clearly on top was Jimmy McGarrity with a pickable Alan King 25-1 winner to zoom him into the lead.  Other very nice winners were Jon Curtis 14-1 to go 8th, Tom Feeney 9-2 to go 2nd, Mark Nutting 6-1 to sit 3rd, Paul Stobbart 12-1 and 10 points to move to the foot of both leader boards, Paul Berg 9-2, and the final one 4-5 for Martin Long.

LOL in the plate the whole of the top 5 picked the same horse that again got turned over so they all picked up just 2 points allowing Martin to creep a bit nearer in 6th.

Tuesday 12 November 2013

12nov13 just 119 days to go

Tom Feeney scores big and goes top 10-1 clearly best of the day which was otherwise a bit light on winners only 7 from 40.  Other winners were Mathew Harrison 11-8, Jimmy McGarrity 3-1, Jon Hall 10-11, Ian Carpenter 4-6, Carl Dean who got off the mark with an even money shot and finally Adam Slater who spotted his non-runner in time to capture a nice 9-2 winner to move to 17th.

In the plate the big odds on 10 pointer got turnover again so most of the top 5 ended up with just 5 points but enough to take Vince back top and to move Kevin Wood to level with 2nd place Justin Sercombe who holds on only on count back.

Monday 11 November 2013

11nov13 Remember

7 winners today but no great impact on the leader boards as you can see.  The winners were Gareth Chapman 3-1, Gary Pascoe 4-5, Jed Parramore 4-1, Kevin Wood & Roger Dore both 2-1, Stuart Bentham 4-5 and best of the day and getting off the mark was Steve Walton at 13-2.

So no changes at the top of the plate Kevin Wood closed up a bit but has had a lot more bets as he tries to burn through them quickly in preparation for his trip to the Brisbane test match.

Click here for link to PDF of leader boards

Sunday 10 November 2013

10nov13 double whammy

From Paul Marks & Mark Dighton the same 12-1 winner to move 8th & 3rd respectively, also making good progress today was Martin Long 4-1 to go 4th & Craig Connelly 1-2 to sit 9th but that is his 6th winner for the last 8 with only one bet so far that hasn't finished in the top 2!  Other winners included Paul Stobbart 4-1, he still sits well down the field even after that, but has had the most bets of anyone.

In the Plate Vince closed the gap to just 3 points after a 5 point winner to Justin's 2 point 3rd.  Best was Kevin Wood with a nice 10 point winner to go back 3rd.  Martin Long is also giving the fab 5 something to think about after he also recorded his 6th winner from the last 8 to move 6th.

Click here for link to PDF of leader boards

09nov13 new leader

10 winners the most significant of which was Pat Quin who brought up a treble with a nice 9-2 winner to go top.  Best of the day was Gary Pascoe 8-1 to go into the last cash spot and 10th.

Plate saw Barry Pemble score 10 points and gain 5 over his main rivals who all picked a 5 point 2nd

Sorry for the late update away in London

08nov13 strange day

Not least because of the paucity of the racing fare for a Friday, where's all the decent meetings - come back the flat don;t get this sort of dross in the summer!

Nonetheless we did get 6 winners they were Annette Berg 5-2, Chris Pascoe 3-1, Jed Parramore 13-8, Ken Jones off the mark with a 9-4 winner, Pat Quinn Jnr best of the day 5-1 to go 2nd & Richard Pascoe 85-40.

Not much action in the plate as all but Kevin Wood sat out in the plate, which looked like a good decision.

Come on Kev (Dighton) not a good start when your selection, the favourite in a 3 horse race, fails to finish!!

07nov13 MMMM

9 winners today joint best of the day were Dave Sharman & Pat Quinn Jnr who both got off the mark with the same 7-1 winner both moved to +£4.00, and joint 10th place!  Closely followed by Terry Mathews who also got off the mark with a nice 5-1 winner.  Martin Long, 13-8 brought up a 5 timer, Justin Sercombe, 5-2 brought up a 4 timer and Craig Connelly 10-11 for 4 from the last 5.  Hot stuff some classy players in this comp.  Other winners were Barry Pemble 8-15, Jon Hall 5-2 to move 8th & Wayne Morton 6-4 rightly predicting it would be APs 4000th winner.

Justin's 3rd 10 point winner in a row takes him clear and Barry Pemble moves 4th after his 5 pointer.

06nov13 what a farce

Sorry but have to rant about some politics tonight - we lose 500 years of ship building history in Portsmouth and loads of jobs just so we don't upset the Scottish and hand Alec Salmon a card to play in the independence vote.  Who cares if they leave anyway and we are never going to build our ships in a foreign country if they do leave and we won't have Portsmouth - ridiculous.  Grow some Cameron no-one in Scotland voted for you anyway and we did!

Back to the comp 10 winners today too many to go through individually joint best of the day were Steve Tyson & Paul Marks both 7-2 closely followed by Roger Dore 3-1.  Annette Berg & Mark Quinn both got off the mark.

In the plate Vince & Justin both brought up their trebles with another 10 point winner to move a bit away from Kevin Wood & Stuart Bentham who both failed to score.  The last member of the fab 5 Barry Pemble finally arrived in 5th and made up the full hand after scoring 10 points as well.

Go Kev (Dighton) in your bet with Vince, nice move he will be messing about on the plate at the end - all you need are some winners then :-)

05nov13 BOOM BANG- A-BANG

What year? - no Google

8 winners from  42 bets today 4 of them were the same horse a 10 pointer for the usual plate suspects Vince, Justin, Barry & Kevin Wood which won at 8-11.  Jon Hall 6-4, and three shared the best of the day 11-4 Jimmy McGarrity, Paul Creed,  & Gareth Chapman got of the mark .

With most of the top of the plate selecting the same horse it was Stuart Bentham who sat out who suffered missing out on a 10 pointer.  Barry Pemble makes his first appearance in the top 10 and watch out for new boy Spencer Mills who hasn't had many bets yet but looks like only going for selections in 16+ races who sits on 9 after 3 bets.

PRIZES CONFIRMED

Final participant has paid this morning so we are at 57 players confirmed

This means a top prize of  £1,000 for the main comp and £175 for the plate, the full details of all the smaller prizes will be shown on the excel update.

We will be paying prizes for the top 10 in the main comp and top 5 in the plate (one extra place on each as we have 7 extra players this time).

Monday 4 November 2013

04nov13 wow 13 winners

Massive day - won't go through them all but highlight was Mark Nutting opening his account with a nice 10-1 winner to go straight into 3rd, preceded by Tim Catlin with the same winner into 2nd, that's put Pete Long under some pressure!  Three picked a very nice 10 point winner at 15-8, Vince Paige Jay Lewis and Paul Stobbart which saw all of them make progress in the plate particularly Vince who took over at the top in a very close top 4.  Martin Long brought up a 4 timer with his 2-5 winner and Craig Connelly made further progress after picking a 11-4 shot to bring up his treble.

If you didn't get the first excel update yesterday then shout as it went out

Sunday 3 November 2013

03nov13 quiet one overall

5 winners today they were Paul Creed & Jay Lewis with the same best of the day 3-1 winner leaving the other three, Martin Long, Craig Connelly, Dave Kingsbury all scoring with the same 5-4 winner.

That pretty much left the top end of the plate unmoved.

Saturday 2 November 2013

02nov13 tough day

It looked like an ordinary day but it turned out to be pretty tough just 4 winners Pete Long 11-4 to extend his lead, Martin Long 4-6, and Kevin Dighton & Dave Barker both got off the mark with the same 9-4 winner.

So all quiet in the plate as Kevin Wood & Vince failed to score with Justin & Stuart wisely sitting out

01nov13 HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME

To help me celebrate Vince kindly lost his 100% record - thanks

7 winners today from just 34 bets best of the day was a 7-2 winner for Ricky Pumphrey which took him into 3rd place, Rod Brown 3-1, Roger Dore 5-2, Stuart Bentham & Jed Parramore both 2-1 and Justin Sercombe & Jake Fifield both 8-15, were all the others.

In the plate Stuart's first 10 point winner took him ahead of Vince and into 3rd after both he and Kevin just managed to scrape up a single point for 4th in a tough race in Ireland. Justin Sercombe popped in another 5 pointer that's 4 from 6 to stay second.

Must re-emphasize the 30 minute rule guys bets must be in 30 minutes before the advertised time of the race to count. But just to clarify if you do select an early runner and it gets withdrawn after you have selected it you can still have another selection for that day so long as you comply again with the 1.30pm cut off and the 30 minute rule.

Thursday 31 October 2013

31oct13 A treat please

6 winners from 40 bets today best of the day was Michael Brook who got off the mark with a 7-1 winner to go 7th Martin Long wasn't far behind with his 5-1 to move 6th amusingly 9p ahead of Vince (they have a standing side bet for every comp), Adam Slater & Craig Connelly both got off the mark with the same 11-4 winner. Ian Carpenter 5-6 and Vince Paige 8-13 were the other winners. In the plate good day for Vince Paige who kept up his 100% record and brought up a treble and went 3rd all those around him all lost ground

Wednesday 30 October 2013

30oct13 pumpkins all ready?

Massive 11 winners today from 31 bets, best of the day was Jon Hall 5-1 to go 4th and Ricky Pumphrey opened his account with a 7-2 winner to go 6th, Kevin Wood went 3rd with his 4-1, 10 point winner too many others to list out.

In the plate Kevin Wood extended his lead but all the other main protagonists all selected the same 2-7 5 point winner - they are Vince Paige, Justin Sercombe, Barry Pemble, & Stuart Bentham.  Looks like the above 5 guys are all going for the plate in earnest this time, so it will be tough to break into that top five and snatch a prize paying spot for the rest of us :-(

Tuesday 29 October 2013

29oct13 appropriately spooky!

5th day in a row we have 4 winners! Best of the day was Ian Carpenter 13-2 sufficient, at this early stage, to put him onto both leader boards.  Other winners were John Hall 7-4, Joanne Hutson 5-1 to go 5th, & Kevin Wood 5-4 to maintain his lead at the top of the plate.

Monday 28 October 2013

28oct13 the faux storm

Again another 4 winners from the 13 bets that survived, all short priced winners very rare that the best priced is odds on but Chris Pascoe with 10-11 tops the quartet, Stuart Bentham & Richard Pascoe both 4-5 and Justin Sercombe 2-5.  So no movement among the leaders on the main comp.

In the plate Stuart Bentham went 3rd Justin Sercombe 2nd and Kevin Wood's 1 point 3rd just kept him ahead.

Sunday 27 October 2013

27oct13 Super Sunday

Well for Pete Long & Tom Feeney who both selected 11-1 winner to sit on top of the table after the 2nd day.  Two other winners both on the same 6-5 winner Rod Brown & Steve Tyson so they both feature on the leader board at this early stage as well.

No change in the plate as all the above winners were 3 pointers.

Don't forget you 9 players still to pay - no pay no play!

RULE REMINDER

Now the clocks have changed don't forget that the cut off remains at 1.30pm but if your selection runs in an early race your nap must be in at least 30 mins before the off time.

I will be enforcing this pretty strictly as there is considerable advantage to be gained by seeing the opening shows and betting patterns in the immediate run up to a race.

Saturday 26 October 2013

26oct13 First Day

Still got some unknown texts so incomplete results today, so without them just 4 winners Tim Catlin kicks of with the best winner 4-1 with three others all on 2-1 winners, Vince Paige & Justin Sercombe on the same 5 point winner but Kevin wood heads up the plate with his 2-1 10 pointer.

26oct13 AND WE ARE OFF

That's it break over and new comp starts today.

Looks like we have around 57 players although 12 of that number haven't paid yet so they can't start betting yet!

Good luck everybody

Wednesday 9 October 2013

NEXT COMP #35!

So this is the plan

Start Saturday 26th October and finish at Cheltenham on Saturday 25th January 2014 which is Festival Trials day.  The day will be preceded by breakfast snacks, coffee, tea, Guinness, and shots of Sloe gin at my house in Cheltenham before proceeding to the course.  Entry will be the same £50 (which it has been for the past 10 years) and as the new rule of pay before you can play has worked so well we will be asking for that again.

As this is the more popular racing period we are hoping for a bumper entry so invite friends and everyone!

Sunday 6 October 2013

The cup is presented

Gary Pascoe presents the cup to the 3rd time winner Steve Walton - we are going to have to give Gary some training on how to do that next time!!

The Fontwell team

From Left to Right Jimmy McGarrity, Paul Marks, Gary Pascoe, Martin Long, Maurice Edgington, Steve Walton, Vince Paige, Craig Connelly, Jake Fifield - Jo Hutson took the picture!

Don't forget Intello in the Arc

OK never run over this trip but a performance like in the French Derby would win this maybe 11-1 and with at least Bet365 paying 1/4 first 4 - looks like the value bet to me

A Grand Final Day at Fontwell

Firstly congratulations to our two winners Steve Walton a commanding performance and Vince Paige who gave the impression he could be caught for a while but in the end won convincingly. - Well done to both.

As usual no great changes on the last day there were just 3 winners but Richard Pascoe 11-4 was just enough to earn him £50 for the final prize paying place which was 9th.  The other two winners were Rod Brown also 11-4, which moved him up a fair few places but only onto the bubble, best of the day was Craig Connelly 7-2, who finished the comp with a treble and 5th place.

In the plate Dave Kingsbury failed to score and so my 2 point 2nd place was enough to secure 4th and the last cash prize £50 - I was so excited :-). Martin Long had the best 'runners getting in the first 4' % at 80.3% with Richard Pascoe 2nd on that measure at 73.8% & Justin Sercombe had the most winners on 27 with Craig Connelly 2nd on that count at 23.

Still waiting for an unknown selection (that lost) to be identified so delay in sending the final file

04oct13 all ready for last day

Just one winner today that was Vince Paige in Ireland at 6-5 and 10 points.  On the main leader board Richard Pascoe has moved into 10th (the bubble) as all the spare days unwound just 64p behind Ian Carpenter in 9th the final cash paying position.  I have shown a few more of the places on the leader board that are pretty close to that cash spot so selections can be made to win the money!

A very unlucky story for Chris Pascoe who sent in a 16-1 winner but he has no bets left (only the final one for tomorrow) - bad luck! that would have taken him 6th.

In the plate clearly Vince wrapped up the winners spot with his 10 point winner which rather ironically beat the 4th leg of his yankie that had 3 winners and cost him £3000 and he didn't need it anyway as Justin's nap had already lost :-).  All that is left to decide is 4th spot with Dave Kingsbury and i level on 111 but he wins on count back - Craig is also not completely out of it as if both Dave & I fail to score and he were to pick up a 10 point winner he would overtake us both on count back as well.

See you all at Fontwell tomorrow

03oct13 2 to go

Just a solitary winner today (assuming Rod Brown's looses later tonight at Wolverhampton) that was just 3-1, - Paul won't mind me saying that, that is just too little too late, he never got going.  So the only change on the leader board was the appearance of Ian Carpenter into the last cash spot as his games in hand unwound.

In the plate my 2 point 3rd closed the gap to just 2 points for me to grab the final cash spot from Dave Kingsbury, Craig is now the only other player who can catch the 4th place - mathematical chance only though in reality.  Vince can wrap up the win if either Justin fails to score more than 1 point or if Justin scores 2 or more Vince gets within one of that.

Looks like there may be up to a dozen of us enjoying the Fontwell glamour, The Commitments playing after racing!

02oct13 found a workaround

That's better legible again - despite Google's lack of action

Just 3 winners today Craig Connelly 5-2 to move 5th, Tom Feeney 3-1 & Roger Dore 3-1 to move him 3rd by just 57p.  Looking good for the groom to be to collect the top prize now which should make Towcester on 30nov13 go with a swing!!

In the plate Martin Long's single point means he can't catch 2nd now so is confirmed in 3rd spot. 4th spot still up for grabs and Dave's loser today helps my cause.  Actually still mathematically possible for all of Craig in 6th, on 101, with 2 bets to go,  Matt Harrison in 7th, on 96, 2 bets to go, Roger Dore in 8th, 90, 3 bets to go, Rod Brown in 10th, 87, 3 bets to go, Kevin Wood in 11th, 85, 3 bets to go to all catch Dave!

01oct13 driving me mad

Along with about a million others by the look of the tech discussion blogs. So best we have is as shown over just about legible.

Today saw 6 winners including the massive 20-1 for Mark Nutting to catapult him back up to 3rd spot, others of note were Roger Dore, Adam Slater & Jed Parramore all with the same 6-1 winner, Steve Walton, The leader consolidated with a 10-11 winner and lastly Craig Connelly's 6-4 winner maintained his 6th place.

In the plate Vince scraped another 2 points to extend his lead to 10 points level bets

leader board updates

Hi, update problem still persists I have had to file a support case and when I did so earlier this morning it appears that our blog is not the only one with this problem.

the ones over are still pretty current except for number of bets remaining all are less one.

Monday 30 September 2013

30sep13 classic final week day

Loads of bets mostly hunting for big prices so hardly any winners! 3 winners actually Martin Long & Ian Carpenter 1-10 (enough to earn Ian a place and move to 11th) and a best of the day 5-2 for Paul Marks.

In the plate Justin gained a point on the leader and Dave Kingsbury stretched his lead over me to 4 points after mine could only finish 4th

Problem currently updating the tables site won't accept amends - will do later but only change is for Ian as above.

29sep13 gathering for the final assault

Very few bets today especially among the leaders as most chose to use up a blank day and get ready for the final week.  So despite their being only 16 bets that ran there was still 7 winners, two picked Jakey, the best of the day, 10-1 winner, obviously Jake Fifield! and Robert Baker.  A nice 7-1 winner for both Rod Brown & Chris Pascoe, Julian Ciampioli 6-1, Ian Carpenter 15-8 and finally the only winner that affected the leader board was Annette Berg 6-4 that moved her to 9th spot.

I was the only player in the top 6 of the plate to play and failed to score so that unravels my games in hand on Dave Kingsbury and leaves me still 2 behind.  Also that confirms Martin Long's minimum of 3rd place in the plate and £75.

28sep13 Beaucoup change

8 winners overall that saw 2nd & 1st, 4th & 3rd, 6th & 5th in the main comp and 2nd & 1st in the plate all swap places!  Clearly the stand out (and pretty unbelievable) best of the day was Steve Walton picking Bouggler at 22-1 to retake the lead, Roger Dore 7-1 went above Martin Long evens, and Craig Connelly 5-6 winner was enough to move him 5th.  Rod Brown & I both picked the 8-1 winner of the Cambridgeshire my 2nd 8-1 10 point winner in 6 days, but not good enough to move either of us onto the leader board - although it did take me 14p ahead of Vince :-). Vince Paige 9-10 in Ireland and Matt Harrison 7-4 were the remaining 2 winners, that brought up a 4 timer for Matt, nice play.

In the plate Vince's 10 point winner against Justin's single point for a 3rd saw him take an important 9 point lead with just 5 bets left, Martin Long just needs 6 more points to be mathematically certain of 3rd place and cash, the top two are certain collectors.  The final cash spot is Dave Kingsbury sitting out again while I play my in hand bets, one more in hand to go with 3 more points required to move ahead.

One to come in the 9.00pm ignoring that we have 5 winners today Adam Slater best of the day 7-2, Matt Harrison & Richard Pascoe both 13-8 and Vince Paige and Justin Sercombe both 4-11.  Those results shuffled Matt Harrison up a few spots and allowed Richard Pascoe to get onto the foot of the leader board.

Vince Paige kept pace with Justin Sercombe as they both picked the same horse - I suppose a good day for Justin then!

26sep13 London rocks

7 winners today with some jostling for position in the lower reaches of the leader board.  Matt Harrison with a nice 13-2 winner scored the best of the day which took him back onto the leader board in 11th.  Others were Steve Tyson 3-1, Richard Pascoe & Roger Dore 15-8, Paul Creed 11-4, Jimmy McGarrity 11-4 to move him into the cash - pressure is on as he displaced Annette Berg for that spot!  Finally Ian Carpenter with the same 11-4 winner that takes him to -£4.00 and 13th place.

25sep13 much better

As I'm sure most will know catastrophic software failure on my phone and lost everything (yes I know I should back it up!) still mostly reprogrammed now.

8 winners today with a nice best of the day 17-2 for Steve Tyson, Vince Paige, Craig Connelly & Chris Pascoe all picked a 6-4 winner, Kevin Wood 4-1, Roger Dore 4-1, Jed Parramore 10-11 just enough to scrape onto the foot of the leader board & Matt Harrison 2-1. Surprisingly despite so many winners a fairly static top 12.

In the plate Vince scored 5 points to Justin's 2 and so that brought them level on points - Justin stays top on number of winners count-back 26 to Vince's 16 - so that's worth a point which could be very valuable.

I'm out tomorrow in London for dinner so at best update will be Friday morning - will put up the selections before I leave so you can do it for yourselves :-)

Tuesday 24 September 2013

24sep13 move in 2nd

3 winners and the best of the day 9-1 for Steve Walton in 2nd to make a serious bent in Michael Brook's lead, Martin Long 9-4 to move 3rd & Adam Slater 5-4.

In the plate 5 points each for Vince in 2nd and Martin Long in 3rd while the leader missed out for the 2nd day in a row, made the top of the table much tighter.

Just 11 days to go after today will start to put the daily selections up at 1.35pm each day once we have less than 10 to go.

Monday 23 September 2013

23sep13 ordinary fare

4 winners from 37 bets, Annette Berg continued her purple patch with a 15-8 winner and is now 8th that is 6 from 8 since going dormy - won't mention where Paul is :-).   Craig Connelly rose to 6th with a  best of the day 5-2 winner, Martin Long consolidated in 5th 7-4 and finally Jed Parramore 11-8.

No change in the plate except Justin Sercombe missed and so unwound his game in hand with improvement and stays 8 points clear.

22sep12 again - MAJOR CORRECTION

Unfortunately we had a bit of a mess up we have investigated and Vince, Steve & I are happy that Michael Brook did have a bet yesterday and it was a 16-1 winner.

So tables have been amended accordingly and he now sits £25.73 clear of Steve Walton in 2nd - he was probably going to win anyway unless someone found a 50-1 winner and if they do then they will still get there!

Apologies

Sunday 22 September 2013

22sep13 just one winner

And it was me 8-1 & 10 points moved me into the top 20 and closing in on Dave Kingsbury in 4th in the plate to try and capture the final cash paying spot.

Just 13 days left excel on its way

Saturday 21 September 2013

21sep13 well that was rubbish

Absolutely couldn't believe how bad Tropics was it got backed into 6-1 fav which takes a wall of cash in what is one of the top gambling handicaps of the whole year.  Anyway back to our busiest day of the comp with 47 bets but only 2 winners, best of the day for Chris Pascoe 7-2 and Annette Berg with her 5th winner out of 6 at 6-4 to go into a cash position in 9th.

In the plate Vince made up 3 points scoring 5 points for a 2nd and Justin could only manage 2 for a 3rd.

my nap is a cert!!

Well OK maybe not quite as nailed on as that but just take a look at Tropics in the Ayr Gold Cup.  High draw a definite advantage yesterday and he is drawn 26 of 27, 3 wins from the last 4 runs the only miss was in the Stewards Cup at Goodwood where he was drawn badly and ended up in the wrong group away from the leaders.  Since then impressed in listed event that he sluiced up in (OK that form not exactly franked since by those he beat), but he has risen over 20lbs this season so far and I see no reason why there isn't a bit more to come.  In my book he could be still underrated in what is a tough race granted but at 15-1 (strange price!!) and Bet365 paying 1/4 first five some value to be had each way.

Friday 20 September 2013

20sep13 and again!

The leader that is, Michael Brook really piles on the pressure and goes £8.73 clear with a nice 5-2 winner.  There were 6 other winners Justin Sercombe 8-11, Paul Berg 7-1, Ian Carpenter 2-1, Annette Berg to move up to 11th and best of the day for Colin Warmington 14-1 but very P.O. as when selected it was 33-1 :-(

In the plate Justin Sercombe picked up 5 points for his 26th winner of the comp and now sits 11 points ahead level bets.

Thursday 19 September 2013

19sep13 Leader wins again

Michael Brook opened clear water after picking a nice 5-1 winner, not best of the day that honour went to Kevin Wood 10-1 and 10 points, the other winners were Justin Sercombe & me 5-2, Ian Carpenter 7-4, Jo 'the bride to be' Hutson 11-4,  & Steve Tyson 10-11.

In the plate Vince only picked up 2 points for his 3rd so Justin's 10 pointer took him 6 clear with a game in hand & my 10 points brought me to my rightful place on the plate leader board 5th and on the bubble where i have finished in the last two comps!

Wednesday 18 September 2013

18sep13 all quiet

Very little movement today the only change was the arrival of Annette Berg onto the leader board in 12th place after she brought up her treble with a 9-4 winner.  She was one of just 4 winners the others were a best of the day 11-2 for Gary Dighton, Tom Feeney 9-4, & Robert Baker 5-1.

Justin Sercombe effectively edged into the lead today after Vince Paige's could only finish 5th and Justin sat out, I think one bet in hand is just about worth more than the 2 point lead Vince still retains.

Tuesday 17 September 2013

17sep13 top 3 pulling away

5 winners again today, Mark Nutting 11-4 to close back in on the top two in 3rd, Vince Paige 11-4, Jake Fifield best of the day 4-1, Adam Slater 3-1 & Annette Berg brought up a double with a 11-8 winner to move within £2 of the leader board.

In the plate we have a new leader after Justin Sercombe's 2-7 shot broke down and Vince Paige's 10 pointer stormed home at Listowel

16sep13 new leader

5 winners today which included Michael Brook 9-4 that was sufficient to allow him to overtake Steve Walton and go £1.23 clear, Michael has 2 more bets to have than Steve so I would call that pretty even.  Other winners were Steve Tyson best of the day 9-2, Paul Creed 5-2, Julian Ciampioli 11-4, and finally Annette Berg 3-1, who is still well in touch on -£5.99 & 16th place.

In the plate things are looking very ordered with all the bets in hand unraveling with the top three all having had 47 bets we get a true picture ready for the run in.

Monday 16 September 2013

16sep13 25th Anniversay

Yes it is Sue & my 25th today and as we have some evening selections I'm not going to be able to update it until tomorrow.

Yes some thing are sometimes more important than racing!!

Sunday 15 September 2013

15sep13 restrictions are lifted

All our winners at odds of over 33-1 will no long be restricted to a maximum of 33-1 as we are all now in the final 20 bets, so go go go.

Also what a stunning performance by Dermot Weld's horse in the Irish Ledger today absolutely killed the field no-one napped it of course! 5 winners from the 40 bets today best of which was a rather miserly 9-2 for Michael Brook that took him up a place into 2nd, Martin Long evens, Justin Sercombe 11-10, Jay Lewis 9-2, & Roger Dore 6-4 to move him a place or two into 6th were the other winners.

In the plate Justin Extended his lead with a nice 10 point winner Vince Paige picked up 5 for his 2nd place and Martin lost a bit of ground as his winner was only a 3 pointer but he looks securely in the cash in the plate so needs to head for glory in the main comp.

Final day will definitely be at Fontwell on October 5th a few already going let us know if you intend to travel down.

Saturday 14 September 2013

14sep13 leader surges clear

Steve Walton picks up a 9-2 winner to go 5.27 clear other winners Jimmy McGarrity, Carl Dean, Jed Parramore, Dave Kingsbury.

CORRECTION Tom Feeney also had a winner so it was 6 winners from 43 bets

Friday 13 September 2013

13sep13 slow day

Just two winners today and both on the leader board, Craig Connelly 7-2 to go 4th and Dave Barker 3-1 to move 8th.

In the plate Craig Connelly's 5 points moved him a little closer to 4th the last cash paying position

Thursday 12 September 2013

12sep13 new leader again!

Mark Nutting returns to the top after bagging the best of the day 9-1 Paul Marks also picked the same winner to move into the top half.  The only other winner was Paul Berg 7-1 too little too late?

Good day for Justin Sercombe & Martin Long in the plate they sat out and everyone failed to score

Wednesday 11 September 2013

11sep13 no news day

and not much happening here either just 3 winners Vince Paige 9-10 with Annette Berg & Roger Dore both selecting the same 4-1 winner.  This lifted Roger from 7th to 4th.

Justin Sercombe missed so Vince's 5 points closed him right up to the lead.

Tuesday 10 September 2013

10sep13 0-0 good enough

Just 4 winners today best of the day and off the mark for Tom Feeney at 8-1 to move him off bottom spot, Chris Pascoe 85-40, me 11-8 & Justin Sercombe 2-5 were the others.

In the plate Justin's 5 point winner was matched by Vince Paige's 5 point 2nd in the last race of the day - have to say Vince was robbed best horse by miles in the race and jockey got caught by the winner who got first run and he missed by a short head!

Monday 9 September 2013

09sep13 another big one

This time of massive significance as well Steve Walton bangs in a 25-1 winner (a very rare event might be his best ever) and zooms straight up to top spot.  The only other winner was the 8-11 shot for Roger Dore and Paul Creed.

Again another quiet day in the plate a couple of losers at the top was all that happened.

08sep13 massive winner

33-1 but luckily it was for Mark Quinn and he was sitting bottom on -£44.00 so that only lifts him into the top half.  Other winners were Steve Walton 2-1, Dave Barker 8-1 to move him back into a cash position in 7th, Adam Slater 9-2 and Chris Pascoe 11-4.

All quiet again on the plate front

Saturday 7 September 2013

Friday 6 September 2013

06sep13 what a rubbish weeks racing!

6 winners today but the top 10 places remain unaltered, best was Jed Parramore 7-1 that moved him to 11th and closely followed by Jimmy McGarrity 11-2 to chase him onto the board in 12th.  Others were Jo Hutson 11-2, Steve Walton 4-6, Pat Quinn Junior 4-1 & Matty Harrison 9-4.

No action in the plate

Thursday 5 September 2013

05sep13 Wow Wawrinka

One game to go as I write this but I think he is safely through :-)

But even more newsworthy is the brand new leader Michael Brook bangs in a 14-1 winner the outsider of 6 and storms to the top £7.75 clear, Martin long has had 7 more bets than him in 3rd place but is £8.35 back, think I would rather be in Michael's spot.  Five winners in total the other 4 were Craig Connelly again, to move up another place into 4th with his 11-10 winner, Mark Sharman 2-1, Robert Baker 7-1 to move him to just £1.55 down and 15th spot, and Dave Kingsbury 10-11 to maintain his 9th spot the last cash paying position.

In the plate a good day for Justin Sercombe who sat out while 2nd & 3rd both failed to score.

He done it and beaten Murray 6-4, 6-3, 6-2

Wednesday 4 September 2013

04sep13 leader goes dormy!

Mark Nutting (away in Portugal this week) goes dormy so with Martin Long snapping up another short priced winner today (1-6) he is sitting pretty good just 60p behind and 11 more bets, time to sit out for a while!

Only 4 winners in total today, another toughie, apart from Martin Long there was the best of the day from Kevin Wood 3-1, Steve Walton 4-5 and Craig Connelly 6-4 which moved him up a place into 5th.

In the plate both the top two played and both failed to score Martin only scored 2 points and Craig Connelly's 5 points moved him back onto the leader board.

Tuesday 3 September 2013

03sep13 nice easy one

Only Jake Fifield troubled the scorers today with a 9-2 winner to move back onto the leader board, and that was from 33 bets so looks like it was a tough day.

In the plate 3 on the top 6 had a bet and none score even a single point so a good day for those that sat out.

Both Ken Jones & Gary Dighton went dormy today.

Monday 2 September 2013

02sep13 ¿Hablas español?

5 winners today with Michael Brook knocking in the best of the bunch with a 9-2 shot that took him to 8th and in with the pack of players in a heap from 3rd to 8th.  Celeste Beaty & Kevin Wood both 5-2 Dave Barker 13-8 and finally our esteemed leader clearly targeting not having a loser picked a 1-25 winner!

Very quiet in the plate just 2 points each for Martin Long & Vince Paige

Sunday 1 September 2013

01sep13 flipped back again

6 winners today joint best was Jimmy McGarrity & Paul Marks with the 9-2 group 1 winner in Ireland that looks like a very classy horse 2 from 2 Royal Ascot & today.  Pat Quinn Snr 2-1 and 3 of us on the 1-3 winner in Ireland Justin Sercombe, me, & Martin Long sufficient to take him back to the top.

Not much change in the plate despite the winners all to play for.

Excel update will follow later still waiting for some race details from The Curragh

31aug13 flip flop

Sorry for delay some evening selections and I was out

The 8 winners on Saturday brought up the 300 winner mark for the comp, Mark Quinn topped the day with his first winner at 7-1 Matty Harrison 9-2 & Jed Parramore 4-1 were the others at reasonable odds, but none of those troubled the leader board.  Justin Sercombe, Vince Paige & I all picked the same 10 point winner at 11-8 in Ireland with Steve Tyson 2-7 and Craig Connelly 8-11 the final pair.

In the plate the two leaders matched each other and remain 3 points apart, Martin Long while having a few games in hand clearly needs to pay attention to the main comp where the big money prize is he has had 7 bets more than Mark Nutting the leader so should automatically regain the lead when that unravels.

Friday 30 August 2013

30aug13 Gareth just go!

Give us the cash no one is that good!

6 winners from 34 bets and one shinning star, 12-1, for Roger Dore to lift him from 15th to 3rd and right in the mix. Three picked the same 5-1 winner including Annette Berd Carl Dean & Colin Warmington who finally got of the mark, the final two winners were Justin Sercombe 3-13 and Steve Tyson 2-5.

In the plate that 2-5 winner for Justin Sercombe and the 5 points was sufficient to take him top above Vince Paige although Vince now has 2 bets in hand.

Julian Ciampioli went dormy today

Thursday 29 August 2013

29aug13 old leader back

7 winners today one of them 10-11 for Martin Long sufficient to return him to the top of the pile, but the best of the day honour fell to Paul Creed 7-1 to half is negative balance, Michael Brook brought up a nice double with a 9-2 winner to move onto the leader board in 10th.  Other winners were Steve Tyson 13-8, Roger Dore 100-30, Kevin Wood & Jed Parramore both 2-1.

In the plate Martin Long's 5 points closed him up to the top two.  Craig Connelly sneaked onto the foot of the leader board on first place count back (well actually that happened yesterday but I missed it!)

Jon Curtis joined the dormy group today.

28aug13 new leader

Mark Nutting goes top by just 5p after sitting out and Martin Long missing.  The only real action on a day that saw just 2 winners from 32 bets the best of the day was Michael Brook at 4-1 with Jimmy McGarrity the other at 11-4

In the plate the top three all gained a single point

Jake Fifield went dormy today

Tuesday 27 August 2013

27aug13 two fat ladies

8-1 twice were the best winners of the day for Pat Quinn Jnr & Ian Carpenter moving Ian from 12th to 7th, the other two winners from a small total of bets today (just 18 + 6 losers) were Dave Kingsbury 7-2 and Craig Connelly 2-1.

In the plate most sat out the only winner was Dave Kingsbury for 3 points and Martin Long scrapped a point using up a game in hand

Monday 26 August 2013

WE ARE BACK

Let's go all set for tomorrow as we restart after the summer break

Friday 16 August 2013

Just noticed for today

You will have to be quick!

Newbury's listed race at 3.55 today somehow is showing Wind Fire at a shorter price that Lilbourne Lass that can't be right! Lil hasn't been out of the first 2 yet in 5 runs.  Where as Wind Fire's run after the good showing at Royal Ascot can only be described as disappointing.

Live prices on B365 now show them as 15-8JF but still value on Lil

Betless in Seattle

Just wanted to reassure you that the break was necessary - Sue and I dining at the top of the needle yesterday in the revolving restaurant
