27feb13 bad day to sit out

Just loads of very nice winners, so here goes in descending order.  First on the list is of course Bert Peart largest winner of the comp so far 25-1 to zoom straight up to top spot, 10-1 Kevin Hall to just move back positive and in 18th spot, 15-2 for Jake Fifield to scrape onto the foot of the leader board, Celeste Beaty 7-1 to go to +2.50, 11-4 Lee Constable to go back 2nd, Martin Long 11-4 to go into the top 20, Mark Nutting & Tom Ellison both 9-4, Mark Sharman 2-1 to go 9th, + 3 other smaller ones.

In the plate of the top 5 only Barry Pemble played and he picked up 2 points, Scott Bennett regained 6th by scoring 2 points today but only ahead of Chris Pascoe on number of winners count back.

Tuesday 26 February 2013

26feb13 big day

12 winners today from 38 bets 5 of them were on Buthelezi at 10-11 (good price) but which rather unluckily saw a non-runner declared at 1.36pm after all the plate guys had selected it :-).  So clearly I was not one of them.  Best of the day status was a 5-1 winner shared between Annette Berg who moved onto the leader board and Paul Berg (pillow talk again eh!).  Too many to go through the rest.

In the plate top 4 all scored 5 points and 5th & 6th sat out.

Will be a very late update tomorrow as I'm travelling to Atlanta and won't be able to finish it until around 9pm EST (2am GMT) when I get in - sorry.

Monday 25 February 2013

25feb13 Oscar who

6 winning bets today from a rubbish bunch of racing hence only 26 players.  Best of the day was Jed Parramore with a miserly 9-4 winner Lee Constable took over in 2nd place with his 7-4 winner also 7-4 was Pat Quinn Snr, Ross Harvey & Annette Berg both 10-11 and Stuart Bentham 1-3.

All of the top 6 in the plate sat out!

Sunday 24 February 2013

24feb13 not very interesting

8 winners today and 5 of them were the same horse for the everyone in the top five in the plate!  10 points and 4-7, the other three were Chris Pascoe, with the best of the day, 5-2, Celeste Beaty brought up a double with a 7-4 winner, and Gary Dighton 11-10.

So obviously in the plate nothing happened among the leaders but Chris Pascoe did regain 6th spot with his 5 pointer.

Excel update on its way

Saturday 23 February 2013

23feb13 3 dozen

Three 12-1 winners today and it is all change at the top of the leaderboard.  Jon Curtis moves top and Lee Constable follows him up the leader board into 3rd after they both grabbed the 12-1 winner of the feature race at Kempton.  Pat Quinn Snr was the other 12-1 winner but that still left him negative.  Overall 9 winners again today from 39 bets the best of the rest was Mark Quinn 7-1, Martin Long 7-2, Ken Jones 11-4 to scrape onto the leader board, Gareth Chapman 11-4 that brought up a 4 timer for him and a spot on the leader board as well, Dave Kingsbury & Celeste Beaty both  9-4.

In the plate no change on the leader board no-one had a winner!

Friday 22 February 2013

22feb12 too late

That is the result at Dundalk in the 9.20 so assuming that loses over are the leader boards after Friday.  A day that saw another 9 winners from 34 bets.  Best was Stuart Bentham 7-2, leader scored again at 7-4 to stretch a little further ahead, Tom Feeney 7-4, Dave Barker 4-5 to move 6th and 5 of us all on Shotavodka that won very impressively at 4-7, the five were Barry Pemble, Ian Carpenter, me, Annette Berg & Gareth Chapman.

So in the plate Just Barry Pemble & I scored 5 points, the leader Vince Paige sat out, and the others missed again.

21feb13 extreme lateness

I have been severely chastised this morning for missing last night - busy at a quiz event and then rather the worse for wear!

So Thursday was like this 9 winners from 32 bets overall some nice little winners Bert Peart topped the pile with 11-2 that takes him to +2.25 and just off the leader board.  Pat Quinn Jnr 9-2, Gareth Chapman 7-2, Dave Barker 3-1 enough to lift him into a cash paying spot, Ross Harvey 3-1, Paul Berg 9-4, Ian Carpenter reaches double figures for winners with a 2-1 winner that takes him 4th, Terry Mathews also 2-1 and finally Kevin Hall 8-13.  Most of the leaders sat out in the main comp so not much movement apart form Ian's rise.

In the plate Vince Paige moved into what he considers an unassailable lead (far too early to say that) but his 5 point second did move him out to 28 points ahead of 2nd so clearly best placed to win.  But as we all know, to our cost, how many horses that are leading as they go by the post on the first circuit go on and win!  Bad day for the others who's selections got turned over.

Wednesday 20 February 2013

20feb13 burn baby burn

A bit of an in joke with Jade!

Looks like Val Impey may soon be starting after giving us a 15 bet start!  Watch out she's a previous winner of the plate.  So today just 6 winners from 42 bets best was Ross Harvey who got off the mark with a nice 8-1 winner, Annette Berg & Gareth Chapman both picked a 9-4 winner Vince Paige, Gary Pascoe & I all had a 9-10 winner at Punchestown (we'll be there!).

So in the plate the 10 pointer for Vince & I looks good he moves 23 clear and I go 2nd as all the other selections got turned over.

Tuesday 19 February 2013

19feb13 leader scores again

Well in a naps comp sense is all I can comment on!

7 winners from 41 bets today Scott Bennett 7-4, Steve Walton & Justin Sercombe both 5-4, Barry Pemble & me both 8-11, Jimmy McGarrity brought up a double with the best of the day 9-4, Alan Daniels 2-1.

In the plate everyone on the leader board scored 5 points for a win or 16+ 2nd except Justin Sercombe whose winner was a 10 pointer, so he moved above me and into 3rd place.

Monday 18 February 2013

18feb13 biggest winner

Jon Curtis smashes onto the leader board with a 22-1 winner one of 11 winners today from just 30 bets.  Scott Bennett halted the slide back to the pack with a nice 11-2 winner to move comfortably clear of Jon Curtis.  Emperor's Choice at 15-8 was a popular choice providing a winner for Chris Pascoe, Kevin Wood, Roger Dore & Jimmy McGarrity.  Adam Slater & Lee Constable chipped in with a 7-2 winner, Dave Kingsbury 3-1 Daniel Billingham 15-8, and Tom Ellison with 4-1 winner that brought up a quick double were the others.

In the plate Kevin Wood caught up with his 5 point winner but most sat out waiting for the 16+ runner races.

Sunday 17 February 2013

17feb13 nice day!

Obviously not the racing on offer! - the weather :-)

Still we managed 30 bets and 8 winners best was Tom Elliston a new player who got off the mark with a nice 5-1 winner - he is probably a bit miffed at only 5-1 opened at 10s!  Four were on Thunderstorm at 6-4, they were Mark Sharman, Michael Brook, Tom Feeney & Ian Carpenter.  The other winners were Barry Pemble 4-9 and Gary Cawsey and & Dave Barker at 10-11.

Vince Paige's running sequence came to an end after his (and Justin Sercombe's) 4-6 favourite was turned over but he still stretched his lead by a couple more.  Barry Pemble's 5 pointer brought up 8 in a row for him great stuff.

Excel on its way

16feb13 bit late

7 winners from 38 today Mark Quinn best at 9-2, Colin Warmington 7-2 (to go 3rd), Rod Brown 11-4, Dave Kingsbury & Kevin hall both 9-4, me 2-1 to go back second, last and least Vince Paige 4-7 but it did bring up an impressive 5 timer.

In the plate Vince Paige continues his surge away from the field but mainly because his rivals are sitting out, none the less an average of 6.36 is going to take some catching when they do start back up.

Friday 15 February 2013

15feb13 Oh well c'est la vie

9 winners from 35 bets today so I'll mention the 3 bets that were double figures!  Top of the heap was Ken Jones 14-1 (turned over my odds on fav) that moved him just onto the leader board, Dave Barker 10-1 to go 8th & last times winner, Paul Berg, finally got on the leader board with an 11-1 winner to go exactly even in 19th.

Vince was the only winner in the plate as most sat out.

Thursday 14 February 2013

14feb13 love & kisses to all

Well there are a few exceptions actually!  10 winners today from 27 bets again a lot of short priced stuff Chris Pascoe, Kevin Wood, Justin Sercombe & Vince Paige all picked a 10 point 6-4 winner at Thurles, Gary Pascoe, Martin Long, & Terry Matthews both had a 9-4 winner that brought up Terry's treble famine to feast for him.  Others were Ian Carpenter 8-11 for a four timer, Best of the day was only 3-1 from Paul Creed his first winner and finally 5-2 for Mark Nutting.

Plate saw the leaders storming on with 4 of the top 6 with 10 point winners

Wednesday 13 February 2013

13feb13 got your card ready?

Bumper day today 15 winners from 41 entries so far too many to list here best by far was Julian Ciampioli with a nice 12-1 winner to move into 3rd spot.  almost everyone else was chasing low priced high points winners and with some success all round perhaps just worthy of mention was Colin Warmington & Chris Pascoe both with 7-2 winner and 10 points in a tough race at Thurles, that took Colin onto the leader board.

In the plate all of the current top 5 picked the same 10 point winner at Thurles at 8-11 which was a pretty good price was more like a 1-3 shot especially after reading the Post.  A pretty top quality start in the plate actually given that the best ever total in the plate is Barry Pemble on 256 points and Vince is already on 69 after 11.  In fact all of the top 5 are running at a pace that would take them all above 300 points - so that won't happen :-)

Tuesday 12 February 2013

12feb13 pictures are up

See I said I had done it only took 6 weeks+ to get added! 36 bets 8 winners all pretty ordinary pricewise as best was just 2-1 and that was for Terry Matthews & Gareth Chapman who both got off the mark close behind at 7-4 were Ian Carpenter (moved up to 5th) & Dave Kingsbury who moved up to 7=.  Other winners were Steve Walton 11-10 Vince Paige and Barry Pemble & Gary Cawsey all 4-6.

In the plate Vince Paige moved 5 further clear and Barry Pemble moved up 2 from 6th to 4th no one else on the leaderboard scored although most sat out.

Go Real Go :-) - I just want to see Fergie's face

Monday 11 February 2013

11feb13 easy

Well to update for me only 15 bets and a solitary winner from Adam Slater at 7-4. In the plate just Scott Bennett had a bet among the top 6 and that missed so all as was.

Sunday 10 February 2013

10feb13 rain

6 winners from 24 bets today, best of the day was not really anything to write home about just 4-1 for Bert Peart to move him positive and just one spot off of the leader board, others were Gary Cawsey, Michael Brook & Martin Sharman all with the same 11-4 winner Ian Carpenter 1-12, & Steve Walton 4-5.

In the plate a few gathered 2 points for 2nds but the order remianed the same.

Excel update on its way

Saturday 9 February 2013

09feb13 5 timer!

7 winners from 38 today and we brought up our 100th winner.  Best of the day odds wise was Jake Fifield 8-1 but I'm guessing my 5-1 winning nap that brought up 5 horse accumulator at 150-1 today was the most lucrative!! It also took me 2nd on both leader boards.  Other winners were Bert Peart also 5-1, Barry Pemble who is getting into his stride now brings up a five timer at 8-11, Gary Dighton who got off the mark with a 5-4 winner, & Jed Parramore who also got off the mark with a 6-4 winner.  Finally Pat Quinn Snr had a 7-4 winner.

In the plate I moved up to 2nd with my 10 pointer the only other winner was Barry Pemble who is closing in as Vince the leader sat out today.

Friday 8 February 2013

08feb13 Real Quality

8 winners from 34 bets today and a few quality winners topped by Mark Sharman with a 9-1 winner in a 3 horse race!  Closely followed by Scott Bennett (again), Barry Pemble & Dave Kingsbury all 13-2, Colin Warmington & Kevin Hall 11-2, Mark Dighton 4-1, and finally Roger Dore 2-1. So with also those reasonable prices wholesale change on the leaderboard.

All the leaders in the plate missed out except for Scott Bennett and Barry Pemble whose 13-2 winner was also a 10 pointer.

Thursday 7 February 2013

07feb13 Oklahoma!

30 bets again today this time 10 winners remarkably the best was by Colin Warmington, who got off the mark, & Steve Walton with a miserly 5-2 winner.  The 4 big guns in the plate all picked the same 10-11 winner (Vince Paige, Justin Sercombe, Barry Pemble, & Kevin Wood), 3 others picked 13-8 winner (Chris Pascoe, Michael Brook, & Pat Quinn Jnr.) and last but by no means least me with a 1-3 winner in Eire.  So all that didn't affect the main leader board much I lifted a place to 4th above Jimmy McGarrity.

In the plate as most of the top all scored 10 points and Scott Bennett had a loser he lost 2 places. I'm sure we will all be interested to know, (well at least one of us will - no prizes), that Vince has reached 50 points in record time in any comp.  Amusingly a record I expect him to lose tomorrow when Kevin Wood pops in a 10 point winner - go Kev go :-)

Wednesday 6 February 2013

06feb13 Brazil huh! easy

Slow day only 4 winners from 39 bets the very clear best of the day was Jimmy McGarrity 17-2 to leap up to 4th Ina Carpenter consolidated in 3rd with the 1-8 winner.  Other two winners were Martin Sharman 9-4 to move back onto the leader board and Wayne Morton 11-2 to move positive.

Slight change in the plate as everyone missed out Kevin Wood sneaked above me by a point into 3rd.

Tuesday 5 February 2013

05feb13 Scott of the Artic

Well it has been a bit cold anyway but he's red hot another winner today (5-2) and he continues his relentless march away from the rest of us.  All told today 7 winners from 34 bets and apart from Scott we saw winners for Vince Paige, Chris Pascoe & Gary Pascoe on the same 4-6 winner Barry Pemble and Justin Sercombe 1-2 with the other winner 7-4 for Daniel Billingham to get off the mark.

No change in the order at the top of the plate

Monday 4 February 2013

04feb13 apologies Lee

Major cock-up on 31st Jan, by the scorer (me)! Lee Constable had a 12-1 dead heat winner and I didn't notice thought it was 2nd and marked it up as such, so that's corrected and he sits 2nd - sorry Lee good lesson for us all to check sometimes.

So today 7 winners from 38 bets, 3 of us picked the 4-11 winner (Vince Paige, me & Barry Pemble), Martin Long & Scott Bennett both picked a nice 10 pointer at 11-4, Pat Quinn Jnr got off the mark with a 13-8 winner but Stuart Bentham got the best of the day 9-2 to move onto the leader board.  So Scott's Bennett's lead is extended again - a fine start.

In the plate Vince Paige just held onto first place and despite another winner for me I'm now 5 from 6 I slipped down a place to 3rd.

Sunday 3 February 2013

03feb13 go 49ers go

Another bumper 14 winners again today from just 29 bets we don't often get up to nearly 50% win rate.  Helped by the two most popular selections both winning they were Colbert Station, McCoy's only ride at Punchestown today that won at 11-10 (good price!) and for 10 points, there were 6 on that one and 4 on Brick Red at Musselburgh that won at 5-2.  Best of the day was Tom Feeney with a 13-2 winner to go onto the leader board closely followed by Roger Dore with a 6-1 winner Mark Sharman 9-4 and Dave Kingsbury 5-4 were the other 2 winners.

In the plate Vince Paige hit the top with his 2nd 10 point winner today.

The general impression after the first week is that this is being taken pretty seriously proper horses being selected rather than speculative long shots, looks like this will be a tough one to win.

Still have 4 players left to have their first bet Daniel Billingham, Mark Dighton, Val Impey (as usual!) & Gareth Chapman.

Vince will send the excel update later today or first thing in the morning.

Saturday 2 February 2013

02feb13 poor day

5 winners from 39 bets with the really popular naps both going down they were Oscara Dara 13th (7 selections) and The Bear Trap 2nd (4 selections).  That left Scott Bennett to go top after going 2 for 2 and picking a 6-1 winner to follow up his 11-2 winner Thursday, Ian Carpenter brought up a treble with a 9-2 winner to go 2nd.  Other winners were Julian Ciampioli who opened his account with a pretty fortunate 1-2 winner in Captain Conan, Wayne Morton & Adam Slater both picked a 6-5 winner.

Justin took over at the top of the plate from me with his 2 point 2nd.

Daniel Billingham has paid, so we are good to go with a confirmed 55 runners - the results excel issued this Sunday will show the prize structure.

Friday 1 February 2013

01feb13 leaving on a jet plane

Another good day with 8 winners from 28 bets.  First biggish winner of the comp for Michael Brook at 10-1 to, predictably at this early stage, lift him to top spot.  Other of note were Dave Kingsbury 11-2 to move him  onto both leader boards 4 on Get Back in Line at 2-1 and the other two on the 4-5 winner Hidden Justice.

In the plate I kept up my 100% record going 3 for 3 and lead on count back from Justin Sercombe also 20 points but only 2 winners.
