30mar11 go India go

29 bets 7 winners but best was only 11-4 Gary Cawsey. Dave Fifield is 2nd 27.50 behind Ken Jones, the leader, who sits clear of the field on +37.00. Slight sign we are getting our act together (royal we of course!), we have now got 13 players in profit.

Good news Pete Long has drifted out of the cash - unfortunately still miles ahead of me!

In the plate Martin Long is opening a slight lead 43 points to Stuart Bentham's 37 - level bets.

picture needed

Someone chase Lee Constable for the back of the bus picture and I'll upload it - it will get rid of Kevin and Pete so big incentive :-)

28mar11 steady

25 bets 5 winners nothing stunning

For those who don;t check their excel update the current leader is Ken Jones after he followed up a 22-1 winner Friday with a 16-1 winner Saturday. That puts him on +37.00 and 25.50 clear of Dave Fifield on +11.50, Trevor James 3rd +8.00 Jed Parramore 4th and, I'm guessing a very proud, Jimmy McGarrity on +7.87 in 5th. Joanne O'Brien is 6th and the last in the money but she has only had 4 bets - what's up Jo?

Leadership in the plate changes almost every day tonight Martin Long has regained top spot on 39 3 points clear of joint 2nd place Jed Parramore and Kevin Wood.

Bit light on the paying getting the cash in early gives us a little interest to cover costs of engraving and shipping - so hurry up!

28mar11 yes! yes! yes!

got it!!!!!!

After a complete reconstruction of the blog, install new Chrome browser, and spending hours Googling all sort of weird geek sites found the answer to the problem and we are back

OK better do the update then

Olympics thought (rant) of the day

I agree the athletes that win gold medals for GB are indeed inspirational but so are Ryan Giggs/Wayne Rooney etc. but we don't give them tax payers money!

You want to play games, pay for it yourself - like I have to

We are about to charge our surgeons of the future to study and make them pay it back from their earnings how does that compare with these guys who simply run around become millionaires if they win where is their repayment obligation.

£725.00 for a ticket - bollocks roll on 2013!

Maurice Edgington

21mar11 antelope

26 bets 4 winners Mark Nutting, Martin Long (takes him top of the plate), Rod Brown, Stuart Bentham.

Apart from that no changes

Sunday 20 March 2011

20mar11 much better!

Very slow day only 19 bets but 10 winners! all resonably short priced, Mark Kelly's 5-1 winner was the best one that took him exactly even.

Good point scoring in the plate makes it pretty tight at the top there, with Trevor James just staying aheand of Kevin Wood and Martin Long in 3rd.

Excel has been sent.

19mar11 Grand Flop!

Slow day for a Saturday, hangover from the excesses of the week, just 23 bets and 3 winners.  The winners were Adam slater 7-4, Dave Fifield with a nice 15-2 winner to go up and into 8th and Jed Paramore again who switched to Eire and collected a 5-1 winner to go 3rd on +6.37 and also take over at the top of the plate from Kevin Wood both on 24 points Jed ahead on countback.

Trevor James remains 4.00 clear on +13.00 on the main leaderboard with Peter Long 2nd.

18mar11 Chelters day 4

Look out for the great team photo on the bus - as long as Lee can remeber how to email it!

Brilliant day on course and a decent bunch of napsters in attendance Jimmy McGarrity hot from his singing gig got off the mark.  The other winners were me with the nap that Kevin Dighton gave me on Thursday which I stupidly forgot to back that pissed it at 9-4 and finally Vince Paige with the best of the day a 10 point 13-2 winner.

So overall not a great performance across Chelters 126 naps across the meeting and 13 winners with a best priced of only 10-1.

Thursday 17 March 2011

17mar11 Chelters day 3

All this with one bet in the Wolverhampton 8.45 from Jed Paramore to go.  34 bets 4 winners today Stuart Bentham, of course, did Big Bucks and what a performance from that horse rated the best jumper currently in training and a great win on merit from some good performers with no hard luck stories.  Other winners were Rod Browm 100-30, Bert Peart 15-8 & Dave Kinsbury had his first ever winner with the best of the day 7-1 Albertas Run.

Trevor remains top of both leaderboards.

Peter Long has just arrived and is sat counting his winnings from the last comp and we are off to help him spend it in town shortly

16mar11 Chelters day 2

Another clean sweep of bets at Cheltenham and as we would guess pretty unsucessful only 2 winners from 34 bets. the main one of significance was Trevor James with Chicago Grey at 5-1 to take him top and replace Pete as leader on +15.00 4.00 clear.  Other winner was Joanne O'Brien at 7-1.

So that 10 point winner for Trevor (his second!) also takes him top of the plate

early days

Tuesday 15 March 2011

15mar11 Chelters Day 1

A clean sweep for, I think, the first time ever that we have all had a bet at the same meeting when we didn't necessarily have to.  29 bets 5 winners.  3 managed to get Hurricane Fly at what must be a disapointing price of 11-4 and a nice 10-1 winner for Ken Jones with Drivers in the last.  Only other winner was 5-6 for Stuart Bentham.

Brilliant day weather wise here in Cheltenham today, even though I was in the office, and more of the same tomorrow they are forecasting.

14mar11 slow day

Only 19 bets today everyone getting prepared for the big Chelters meeting.  3 winners Kevin Hall gets on the board with a 4-6 shot and both James Foley and Barry James pick the same 5-2 winner.

Pete Long remains top, 2.00 clear of Trevor James and Joanne Hutson who have both had 2 bets more than Pete.  Jed is top of the plate on 16 points 3 clear of Martin Long.

The theme for Cheltenham this week is Gin & Tonic - Steve Walton & I got the week off to a reasonable start last night!

Work for me today but expect Menorah to oblige today in the champion hurdle

World's worse bad beat

For those interested in this sort of thing how about this one!

Big tourney 8,200 enties at $50 - we are in the cash I'm sitting about 500th out of 950 left.  I'm Big Blind with AA in the hole everyone folds round to the Small blind who raises a standard x3 raise I flat call trying to get some action.   Flop is 5AK great flop for me I'm trips aces and must have top hand.  I raise to 4x BB trying to keep him playing as he has double my stack and I'm looking to get doubled up, he calls.  Turn is another K I'm sitting now with top Full House AAAkk he is first to bet and goes in pretty strong I'm thinking ok maybe he has A rag or even AK - works for me still ahead in either case so I go all in and he calls with K4!!!

Yes you guessed it river is another K so my AAAkk full house gets beaten by quad kings - LOL

13mar11 back to one

Slow day with only 16 bets and an even slower one for winners just a solitary odds on shot from Eire at 9-10 for Kevin Wood.

First distribution of the update excel will take place now - Vince will send out as he has keeps all the email records.

Saturday 12 March 2011

12mar11 still two

24 bets and still only two winners, ok they were a little more impressive, Bert Peart 6-1 and Barry James 9-2.  So not much change in the main leaderbosrd Pete Long & Trevor James still joint leaders on +13.00 Joanne Hutson slips back to 3rd on + 12.00 by virtue of having an extra bet.

In the plate Jed Parramore's 5 point 2nd takes him top with 3 winners and now 16 points

Only Mark Orlando left to have a bet after today

11mar11 come on!

Another 2 winner day 4-6 for Stuart Bentham and 5-2 for Gary Dighton - rubbish guys! from 28 bets.  Only three left to have their first bets now then prizes will be confirmed.

Sorry late but a few Friday night at Wolverhampton slections and clearly I'm not wasting my Friday nights waiting for those!

Anyone going to Cheltenham? - there are a few of us going on some of the days - let us know

Thursday 10 March 2011

10mar11 rubbish

2 days 49 bets and only 3 winners best priced was 6-5! and Jed had two of the three! Stuart Bentham kick off his campaign with a winner, the only other one.

Looks like I picked a good week to sit out it must be tough

Tuesday 8 March 2011

08mar11 big pair

Yes 2 more 16-1 winners from the 4 winners today.  Joanne Hutson and Trevor James were the guys so that puts them joint top on +15.00 alongside Peter Long.

Trevor's was also a 10 pointer so a nice start for him.  The other winners were Vince Paige 15-8 and Steve Walton 5-2 from a total of 27 bets.

Still 9 players yet to have their first bet

Monday 7 March 2011

07mar11 slow

Yet to get into its stride in these early days 20 bets and just 3 winners, Kevin Dighton 5-2, Roger Dore 3-1 to go 2nd, and Jed Paramore 4-6.

Still 16 players to have their first bet

That's all folks

Sunday 6 March 2011

06mar11 day 1

There's me thinking new comp new and exciting start but here we are end of day one and Pete Long has had a 16-1 winner and is clear already - I know long way to go etc.etc. its just the 8 hours each day I will be in the bars at Cheltenham with him next week at least he will have some cash as I have still got his cash winnings from the last comp!

Quiet start and a few winners 4 in total from 21 bets Martin Long showed his intentions early on this time with a 10 point winner and the first ever from Eire at Naas. James Foley and Pat Quinn Jnr were the other winners.

Welcome to the new boys most of which kicked off with a bet today

Won't bother to send out the new excel update file - ring Pete and he will walk you through it I'm sure :-)

06mar11 we're off
