PROPOSED DATES FOR NEXT COMP

Vince tells me we already have 19 entrants paid and in for the next comp well done very keen!

Our thoughts for the next comp are ending at different venue Warwick for some evening "summer" jumps racing this would be Saturday 11th May not sure of the start time yet but probably 5pm or so at that time of the year.  This is Ladies Night so bring partners or dress up :-)

That puts us starting on Sunday 10th February 2019, and we will include the 3 big festivals of Cheltenham, Aintree & Punchestown

Will pick up the reminders and high intensity entrants drive at the end of January

Have a good and profitable Xmas & New Year

Maurice

Sunday 9 December 2018

The Sandown contingent all except Jo who had to leave sharpish, i think we did the champagne bar proud
Remarkably Pete wasn't wearing that Xmas jumper for a bet!
2nd place Mark Sharman graciously handing over the cup to Kevin Dighton on behalf of his brother Gary (well through gritted teeth)

FINAL DAY REPORT

Massive commiserations to Martin Long who in the last few days lost a good lead to two big winners and o rub salt into the wound also finished on the bubble in the plate, still, at least he collected cash!  Congratulations to Gary Dighton great total for the comp the 3rd highest in the history of 45 competitions and the two that have been higher were the two comps that had 100-1 winners in them so great stuff.  Steve Carter also picked the same 40-1 winner as Gary so he moved up from 42nd place to 5th on the last day.  Jason McConkey also got last day cash with his 10-1 winner taking him to 7th the other 3 winners were Steve Taylor 10-1, Stuart Bentham 8-13, and 2 points so just enough to pip Vince for 2nd place in the plate on winners countback.  We should also recognize the great winner performance from Stuart 36 winners (59.0%) and only 4 selection that didn't make the frame! and finally Nobby Camunzuli 15-2 but not enough.

Great comp this time - we are working on timing for the next one but it definitely won;t start until February 2019.

Pictures of the team at Sandown will be put up later

08dec18 FINAL DAY

A full detailed update will appear here later this morning but headlines on a day of high drama were the two players who grabbed the 40-1 winner in the opener and farsical race at Aintree one of those was Gary Dighton so he smashed his way into an unassailable lead and won

Saturday 8 December 2018

07dec18 ONE TO GO

Best of the day was me!! 16-1 to move me just a few pence off the cash positions in a very tightly congested part of the table with just over £3 covering all the places from 10th to 19th.  The other 3 winners were Will Parker 11-2 to move into 11th, Tom McGarrity 12-1 to give himself a chance of cash and finally, Jason McConkey also 11-2 to go into 19th spot on +£1.25

Thursday 6 December 2018

06dec18 THREE

So, 3 winners, today best was Andy Pitter 16-1 he is now 17th on 79p down.  Most significant at least in terms of the leaderboard was Robert Logan at 6-1 to move into the last cash position in 10th relegating Stuart to the bubble.  Finally, Stuart Bentham who's certainly won his 100.00 prize so now just playing to catch Vince in second, go Stuart go!!

05nov18 NO WINNERS

So nothing to update (sorry out last night) full update tonight

Tuesday 4 December 2018

04dec18 ONE SOLITARY WINNER

Well done Helen Fahey for preventing another blank day with her 15-8 winner that puts her on the bubble.

Another update sent tonight with 4 days to go

Monday 3 December 2018

03dec18 MASSIVE TOP OF THE TABLE WINNER

9 winners but no doubt of the most significant and that was the 20-1 winner for Mark Sharman who was £10 behind Martin in second and now sits £10 clear ita tough ask for Martin now he only has 2 bets to go.  The others were top by Adrian Hunt & Will Parker who both picked up a 10-1 winner enough to take Will to  +£1.54 and 16th place.  Andy Pitter & Martin Long 6-5, Chris Pascoe best of the day and off the mark with a 25-1 winner, Nigel Clifford 11-1, Stuart Bentham 1-7 & Steve Taylor were the rest.

Sunday 2 December 2018

02dec18 LAST SUNDAY UPDATE

6 winners best of the day and off the mark for Tom Feeney 20-1, two more of those for cash! 2 players nabbed a nice 16-1 winner Andy Pitter & Stan Moore to move Stan into the money in 7th place.  Stuart Bentham 4-6, Andy Stevens 100-30 & Gary Dighton 6-5 were the others.

Congratulations to Robert Logan who now can't be caught in the plate and is the winner unseating Vince who has won it for the past two comps and 12 times in all.

Saturday 1 December 2018

01dec18 JUST 3

Stand out winners were joint best of the day for both Mark Lowry & Colin Warmington at 12-1 but they were both well back so in fact no changes at all in the leaderboard, the other winner was, of course, Stuart Bentham 4-6.

30nov18 BIG WINNERS

Sorry for late update but naps right through to the 9.00 last night

Big news and best of the day for Mark Nutting 20-1 that pushes him up to 4th and right in the mix at the top of the leaderboard.  Jimmy McGarrity and I both picked up a 14-1 winner not enough for me but for Jimmy it moves him into 10th the last cash paying spot.  Four other winners they were Ernie Moore a consolidating 2-1 winner, Martin Long & Mark Sharman both the same 11-4 winner to move those 2 clear of the chasing field & finally Chris Martin 4-1 to move up a spot to 6th

Thursday 29 November 2018

29nov18 ANOTHER SLOW ONE

Just 4 winners they were Robert Logan 6-4 and 10 points which means just 1 more point from his final 3 bets guarantees him victory in the plate.  Ernie Moor 3-1 Jamie Hill 5-4 to nudge up one place and best of the day for Andy Stevens 6-1 but he is well down he is even below me!!

Tuesday 27 November 2018

27nov18 STANDARD FAYRE

6 winners best was 16-1 for Steve Carter which halved is negative total, most significant was for Andy Grinter 10-1 to move 4th,  others were Andy Pitter 100-30, Paul Berg 8-1, Martin Long 5-4, and finally Colin Warmington 9-4.

Monday 26 November 2018

26nov18 WELL DONE IN SRI LANKA LADS

6 winners Will Parker 9-4, Martin Long the leader another canny 4-6 winner, Jamie Hill 6-5, Chris Martin best of the day 13-2 to go into 4th spot, Ben Cheetham 6-1 & Andy Pitter 6-5.

Sunday 25 November 2018

25nov18 TOUGH ONE

Just 3 winners today our leader Martin Long played a smart hand and went for a decent 7-4 favourite on the come and catch me if you can basis - could he be the first ever 4 time winner?  The other two were best of the day Helen Fahey 11-4 and perhaps, of course, Stuart Bentham 4-11 after a few days sat out, that was his 50th runner that has finished in the frame from just 54 bets

24nov18 JUST A HAND FULL

Best was Carl Dean 7-1 but he needs a few more of those to feature, Andy Grinter picked up a few spots on the leaderboard with his 6-1 winner,  Jamie Hill consolidated with a 5-4 winner, Michael Brook 13-2 and Paul Moulton 4-5 were the final pair.

Saturday 24 November 2018

23nov18 EDINBURGH

Getting ready for the Scotland v Argentina game at Murrayfield today.  So a late report on yesterday because of so many evening runners, a total of 9 winners topped out by a second 20-1 winner of the week for Tommy Smith to move him to the middle of the leaderboard.  Plenty of others they were,  Annette Berg 7-1, Darren Mills 5-2, Jamie Hill & Robert Logan both evens, Mark Sharman 4-6, Kevin Roberts 9-1 & Stan Moore 12-1 to see both of them move to the foot of the leaderboard and finally Will Parker 9-4.

Friday 23 November 2018

22nov18 HELLO FROM SCOTTY

5 winners joint top for Natasha Tizzano & Helen Fahey at 13-2, me 3-1, Dave Brammer 9-2, Gary Dighton 8-11.

Wednesday 21 November 2018

21nov18 ANOTHER SLOW ONE

Just 5 winners today stand out was Steve Taylor live from Hexham at 12-1, Mark Nutting 13-2 who moved up to 4th, the others were Gary Dighton 10-11, Jamie Hill 5-4, & Tom McGarrity also 10-11.

Interestingly in the plate where it sort of looks all over if Robert Logan just secures 2 points a race all the way in then Vince has to hit 11 x 5 point winners to draw level - then he would lose on 2nd place countback! which would be interesting to comment on at Sandown :-)

Tuesday 20 November 2018

20nov18 ONLY FOUR

Yep that's it today Jamie Hill & Robert Logan both evens, Tom McGarrity best of the day 11-1 and running him close for top spot was Dave Klein 10-1

Monday 19 November 2018

19nov18 HIGH TOP OF THE TABLE DRAMA

Martin Long previously sitting 3rd and a fair way back smashes in a 20-1 winner to zoom top and having played 3 more bets that looks a strong position.  8 other winners and they were  Colin Warmington & Gary Dighton both 13-2, Dave Brammer 4-1, Robert Logan 4-6, Ernie Moore 3-1 to move up a spot, Kevin Dighton off the mark at last at 11-8, Stuart Bentham 30-100, & finally Will Parker 11-10.

Sunday 18 November 2018

18nov18 DIFFICULT

Must have been a difficult one today or are we just all looking for long shots!  So just 3 winners best of the day and off the nark with a bang for Gary Pascoe and the 20-1 winner Nietzsche other were Pete Long 6-1 to go 8th, Paul Moulton 4-1 to go 6th.

The rule for maximum odds of 33-1 now no longer applies as we all only have 20 bets or less left, all you need to do is find such a winner :-)

Saturday 17 November 2018

17nov18 WELL DONE

The 3 players who all picked Baron Alco in the Gold Cup today they were Andy Stevens, Michael Brook and our now run away leader Mark Sharman nearly £10 clear with only 13 bets to go.  The other 4 winners were a nice best of the day for Tommy Smith at 20-1 that takes him to just £4.25 down so in touch, Robert Logan 5-6 and 5 points to move away from Vince at the top of the plate could Vince be beaten? Final pair were Jason McConkey 9-1 to reach the foot of the leaderboard & Stuart Bentham 1-5 to bring up his 29th winner which is a bigger total on his own than the bottom 19 players together!

Friday 16 November 2018

16nov18 ONE TO COME

Position before Dave Klein's late bet is 5 winners topped by Darren Mills following up his opener with a 9-2 winner today, also Andy Grinter joint top 9-2 to go 7th, Ernie Moore 2-1, Roger Dore 9-4 & Ray Harper 4-1.

15nov18 WOW WHAT A DAY

16 winners our best ever for this comp star of the day 40-1 for Jo Hutson unfortunately as she has had less than 41 bets the maximum applies so that is restricted to just 33-1 but that takes her to -25p and back in the game.  A comment that also applies to Darren Mills bottom of the main comp and the plate and he gets off the mark with a 33-1 shot nice hit.  Other decent winners were Andy Pitter 9-2, Paul Moulton 100-300 to go 7th, Roger Dore finally getting into his stride after 26 bets in a row at the start without a winner now 4 from the last 11 this time 13-2.

Wednesday 14 November 2018

14nov18 QUIET DAY

But not for Ann Mills who makes an appearance in 10th on the leaderboard after a cracking 16-1 winner.  There were just 4 other winners they were Mary Lowry 2-1, Roger Dore 11-4, Stuart Bentham 2-5, and Tom McGarrity 9-2.

Tuesday 13 November 2018

13nov18 TRIPLE WHAMMY

Well, that made the update easier at Chelmsford!  3 people all had the same 25-1 winner to move them all onto the leaderboard they were Pete Long, Stan Moore & Kevin Roberts others were Annette Berg 4-1, Gary Dighton 5-2, and a nice winner for Helen Fahey at 7-1 who moves up to 9th.

Monday 12 November 2018

12nov18 USUAL MONDAY

Although we did manage 7 winners, the top two in the plate slugging it out both with the same 9-4, 10 pointer, best of the day for Will Parker at 7-2 to sneak onto the foot of the leaderboard mainly because I extended it! The remaining 4 were Pete Long & Ernie Moore both 5-2, Mark Lowry 8-15 & Ben Cheetham 7-4.

Sunday 11 November 2018

11nov18 AND ON A MORE TRIVIAL NOTE!

Double whammy 2 people pick the same 25-1 winner Carl Dean, who definitely needed it! but more significantly and to take over at the top our new leader Mark Sharman - good stuff lads.  In total there were 7 winners so the other five were 3 of us at 11-4 me, Helen Fahey & Tom McGarrity, Rod Brown 4-1 & Vince Paige 5-4.

11nov18 LEST WE FORGET

They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old:
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
We will remember them.

Robert Laurence Binyon, 1914

Saturday 10 November 2018

10nov128 ANOTHER BUMPER DAY

14 winners again today so here goes 3 all got the 8-13, 10 pointer and no guesses for which three Stuart Bentham, Robert Logan & Vince Paige.  Annette Berg & Andy Stevens both 5-1, Chris Martin 9-1 best of the day and good enough to go 3rd.  The leader kept up his fine form with a 6-4 winner, & Jamie Hill got the tactics right after his long-shot put him back in the game with a nice 11-4 winner to consolidate near the top.  The final 6 were Jason McConkey & Jimmy McGarrity both 11-2, Michael Brook 5-2, Martin Long evens in the 2 horse race! Paul Moulton & Rod Brown both 2-1.

Thursday 8 November 2018

08nov18 JAMMIE JAMIE!

Yep, the biggest winner of the comp 33-1 for Jamie Hill, to zoom up from the depths to 4th won by a short head!!  In total 6 winners and the other 5 were topped by a nice 10-1 winner for Adrian Hunt, also on the scoresheet, today was Ben Cheetham 15-8, Ernie Moore 100-30, Steve Taylor 6-1, and finally Stuart McLeod 9-4 to recapture 2nd spot.

Monday 8 October 2018

08oct18 USELESS PERFORMANCE

Just 5 winners and 3 of them were the 1-25 winner of the 2 horse race, to be fair I don't think they imagined it would be that short but there was a non-runner, the three were Stuart Bentham, Stuart McLeod &  Mark Lowry, Dave Sharman popped in with his 2nd winner 9-2 and Adrian Hunt got off the mark nicely with the best of the day 10-1.  This was on the busiest day of the comp with basically two winners, backing up my contention that Mondays are a day to leave the naps alone!

AND THE WINNER OF THE 100,000TH NAP IS

13.14 99,996th Thomas Smith
13.14 99,997th Will Parker
13.14 99,998th Ben Cheetham
13.17 99,999th Adrian Hunt
13.18 100,000th PAUL STOBBART
13.18 100,001st unluckily Stuart Bentham

Sunday 7 October 2018

07oct18 GETTING CLOSE

Just 5 winners today Gary Dighton 11-10, Robert Logan 4-5, Stuart Bentham 2-5 for a four-timer and joint best of the day at the pathetically low odds of 5-4 was me and Tom McGarrity.

SO WE ARE IN STRIKING DISTANCE OF THE 100,000TH NAP JUST 38 BETS TO GO THAT IS ABOUT AVERAGE FOR A DAYS NUMBER OF BETS SO THE FREE ENTRY PRIZE COULD BE CLAIMED TOMORROW  - WATCH THIS SPACE

Saturday 6 October 2018

06oct18 NEWCASTLE WHAT HAVE YOU DONE?

How did they lose that game conceding 3 goals in the final 20 minutes -oh well!  Just 5 winners for us so a pretty rough day, Andy Pitter 15-8, Jimmy McGarrity best of the day 11-2 to move onto both leaderboards, Martin Long 2-1, Paul Moulton continued his good run with a 5-1 winner, and finally Stuart Bentham brought up a treble with a 1-4 winner and lies just 1 point off the plate leaderboard.

05oct18 STANDARD FAYRE

Ordinary day 6 winners best of the day was Vince Paige 10 points and 7-2 is he back in the race for the plate?  Three players Kevin Wood, Jimmy McGarrity, & Brian Hammon all had the same 6-4 winner, Stuart Bentham 4-9 & Mark Sharman 5-2 were the other two.

Thursday 4 October 2018

04oct18 HANDFULL

They were Vince Paige & Paul Stobbart both 1-3, Stuart Bentham 8-11 and joint best of the day for Dave Brammer & Kevin Wood at 4-1.

Wednesday 3 October 2018

03oct18 MOGG!

7 winners today and a few that impacted the leaderboards.  Mark Nutting 8-1 was best of the day and that took him the same amount up and he now sits on the bubble in 11th.  Chris Martin 3-1 to move up to 8th, Gary Dighton 5-2 to go 5th, Mark Lowry & Mark Sharman both the same, & finally Will Parker evens. So we only saw winners from players now on the leaderboard a strange circumstance with so many winners.

Oh and Pete Long had a winner as well 7-1

02oct18 SLOW DAYS

Double day update from two very slow days (thanks as I'm away until tomorrow) with only 4 winners in total across both, best was Ian Carpenter 10-1 closely followed by Paul Moulton at 9-1 the other winners were Paul Stobbart 4-1 & Annette Berg 4-5,

Monday 1 October 2018

30sep18 QUIET DAY

Just 6 winners on Sunday but these included a couple of nice ones.  Ann Mills 10-1 to move onto the leaderboard but best of the day was at Gary Dighton at 1-1, Dave Brammer 10-11, Kevin Wood 100-30, Mark Sharman & Tom McGarrity both 7-2 were the final 2.

Saturday 29 September 2018

29sep18 COUPLE OF NICE WINNERS

As well as another nice 8-1 winner for Stuart the leader and now pulling clear!  The best of the day was Martin Long at 12-1 to move back to the leaderboard in 11th place.  Dave Brammer got off the mark with an 8-13 winner, Helen Fahey 7-2, Jason McConkey made it onto both leaderboards with a very nice 11-1 winner of the big one at Newmarket.  The final two winners of the 7 today were Will Parker 9-4 & Mark Lowry 2-1.

I'm away at a conference for the next few days - I'll do my best to update!

Friday 28 September 2018

28sep18 WELL THAT WAS SHORT LIVED!

Just 5 winners today most significant was Richard Pascoe's immediate response to Stuart closing the gap at the top right down after his 3-1 winner, Gary Dighton & Chris Martin had the joint best of the day at 5-1 Robert Logan popped in another short priced winner to forge ahead even further in the plate at just 2-7 though.  Finally, there was a 4-1 winner for Colin Warmington who is getting close to even.

QUESTION

What's all these naps today on Mister Universum in the 4.00 Worcester it drifted from 14-1 to 20-1 now.  Anyone know anything?

Don't want to miss a 20-1 winner - text me :-)

27sep18 IN OUR STRIDE NOW

11 winners on Friday best and of most significance was Stuart McLeod with another 12-1 winner to go nicely clear at the top despite Richard Pascoe's 5-2 winner.  Others were, Andy Stevens & Jason McConkey both 11-4, Helen Fahey 7-2 to get onto the leaderboard, Mark Nutting brought up a double with a 2-1 winner, Mark Sharman 5-2, Robert Logan a nice 11-2 shot to get onto the main leaderboard and 10 points to look very good at the top of the plate as well, Tommy Smith had the same 11-2 winner which gives him 3 from the last 4 and putting him +1.25.  Last two were Vince Paige given up with long shots and so picked a 8-11 winner and Will Parker a nice 5-1 winner to bring him onto both leaderboards and he's a rookie!

Wednesday 26 September 2018

26sep18 MUST HAVE BEEN EASY!

First double-figure number of winners -10.  Joint best of the day was Dan Mason (to go 22nd) & Nobby Camunzuli (to go 7th).  Three players all had 7-2 winners, Colin Warmington, Rod Brown & Will Parker, two had 4-7 winners Paul Stobbart & Robert Logan, Chris Martin 9-4 to make it into the cash, just, Andy Grinter 11-10 & finally Stuart Bentham evens to finally make it onto the plate leaderboard.

Tuesday 25 September 2018

25sep18 WIERD!

6 winners today and half of them were the same 12-1 winner!  So that took Stuart McLeod up to 2nd, Dan Mason to 4th and got Mark Nutting off the mark and just positive in 14th.  The leader notched up another decent winner to hold on to the lead at 9-2.  The final pair were Tommy Smith, who brought up a double at 7-4, and Gary Dighton, off the mark, at 7-2.

Monday 24 September 2018

Wednesday 19 September 2018

19sep18 MISERLY

Just 4 winners from 34 bets!  More important on the leaderboard was Mark Sharman's best of the day 5-1 response to Richard's winner yesterday the two are forging a little clear, looks like a classic case of two front runners racing each other early on will they get the trip :-).  The other 3 winners were me 4-6, Natasha Tizzano off the mark at 9-4, and Stuart Bentham 11-4.

Tuesday 18 September 2018

18sep18 WHAT HAPPENED IN MILAN!

The slowest day so far just 26 bets but some nice winners topped by Richard Pascoe 12-1 to zoom clear at the top.  This is a revelation for the Pascoe family could they get their hands on the cup for the first time - no pressure :-).

Five other winners Gary Wheeler got off the mark with a 10-1 winner to join Stuart McLeod on +£4.00 nice Zuidam company rivalry there.  Brian Hammon off the mark with a 3-1 winner, Helen Fahey 2-1, Jason McConkey brought up a double with a 13-2 winner to go onto the leaderboard in 9th, and finally Martin Long 11-8.

Monday 17 September 2018

17sep18 V SLOW

On what looked like a poor days racing we only had 27 bets and just 4 winners, Will Parker's switch to odd on has worked and he has had a quick double.  Best of the day was Steve Taylor who is determined to nap every one of Poppy Bridgewaters' winners and did today at 7-2.  The other two winners were Paul Stobbard 5-4 and now 3 winners from 5 & Robert Logan 13-8 to reach the foot of the leader board and take over at the top of the plate.

Sunday 16 September 2018

16sep18 PHEW HOT HERE!

Thursday 13 September 2018

13sep18 JUST A COUPLE

Wednesday 12 September 2018

EXTRA PRIZE ANNOUNCED!

We have a little bit of interest that we need to spend so we are going to give away a free entry to the next comp for the person who sends in the 100,000th nap!!

Before the start of this comp we had had 98,937 naps and as at close today that was up to 99,072.  So if we have say about 35-40 naps a day sometime in the first week of October I will get the 100,000th entry whoever that is will get the free go.

I will keep the running total going on the blog (Vince & I are excluded from winning this for obvious reasons!)

A small thought for the person who has typed all those in and looked up every result :-)

12sep18 YES!

Apologies to Dave Klein for missing his winner off the blog report last night 85-40, 7 winners today including me at 4-1, Jo Hutson, the defending champ off the mark with an 11-4 winner, the joint leader, Mark Sharman  9-4, to go into the top spot on his own, Jamie Hill best of the day 6-1 to go straight in at 5th, Stuart Bentham 11-8 to sneak onto the plate leaderboard, Martin Long 4-1 to go 9th,  & finally Ian Carpenter who is now 3 from 4 with his 5-1 winner today.

Just a rule reminder 3 players had selections with very large SPs today, remember that maximum odds that count in the first 41 bets is 33-1 even if your 100-1 winner storms home!  This is to make sure we keep the comp alive if someone flukes a massive winner right at the beginning.

11SEP18 WON AGAIN AT LAST

England break the run at last

5 winners today best was Spenser Mills with a great 11-1 winner followed by Chris Martin & Ben Cheetham both 6-1, Stuart McLeod off the mark with a 5-1 winner leaving Mark Lowry on 6-4 as the remaining successful player on another slow day

Monday 10 September 2018

PICKING UP A BIT

Sorry for the late update but 5 players went for the evening meeting at Chelmsford.  Best of the day was Jimmy McGarrity 4-1 to move onto both leader-boards.  Othe winners were three on Astronomer at 2-1 Helen Fahey, Ian Carpenter & Kevin Wood, the other two were Mark Lowry 6-4 & Steve Taylor 2-1.

Sunday 9 September 2018

Good luck to all and to our 3 new players, Will Parker, Paul Moulton, & Ann Hill

Saturday 8 September 2018
