Monday 27 November 2017

27NOV17 Give us a chance!

Steve Carter, the leader, strikes again 7-2 to cross into the certain profit status i.e. +41.00 with only 40 bets to go very early to achieve that, has he slipped the field?  8 other winners, Vince picked up a nice 8-13 winner for 10 points and forges clear in the plate, however the others didn't play.  Andy Grinter 11-10, Helen Fahey 13-8, Lee Constable 7-2, Mark Lowry evens, Nobby Camunzuli brought up a double with the best of the day 6-1 and finally Tom Feeney 5-1 & Tom McGarrity 1-2.

Excel on its way will agree this times prize splits when Vince is back next week

18NOV17 Final

Well, a good job we waited as Dave's late nap won at 10-1 not quite enough to grab the top spot from Adrian but he sits 2nd now.  Overall their were 9 winners so the other 7 consisted of the 3 plate boys all on the same 10 point 4-5 winner in Ireland (Vince, Stuart, & Justin) Ian Carpenter joined them with his own 10 pointer at 11-4 to move 4th in the plate so we should expect that these top 4 will now pull away and leave the rest of us to fight for the 5th and final spot that pays in the plate.  Martin Long 11-10, Steve Carter & Tom Feeney both 7-1 made up the rest.

Saturday 18 November 2017

So two people nabbed the winner Ray Harper & Paul Stobbart - well done nice pick.  For Paul not quit enough to reach the cash positions he missed it by about £5 but for Ray he concluded his fabulous final 11 bets of the comp and ended up 2nd.  Ray completely showing what a good finish can do on 27mar17 he was dormy picking up forced losers and bottom half on -£7.67 11 bets later 6 winners and he is 2nd and +£51.23, great stuff and gives hope for us all next time!

So well done to our main comp winner Matt Weekes a rookie in his first comp and showed us all how to do it and Vince of course who scraped home in the plate for his 11th plate win, at least they took him to the last day.

Hope the newbies enjoyed the comp and sorry for the occasional disruption for holidays and lost laptops!

I think I may need a bit of an admin break so expect the next comp will be after the summer holidays so a decent break picking up maybe late August - although no discussions been had yet

Final Excel on its way - Vince will contact winner for distribution of cash this coming week

Enjoy the sun and happy gambling!

07apr17 Here we go

Just 4 winners today but some of considerable significance Andy Grinter 12-1 to move 8th nicely poised just needs the National winner!  Chris Pascoe 4-1 to go 13p up, Mark Sharman a nice 10-1 winner to move with 20 points of cash & finally & finally Ray Harper picks up an 8-1 winner to move into 3rd as he continues his great end to the comp gaining 44 points in the last 10 bets

Good luck everyone for tomorrow will be at home so should be able to do a real time update!

Thursday 6 April 2017

06apr17 Last of the day

Last turned out to be the best Kieron Badger scraping onto the foot of the leader board with a nice 8-1 winner to follow up yesterday's 16-1 winner.  Vince Paige & Robert Logan both banked 5 points with a 4-11 winner leaving just Ray Harper at 100-30 as the only other winner that pushed him up to 5th and well in touch of a decent prize.

In the plate Vince's 5 points means that the title is now between him & Stuart basically Stuart needs to pick the winner of the national and Vince not finish above 3rd to rest the win away form Vince. A great plate comp this time all of the top 4 have a points total that is in the top 10 ever achieved by previous winners and its not over yet.

I'm intending to post all the selections in the national here shortly after 1.30 to add some interest - if I receive selections not in the national I will issue a reminder of this new rule, given this is a bit of a first, but that will only be to those who select incorrectly I will not be reminding people to select in the National if they haven't made a selection at all.

Wednesday 5 April 2017

05apr17 Dirty Dozen

12 winners boosted by all five of the plate boys picking the same 1-8 winner.  Best of the day was Kieron Badger at 16-1 to move him just £7.46 down another one of those at Aintree and he will be in the cash.   Andy Pitter popped in a little 5-2 which I suspect he thought would nicely consolidated his spot in 8th but winners for Craig Connelly 5-1 and Lee Constable 10-1 meant he actually lost a spot!  Helen Fahey 6-1, Paul Berg 5-2, and finally Matt Weekes our leader has now probably done enough with a 5-1 winner today to move nearly £16 clear at the top.

Sending the excel out again in readiness for the run in over the very impressive Aintree card that we have for the final 3 days.

Tuesday 4 April 2017

04apr17 A tenner

On what was an absolute rubbish day's racing - how could Newton Abbot be waterlogged hasn't rained for ages!!

Best of the day was shared by Adrian Hunt and Jason McConkey at 17-2, Andy Grinter helped his cause and moved 12th with a 3-1 winner, Andy Pitter nudged up a spot with an even money winner, Craig Connelly consolidated with an 10-11 winner.  Paul Berg & Tommy Smith both scored with a 6-1 winner Roger Dore 5-2 to move up to 7th and finally two of the plate boys managed winners Robert Logan 1-2 & Vince Paige evens.

Monday 3 April 2017

03apr17 even fewer!

4 winners Robert Logan & Stuart Bentham 4-7 and 5 points enough to take Stuart back top but really still behind, but all he can do is force Vince to carry on finding winners.  Andy Pitter 4-1 to go back into the cash and Ray Harper also 4-7 to consolidate in 5th place.

Sunday 2 April 2017

02apr17 just 5

But some important ones, the leader Matt Weekes popped in with an 11-4 winner to go double figures clear at the top - is that enough? Chris Pascoe 33-1 topped the day and now goes 13p up bet he wished he hadn't had 14 forced loser now! Craig Connelly 12-1 to move into the cash and same winner for roger Dore just above him, finally Michael Brook 4-1.

The plate still up for grabs but the top 5 are now sorted so all of them get some cash just how much left to decide!

Saturday 1 April 2017

01apr17 Sparse

Just 3 winners today so not a single movement on either leader board - nice and easy to update thanks!

Adrian Hunt top scored with a 12-1 winner, Mark Nutting 8-1 and Paul Mott 3-1

Lincoln Selections 3.35 today

Donncha 2
Emell 2
Yuften 1
Instant Attraction 2
Dream Walker 1
Master Carpenter 4

Friday 31 March 2017

31mar17 I'm back!

Just 6 winners today me & Robert Logan the same 9-2 winner which was enough to bring me back onto the leader board, too little too late me thinks! Helen Fahey 7-2, Barry Pemble 6-4 & 5 points just about putting him back with a slim chance of the plate if he can find 2, 10 pointers. Ben Cheetham 12-1 and our last player without a win, Eamon Kelly, gets off the mark with a very nice 14-1 winner but in reality he needs 3 more of the same!

30mar17 and what a one!

So the last remaining bet from Thursday was Ray Harper in the 8.45 and in he smashed with a 33-1 shot to go into 6th.

I'll wait for the late ones tonight :-)

Thursday 30 March 2017

30mar17 One to go

Just waiting for run runner in the last at 8.45 so without that just 7 winners and they were me 5-2, Vince Paige & Stuart Bentham 4-6, Mark Nutting 6-5, Barry Pemble 5-6, Justin Sercombe 4-1 and 10 points, & final Mark Kelly also 4-1.

29MAR17 Back in UK

Back here and lap top facilities restored (sort of!)

A few nice winners over the past 2 days Joanne Hutson 10-1 to go back into the cash, Craig Connelley 12-1 to move onto the leader board, Dave Klein 8-1 to start challenging Spenser for 4th, Rod Brown 3-1 to nudge up a place or two and a very  unlucky Kevin Dighton 2nd at 50-1 for what would have been podium spot!!

Tuesday 28 March 2017

27mar17 Disaster

Laptop died and is a write off nearest back up file I had was 4 days old so I have had to re-key 4 days worth of entries 3.5 hours!!

I have sent new file to Vince and he will distribute tomorrow as at Monday night close

Main news is of course the 33-1 winner for Matt Weekes to move him top nice hit!

Sunday 26 March 2017

25mar17 Not much happening

Just two winners on Saturday Andy Pitter 11-2 and me 9-2 that lifted Andy back into the money in 6th

Saturday 25 March 2017

24mar17 Just 4

Only 4 winners but some nice ones Tom Feeney 16-1 to move back exactly level and 16th, & Brian Hammon also 16-1 but he was further back.  The other two were Gerry McCann 7-2 and Ian Carpenter 9-1.  All the plate boys had losers except Stuart & Vince who sat out so a good day for them.

Friday 24 March 2017

23mar17 Sparse

Only 5 winners on Thursday Annette Berg took the crown for best of the day with a cracking 15-2 winner to draw clear of Dave in 4th.  The other 4 were Dave Brammer & Dan Mason both 5-1, Kieron Badger 15-8 and Matt Weekes dead heta first at 5-1 (full odds given for dead heats per rule #17).  All the plate boys sat out.

Thursday 23 March 2017

21/22mar17 Sunny!

8 winners on both days with a couple worth a mention in particular Dave Klein 14-1 to zoom back up to 4th just a few pence behind Annette in 3rd.  Also Carl slightly extended his lead with a 9-4 winner now looking in a good spot with only 11 bets to go.  Joanne Hutson 7-1 to move back onto the leader board, most of the others were short priced plate boys, basically all matching each other!

Tuesday 21 March 2017

20mar17 Double from Aruba

Just 3 winners Sunday best was Lee Constable 9-2 to move 6th, others were me at 4-1 and Rod Brown at 6-4.

Monday was better 9 winners the plate boys, Vince, Barry, Justin & Stuart all did the same 5 point 4-5 winner.  Joint best of the day at a nice 8-1 was Craig Connelly & Natasha Tizzano, others were Dave Brammer 11-8, Steve Carter & Tom Feeney both 7-2

Saturday 18 March 2017

18mar17 phew made it

Through the rigors of another Cheltenham festival that is!

So back to normal now and we have some winners again 9 in total Lee Constable best at 11-1 to go back onto the leader board and Carl Dean 5-1 to stretch clear!  Vince Paige Justin Sercombe & Barry Pemble all got back to normal with 5 point winners, Tom McGarrity 2-1,  Frank Farley 5-2, Craig Connelly 4-1 & Annette Berg 9-2 were the others.

I'm leaving for a break tomorrow in USA/Caribbean back 27th carry on as usual should be no problem but might be more erratic!

RULE REMINDER

Sunday 19th is the last day where rule#25 applies after tomorrow there is no restriction on the starting price of winners

17mar17 Day 4

4 great winners as well, Carl Dean 16-1 to take over at the top from Spenser, Pete Long 20-1 to move back into mid table, Matt Weekes 14-1 winner to move 4th and finally Paul Stobbart 7-1 to scrape onto the foot of the leader board.

Friday 17 March 2017

16mar17 Day 3

Just two winners at Cheltenham that was best of the day Annette Berg 11-1 to move 3rd and Justin Sercombe 11-8 leaving just Robert Logan 1-12 for 3 points.

Thursday 16 March 2017

15mar17 Day 2

And not a very successful one in terms of naps only 4 winners and only one of them at Cheltenham that was best of the day for Jason McConkey on the incredible recovery from Might Bite at 7-2.  The other 3 winners were Annette Berg 9-4 to move up 2 places to 5th and both Dave Brammer and Frank Farley 11-8.  All the plate top boys were on Douvan so no changes!

Tuesday 14 March 2017

14mar17 Day 1

Well one of us started the festival with a bang!  Jon Curtis, with only one solitary winner before today, napped the 25-1 winner in the opener - nice one he is now 35th that's a move up of 30 spots!  Only 4 other winners Carl Dean closed the gap at the top with his 5-1 winner that same winner as Kevin Wood which saw him back up to 11th.  Barry Pemble brought up his 11th successive winner with Altior at 1-4 to gain 3 points on most of his rivals in the plate who all picked Limini, finally there was Gary Dighton moving up to 10th with a 3-1 winner but from Sedgefield - come on!

Monday 13 March 2017

13mar17 Here we go!

At last the game is upon us!

13 winners today not going to ponce about listing all those best of the day was Gerry McCann at 6-1 to move onto the bubble in 11th.

Sunday 12 March 2017

12mar17 Busy Weekend

Loads of bets both days nothing spectacular however.  Today there were 7 winners (yesterday 8), best of the day today was Gary Dighton 8-1 to move into 9th and above Kev!  Dave Brammer 1-5, Jason McConkey 11-4, Roger Dore & Ray Harper 5-2 to nip up into 3rd, Robert Logan & Stuart Bentham both 4-5 were the final two.

Friday 10 March 2017

10mar17 triple

Update that is sorry for that big London event and a funeral yesterday.

Not the most active period 7 winners Wednesday and just 5 on the next two days and really the only standout was Kevin Dighton 28-1 and onto the leader board apparently now taking it serious and going to go on and win it.  A good couple of days for Vince in the plate as a head to head 10 point face off saw Vince win and Stuart only 4th so with plenty of bets left Vince's purple patch has for the moment given him the advantage but will the leader find more?

Wednesday 8 March 2017

07mar17 Quiet

Just 4 winners Justin & Barry 5 points and 4-9 winner Mark Nutting best of the day second day in a row with a 3-1 winner and that leaves just our leader consolidating at the top with a 11-10 winner

Monday 6 March 2017

06mar17 Nice Winner

For Mark Nutting at 14-1 but he still is down, one of 6 on the day, Ben Cheetham 6-1, Gary Dighton 11-8, Matt Weekes 13-2, Richard Pascoe 2-1, & Tom McGarrity 4-7 were the other 5.

Sunday 5 March 2017

05mar17 what a fight from Bellew

10 winners from just 33 bets today so nice %.  Best of the day was 7-1 for Darren Mills to get him close to break even, Ben Cheetham 9-2, 4 players all on the 4-11 5 pointer Vince, Barry, Robert & Ian.  Leaving Jimmy McGarrity 7-2 and the final three Kieron Badger, Kevin Wood & Paul Berg all 11-4.

Some very impressive winning performances from the top 5 plate boys of late Vince 12 from last 15, Stuart 10 from 15, Justin & Barry both 11 from 15, Robert has slipped back a bit with only!  7 from 15.  Although fair to say definitely not a recipe for winning the main prize 3 of them still down and the best is on +1.48 and not even on the leader board!

Saturday 4 March 2017

04mar17 Scrappy day

Not many winners just 8, joint top at 9-2 were Pete Long, Ian Carpenter & Andy Grinter, 3 plate boys picked the same 5 pointer at 2-7 they were Vince, Justin & Stuart, Robert Logan also picked up 5 points but at the giddy odds against price of 13-8! Leaving, last but not least, Dave Brammer who picked up a 2-1 winner with lastbutnotleast!

Friday 3 March 2017

03mar17 One Week to go!

Chelters looms - 8 winners best of the day 15-2 for Gary Dighton to move onto the leader board, 3 plate boys Vince, Justin, & Barry 1-2 and 5 points.  Frank Farley 15-8, Nobby Camunzuli & Kevin Wood 5-2 to scrape onto the foot of the leader board mainly because I extended it :-), and Tom McGarrity 11-8.

02mar17 Double again

Sorry guys for another missed day and its late so just going to mention the one winner which was Wednesday for Roger Dore at 25-1 zoomed him up to 4th.  Have to say a very high quality leader board this comp loads of large totals.

Tuesday 28 February 2017

28FEB17 Giant Winner!

40-1 winner for Dave Klein today (restricted to just 33-1 see rule #25) but enough to catapult him up into the top 3.  Ten winners overall three plate boys on the 30-100 winner, Vince, Robert & Justin, Darren Mills 11-4, Gary Dighton 3-1, Martin Long 1-3, Natasha Tizzano & Tim Catlin both 11-2, Paul Stobbart 7-4 to nudge up a place or two,

Monday 27 February 2017

27feb17 Ordinary day

7 winners 4 of them the plate boys on the 1-3 5 point winner, they were Vince, Justin, Barry & Robert.  The best of the day was Steve Carter 8-1 which was enough to get him onto the bottom of the leader board, Paul Stobbart 7-4 and finally Ray Harper & Annette Berg both at 5-2.

Sunday 26 February 2017

26feb17 Only 6

Another poor day really for winners only 6 and 4 of them were the same horse at 4-1 they were me, Carl Deal (another good day for him gaining 5 on the leader), Michael Brook & Helen Fahey.  Best of the day was Mark Sharman 11-2 and the only other one was Mark Kelly at 9-4.

Saturday 25 February 2017

25feb17 double

9 winners Friday and just 4 on Saturday they were Carl Dean 9-2 to close the gap at the top, Mark Kelly 4-1, a very nice best of the day for Nobby Camunzuli at 10-1 that also brought up a double, & Vince Paige 11-8 who did his chances a power of good picking up a 10 pointer while most around him either failed or picked up a 5 point 2nd, Stuart is now back in his sights 8 bets in hand for 32 points.

Thursday 23 February 2017

23feb17 Ranieri goes

Wow what a decision clearly no word for loyalty in Thailand!

7 winners today again Ben Cheetham, Spenser Mills & Frank Farley all 5-6, Matt Weekes 3-1, Rod Brown 11-8, Sarah Parker best of the day at 100-30 & finally Terry Matthews at 5-4.

Very few bets today because of Huntingdon and the cock-up at Chelmsford in the 3-30 only player in the plate was Andy Pitter and he didn't trouble the scorers.

Wednesday 22 February 2017

22feb17 Giant Winner

Only one story today that was the 22-1 to Paul Mott to zoom him up to 10th spot.  6 other winners Paul Stobbart 7-2, Pete Long 5-1, Rod Brown & Kevin Wood both 5-4, Spenser Mills 8-13, & finally Dave Klein 4-1.

Tuesday 21 February 2017

20feb17 Thistlebummer!

I could have done that headline the other was round couldn't I :-)

Really disappointing with Thistlecrack gone and not as Cornelius Lysaght just described on 5 Live still a tremendous race! What with him missing and no Coneygree either of course its massively devalued.

For us today firstly the same 3 platers as yesterday all on the same 4-11 5 point winner from a total of 9 winners on the day.  Topped by Jake Fifield 8-1 to move 17th and on the bubble, Kieron Badger Lee constable both at 10-11, Rod Brown & Richard Pascoe both 7-2 and Tommy smith 5-2 were the remainder.

Monday 20 February 2017

20feb17 nice winners

Lots of new entrants onto the leader board today after some nice winners topped by Frank Farley at 12-1 to move 9th.  There were 10 in total Annette Berg 5-1 consolidating nicely in the top 10, Dan Mason 8-1 to move positive and sit in 23rd, Kevin Roberts 7-1 to take over from me in 11th, and Lee Constable 10-1 to zoom up to 3rd.  In the more ordinary category were the other 5 they were Paul Stobbart 9-4, Roger Dore 7-2, and the plate boys Vince, Barry & Justin all 5 points and 8-15.

Sunday 19 February 2017

19feb17 Go on Sutton

Then we can get a non league side in the semis!

8 winners for us today Stuart Bentham had a good day the only 5 pointer in the plate at 4-6 and is now on the bubble in the main comp.  Andy Pitter 30-100, Craig Connelly & Ernie Moore both 7-2, Carl Dean a nice 9-2 winner to close in a little on the leader, Jason McConkey & Kevin Wood both 5-2, and finally Kieron Badger 3-1.

18feb17 slow

Just 6 winners on a Saturday which is a poor showing, joint top of the tree was Terry Matthews and me with the same 6-1 winner enough to push us both onto the leader board.  The other 4 were the plate boys, or at least some of them, that is Vince, Stuart & Justin all with a 10 point 11-10 winner and the only other person to trouble the scorer was our leader extending is commanding lead again with a 2-1 winner.

Saturday 18 February 2017

17feb17 one month to go

8 winners for us on Friday - couldn't wait all night for them to sort out the mess at Wolverhampton last night!

Spenser popped in a 7-2 winner to move back over £50 up even if he has losers all the way in (unlikely) he would still be over £20 up now so a massive target.  Others were Lee Constable & Tim Catlin also 7-2, Annette Berg & Kevin Wood both evens, best of the day for Mark Sharman at 8-1 enough to take him positive for the first time this comp.  Andy Pitter 6-1 brought up a treble and sits strong in both comps as we approach the half way stage, and finally Dave Brammer 15-8.

Thursday 16 February 2017

16feb17 dirty dozen

So same old same old 6 plate boys all on the same 1-4 5 pointer, loads of non runners :-), so they were Stuart, Robert, Vince, Barry, Andy, Justin.  Leaving 6 others best was  Kieron Badger who got off the mark with a 9-1 winner others were me 9-2, Gerry McCann & Tim Catlin both 11-4, Lee Constable 4-6, Paul Stobbart 9-4 that's his 9th winner in the last 14 and he now sits 11th nice run,

Wednesday 15 February 2017

15feb17 surely that's the end

Arsene I mean 4-1 down he must be finished now

7 winners for us 4 of them the same 1-10 winner for the plate boys, namely Stuart, Barry, Robert & Justin, the other winners were Jake Fifield 2-1, Jimmy McGarrity 11-4 in a race his practise sponsored at Towcester!  Martin Long best of the day 9-2.

Tuesday 14 February 2017

13/14feb17 Double day

5 winners on Monday on a very low turnout day they were Dave Brammer 8-15, Jason McConkey a nice best of the day 12-1, Paul Stobbart 13-8, Ray Harper 3-1, & Richard Pascoe 8-15.

Tuesday 15 winners with Rod Brown at 18-1 the standout

Sunday 12 February 2017

12feb17 sort it out tomorrow

Tomorrow is the last day to genuinely demonstrate that you didn't forget your Valentine - you have been warned :-).

Sorry to Kevin Roberts missed his winner from Saturday, always forget to check WhatsApp so that nudged him onto the leader board.

Today we had 11 winners and the outstanding best of the day was Roger Dore at 12-1 only his 4th winner but just enough to put him positive after 25 bets and in 24th spot.  Terry Matthews and Stuart Bentham picked up a 2-5 winner each, Ray Harper and Frank Farley both picked up a 10-11 winner each, Carl Dean and Rod Brown also both picked up an 11-4 winner taking Carl a little closer in 2nd.  Three players managed to pick the winner of what looked like a very difficult Gold Cup in Sizing John at 100-30, they were Dave Klein, Mark Sharman & Paul Stobbart, finally Helen Fahey added 6p to her total with a 1-16 winner!

11feb17 England just again!

Very exciting game though and great result

12 winners for us Saturday and so just picking out the best which was a very nice 14-1 winner for Tom Feeney whihc moved him to one place off the leader board on +3.00

Friday 10 February 2017

10feb17 just what we didn't need!

Spenser, the roar away leader, breaks through the £50 barrier to move miles clear after a best of the day 10-1 winner.  11 other winners so another good day again so starting with Stan Moore got off the mark with a 6-1 winner, Tommy Smith moved onto the leader board with a 5-1 winner, 4 players all picked the same 2-1 winner they were Ben Cheetham, Carl Dean, Jake Fifield & Kevin Roberts.  Frank Farley evens, Justin Sercombe & Michael Brook 10-11, & Kevin Wood 7-4, Dave Klein 4-1, were the remaining 4 winners.

Thursday 9 February 2017

09feb17 and again

11 winners today a quick list, Andy Grinter & Joanne Hutson both 4-1, Andy Pitter & Robert Logan both 11-10, Barry Pemble 4-9, Ernie Moore 9-4, Gary Dighton & Gerry McCann joint best of the day at 5-1,  Rod Brown 11-8, Vince Paige & Stuart Bentham 2-7.

Wednesday 8 February 2017

08feb17 another load

12 winners today Carl Dean picked up a 9-2 winner to claim joint best of the day and close in on the leader.  Stuart Bentham, Barry Pemble, Ian Carpenter & Robert Logan all picked the same 1-4 winner and 5 points.  Chris Pascoe 2-5, Gary Dighton 7-2, Justin Sercombe & Kevin Roberts 4-7, Kevin Wood 7-4.  Top Boy by name and nature for Lee Constable as that horse went in at 3-1 and he went 3 for 3 maintaining his 100% record and now sitting 6th, and finally, and by no means least, was Steve Carter with joint best of the day 9-2 to move up into the cash in 9th.

A bit more of a challenge for the plate boys tomorrow with 4, 10 point races on offer should prevent them all picking the same horse like they usually do!

Tuesday 7 February 2017

07feb17 loads

A very nice day 14 winners on what seemed like a real low quality affair today.

So here goes, Andy Grinter Kevin Roberts & Dave Klein all 5-2, Andy Stevens off the mark with a 4-1 winner, Ian Carpenter & Tom McGarrity both 15-8, Kevin Wood 11-4, Lee Constable 2 from 2 with a nice 11-2 winner and 8th spot.  Nobby Camunzuli 85-40, Paul Stobbart 4-6, Rod Brown 9-4, with the plate trio Robert Logan, Vince Paige & Stuart Bentham all 1-4.

Monday 6 February 2017

06feb17 WTF happened

How can you lose from 28-3 up with most of Q3 gone, I had to stay up to 4am just to see them get beaten!

AMENDED However, a quiet day for us just 29 bets and 6 winners, Annette Berg was best of the day with a fine 9-1 winner that's 4 from the last 5 and sufficient to move her 3rd nice purple patch.  Brian Hammon got of the mark with a 100-30 winner, Mark Nutting 6-4, Kevin Roberts 6-1, Paul Stobbart 4-1 to scrape onto the leader board and finally a 4-7 winner for Stuart Bentham the only player in the top 8 of the plate to play extending his lead to 25 points.

Forgot to send the excel last night so going to do it now!

Sunday 5 February 2017

05feb17 A lot of changes

Despite only 8 winners and nothing all that special there seemed to be a lot of new faces on the leader board after today.  Joint best of the day was for me and Ernie Moore with a nice 11-2 winner that took me back positive and Ernie into a cash paying spot (9th).   Andy Grinter & Michael Brook both had a 7-4 winner, Frank Farley 5-1 to also move positive, Paul Stobbart 6-4, Tom McGarrity 4-9, & Vince Paige 4-7 were the other winners.

Everyone has now paid and played so we are confirmed at 66 runners so first prize lifted to £1,200 and a few other smaller changes to the minor places.  Check out the details on the excel which will be put later tonight.

Go Atlanta

04feb17 Saturday's update

Messy but we got the result - not the best game I've ever seen for my first trip to Twickers since they rebuilt it!

7 winners for us as all the plate boys went for the same horse that got turned over so they all only picked up 2 points.   Anyway the winners were Andy Pitter & Spenser Mills 1-2, Cathy Holding who got off the mark with an 11-4 winner, Gerry McCann & Dave Klein both 9-4, Lee constable 1st bet and 1st winner at 9-2, but already close to dormy he only has 2 spare bets left!  Best of the day went to Steve Carter 10-1 and enough to get him to the leader board.

03feb17 ENGLAND

Sorry no update Saturday I'm going to Twickers for England v France :-)

Friday saw another good total 10 winners, Annette Berg & Sarah Parker both picked Hot Stuff (no comment) at 5-1 for the joint best of the day which saw Annette move 8th and got Sarah off the mark.  Andy Grinter 5-6, Jason McConkey & Paul Stobbart both 4-1, Mark Nutting & our leader, Spenser Mills both 6-5, Matt Weekes & Tommy Smith both 9-2 and finally Robert Logan sneaked in a 5 pointer at 6-4 he was the only player in the top 7 of the plate to score the others sat out.

02feb17 double update

27 winners across the 2 days - well done!  so guess what I'm not listing those out even if it wasn't already after midnight!

Highlights were Andy Grinter 9-1, Carl Dean & Mark Nutting both 7-1, Matt Weekes 8-1, Roger Dore & Tom Feeney both 15-2, & Paul Stobbart 6-1.

31jan17 Strange

Did anyone else think this they said only 0.048% of all runners in the UK would die like Many Clouds did after racing.  So lets say 250 runners a day 364 days a year that's over 40 that sounds like loads to me! and pretty unacceptable.

8 winners today best of the day honour fell to Jimmy McGarrity with a 3-1 winner closely followed by Dave Brammer 11-4 in turn closely followed by Spenser at 5-2 to extend his lead again.  Andy Pitter, Vince Paige & Stuart Bentham all had the same 8-15 winner while Justin Sercombe & Annette Berg made do with a 5-4 shot.

Monday 30 January 2017

30jan17 usual Monday fare

Just 4 winners today all odds on again Ian Carpenter, Tom McGarrity & Pete Long all 8-11 and Richard Pascoe 1-2 - enough said!

Well no it wasn't actually missed Gerry McCann's 9-4 winner - sorry don;t always notice them on WhatsApp

Sunday 29 January 2017

29jan17 more like it

15 winners so will just pick out some of the main ones given that the excel will be issued in a few minutes.  Adrian Hunt off the mark and best of the day with his 8-1 winner, Ernie Moore close behind and onto the leader board with his 6-1 winner, all the rest were odds on!

Good quality plate comp developing all of the top 6 are maintaining an average well over 4 points and bear in mind Barry won last time with the 6th best total ever and that was only an average of 4.14.

28jan17 Even Tougher!

Just two winners and the best was for Tom McGarrity 10-1 to lift him straight up to 5th.  The other was tinged with much sadness as Steve Carted picked up the 8-1 victor of Thistlecrack in a great race with such a dramatic ending.  Steve actually backed Thistlecrack and as a result his accumulator was lost!

Saturday 28 January 2017

27jan17 must have been tough

Just 4 winners and very rarely a best of the day that was odds on that was Andy Grinter 10-1, the other 3 winners were the top 3 in the plate Stuart Bentham & Barry Pemble both 4-9 and Robert Logan 4-7.

Thursday 26 January 2017

26jan17 Wow loads

16 winners so just the highlights and there were a fair few of them as well.  Starting with a cracking best of the day 33-1 for Carl Dean, moves him to second a nice way to get off the mark.  Also having a good day was Rod Brown, he got off the mark with an 18-1 winner to go straight in at 6th and a 3rd off the mark winner to leap onto the leader board was Annette Berg 6-1 and sitting 14th.

The leader banged in his second 8-1 winner in consecutive days sort of looking a bit out of sight even at this early stage.

In the plate almost all scored 10 points today 5 of them on 1-5 & 10 pointer winner at Gowran, Stuart Bentham, Ian Carpenter, Barry Pemble, Chris Pascoe & Robert Logan, other also picking up the same points were Justin Sercombe & Andy Pitter for their nice 9-2 & 7-1 winners respectively.  Only Vince missed out he was too late with his entry!

25jan17 Leader forges ahead

Spenser bangs in the best of the day 8-1 to move nicely clear, 4 other winners Kevin Wood picks up his 8th winner at 4-5 to move 11th, Gerry McCann 2-1, Mark Kelly off the mark with an 11-2 winner, and finally Paul Berg brings up a double with a 13-8 winner.

In the plate good job Chambord du Lys got turned over at 4-9, after stumbling at the last, most of the leaders were on that!

Tuesday 24 January 2017

24jan17 couple of nice ones!

Joint best of the day at 8-1 for Craig Connelly to go 3rd and Martin Long to go 7th.  Six winners in total so the other 4 were Andy Pitter & Stuart Bentham both 6-5, Kevin Dighton 15-8 and finally Paul Berg got off the mark with a 4-1 winner.

Monday 23 January 2017

23jan17 Very slow

Just 2 winners both at 7-2 they were Tom Feeney and Jake Fifield both who got off the mark.  Apart from that not much happened

Sunday 22 January 2017

22jan17 Cold!

Sorry didn't get to normal service yesterday too tired but there were loads of winners 14 in total but nothing stupendous.

Sunday's single meeting just delivered 4 winners between the 33 of us who bothered 2 of those were Helen Fahey & I on Yorkhill at 1-5 and the other 2 were Frank Farley & Michael Brook both 7-2

Friday 20 January 2017

20jan17 Donald

Thursday 19 January 2017

18jan17 4 timer

A bit spooky now that's 4 days in a row with 10 winners joint best of the day at 11-2 were Jo Hutson, Tim Catlin, Tom McGarrity, Dan Mason.  Andy Grinter & Nobby Camunzuli both 13-8, Chris Pascoe 7-2, Gerry McCann & Ray Harper both 11-10 and finally our leader Spenser Mills popped in a 9-4 winner were the 10 on the score board today

Tuesday 17 January 2017

17jan17 10 winners again

For the 3rd day in a row best was jo Hutson 10-1 to go 2nd and close behind was Craig Connelly off the mark with a 9-1 shot to go 5th

Monday 16 January 2017

Sunday 15 January 2017

15jan17 End of first week

10 winners on Sunday 5 players all on Barra at 5-4 and 10 points they were Barry Pemble, Robert Logan, Stuart Bentham, Ian Carpenter & Pete Long.  Other winners were me & Kevin Wood both at evens, Mark Sharman best of the day 4-1 to go joint 2nd, Nobby Camunzuli 3-1, & finally Tommy Smith 9-4 to move pack positive.

In the pate it looks like we have a full contingent of players all going for it this time so could be an interesting spectator sport for those of us going for the main one!

First update excel will go out later please do check it i have been known to make the odd error - I do keep all the texts until the end of the comp.

14jan17 Go Spurs!

6 winners today best of the day was Ernie Moore 5-1, others were Pete Long 13-8, Paul Mott & Tommy Smith both 11-8, Ray Harper 9-4 thats your list of winners from Saturday

Friday 13 January 2017

13jan17 more sensible

6 winners best of the day was for Mark Sharman 7-1, Gerry McCann picked up a 5-1 shot to go 2nd and start the long old job of reeling in the leader, Ray Harper 7-2, Dave Klein 4-1 and the top two in the plate Vince Paige & Stuart Bentham both the same 8-15 winner.

Thursday 12 January 2017

12jan17 Super winner

65 of us suddenly agree with rule #25 that restricts the maximum SP of a winner to 33-1 in the first section of the comp, after Spenser Mills pick an astounding 66-1 winner so that rule really bites for him!  Still sitting £31.00 up and £23.20 ahead of the field isn't a position to be too sad about, not sure if he backed it - hope so

Another mega day of winners with 16 in total out just 37 live bets after the snow beat Chelmsford tonight.  Second best today was Gerry McCann at 6-1 closely followed by Jo Hutson, & Paul Motty at 11-2.  Five of the plate boys all selected the same 5 point 1-3 cert, they were Barry Pemble, Justin Sercombe, Pete Long, Robert Logan & Stuart Bentham.  Vince Paige took over at the top of the plate after selecting the very impressive Top Ville Ben who won at 4-5, the same selection as Ian Carpenter and Chris Pascoe.  Kevin Wood and I both picked up an even money winner that's 3 from 3 for me and I'm not even on the leader board :-(  Roger Dore 10-11 & Matt Raven 4-6, were the final two winners.

Had to be a bit tough and not allow Natasha Tizzano's selection today as she was after the cut off by 4 minutes (which isn't so bad on its own) but she was also less than 30 minutes before the off so had to put that down as a "no bet".  Unfortunately, that meant she missed her 4th winner from 4 bets which stopped her holding on to top spot in the plate - sorry Natasha hope I'm forgiven :-)

Watch out for these things everyone.

Finally, a nice anecdote from Ian Carpenter that we can all relate to, on a corporate day out at Taunton yesterday had 5 out of 6 winners, loads of cash to bring home and what was his only loser - yep you got it his nap!!

Wednesday 11 January 2017

Numbers Update

So looks like a mega entry we are at 66 with just 3 people left to pay (Andy Stevens, Tom McGarrity & Tim Catlin) and we are expecting all those to join.  That should mean a 1200 first prize, will wait for the final 3 to confirm full prize structure.

Still not too late to join, as we are only a few days in, if there are others

11jan17 now we're cooking

15 winners from just 39 selections so here goes: 4 joint best of the day all at 7-1, Martin Long, Andy Pitter, Chris Pascoe, & Dan Mason, four of the usual mob on the 1-3 winner, Vince Paige, Stuart Bentham, Barry Pemble, & Terry Matthews to go top of the main leader board.  Natasha Tizzano has started best 3 from 3 with today's winner at 13-8 to stay top of the plate, 2 winners on the same 2-1 shot, Ben Cheetham & Nobby Camunzuli and another 2 on the same 15-8 winner, Jimmy McGarrity & Michael Brook, leaving Jason McConkey 6-4 and me at 11-10 as the final two - phew!.

Tuesday 10 January 2017

10jan17 Three

That's all today Kevin Wood 4-6, Natasha Tizzano 2 from 2 at 7-2 to go top of the plate, and Matt Weekes clocks up his first ever winner at 4-1 and tops the days winners.

Monday 9 January 2017

09jan17 A bit better

8 winners today Terry Matthews topped the chart with a 7-1 to join Dave Brammer as joint leader Natasha Tizzano got off the mark with a 4-9 winner, Ray Harper 7-2 and 5 saddos all on the 2-5 shot at Donny they were Vince Paige (of course), Richard Pascoe, Justin Sercombe, Stuart Bentham & Ian Carpenter.

So rather gallingly that puts Vince top of the plate so that's the end of his I'm not going for the plate in this comp commitment!

Sunday 8 January 2017

08jan17 Day one

As usual quiet start 4 winners Dave Brammer a nice start with an 8-1 winner, Jimmy McGarrity 5-2 and Helen Fahey & me both 5-6 (Death Duty @ Naas)

Clearly not much to report elsewhere

OFF WE GO

Starts today a bit frantic on the admin but currently 69 players in the file but 13 still to confirm so expecting that to fall back to around say 60.

Good luck everyone especially me!
