31may12 Lampard out

Good player but been in the team for a decade and what have we won - keep picking the same guys get the same result - lets have a new guy, just Terry & Gerard to go :-)

Back to racing 5 winners from 31 bets today.  Those winners were me 15-8 to move 7th, Gary Dighton, Martin Long, & Alan Mabb all on Opinion Poll at 5-4, and best of the day Julian Ciampioli 9-2 straight back into winners after 2 weeks away on hols.

In the plate not much action Steve Walton sat out again and we scraped a few points together.

Wednesday 30 May 2012

30may12 sunny again

6 winners today from 27 bets, Roger Dore was best of the day with a very modest 11-4 winner, Jed Parramore close behind on 5-2, the other 4 winners were 4 out of the top 5 in the plate who all went to Eire for winners at Punchestown.

So in the plate Steve Walton & I both saw our 4-5 winner only pick up 5 points as the 16th runner got withdrawn at the start :-( - but Justin Sercombe and Kevin Wood must have been very pleased with their 2-1, 10 pointer that beat the other joint favourite despite that having been backed into joint favourite from 9-2 just before the off!

29may12 nice one

9 winners from 30 bets on Tuesday and some nice winners.  A selection of those of note are as follows: Kevin Wood best of the day 10-1 and 10 points to move him to 5th, Lee Constable 11-2 to move up and into the bubble spot (9th),  Mark Sharman also 11-2 to move dead level, Pat Quinn 17-2 to lift him clear of the bottom.

In the plate Steve Walton is coming back to the field as he sits out again and both Kevin Wood & Rod Brown pick up winners.  Kevin Wood now just 11 points behind 5 bets in hand.

Monday 28 May 2012

Away Tuesday Night

Chances of an update tomorrow are very slim especially as loads of selections are currently being made at the evening meetings - I'm away with Sue for the night so expect a Wednesday morning catch up!

28may12 bit better

7 from 25 bets today, those winners were Adam Slater 6-4, Dave Barker 5-2, Gary Dighton 11-4,  Mark Nutting 5-2, Robert Baker 3-1, Tom Feeney 10-11, & best of the day 4-1 for Mark Quinn.
So very little change with those prices.

Steve Walton had another good day in the plate after all his rivals missed again while he sat out so Justin Sercombe now only 3 bets behind but still 20 points adrift, bigger danger is Kevin Wood 6 bets in hand and only 21 points adrift.

New Landmark

Just passed through 30,000 page views of the blog this morning - well done us :-)

Sunday 27 May 2012

27may12 Too Sunny

Too Sunny for many to be bothered with a nap today only 24 bets and a completely blank day with no winners!

Great day at Wembley apart from the result CTFC played pretty well and 2-0 was pretty unfair scoreline with us having two shot cleared off the line and hit the cross bar all in the first half, that's not to say their goals weren't pretty good efforts but zero for us was harsh.  League one is probably above us in reality.

Saturday 26 May 2012

26may12 Eurovision

Go Englebert Go

Not much action today as you can see Tom Feeney was the only winner of note at 5-1 to go 2nd

Friday 25 May 2012

25may12 where are you

Only 24 bets today and just 3 winners they were Kevin Wood, Rod Brown and Gary Dighton.

In the plate the 10 point winner for Kevin Wood helped as Steve Walton sat out, Rod Brown moved away from me after recording a 5 point winner.

I'm getting excited Wembley not far away now, Cheltenham 13-8 to win which is fair Crewe definitely the form team coming into this.  Looks like I will have to back a 3-1 win about 26-1 tonight on Betfair, hoping to beat that tomorrow

Thursday 24 May 2012

24may12 12 weeks wow

Just 4 winners today from 32 runners stand out winner was Kevin Dighton with the best of the day by far 15-2 to zoom up to 11th.  Other winners were Roger Dore, Michael Brook & Bert Peart. So the leaderboard was pretty much unaffected by today's round of bets.

In the plate 4 of the top five picked the same horse again and it got turned over again just scrapping into 4th and a solitary point - so no changes there either.

Wednesday 23 May 2012

23m1y12 bye Didier

Just 4 winners from 29 bets today and all 4 were winner for guys on the leaderboard, Paul Evans, Dave Kingsbury, Tom Feeney & me, nothing of any great odds all 2-1 or less.

In the plate the top 3 all picked the same losing odds on runner at Sligo and with Rod Brown sitting out that meant my 10 point winner looked good and lifted me to 5th - just a gentle reminder to the leaders when they glance over their shoulders that I am still here with plenty left in the tank!

Tuesday 22 May 2012

22may12 staying alive!

6 winners from 30 bets today Leader Terry Matthews had the best of the day with a 5-1 winner to go to +£26.23 and £7.15 clear of the field. Paul Evans just moved 2nd with a 2-1 winner on +£19.08, other winners were Steve Walton, Justin Sercombe, Jon Curtis & Roger Dore.

As both 1st & 2nd in the plate picked the same odds on winner they simply moved a bit further away from Kevin Wood in 3rd who sat out - he has 10 bets in hand over Steve Walton so while 44 points behind is far from out of it.

Monday 21 May 2012

21may12 got my Wembley ticket

7 winners from 30 bets today best of the day was the 4-1 winner, unlikely to be aptly named Smalljohn for Jon Curtis :-) - sorry Jon but did rather set yourself up when you picked it! Dave Kingsbury & I both picked a 100-30 winner and Andy Wilson's 3-1 winners were the only of any sort of note.

In the plate a bit of a flop all round with all the Irish favourites getting turned over all they managed between them was the single point scored by Justin Sercombe but he still sits in a very strong 2nd place 21 points behind but with 5 bets in hand over Steve Walton, the leader.

Sunday 20 May 2012

20may12 quiet day

Quiet but still 6 winners they were Alan Mabb 9-4, Trevor James best of the day 11-2 to go just positive in 22nd place, Justin Sercombe & Steve Walton evens, Paul Evans 9-4 to move up a place to 3rd, and finally Dave Fifield 7-2 to get off the mark.

In the plate both Steve Walton & Justin Sercombe ended up with only a 5 point winner after there were 6 non runners in their selections race so reducing the number of runners to just 15 :-)

19may12 champions

7 winners from 34 bets - only 2 on Super Frankel, Julian Micklethwaite's 4-1 winner moved him onto the leaderboard and a 3-1 from Kevin Hall got him close in 11th.

All the leaders missed out in the plate so Steve Walton's 5 point 2nd looked good in hind sight

Friday 18 May 2012

18may12 Wembley here we come

Go Cheltenham Go

Assuming the two late selection both lose (Rod Brown & Jed Parramore) the tables over are after today.

Two massive winners for guys having their first winners of the comp, Paul Evans 22-1 to go 3rd and Tom Feeney 20-1 to go 4th and with Eamon Kelly also picking a very nice 9-2 shot and 10 point winner a bit of an action day.  Other winners were Jimmy McGarrity 4-1 and Dave Barker 7-4.

Thursday 17 May 2012

17may12 good day

10 winners today from a busy 41 bets, best was Julian Micklethwaite with a very nice 16-1 winner but as that got him off the mark he only rose to 9th=.  The leader brought up a 4 timer and 5 wins in 6 to slightly extend his lead with a 13-8 shot.  Michael Brooks' 3rd winner in the last 5 at 8-1 took him positive and nearly onto the leaderboard on +£3.25, Annette Berg's 3-1 winner moved her up to 6th & Dave Kingsbury brought up a treble with a 7-2 winner to go 5th.

In the plate the top 2 both picked the same 4-9 winner to move away from the pack a bit

Wednesday 16 May 2012

16may12 New leader

Had too wait so long for Steve Walton's last race nap not got time to finish off other than to say new leader - text will follow

Tuesday 15 May 2012

15may12 all quiet just

Slow day 5 winners from 24 bets nothing too exciting to report winners were Steve Walton 2-1 who has clearly taken the plate to his heart after rubbishing it for a decade, Wayne Morton & Michael Brook both with 11-4 winner, Mark Quinn who got off the mark with a 13-8 winner ending his massive losing run, and the best of the day 3-1 for Dave Kingsbury.

In the plate clearly Steve Walton extended his lead but both 2nd & 3rd have 4 bets in hand.

Jed Parramore had his first bet today and so that's everyone playing now and therefore the prizes shown on the excel update are now confirmed.

Monday 14 May 2012

14may12 oops what title!

6 winners from 30 bets today and a bit of movement at the top Ian Carpenter moved into a clear 2nd with a nice 9-2 winner to sit £5.88 behind Eamon Kelly our leader.  Terry Matthews continued his good form with a 5-1 winner his 3rd in 4 days to go 3rd on +£12.60.  Other winners were Annette Berg 1-4, Martin Long 11-4, and a best of the day 6-1 for Mark Dighton.

All of the guys at the top of the plate failed to score except for the single point added by Rod Brown so no change there.

Sunday 13 May 2012

13may12 Absolutely Brilliant

What a fantastic 'Boys Own' finish - watched it in a great bar in Atlanta they had 8 games live on massive screens all round what an atmos!

But back at a not maybe quite so exciting day 15 of the naps comp a pretty respectable 8 winners from 25 bets today.  The leader, Eamon Kelly picked up an odds-on winner to stretch the lead a little as those behind sat out or missed.  Jake Fifield's 5-2 winner took him to 7th, Michael Brook got off the mark with a 7-2 winner, the best of the day, and so did Jon Curtis with his 3-1 winner.

In the plate Steve Walton picked up a 5 pointer but Justin Sercombe moved 2nd with a nice 10 point winner so sits just 8 points behind with 3 bets in hand, Kevin Wood also got back on track with his 2nd 10 pointer in 3 days to go 3rd relegating Rod Brown from 2nd to 4th in one day after Realt Dubh finished last of 18 when favourite, more training on the racecourse - thanks Noel Meade (my nap as well).

Saturday 12 May 2012

12may12 Go City Go

31 bets today and 5 winners, they were Andy Wilson who had his first bet today which won at 11-2 and so goes straight in at 6th, Terry Matthews 11-10 to move up a place to 4th, Wayne Morton who after a slow start brought up a double to go positive.  Probably overall the best of the day was Justin Sercombe with a 9-2, 10 point winner to move joint 2nd in the plate and  onto the leaderboard in 7th, oh and finally Steve Walton with "a poxy Irish odds on winner" - probable quote Vince Paige, when he reads this :-)

I just can't imagine how we could all survive the smug Ferguson face, and fawning press coverage, if they United fluke this because City bottle it - please no

QPR are an unbelievable 18-1 to win (still bad value they are crap) and in a two horse race.  The double Sunderland and QPR both to win is 132-1.

Spurs to finally win a pressure game and pip Arsenal to 3rd after they can only draw at WBA

11may12 phew its hot

31 bets and a very poor 3 winners but of some quality!  Best was the 14-1 for Ian Carpenter to propel him into 3rd, Jimmy McGarrity got off the mark with a 11-2 shot and I managed to chip a little away of Eamon Kelly's lead with an 11-4 winner to stay second.

So no winners among the plate leaders Rod missing out on catching up to Steve Walton who still leads on 59.

Friday 11 May 2012

10may12 slow

Just 4 winners from Wayne Morton, Rod Brown, Lee Constable and Dave Barker, only movement on the main leader board was Rod Brown rising to 7th.

Rod also closed in by 5 points as Steve Walton sat out in the plate

Thursday 10 May 2012

09may12 well done

10 winners today from 41 bets - stand out was Eamon Kelly with a 14-1 winner to take the lead and go £12.49 clear of the field.  Others of note were Gary Dighton 11-1 to go to +£8.00 and 3rd place and 10-1 winner for both Mark Nutting & Terry Matthews to go 8th and 4th respectively.

Steve Walton moved over 10 points clear of Rod Brown to head up the leaderboard in the plate

Tuesday 8 May 2012

08may12 must try harder

A pretty pathetic 3 winners from 28 bets today and two of those were odds on.  Best was Jake Fifield at 8-1 to go 7th on +£4.00, others were Steve Walton 1-3 and Ian Carpenter got off the mark with a 10-11 winner.  So as only Eamon Kelly had a bet among the top 3, and that lost, he fell from 2nd to 3rd now 51p behind Kevin Dighton who sits 2nd.  Who without doubt is looking up longingly at the total posted by the leader :-)

Steve Walton took over at the top after scoring 5 points as he caught up his bet in hand over Rod Brown but only 1 point in it.

New RSS news feed added

BBC have disbanded their racing feed - presumably they are in a bit of a huff having lost all their coverage.

So I have added the racing headlines feed from Racing Post which looks like a big improvement

Monday 7 May 2012

07may12 Hammers home

26 bets and 8 winners today, best was Annette Berg with a 10-1 winner to go straight in at 4th.  I had a winner at 11-10 to regain top spot from Eamon Kelly who didn't! Others were mainly short priced aiming for points in the plate, except for Tom Feeney who picked up a 7-1 winner and while that was enough to put him back positive he only sits 12th on +£1.00.

Plate was pretty much 10 points for everyone except Kevin Wood who missed out with just a 1 point 4th, Justin Sercombe moved into the cash paying positions where he belongs!

4 people still to have their first bet, they are Andy & Pete Wilson, Jed Parramore & new player Lee Johnson.

File has gone to Vince Paige who will do the first excel update email later

Sunday 6 May 2012

06may12 I'm back

3 winners today from 28 bets, best by far and in fact the best of the comp so far was Kevin Dighton with a 12-1 winner to go 3rd.  Eamon Kelly sat out and I didn't so I slipped back 59p behind him in 2nd.  The other winners were Kevin Wood 9-2 and Dave Kingsbury 3-1.

In the plate Kevin Wood has forced his way onto the leaderboard and Martin Long is closing in 5th on  16 points

05may12 behind the pace

35 bets and just 4 winners best was Eamon Kelly with another 100-30 winner to move 2nd within 41p of me. Other winners were top 3 in the plate Steve Walton, Rod Brown, Kevin Wood all with 10 point winners

Saturday 5 May 2012

04may12 bit better

5 winners from 30 bets today. Mark Sharman got off the mark with a nice 9-2 winner to go 7th, also Alan Mabb 5-2, Kevin Hall 10-11, Lee Constable with his first bet and winner @ 11-2 to go straight in at 4th, and finally Martin Long 6-4

In the plate Rod Brown 7 clear at the top on 24 points Steve Walton & Eamon Kelly joint 2nd on 17 and Martin Long 1 point behind in 4th

03may12 sorry so late

Only 2 winners on Thursday so not much to report they were Rod Brown 4-5 & Dave Kingsbury 7-4

Away in Italy will be back Sunday

Wednesday 2 May 2012

02may12 easy

Clearly I will regret that title :-) - but it is 3 from 3 with my 6-4 winner today to just about stay top.  31 bets 7 winners best was Ross Harvey 7-1 to move straight in at 4th, others were Eamon Kelly & Dave Barker both 6-4, Kevin Hall with his 2nd 9-2 winner in a row to move 2nd, Terry Matthews 9-2 to go 7th and finally Robert Baker evens.

Both leaders in the plate missed out and just scored 2 points each.

Very noble piece of betting by Kevin Dighton yesterday accepting an even money bet with me on who will finish higher even though he knew about my 8-1 winner yesterday I think it is just pity following my dreadful performance in our last bet at Cheltenham but hey £50!

Tuesday 1 May 2012

01may12 surprised? I am!

30 bets and 8 winners, best was Maurice Edgington (me!!) 8-1 and I backed it. There were some other nice winners, Danny Beaman 5-1, Kevin Hall 9-2, Roger Dore 11-4.  Other winners were Justin Sercombe, Steve Walton, Vince Paige, & Rod Brown.

Steve Walton rises to joint leader alongside Rod Brown in the plate after his 10 point winner at Ballinrobe, Justin Sercombe picked the same horse to join the leaderboard.
