Monday 27 December 2010

27dec10 at last

Well after the devastation to the comp at least something to look at. So today 44 bets including 18 forced losers and 7 winners. A few nice ones Bert P. 6-1 & Julian 9-2 & Trevor 8-1.

Kevin W. still leds the plate but only by 1 point and having had 9 more bets than Justin is in a bit of a false position.

Excel will be sent out tonight

Wednesday 22 December 2010

22dec10 new leader

Vernon reaches the top after posting an 13-2 winner today and he goes 4.19 clear of Dave F. 40 bets today 8 winners and 9 forced losers

I'm sending the excel out today as lots more may go or get very close to dormy during the Xmas break so watch out

Great that the box for Cheltenham on the last day got sorted for those that have said yes - well done Kev

HAPPY XMAS EVERYBODY

21dec10 we're back

38 bets 5 winners no major movers 10 forced losers included

Sunday 19 December 2010

19dec10 nil

Nice easy update day - I like this so much free time :-)

Excel now sent most exciting action was Pete L. 33-1 winner on Thursday that put him up to 3rd

These blank day playing havoc with spare days loads now dormy and with 3 blank days across the Christmas break scheduled looks bad for some

The 12 now DORMY are George C. Martin B. Neil, Mark O. Mark N. John H. Jed, Val, Mark D. Ricky P. Colin E. Dan P.

Thursday 16 December 2010

16dec10 nothing to report

Only because I haven't even looked at it! Company Xmas party tonight preceeded by board meeting so you will have to wait until Saturday for any more reports as I'm travelling to Atlanta tomorrow!

Wednesday 15 December 2010

15dec10 just 3

41 bets only 3 winners! They were Mark K. Ian W. and James F. so not much action at the top of the leader boards. Craig set a bit of a record today with his 5th sucessive 4th place!

Vernon continued his slow reeling in of the leaders in the plate with a 5 point 2nd place

Tuesday 14 December 2010

14dec10 yet another

Vernon joins the party with a 16-1 winner today one of 5 winners from 50 bets today - 50 bets is a first for the naps comp ever. That takes Vernon 2nd only 2.31 behind Dave F. who hangs on in 1st on +43.64. Rather amusingly relegating Vince to 3rd after only 1 day of glory. Geoff D. picked a 5-1 winner to move back into the cash in 5th. Other winners were Ricky, Pete, and Helen.

Plate is as it was both Justin & Kevin maintaining the 3 point gap although Vernon's 10 point winner started the process of bridging the gap he is 31 points behind but with 6 bets in hand.

13dec10 and another

Vince hits a 16-1 winner and leaps after Dave and into 2nd he is still 15.70 behind but it is the start of the field once again reeling Dave back in! 5 winners in total from 43 bets inc. 5 FL, Dave has switched back to short priced bets now and hit another winner so a good switch in tactics to make the field try and pick big winners.

Neil worthy of a mention with a 10-1 winner that lifts him back level

Plate Justin edged a little clear with a 2 point 2nd to Kevin W. zero.

Sunday 12 December 2010

12dec10 big winner again

09dec10 25 bets 4 winners
10dec10 44 bets 12 winners
11dec10 41 bets 7 winners
12dec10 20 bets 2 winners (inc 5 forced losers)

Dave F. has hit another 25-1 shot to zoom clear of the field again on +43.73 one of his regular picks so not that much of a fluke - well done. He sits 17.40 clear of Vernon in 2nd and 23.23 clear of 3rd place Barry.

Drama in the plate as well our long time leader Kevin W. lost the lead after a bad weekend he sits 1 point behind Justin on 140 & 141 points respectively. however they are both miles ahead of the rest of us 3rd place Gary P. is only on 98.

5 players now dormy Dan & Ricky P. Val, Colin, & Martin B.

Excel will be sent out this evening

Thursday 9 December 2010

08dec10 biggie

Pat Q jnr hits a big 16-1 winner, one of only 5 winners today from very much more healthy 35 bets - looks like we have all got fed up with waiting for some turf racing and now have settled for AW.

Leaders in the plate both scored points but missed winners so no change.

Tuesday 7 December 2010

07dec10 ok that's it

Enough cold weather now let's get back to business. Southwell getting abandoned hit a fair few bets today but we still managed 7 winners from the 24 bets that survived, so a fair return. Kevin W. got a 11-4 winner to catch up a bit on the leaders and sits 6th but now less than 2.00 covers 2nd through 6th with Barry leading 2.09 clear.

All 3 leaders in the plate had winners and Vernon remains best of the rest in 4th on 82 points but that is 53 behind the leader!

Monday 6 December 2010

06dec10 improving

31 bets 6 winners another new leader Barry J. hits a nice 13-2 winner to go +22.50 1.77 above Dave F. who moved back into 2nd thanks to a 8-11 winner pushing Helen down to 3rd 32p behind him.

Both Kevin W. and Gary P. had the same 8-11 winner at the top of the plate, Justin sat out in 2nd 8 bets in hand 15 points behind.

Dan had the first forced loser of the comp - pretty early notwithstanding the weather.

Sunday 5 December 2010

05dec10 poor day

26 bets and just two winners but of some significance. Rod's was pretty short priced but it consolidated his place just outside the cash in the plate and Vernon's at 11-4 pushed him up into 2nd above James by 90p and just 33p behind Helen who holds on to the yellow jersey!

So top 4 cover by only 1.41 and with Vernon with the most bets had he might be slight favourite.

Dan P. goes dormy today and so will be on forced losers everyday from now on in.

04dec10 FIFA rules OK

If the only way we can get it is to cheat we don't want it - have nothing to do with them until they sort out their stuff. Lets form a breakaway organisation!

Saturday 20 bets 4 winners, James F. Justin, Lee, & Martin B. James f. had the best priced at 11-2 and that took him up into 2nd place behind Helen by just 1.23. Dave falls to 3rd just 18p behind James.

Justin is back after 7 days without a bet and straight onto a winner now just 10 points behind Kevin W. in the plate but with 7 bets in hand.

Saturday 4 December 2010

03dec10 slow and snowy

Friday 16 bets 3 winners, Alan 4-1 with James F. and Tim picking the same 13-8 winner.

So nothing to report on the leader tables

Friday 3 December 2010

02dec10 girls on top

Just 14 bets 3 winners on Thursday - best was Martin L. with a 11-2 winner but most significant was Helen's 100-30 winner to go top by 41p over Dave F. only other winner on a very light day was Stuart B. He has now had 17 winner this campaign, joint top in number of winners with Kevin W. although a fair way behind him (53 points to be exact) in the plate because so many of Stuart's winners have been 3 pointers.

CHELTENHAM FESTIVAL

FYI the last day for club badges at a 5.00 saving per day ends on 6th December after that it is 70.00 Thursday and and for Gold Cup day , Friday 18th March, rates are 80.00.

Wednesday 1 December 2010

30nov10 01dec10 2 in 1

30th - 19 bets 4 winners nothing of note price-wise but the leader had a winner an 11-4 shot so moving a little further ahead of the field.

1st - 18 bets just a solitary winner Helen who also was one of the 4 winners on the 30th so snow helping her! Now moves into 3rd a single 1p ahead of Kevin W. and just 22p behind Vernon in who sits 2nd.

Not much to report on the plate except Kevin W. has now gone 6 bets since he had a winner and in that period only picked up 1 point so with Justin not betting he now looks just ahead only 13 behind but 5 bets in hand.

Tuesday 30 November 2010

29nov10 snow

Just 15 bets on Monday with only 2 winners, Pete L. scored again with a 12-1 winner Mark N. with an odds on shot was the only other winner. Such a slow day because of all the selections at Folkestone that was abandoned

Sunday 28 November 2010

28nov10 tough weekend

Saturday 39 bets just 5 winners and Sunday a slow day 19 bets and only 3 winners. Highlights were Pete L. with a nice 8-1 winner today and Stuat B. completing a 6 timer on Saturday and that's 9 out of 10 winners in the last 10 bets, impressive stuff. Looks like reality has set in for Kevin while he is only 2.05 behind Dave F. the leader and still top of the plate he hasn't had a winner for the last 4 bets!!

Excel will be issued tonight

Friday 26 November 2010

26nov10 big day

Well in terms of bets a total of 43 but only 6 winners. Best by a mile was Craig C. with a 10-1 winner. No action at the top of the table again today but Dave F moved 1.05 ahead by virtue of a no bet as his selection got caught in the abandonment at Wolverhampton today.

Kevin failed to score in the plate for the 2nd day running but no one ws able to exploit that and reel him in to any extent.

Lets hope Newbury makes it through the night I'm expecting half the naps to be on the same horse Denman of course

Thursday 25 November 2010

25nov10 thanksgiving

42 bets 11 winners a very rare thing happened today all the top 4 lost so as we were. Barry J. and Vernon both closed them down a bit to move with 8.00 of the leader. Gry C. makes up the final cash place.

Wednesday 24 November 2010

24nov10 top spot drama

Dave F. storms into action and takes back top spot by just 5p with a nice 9-2 winner from Kevin W's 11-4 winner. Helen slips back as a result to 3rd now 4.46 behind the leader. Overall 12 winners from 40 bets and as group we still remain up after 910 bets between us a fine performance.

Kevin forging clear in the plate he is now up to 118 points and 14 points clear of Justin who has 1 bat in hand

Tuesday 23 November 2010

23nov10 quickie!

41 bets just 9 winners and plenty of short priced ones at that. Obviously including Kevin W. who edges a little further clear of Helen who has risen another place to 2nd just 69p back, Dave F. is 3rd 1.70 behind the leader.

Nothing else of note to report

Monday 22 November 2010

22nov10 new leader

High drama at the top of the table there is now just 95p between the top 4 with Kevin W 8p ahead of Dave F. Helen a further 49p back and Geoff D. just another 38p away. Today 9 winners from 35 bets.

In the plate leaders Kevin W and Justin picked the same horse another 10 point winner to both break through the 100 point barrier already both 21 bets Kevin 107 and Justin 106

Sunday 21 November 2010

END OF COMP RACE DAY INVITE

Please reply ASAP to Kevin's email about all meeting up and getting a box at Cheltenham for 29th January it will be the 10 year anniversary of the comp to the exact day!

Clearly not a coincidence that we picked that as the last day :-)

21nov10 tough day

Just 3 winners today from 35 bets not helped by 12 naps running in the same race - The Becher with the best only finishing 5th!! However the best of the winners there were was Lee with 10-1, others were Rod (8-13f) and Mark K. (9-2).

All very tight at the top of the leader board top 4 covered by less than 2.00, Dave has been reeled in very quickly, Helen only 49p behind in 2nd a great start from a newcomer to the comp.

Kevin finally lost his 100% record with his 20th bet failing to score any points in the plate the first time. Justin remains hot on his heals with an almost identical record and just 2 points behind. Just 2 left with 100% records now Martin B. who has only had 4 bets and Gary P. poised 17 points behind but with 4 bets in hand

Excel sent out.

Friday 19 November 2010

18nov10 stato

Bollocks I just typed all this and it didn't get saved - bit pissed so going to ramble a bit I expect.

England pick the same guys and don't be surprised if you get the same result - so let's not worry about the new guys, so they were rubbish (except Carroll) how can they be any worse than the old guard they failed, worse these guys can do is the same what have we to lose?

Back to the racing 37 bet 10 winners including Barry with 22-1 winner and Pat Snr with a 10-1 shot. Leader Dave popped in a 1-2 winner so I think we should all have a handle on his tactics now. We are reeling him in - 5 guys within 9.00 of the leader now.

Stats - 684 bets so far 195 winners (brilliant) and to a level pound stake overall we are +111.66 read 'em and weep you professional tipsters

Plate leaders both missed today but with a 5 point 2nd each they kept up the awsome start.

Thursday 18 November 2010

17nov10 brilliant

Well I'm running out of superlatives here, 42 bets 16 winners, the best ever tally for a day. Topped off with Jo zooming into 4th on the back of her 22-1 winner but loads of others. Mark Dighton hit a winner and scored his first points in the plate to move off the bottom, and both our slow starters Val & Martin B. have now scored a double each in the last two days. Helen also consolidated her top 3 spot with another winner to go less than 9.00 behind the leader.

Plate is magnificent Gary P., Kevin W.,& Justin, the top 3, all had a 10 point winner storming stuff!

A special mention for Kevin D. who never gets onto the news board he had a winner as well - Kevin is actually entertainment secretary so are we doing this end of comp corporate day at Cheltenham or not?

Monday 15 November 2010

16nov10 joke

Courtesy of an old naps comper - Sara

Woman meets man in a bar & goes back to his place. During the evening notices 3 rows of teddy bears sat on shelves in his bedroom. bottom shelf has all small bears middle one medium sized and top one all large. Woman thinks bloke must be sensitive & he could be the one. So she sleeps with him. Next morning woman asks bloke "How was I?" Bloke replies "not bad at all, help yourself to any prize off the middle shelf"

:-) - just to see if anyone is reading these!

16nov10 slow

Slow Monday as usual just a light dusting of winners (7 from 29 bets) nothing bigger than 7-2, so no dramatic moves from anyone. Leader picked an odds on winner - possible change in tactics from him here, can't remember Dave picking odds on shots much at all over the past few years. I'll keep you briefed!

Sunday 14 November 2010

14nov10 open mtg over

Good range of winners over the Open Meeting at Cheltenham, 9 Friday, 8 Saturday and 12 Sunday. No one did a clean sweep of the meeting but Vernon T, Vince, Rod, Kevin W. & Helen all managed 2 from 3.

Main leaderboard for all the cash places below and these are confirmed now that Martin Broderick has had his first bet (a winner).

Plate is definitley better with the new scoring system and Kevin has taken over on top as he is 11 from 13 winners and still 100% of his horses have finished in the top 4.

1 Dave Fifield +26.50
2 Kevin Wood +21.63
3 Helen Gillies +15.90
4 Geoff Dighton +14.75
5 Vernon Tremble +14.25
6 Bert Peart +13.00
7 Stuart McLeod +12.33

Thursday 11 November 2010

11nov11 silence

OK so when did it move from 1 minute to 2 minutes?

37 bets 11 winners today inc. Stuart M. with a fine 16-1 shot and 8-1 for Mark K. Leader missed today but Kevin W got straight back on track after his first loser yesterday to go 9 from 10. Helen (new girl) recorded her 5th winner so far to move into 7th place and into the cash very good start.

Plate sees Justin with a commanding 12 point lead over 2nd on 55 points with the field miles behind - 4th is on just 29 points its almost all over already!

Tuesday 9 November 2010

09nov10 nice pair

Bert & Geoff both picked a nice 14-1 winner today to shoot into contention. 8 other winners from 36 bets. Kevin W had a no bet so extends the 100% record :-). Dave F the leader had a loser.

Justin also picked another short priced winner to move 11 points clear of the field in the plate.

Remarkably we have moved through the 100 winner mark already top quality.

Val joined in today with her first bet so just Martin Broderick to start and we are complete.

Monday 8 November 2010

08nov10 and then there was 1

29 bets 8 winners best was Gary C with a nice 12-1 winner to go 6th and in the cash. But worryingly the leader Dave F popped another 11-4 winner in again to go 14.87 clear of the field.

Kevin W. goes 8 from 8 but Graham Jones loses his 100% record with a 3rd today.

Justin also goes from strength to strength with 6 from 7 and is now on 40 points in the plate 4 clear of Kevin W who despite having every winner is still behind!

Sunday 7 November 2010

07nov10 week1 ends

31 bets 7 winners - leader picked up a winner at 11-4 so moved further away - very heady heights for Dave a transformed man!

We lost one of the 100% records today, Vince could only manage a 2nd but both Graham (5 from 5) and the superstar Kevin Wood (7 from 7) maintained theirs. Graham with a nice 11-4 shot.

In the plate Justin is 4 points clear of Kevin W on 35 points with Vince and Jake both on 29, 2 behind Kevin - Vince 3rd on count back.

Still two players to have a bet Val and Martin Broderick so until they do the prizes are still slightly provisional

Saturday 6 November 2010

06nov10 normal service resumed

So the golden period has ended only 5 winners from 35 bets today. Best was Jimmy with 11-2 that just takes him into the last cash paying position, 7th. All the 100% boys didn't have a bet today, 2 had non runners and Vince stood out.

In the plate Justin took back over on top with a 10-11 winner to be on 30 points from 6 bets (5 winners) with Vince in 2nd on 28 from 5.

Looks like we are on for a complete whitewash at Churchill Downs tonight in the Breeders Cup, which I think we can put down to the fact that we have only sent crap horses over there! Watch out for Sidney's Candy in the mile turf @ 8.40 (10-1).

Friday 5 November 2010

05nov10 gob smacked

15 winners again today from just 35 bets this is awsome guys keep it up hope some of you are backing these suckers! and come on girls none of you had a bet today what's going on.

All of the 3 100% guys, Kevin W. Vince & Graham J. all had winners again today - so go Kevin go for 7 in a row. Not sure if that is a record as the record keeper Vince has completely failed to keep up the ROH for that stat!

So despite all of those winners not much change as the longest priced was 4-1. Only top of the leader board action was Vince taking back over in the plate on 28 points from 5 bets with Kevin back in 2nd on 26 from 6 bets.

Just to avoid any confusion that's Kevin Wood not Kevin Dighton :-)

04nov10 big winner

Sorry missed yesterday which was 42 bets 11 winners - not bad

so today (Thursday) Dave Fifield hits a 20-1 winner to storm into the lead, good pick, a horse he has been following finally came good. That puts him +27.00 with Kevin W. 2nd on +13.00 and Jake F. (son of Dave!) on +12.08 in 3rd.

Three still with 100% records: Graham J - 3 from 3, Vince - 4 from 4, and topping them all Kevin W. - 5 from 5 brilliant stuff a very high quality comp.

Bad news on the entries we have a withdrawal so now only 59 that makes 1st only 1300!

5 players still to have their first bet Steve, Jo, Geoff D. Martin B & Val

Plate, of course, sees Kevin W leading but only on countback from Vince so new system is making it more interesting

Wednesday 3 November 2010

02nov10 wow again

Another super day 12 winners again from 38 bets. A few better priced winners today to put early pressure on Dave F 8-1 and George C 10-1. Rather amazingly 4 people remain 100% after 3 bets Graham J, Vince, Kevin W, and Justin - great stuff.

Kevin remains leader on +11.83

In the plate a few 10 point winners now so leader is now Justin at 20 points Vince 18 and Kevin W on 13. 13 guys still to have their first bet.

Monday 1 November 2010

01nov10 early update

33 bets and another impressive 9 winners. Those with 2 from 2 are Vince, Graham Jones, Justin, Kevin W, Mark O, George C.

George picked up a nice 13-2 winner but still only in 2nd 92p behind Kevin W. who is the early leader he hit a 100-30 winner today to follow up his 5-1 winner yesterday so sits on +8.33 already

My first selection fell when leading 2 out in a hurdle so back to the dirt

Sunday 31 October 2010

31oct10 We're off

Welcome to all the new people who are joining us this time - try and do the follower bit if you can be bothered but WOW! what a start, 12 winners, looks like people are taking it seriously. Nothing startling on the prices with the best only 5-1 (Kevin W). 32 bets on the opening day so also a good first day total as well.

I won't list all the winners too many and usually I would send the new and improved (and smaller) re-written excel file out tonight but not really worth it for just one day.

Friday 22 October 2010

Provisional numbers confirmed

Vince reports that as at this morning we are 56 confirmed still hoping for latecomers from the burning rubble of Hereford!

Getting close to the start

Will be sending first test text this weekend look out for that and when that is all confirmed will go live on reminders

Tuesday 12 October 2010

Plate Rule changes confirmed

New scoring system to replace the rather simplictic 5,2,1 system applied before is as follows:

1 runner - nil
2-4 runners - 2,0,0,0
5-7 runners - 3,1,0,0
8-15 runners - 5,2,1,0
16+ runners - 10,5,2,1

Our tests applied to the last 40 or so bets of the last comp show that basically the same people would win (maybe Jed would have pipped Gary D) but everything would be much closer as we would severly cut back all the points scored by winners in small races making it very worthwhile to pick a winner in a big handicap.

the idea is to keep the interest in the plate lasting much longer

Sunday 26 September 2010

NEXT COMP IDEAS

We are thinking that we will have a bit of a break before the next comp. The next comp will be the 10 year anniversary event and to celebrate that we are targetting ending on 29th January 2011 the actual 10 year anniversary day so that would be at Cheltenham.

Been trying to get a bumper entry so if anyone knows likely joiners push them here or get them to email/text Vince or me.

We will probably try and make the plate a bit more sophisticated by awarding more points for winners in races with more runners - the trial has been running for half of this comp but we have yet to assess the results. I will post those here at some point.

25sep10 last day

The end of a pretty interesting run in with Pat unlucky to lose the lead so near the end to Tim. Sure you all know the result of the last day by now, another day with no winners! So Tim keeps first place and collects 900. Gary D won the plate. Final excel will be sent out later tonight.

Vince will contact all winners to distribute cash

Top ten were:

1 Tim Catlin +32.00 900 prize
2 Patrick Quinn +29.88 300
3 Jake Fifield +23.50 150
4 Vince Paige +19.89 100
5 Rod Brown +18.74 50
6 Alan Mabb +18.74 (6th on countback less winners)
7 Gary Dighton +12.55
8 Geoff Dighton +11.15
9 Mark Dighton +5.63
10 Barry James +0.50

Plate was:

1 Gary Dighton 154 100 prize
2 Jed Parramore 151 50
3 Rod Brown 139
4 Gary Pascoe 119
5 Kevin Wood 117
6 Ian Carpenter 109

Very unlucky for Alan losing cash on countback we have never had a draw - just to clarify tie break is greater number of winners if still level then the prize is shared.

Thanks to Kevin Dighton sponsor and the largest source of entries to the comp and all those who attended the last day.

Friday 24 September 2010

24sep10 one left

No winners at all from anyone - just one great performance that was me!! 2nd a 50-1 so everything the same as yesterday.

See none of you tomorrow by the sounds of it!

Ok I'll spend the day with Vince on my own - thanks guys

Thursday 23 September 2010

23sep10 new leader

Drama with only 3 days to go Tim hits a 12-1 shot to go top, Mark O also had a good 10-1 winner the other 3 were all short although Jake's 6-4 shot consolidated his 3rd place well.

Plate is effectively down to 2 only Gary D & Jed can win it - in theory Rod can get 2nd but not if Jed scores a single point more in his last 2 bets

Main leader board is:

1 Tim Catlin 2 (left) +34.00
2 Patrick Quinn 1 +30.88
3 Jake Fifield 2 +25.50
4 Vince Paige 2 +21.89
5 Rod Brown 2 +20.74
6 Alan Mabb 1 +19.74
7 Gary Dighton 2 +14.55
8 Geoff Dighton 1 +12.15
9 Mark Dighton 2 +7.63
10 Barry James 2 +2.50

Nice effort by the Dighton clan with 3 of the 4 dightons in the top 10 - obviously don't need to say which one isn't there :-)

Wednesday 22 September 2010

22sep10 that's better

29 bets 6 winners and 8 forced losers. All 3 at the top of the plate all had a winner and so that remains Gary D - 147, Jed - 144, Rod - 139 all with 3 bets to go.

In the main comp Rod, Vince, Jake, all had winners and so the leader board looks like this:

1 Patrick Quinn 2 (left) +31.88
2 Jake Fifield 3 +24.00
3 Tim Catlin 3 +22.00
4 Vince Paige 2 +21.89
5 Rod Brown 3 +21.74
6 Alan Mabb 1 +19.74
7 Gary Dighton 3 +14.26

Exciting stuff

Tuesday 21 September 2010

21sep10 come on

28 bets and just a solitary winner for Kevin W 9-2 so no real change at all from yesterday, slight edge for Pat as he sat out while all those around him had losers

Monday 20 September 2010

20sep10 nearly there

27 bets 4 winners and 6 forced losers best were Mark & Gary Dighton with a 14-1 winner - no problem if you want to tell your mates about 14-1 tips guys!! that lifted them both to +10.00 so in the hunt if they can repeat that. Another rare event today Kevin troubled the scorer with a nice 10-1 shot.

None of the top 5 had a winner and Rod fell below Vince who sat out today. Top of the table reads:

1.Patrick Quinn +32.88 (58 bets)
2.Jake Fifield +23.12 (56)
3.Tim Catlin +23.00 (57)
4.Vince Paige +22.49 (57)
5.Rod Brown +22.34 (56)
6.Alan Mabb +20.74 (59)

and the plate

1.Gary Dighton 142 (57 bets)
2.Jed Parramore 138 (56)
3.Rod Brown 134 (56)

19sep10 six to go

Busy weekend of drinking and poker (cashed in WCOOP last night) anyway back to the exciting final throws of the comp. Pretty poor performance over the weekend as everyone but the leaders are hunting around for ridiculously priced winners (my 2nd at 33-1 was a reasonable stab at that!). Those that did have a winner, and there were only 6 across the two days from 50+ bets, were mainly the leaders. Tim scoring Friday and Sunday at 6-1 & 8-1 and Pat hitting a 7-1 winner Sunday and Jake keeping up with a 6-1 winner Sunday as well.

Top 5 are:
Pat +33.88 (4 bets left)
Jake +24.12 (6)
Rod +23.34 (6)
Tim +23.00 (4)
Vince +22.49 (4)

Alan can feel a bit unlucky at +20.74 and not being in the cash but having had 2 more bets than Vince he would automatically overtake him if Vince fails to find another winner.

Plate - Jed is now top on 138 from 55 bets, Gary D 2nd 137 from 56 and 3rd Rod on 134 from 55.

Thursday 16 September 2010

16sep10 happy anniversary

Yes it's my 22nd wedding anniversary today, just 3 winners nothing of note on the main leaderboard.

In the plate Jed lept from 3rd to lead on 133 points from 52 bets, 2nd Gary D 132 points from 53 bets and in 3rd and out of the money Rod129 from 54.

Wednesday 15 September 2010

15sep10 ten to go

29 bets 5 winners and 5 forced losers. Winners were Bert, Gary D, Jed, Jake, & Mark O - most significant was Jake who while he only managed a 7-4 winner, nevertheless moved to within 4p of Vince in 2nd. They are both well within striking range only 8.00 behind the leader Pat

Gary D's favourite won but Rod's could only manage a lowly 8th and so that let Rod back into the lead in the plate. While Jed's treble over the last three days has put him right back in the mix only 5 points behind Rod but with 2 bets in hand.

14sep10 good day

29 bets 7 winners and 7 forced losers. Best was 10-1 by Barry J but the most significant on the leader board was Jake 4-1 and now goes 3rd 11.51 behind the leader.

All three leaders in the plate had winners

Monday 13 September 2010

13sep10 ordinary

Standard day 27 bets 6 winners and 9 forced. Longest price was only 11-4, Geoff D picked up a 5-2 winner to consolidate in 3rd and in the plate Rod went back top but now 2 bets behind but only 2 points ahead as Gary D waited out today.

Sunday 12 September 2010

12sep10 sorry

Busy, pissed at Kareoke party, weekend away at wedding - in that order so not been able to get to the blog and even the updates.

Drama over the last 4 days with 4 good winners (amoungst a total of 18 winner in all)

Bert P & Pat both with the same 14-1 winner today (hope you all got the stop press I sent out by teaxt earlier this afternoon), Mark D with a 22-1 winner on Friday and Jake F with a 16-1 winner today as well.

So Pat now top and actually 7.72 clear of Vince and Geoff now 16.23 behind the leader. Jake sneaks into 4th only 28p behind Geoff but Jake is dormy so Geoff is a secure 3rd for the moment.

In the plate we also have a new leader Gary D takes over on 122 points from Rod on 119 and Gary has a bet in hand.

Wednesday 8 September 2010

08sep10 zero

None not a single winner - so kevin got half of what was needed :-)

A few seconds so a good day for Pat & Alan who missed their bets and both gained 1.00 on the leader.

Roger & Neil need to watch out only got 8 & 7 bets left respectively and with one kept for the last day they need 10 no bet days in the next 16 days.

07sep10 big winner

Sorry haven't got to this sooner

Monday - quiet, well in terms of winners just 3 Gary, Gary & Barry! But a real stand out winner from Barry at 20-1 if he had only not been so crap so far he would be right in the mix :-) as it is he sits on -13.50 in 20th place.

Tuesday - much more impressive 32 bets only Jake missed out with 9 forced losers and 8 winners. The leader Vince (together with Geoff and Alan) all picked My Kingdom at 9-4 which pushes Vince to 6.28 clear of Pat but with both Geoff and Alan not far away in 3rd and 4th at only just over 10.00 behind

In the plate the position is:

1st Rod 118 points (50 bets)
2nd Gary D 112 (48)
3rd Kevin W 105 (50)
4th Jed 100 (43)
28th Kevin D 23 (43) :-)

So Jed only needs to average 2.5 points each for his 7 bets in hand and he would basically be joint leader. Kevin just needs 18 winners his last 18 bets and no-one else to score a point to scrape into 2nd and the cash so arithmetically we can't write him off yet :-)

Monday 6 September 2010

RULE ANNOUNCEMENT

Just to confirm that the new rule that was introduced for the first time in this comp, that restricts the maximum odds at the start of the comp to 33-1 is now lifted - we have reached the final 20 days stage now (actually yesterday) and so odds above 33-1 now count in full.

Sunday 5 September 2010

05sep10 steady day

27 bets 7 forced losers and 6 winners inc the leader, Vince, who went for a 10-11f. Excel will be sent later.

Mark O went dormy today

04sep10 full house

All 33 players had a bet a very rare ocurrance. So 33 bets, 6 forced losers and 5 winners, best was Tim with 12-1 and both Ian C and Mark O had nice 4-1 winners. The other two were Rod and Kevin W with shorter priced winners in their bid for the plate.

So on the main leaderbosrd that lifts Tim to +11.00 exactly 14.00 behind Vince in 4th, Alan M is in 5th the last money spot just 3p ahead of Lee in 6th.

Plate Kevin W retakes 2nd with his winner from Gary D who could only manage a 3rd. Rod still looks odds on for the plate on level bets with Kevin w but 12 points ahead.

Friday 3 September 2010

03sep10 one only

29 bets 8 forced losers and just one winner for Jed at 5-2 nothing much else to report in the main comp, so leaders remain separated by the same 3.12

In the plate Gary D scrapped a 2nd to break the 100 points barrier and now lies 10 points behind Rod the leader with 3 bets in hand. Jed isn't out of it, 8 bets in hand on the leader and 25 points behind, but a tough ask.

Thursday 2 September 2010

02sep10 quiet

29 bets 7 forced losers and just 3 winners. Best was Roger D with a nice 10-1 winner to move up to 6th +8.25 Steve and Ken J both with different 11-4 winners. Vince playing a bit more of a tactical game and not betting moved to +3.12 ahead of Pat but one bet fewer.

Plate very quiet

01sep10 catching up

Sorry for the delay forgot to write this last night got sidetracked by poker - won a seat at the WCOOP event#11 but have decided to sell it.

Another good day at the top of the leaderboard (well for some) 5 winners including a very nice 9-2 winner for Lee and Pat that puts Lee back in the mix after a run of 7 losers and continues Pat's purple patch. This moves him to back into 2nd and only 2.12 behind Vince level bets. Lee sits on +12.46 in 5th.

None of the leaders in the plate had a winner not helped by Auden at 1-3f getting turned over.

Tuesday 31 August 2010

31aug10 Geoff

Tip top stuff on the main leaderboard - Vince and Pat both picked the same horse that finished 2nd and so Geoff with his 3-1 winner moved sweetly back into 2nd and just 7.10 behind the leader.

3rd, 4th & 5th all got winners in the plate and the leader missed out so that has concertinaed up a bit and Gary D sneaks back into 2nd on 1st place count back but with 3 games in hand over 3rd he is much futher clear in reality.

30aug10 Pat

27 bets 7 forced losers and 7 winners. The most significant of which was Pat who retakes 2nd place with a 7-2 winner and moves to only 7.62 behind Vince - who is definitely getting twitchy

Sunday 29 August 2010

29aug10 Rod

24 bets 7 forced losers and 4 winners. Geoff D had a small priced winner to sneak back into 2nd but the star was Rod who picked his 5 winner from the last 6 bets to go 20 points clear in the Plate

Mark D went dormy today and the excel will be sent out shortly

28aug10 2 days

Well the only news in town for Friday and Saturday is the massive double from Pat (last times winner) Friday 16-1 and Saturday 11-1. So he has lept over almost the whole field into 2nd place on +18.88, Vince the leader is +30.00. Geoff is still in touch in third on +17.65. Plenty of other winners 6 winners in total on Friday and 4 on Saturday. Worthy of note is another double across the 2 days by Rod to stamp his authority on the plate which looks like this:

Rod 106 points, (44 bets)
Kevin W 91 (41)
Gary D 87 (38)

Jed went dormy after his no bet on Saturday and Mark D will go dormy as well if he doesn't have a bet on Sunday.

Thursday 26 August 2010

26aug10 double

22 bets including 7 forced losers and just two winners Gary C again and Tim 6-1 and 5-1 respectively. As they are still both well down even after those winners not much else to report.

All quiet on the plate front but with Rod missing a day and Gary P's 2-1f missing the frame yesterday's comment seems dead already!

Wednesday 25 August 2010

25aug10 oh no!

28 bets today including 7 forced losers but Vince banged in another winner for a double this time at a much more worrying 11-2 for those of us with slim thoughts that we are not too far away to catch him. That puts him +32.00 and certain to be +9.00 even if his remaing 23 bets all lose, looking a tough ask. Geoff sits in 2nd 12.35 behind and Lee 3rd 17.04 behind. With his winner today Alan M moves back into the money on 4th 19.51 behind Vince. 5 winners in total, the other three were Ian C, Jed, & Gary D.

The leaders in the plate, Rod & Kevin W, both recorded 2nds today so let Gary D back in a bit with his winner. He moves 1 point ahead of Kevin on 87 now 9 behind Rod with 4 in hand and certainly in a stronger position. Just noticed a bit of a possible player in the Plate who has not had a mention so far that's Gary P. He sits on only 63 points, so 33 points behind Rod, but has 12 bets in hand. So a possible 60 points available, needs to be a bit good to catch up and he is dormy but probably shouldn't write him off yet a while!

With two non runners in the past 3 days Kevin Dighton, our esteemed sponsor, is now the 12th man dormy.

Tuesday 24 August 2010

24aug10 winner wins

29 bets inc. 6 forced losers but delivered 5 winners unfortunately for all but one of us Vince the leader was one of them, at least it was only evens. Other winners were Rod, Lee, Kevin W & Jed. So that brings Lee to just 10.54 behind still in 3rd. Geoff needs to notice that Vince could be changing tactics here and maybe looking at a consolidation play - so Geoff no more random picks Vince is there for the taking. Could say he has a tendancy to 'do a Monty' and choke when a major win beckons - you heard it here first.

So Rod was only toying with the boys behind him in the plate after all when it matters he smashes in a quick double to go 10 points clear 4 bets ahead. It is a close call now would I take 10 points in the club house against 4 bets to go?

I should live so long :-)

Monday 23 August 2010

23aug10 that's better

23 bets (inc. 5 forced losers) with an equal best ever day of this comp total of 8 winners. Inc. 11-1 for Lee to shoot him back into 3rd place and 5-1 for 2nd placed Geoff D who moves to just 4.85 behind Vince who is in the lead on +25.50.

Rod got back on the winning ways with a 4-1 winner to move 7 points clear at the top of the plate - this was following a very uncharacteristic 5 bets registering a total of only 3 points, which is maybe a world record for Rod!

Sunday 22 August 2010

22aug10 single winner

19 bets 4 forced losers and Gary C's 11-4 winner. Dave F became the 11th player to go dormy. Excel will be issued later

21aug10 busy Saturday

28 bets on Saturday 5 winners and 5 forced losers. Gary D & Gary P both had Seta at the unbelievable price of 11-4 - they must have been expecting odds on especially as there were 3 non runners and 3 others all picked Native Khan at 6-5 so no great action on the leaderboard. In the plate Gary D with that winner overtook Kevin W to go 2nd on 80 points 4 behind the long time plate leader Rod who has had 2 more bets.

For the first time in ages Vince, the leader, fell to less than 10.00 clear of the field

Gary P joined the list who are now dormy

Saturday 21 August 2010

20aug10 york over

24 bets on Friday (inc. 4 forced losers) just 3 winners Gary C got his first winner of the comp not a very rewarding 7-4. Tim and Ken were the other winners at 5-1 & 8-1 respectively.

All quiet in the plate

Glad to see someone is reading these closely enough to spot typos!

Friday 20 August 2010

20aug10 half way

Today is the day when we overall will have placed more bets than we have left so the half way mark.

Firstly bear in mind that all is not lost if Vince can be nearly +30 in the first half then we all could in the 2nd half!!

So before today we have placed 964 bets (excluding the 33 forced losers) and had just 179 winners or 18.6% win rate, with an overall loss on those bets of 165.78 i.e. losing % of 17% - call ourselves racing fans that is pretty pathetic really.

Lets sharpen our act up some thrid parties might be watching this blog!!

Thursday 19 August 2010

19aug10 hooray

Busy day and the hooray is for me finally getting a winner, 8-1, Mark K also picked this winner and so with 2 other short priced winners (Mark O and Gary D) we were 4 from 27 today.

Those winners lifted me to mid table mediocrity and Mark K into 3rd place on +11.00 just 17.50 behind Vince who leads on +28.50.

Wednesday 18 August 2010

18aug10 2 good winners

Quiet day yesterday but more action today only 3 winners but those included 10-1 for Pat Q and 14-1 for Roger in the Ebor. This lifted Roger into the cash and knocked Lee out of the cash for the first time since the 2nd bet of the competition.

Plate sees Rod 5 points clear of Kevin W but Kevin has 1 bet in hand. Gary D lies a further 6 loints back from 2nd with 2 bets in hand.

Monday 16 August 2010

16aug10 a few return

18 bets 2 winners and 4 forced losers. Winners were Ian C and Justin at evens and 8-11 respectively - nuff said.

Vince is still away so this was our chance to catch up, but no-one is taking it. Well possibly Steve has with his 18-1 winner!

Already got one new recruit ready for the main winter jumps competition lined up keen fan based in Towcester. Get the feeling that we could get a bumper entry and break all prize money records - lets all get recruiting. We are still testing the new scoring system for the plate competition and I get the feeling it may need a bit of refinement but still waiting for feedback from Vince and Steve. Must be tough in accountancy :-)

Sunday 15 August 2010

15aug10 very slow

Sunday, very slow just 16 bets and that includes 7 forced losers so only 9 legitimate runners delivering 2 winners usual culprtis Gary D 10-11f and Rod with 3-1.

Excel will be issued tonight

14aug10 big winner

Saturday 25 bets 5 winners and 4 forced losers. Steve picks a great 18-1 winner to zoom up the table into 6th just 46p outside the cash. 4 other winners were for Bert, Ian W, Justin and Neil best price was 5-1 for Bert.

Saturday 14 August 2010

13aug10 single

Very slow day 10 bets plus 5 forced losers and just one winner Mark K at 7-4 so nothing to report really

Thursday 12 August 2010

12aug10 slow

Hi everyone back after a hot holiday in Cyprus. Slow day today assume plenty of you are also on hols, Vince the leader is but he has plenty of headroom before he would go dormy. Talking of which 6 people all went dormy today after failing to have a bet. They are Danny B, Justin, John R, Dan P, Gary C, and Ian W. A long way to go so expect planty of forced losers coming through from now.

Overall 14 bets with 3 winners Alan with the best a nice 8-1 winner to go 4th on +13.29 the other two were Gary D & Gary P both at 2-5!

So in the plate not much happened as apart from the three winners no-one else even scored a point! Gary D moved into 3rd only 9 points behind the leader but with 4 bets in hand.

Thursday 22 July 2010

22jul10 big winner

Geoff D hits a 28-1 winner to move up to 3rd place - good hit. Both the leader and 2nd place also had winners (Vince and Jake) 5-4 and 5-2 respectively. Overall 20 bets and 6 winners.

In the plate Rod's 1-3f got turned over and finished 2nd so he gave up 3 points of his lead to Kevin W. Rod has 69 points from 29 bets and Kevin 67 points also from 29 bets.

At the foot of the table, having broken his duck yesterday, Justin followed up with another winner. Mistake in the report yesterday, we are still waiting for both Ian W and Gary C to get their first winners.

Wednesday 21 July 2010

21jul10 solo

Jusy one solitary winner and his first one of this comp 7-2 for Justin - so that just leaves Ian W waiting for his first winner.

Clearly no change in the tables worth comment

Tuesday 20 July 2010

20jul10 leader wins again

Yes on Monday Vince popped in another 7-1 winner to restore his lead to over 30.00 from the whole field :-(

Reasonable hit rate over the last two days in total there have been 39 bets and 11 winners a few of note Ian C 7-1, Tim 13-2 and Mark K with a double at 5-4 & 2-1.

Jamie P now dormy

Sunday 18 July 2010

CHANGE ON EXCEL

Hi on the excel this week you will notice two new columns "No. of runners" and "test plate scoring" you can ignore these they DO NOT effect this competition.

We are testing a new scoring system so the plate as we think getting the same 5 points for a winner of a three horse race and a 30 runner handicap is not fair this may be introduced in the next comp after we have assessed the scoring for the second half of this comp.

IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT

because of my holiday there is a break in the competition. This week my airline went bust and I lost the flights so I have had to rebook and the dates are a little different so the break needs to change

THE NEW DATES ARE NOW FROM 25TH JULY TO 11TH AUGUST INCLUSIVE

18jul10 poor weekend

So Saturday 18 bets just 4 winners best was me at 8-1 with Rod & jake both picking the same 5-1 winner (I managed to back both of these for a tasty 57-1 double!) other wionner was Neil.

Sunday 12 bets and just 2 winners 2-1 for Roger and another winner for Neil at 5-2.

Plate looks liek this after the weekend
1st Rod - 67 points 26 bets
2nd Kevin W - 60 points 27
3rd Jake - 51 points from 28
4th Gary D - 51 points from 21

Excel on its way - please read notes in email

Friday 16 July 2010

16jul10 rubbish

25 bets and one solitary winner from Gary D 11-4f so goes 3rd in plate and moves positive in the main comp

Come on guys we need to pay attention a pin can do better!

Thursday 15 July 2010

15jul10 better again

Sorry missed yesterday travelling back from USA - nothing much happened anyway

A bit better today 6 winners from 20 bets, Jake had a 4-1 winner to go second and reel in the leader a bit who is now only 14.37 clear

Plate couple of good days for Kevin W has moved him closer in 2nd on 56 points from 25 bets still 6 behind Rod who has had 1 bet fewer. Gary D in joint 3rd on 46 points looks best placed with 6 bets in hand on the leader.

First dormy warning for Jamie who has only 2 spare days left already 52 bets to have in the remaining 54 betting days

Tuesday 13 July 2010

13jul10 a bit better

19 bets 4 winners all pretty small odds, best was Mark D at 4-1. Lee had a winner to go back to 2nd but still 17.29 behind Vince. Jake in 3rd is a further 1.06 behind but as Lee has had 9 fewer bets than both Jake and Vince 2nd probably overstates his true position.

Plate - no change really at the top, slight dark horse is Gary D who has 6 bets in hand on the leader Rod and is only 20 points behind so within striking distance.

Monday 12 July 2010

11jul10 another solo

Sunday, a slow day again, just 11 bets with a solitary winner, Gary P at 7-4 so that has lifted him to 3rd overall in the main comp

In the plate Rod is the first into double figures of winners and now on level bets with Kevin W has pulled 16 points clear.

Excel on it's way

Friday 9 July 2010

08jul10 solo

24 bets and just a single winner for Mark D at 4-1 so no change anywhere really - easy update!!

Thursday 8 July 2010

07jul10 tough day

24 bets only 3 winners Rod with the usual short priced winner, Alan M with 13-2 and Dave F gets off the mark with a very nice 12-1 winner to go back level. Alan's winner lifts him into the money on +10.29 in forth Vince still leads by 20.26.

Rod extended his lead back to 10 points in the plate

Tuesday 6 July 2010

06jul10 good winners

17 bets 5 winners including the leader at 11-4 (Jed and Neil also picked this), Ian C at 12-1, and Jake F at 9-1. So not much change Vince now slightly improved his lead to +20.26 as Jake has gone secong on +11.99.

Plate - Rod hit a 2nd for 2 points so with Kevin W missing the frame he extended his lead to 5 points.

Interestng little side note Barry (Boomer) James has now had 3 last place finishes in a row - never seen that before and they were not even outsiders I sense a new entry from Vince in the Roll of Honour

Monday 5 July 2010

05jul10 standard day

16 bets 3 winners Dan B 7-2, Kevin W 5-4, Mark D 4-1. So not much action on the main leaderboard.

Plate - Kevin W with his winner again today closed in on the leader Rod only 3 points behind him now but 3 more bets - Rod still looking secure at this early stage.

Surprise at the foot of the plate Justin (last comps plate winner on 148 points) has yet to get off the mark after 7 bets!

Sunday 4 July 2010

04jul10 independance day

looks like we were all out celebrating only 9 bets today and just a solitary 8-11 winner for Gary D. Leader had a loser so thats good!

Gary D rose to 4th in the plate

Excel will be sent shortly

Saturday 3 July 2010

03jul10 short winners again

23 bets but only 4 winners and good news for the leader nothing longer that 2-1! Winners were Alan M, Gary D, Kevin W, me.

So Kevin W made up a little ground gaining 4 points as leader Rod could only manage a 3rd today ending his winning streak.

02jul10 leader scores again

20 bets 4 winners best was Vince's 5-2 so he has pulled to over 20.00 clear of the field.
Rod bangs in a 4 timer (odds on again of course) to go to 46 points from 14 bets in the plate and 12 points clear of 2nd Kevin w who has had 3 more bets - very impressive from Rod

Thursday 1 July 2010

01jul10 nice day

22 bets and a very impressive 8 winners - this competition is of a very good standard but winners are mainly low priced winners which is no way for us to reel back in leader (Vince) who is running 17.67 ahead of 2nd place.

Best winner was Mark Orlando at 7-1 with a 9-2 and 4-1 to back that up all the rest were very short priced the shortest you guessed it from Rod at 2-5. He has now had 4winners from the last 6 bets and has lost 2p in the process!

Wednesday 30 June 2010

30jun10 slow day

Only 17 bets today and 3 winners best was 7-2 for me the other 2 were less than 2-1

Rod surging clear in the plate with his long odds on tactic now on 36 points with 6 winners from just 12 bets.

Tuesday 29 June 2010

29jun10 ordinary

Busiest day so far 27 bets and 6 winners - best of those was only 15-8 and the shortest 1-7, so no changes at the top especially as Vince and Lee both had losers.

Bit of a change in the plate with Rod taking over in 1st and Kevin on the same 31 points going 2nd on number of bets countback.

Monday 28 June 2010

28jun10

Quiet day today just one winner Neil at 9-4. So no change at the top since the excel update. Order is 1st Vince +31.00, Lee +13.33, Jake +7.99, Gary P +7.29, and in 5th Roger D +7.25.

Plate - a 3rd for Jed today saw him go to 28 points and just 1 clear of Roger of 27 although he has already had 16 bets 5 more than Jed - slow down Roger! Real leader of the plate is probably Rod who is on 26 from only 10 bets

Thursday 24 June 2010

24jun10 gunna win....

only one result of note to report England 1 Slovenia 0 - oh! and vince got a 5-1 winner today

Tuesday 22 June 2010

22jun10 getting nervous now?

Less than 20 hours to go - ooooh

18 bets 3 winners both new boys Neil & Barry hit the same 6-1 winner with Kevin W the only other winner at 11-10f. So no movement at the top of the main comp, Neil did move positive at +1.25 but that is still only 10th.

New leader in the plate Kevin W takes over on 19 from Roger on the same score on 2nd place count back.

Forgot to say that all players have now had a bet so prizes are confirmed for 33 players as follows:

1st 900, 2nd 300, 3rd 150, 4th 100, 5th 50 & in the plate 1st 100, 2nd 50

Come on England and drop Frank he's crap

Monday 21 June 2010

21jun10 average

13 bets and 3 winners today the best of which was 15-8. Main comp top 2 didn't bet Roger slipped back 1.00 by virtue of a loser.

Plate Roger went top on 18 points only 1 point ahead of jed having had 2 more bets

Sunday 20 June 2010

20jun10 sparkling

A quiet day but another strong >50% return. Just 11 bets but 6 winners, best was from the leader, Vince with a 10-1 winner in a poxy seller at Hereford, but good pick. Others was a 3rd for Roger at 5-1 to move him to 3rd overall, Lee held on to 2nd by 50p by virtue of a no bet.

Jed & Roger take over at the top of the plate on 17 points with Rod & Jake in joint 3rd on 15

Saturday 19 June 2010

19jun10 woeful & pathetic

I mean 24 bets and 1 winner!! Only one winner and that an 8-11f winner from Gary D.

No further commentary required no change on either leaderboard!

18jun10 "woeful", "pathetic"

So if you carry on doing the same thing and picking the same set of players then don't be surprised you get the result - drop some of these big names bring anyone else in how can they do any worse?

In a slight aside from last night 5 good winners yesterday Pat Q treadwell @ 14-1, Lee, Ken J, Mark K all got Memory at 15-2 & Roger D at 7-2f

So Vince on +16.00 is now only 2.00 clear of Lee in 2nd - no change in plate

Friday 18 June 2010

17jun10 big winner

24 bets 5 winners and a few good ones! Vince 20-1 and Gary P and Roger Dore (new boy) both had 9-1 winners. So all change at the top Vince +17.00 in first, Gary P +8.00 2nd, 3rd Lee +6.50, 4th Roger +5.00 and last money position 5th is me at +4.50.

Note Danny B has rejoined and had his first bet yesterday so we are now up to 33 players

Plate 15 points and joint leader Rod 3 wins from 4 bets and Jake 3 wins from 5 bets

Wednesday 16 June 2010

16jun10 back to normal

19 bets 3 winners Jake, Jed, and Ricky P, with his first bet. The best was Ricky at 9-2 to go straight into 3rd spot behind Lee +7.50 and me +5.50.

Jake with 3 winners in a row and from 4 bets is top of the plate but only 4th on +3.24 in the main comp

Tuesday 15 June 2010

15jun10 strong again

20 bets 6 winners Lee posted a 17-2 winner at Royal Ascot to go top 1.00 ahead of me with 1 bet less.

In the plate Rod hit a double and is now 2 from 2 on 10 points with Kevin D and Jake F also on 10 points but from 3 bets.

First time Kevin D has ever made it to the blog as I only ever discuss the leaders!!

6 still left to have their first play

Monday 14 June 2010

14jun10 a fine effort

so just 15 bets today but 8 winners - I'm not sure we have ever had a sucess rate of >50% in a day before! Best winner was Tim at 9-2 followed by Steve at 4-1 other all shorter, obviously!

So that still leaves me in the lead in the main comp +7.50 and Tim 2nd +3.50. Mark Kelly takes over at this very early stage on 7 points in the plate with just 9 of us tied on 5 points in 2nd!

9 left to have their first bets

Sunday 13 June 2010

13jun10 slow day

just 9 bets with Mark Kelly providing the only winner at 4-1.

Excel will be sent out tonight

day 1 unusual table

Just one winner and that was me! 17-2 so a very rare sight indeed me top of plate and main comp - read em and weep!

Saturday 12 June 2010

Excel will be sent out monday morning

15 May

No big movers, although bert had a 2nd at 20-1 by a neck !!

Saturday 15 May 2010

14may10 ding dong

Very exciting at the top, now where were we, Jo stormed to the top on Tuesday and then followed up on Thursday with an 11/1 shot in the first race. So it looked all over but Pat responded banging in an 16-1 winner Thursday evening and following up Friday with a 7-1 shot to retake the lead!!

Another very notable winner was the 40-1 winner for Bert P that lifted him from near the botton to 4th, and in the cash

The full top 5 are

1. +38.45 54 bets Pat
2. +35.00 56 bets Jo
3. +16.82 56 bets Ricky P
4. +15.75 54 bets Bert P
5. +11.50 53 bets Dave F (Dormy)

Plate is also exciting Kevin has finished his tactical no betting, to allow the others to catch up, and that pretty much worked well as he is only 5 behind the leader with a bet in hand. The top 3 reads

1. 123 points 55 bets Justin
2. 121 points 55 bets Howard
3. 118 points 54 bets Kevin W

Vince takes over from today - not sure if he will keep the blog going

Tuesday 11 May 2010

11may10 high drama

and not just at Westminster!

Jo H hit a 66-1 winner today (it fully counts as we are in the final 20 bets - new rule doesn't apply) and that, of course, rockets her from -42 and nearly bottom to + 25 and top clear by 7.18. Lucky Breeze was horse and it sure was only her 3rd winner great shot Jo.

4 other winners from 33 bets Tim, Lee, Gary D and Ian W.

In plate joint leaders now on 116 are Justin & Howard in that order on 2nd countbacks

Monday 10 May 2010

10may10 big day

36 bets and a 2nd best total of the comp 7 winners. So a lot to report:

RICKY TAKES THE LEAD - so after Pat got his 33-1 shot on 6th April to lead ever since Ricky has finally clawed his way to the top with a small 13/8 winner today to go 1.37 ahead having had 4 more bets so pretty strong. Dave F also hit a decent 4/1 winner today to put himself right in the mix in 3rd only 95p behind Pat in 2nd (Dave is dormy so 6 fewer bets than Ricky). The other winners were short prices.

Also a very good day for Kevin W in the plate no bet again for him today as he waits for the field to catch up but both the two above him picked the same horse and it missed the frame at 15/8f.

09may10 cashed

Hi back from the shootout tourney on sunday 8th and in the cash $450 so not a wasted trip, final table was top 7. I missed that when I called a re-raise allin with my A7s against his K9s and he hit a K!! Shit happens but having said that I'm only a 57% favourite to win that.

Back to the comp 33 bets (inc. 9 dormy losses) only 3 winners. I had the best at only 7-2 with Justin at 4-9 and the most significant was Ricky who had a 3-1 winner to go to +16.57 only 88p behind the leader - Ricky has had 4 more bets so general convention is that means he is really ahead. Dave F continues to hold 3rd

Plate is equally tight top 3 have 115, 114, 113 that is Howard, Justin, & Kevin W respectively

Excel on it's way

Sunday 9 May 2010

08may10 single

33 bets and just one winner Dave F at 11-4 so that moves him into 3rd less than 6.00 behind the leader and only 1.08 off of 2nd place - good move Dave

Plate a 2nd for Howard takes him 1 point into the lead 3 bets in hand - looking good for him there and he's 4th in the main comp

Back to the touney for todays event another 12 hours play hopefully

07may10 better

Bit late sorry, I'm away at a poker tourney in London (got knocked out in 50th - no cash late last night :-(

Friday 36 bets 6 winners best one was Bert at 7-1 but he was well off the pace all the rest were < 2-1 so no major moves

Plate Kevin had a rest day but unfortunately the 2nd and 3rd both had winners so it reads:

Kevin W 113 - 53 bets
Howard 112 - 49 bets
Justin 109 - 50 bets

Thursday 6 May 2010

06may10 election day

too excited by the imminent Tory outright victory by a margin of 12 that will happen tonight to give a full update!

33 bets 2 winners and 5 last places

Wednesday 5 May 2010

05may10 2 days

Sorry to miss a day and do two in one but been busy

Tuesday a bit better 7 winners from 33 bets the best were Alan 5-1, Ian C 16-1, & Ian W 8-1

Wednesday 4 winners including three nice winners Lee & Billy both 7-1 and Ken Jones best with 9-1. That moves Ken into 4th 10.90 behind the leader.

Kevin w position at the top of the plate has improved he is now 6 points clear of 2nd having had 5 nore bets and 9 points clear of Justin in 3rd who also has had 5 bets fewer

Monday 3 May 2010

03may10 just 2 again

Another pathetic effort from us again just 2 winners from 28 at least one of them was a decent price 14-1 for Tim that rocketed him up to 9th only 3.13 from 5th place and cash. The only other winner was Gary P, (again that's 4 from the last 6), and he has now drawn level on 97 points with Justin in 3rd in the plate, 2 more bets than Justin though.

Two more people went dormy today John R and Mark D

Update excel will be sent later

Sunday 2 May 2010

ODDS RESTRICTION LIFTED

Just to confirm the rule introduced for this comp that no prices above 33-1 score is now removed as everyone has 20 or fewer bets to go. FYI - rule did not apply as no-one hit a large winner!

02may10 back from USA

sorry for the gap been travelling back. Well we have not missed anything in the 102 bets on Friday, Saturday & Sunday we have achieved between us only 5 winners and a completely blank day on saturday!! so as you can imagine no real movement in any of the lists. Leader Pat Q is drifing back slowly to the pack now only 4.50 ahead of Ricky P who sits 2nd and Dave F. a further 4.45 behind Ricky.

Plate Kevin W remains 1 point ahead of Howard in the plate but only on sufference I think as he has had 5 more bets than Howard

Wednesday 28 April 2010

28apr10 Pete's back

32 bets 5 winners including Pete with the best winner of the day at 8-1. Other winners were Billy, Gary P, and both Ians. Kevin W retakes top spot in the plate by virtue of another 2nd today. 99 points from 47 bets but Howard is only 1 point behind with 5 in hand.

Dave Fifield went dormy today.

27apr10 lee starts

Two days in one here

Monday - 32 bets only 3 winners, all short priced and it was the 3 leaders in the plate who all got a winner each, nothing else to say!

Star of Tuesday was Lee who bagged a 16-1 winner but it might be too little to late as that was only his 3rd winner and he is dormy, so tough to catch leader from -6.50 but at least he is mid table now (Leader is +25.45). Other winners were Gary C, Jamie P, and Steve.

Saturday 24 April 2010

24apr10 last gasp winner

So with the last bet of the day Dave Fifield hits his second winner in as many days but this time at 20-1, brill. Shoots him up from nearly bottom 2 days ago to +5.50 and in 11th place. Nose bleed teritory for Dave :-) 4 other winners including another good one for Geoff Dighton to follow up yesterday's 14-1 shot with an 11-1 winner today to go 6th 24p behind the first place that pays on + 9.25.

Also a bit of movement on the plate after Howard picked up a winner to go to 93 points and move from 3rd to 1st - 3 bets fewer than Kevin W and 3 points more.

Just an update on guys who are dormy these are - Mark K, Ian W, Lee, George C, Martin L, Jed, Andy Q, Pete L, Kevin D, Dan B, Val, & Martin B. Also with just one spare day left are Dave F, Gary D, Dan P, John R.

Friday 23 April 2010

23apr10 big winner alert

Well back to the standard 4 winners between us from 29 bets the prize one of which was Geoff D at 14-1 well done. Ricky also managed a nice 4-1 winner to go clear in 2nd place just 7.50 behind Pat, the leader, and Ricky has had 5 more bets. Pat had a no bets day.

Plate Ricky again the only mover near the top now 4th on 82 points but higher number of bets than all those above him count against

Thursday 22 April 2010

22apr10 7up

29 bets 7 winners first time for 12 days that we have managed to get more than 4 winners. Best winner was 15-2 for Jo H that saw her saw from 39th to 37th :-). I managed to clock a 3rd winner in a row to move to a positive position for the first time in this comp.

Bit of action in the plate 1st on 90 is Kevin W (from 43 bets), 2nd Justin 88 (39), 3rd Howard 88 (39).

Wednesday 21 April 2010

21apr10 4 up again

Another 4 winner day from 27 bets 10-3, 9-2, 6-1, 9-2 for Gary D, Gary P, me and Jed respectively. So pushed Gary P well into contention for cash on +13.35 in 3rd place just 15.10 behind the leader.

Pat Q ended the short priced winner hunt and reverted to a 12-1 selection which fell.

Tuesday 20 April 2010

20apr10 Vince warning

Vinny

After today you only have 5 spare bets left and we don't have a volcano exceptions rule sorry.

If going to Atlanta helps your cause (not sure how) but anyway let me know

M

20apr10 only two

27 bets and only two winners Ken Jones 5-1 amd Pat the leader at 1-5!!

Well I think that confirms what I thought yesterday and a radical change in tactics from the leader, odd on all the way and come and get me. so from Pat's POV then a good start he has gained a further 1.20 today on the chasing pack.

All quiet again on the plate front well leader score a single but so what :-)

19apr10 big winner #2

Mark D hits the leader board moving to +12.00 and 4th place after hitting an 18-1 winner today at Ponty. Ricky also picked a winner to close the gap in 2nd place to 11.30.

Notieable new and changed tactic today from the leader Pat Q Jnr. - obviously fed up with nice priced losers he switched to odds on and hit a 2-9 winner. We will see if this is a one off or not. Gary P was the only other winner so that was 4 from 30 again.

Plate is almost becalmed with nothing to report.

Sunday 18 April 2010

18apr10 big winner

excel will be sent out tonight - slow day 22 bets but 7 of those were forced losers!
4 winners including Jake Fifield with a cracking 16-1 winner to zoom to +16.00 and overall 3rd place - read em and weep Dave eh! Other winners were me 2-1, Big Al and Bert (same 11-4 winner).

So a decent week for the chasing pack as Pat, the leader, has recorded 6 straight losers this week and the 2nd place guys Ricky & Jake are both around 12.00 behind on +16.57 and 16.00 respectively.

The 9 on dormy are now Lee & George Constable, Andy Q, Pete, Kevin D, Dan B, Jed, Val & Martin B.

Plate - Kevin W has now moved to within 2 points of Howard in 2nd but has had 4 more bets

18apr10 volcano update

Vince stuck in CA and I can't leave to go to Atlanta so communications stay as is until further notice

17apr10 a bit better

30 bets and 4 winners but some good ones although mainly for guys off the pace. Namely Dave F 11-2 now -14.50 and Geoff D 14-1 now -11.75 Jed and Jamie were the other winners. Jamie was lifted to +4.88 and into 7th place which was the only top 10 action.

Plate very quiet none of the leader picking up many winners top three are

Howard 87 from 37
Kevin 83 from 40
Justin 80 from 35

Saturday 17 April 2010

Thursday 15 April 2010

14apr10 only two

30 bets and only two winner despite loads of favourites obliging! Best was Tim with a 14-1 winner which only lifted him to 15th place. Ricky P was the only other sucess but at 7-1 that has lifted him into a clear 2nd place on +18.57 just 13.46 behind the leader - well not really just eh!

Plate pretty much unaltered

FYI in the last 3 days we have seen 90 bets but just 9 winners 10% hit rate and we are supposed to know what we are doing - can only say must try harder

Wednesday 14 April 2010

14apr10 quiet day

33 bets 3 winners Jake hits the snake at 15-2 to move to +2.00 other winners were Mark Nutting and Ian C.

Nothing else!

Tuesday 13 April 2010

13apr10 tight for 2nd

27 bets 4 winners the best and of most significance was Mark Kelly at 11-2 that pushed him up into the money in 4th. Only 34p covers 2nd, 3rd, 4th & 5th places as follows:
Justin +12.91 (33 bets)
Howard +12.86 (34)
Mark K + 12.58 (24)
Ricky P +12.57 (37)

Plate no real change

Monday 12 April 2010

12apr10 Windsor back

28 bets 4 winners, nice little competitive bunch below the leader with 4 guys between +13.91 and +11.12 they are Justin, Howard, Ricky & Gary P. Howard hit a 7-1 shot today and Gary a 9-2 shot to both get into that mix.

Plate - Howard consolidates the lead now +7 points with 3 in hand.

Kevin D now dormy after his selection was a non-runner today.

Sunday 11 April 2010

11apr10 sunday update

21 bets only three winners so no major changes. Howard takes over at the top of the plate from Kevin W on 82, 2 ahead and with three bets in hand. Justin 3rd 8 off the leader 2 bets in hand.

Pat Q's overall lead trimmed a little as Justin had a winner so now only 20.12!

Saturday 10 April 2010

10apr10 grand day

33 bets and 7 winners 3 people picked that national winner (Gary C, Jamie P, and Mark D) and Gary P picked an 11-1 winner so some good progress in the group beow the two leaders.

Andy Quinn is now dormy and had his first forced loser.

Friday 9 April 2010

09apr10 bad day

29 bets just 2 winners Steve backed at Kempton (what! he never goes to the flat for his nap - must have a tip and not told his mates) still a 5-1 winner, the best of the day. The only other winner was Dan P at 7-2 but as they were both off the pace no change at the top of either comp.

don't forget if you are napping in the national all odds over 33-1 will only score +33.00

I'll be on the dirt at Kempton!

08apr10 late update

29 bets 5 winners - good day for Justin who's 5-2 winner moved him into 3rd in the plate and 2nd in the main comp on +15.91 and 20.12 behind the leader. Best winner was Dan P with a 7-1 shot which lifted him to just -3.00 although that is only 13th

A non-runner for Andy Quinn meant he is now dormy.

Only mug to select Imperial was me! - that's it no more races where things can fall over :-)

Jo - thanks for joining, and you are still bottom - 26.50 and 69.53 behind the leader

Now who's next to be nagged into joining - Vince I think, especially as he is on holiday!

Wednesday 7 April 2010

07apr10 busy day

busiest day of the comp so far with 30 bets (inc. the three losers for the guys who are dormy) with 5 winners 9-2 being the longest price (twice). So no major changes Mark Kelly moved into the cash in 5th on +9.08.

Small change at the top of the plate with Howard moving above Rod and to within 5 points of Kevin W with 3 bets in hand.

8 followers now not great but moving up lets get some more players looking at this - SPREAD THE WORD!

06apr10 update

25 bets 5 winners but only one story in town. Pat Quinn now 23.62 clear of 2nd who is now Justin after his winner yesterday. Gary P notches up 4 in a row to move into the top 10 on -0.38.

Two others deserve a mention in distaches Mark Kelly after a 7-1 winner moves into 7th on +4.58 and Ken Jones hit a 9-1 winner to go +9.30 and just into the money in 5th

Plate no change

Tuesday 6 April 2010

06apr10 big winner

Pat Quinn Junior just hit a 33-1 winner Lawgiver at Wetherby (3.20) as he was already +5.03 he now goes well clear of the field on +38.03.

full update later after all results in

Monday 5 April 2010

05apr10 bumper winners

Hi

18 bets and 8 winners today Ken Jones had the best at 6-1 to go > 0.00 in 9th place, the others were all reasonably short. So Justin stays top on +13.03 but Kevin W goes 2nd only 1.85 back and Ricky now 3rd only 2.46 back from the leader.

Plate stays as was both leaders had winners Kevin W and Rod 80 and 70 points respectively both from 32 bets Howard far from out of it also on 70 but with 3 bets in hand.

Sunday 4 April 2010

04apr10 quiet day

just 15 bets today but a healthy 5 winners best was Kevin W with 3-1 to consolidate his 3rd place and to go into a clear lead in the plate - 10 points clear of Rod in 2nd (level bets). Geoff Dighton got of the mark.

Martin & Val continue to have forced losers and Pete Long only has 1 spare day left and Lee only 2 left which are both very tight given there are 48 days to go!

Still they have all paid or are good for it so who cares :-)

Saturday 3 April 2010

03apr10 I'm back

Hi

Now I have taken over the admin I can do this without waiting for a file from Vince that never arrives!

Saturday 27 bets only 3 winners best was Alan Mabb with 12-1 shot that rocketed him from 19th to 6th place on +4.25 and just outside the money. Leader is Justin on +13.03 and 2nd Ricky on +10.57.

So all to still play for no-one has pulled away

Plate sees Kevin W leading as per usual but 2nd & 3rd Howard & Justin have games in hand

Monday 1 March 2010

01mar10 early leader

Vince has sent out first meaningful update just Jed, Martin B, and Val left to have a bet but as Val & Jed have paid they are definite runners so Martin is our only doubtful.

The top ten are all not down and have placed bets so strong start Ricky at +21.50 is 13.25 clear in first place. Kevin Wood leads the plate on 20 points with Justin & Mark K 3 points behind and a game in hand.

Don't forget our sponsors for all your house building needs!

Thursday 25 February 2010

24feb10 and are we

Wow great day everyone another 7 winners from the 24 players but what prices.
Gary P 11-2, justin 2-1, kevin W 5-4 and now 3 from 3, Mark D 7-1, Pat Quinn jnr 7-1, Vince 11-10

But Ricky P hit a 22-1 winner :-(

27 players have now had at least 1 bet - 13 still to start

MJE

Tuesday 23 February 2010

23feb10 and running

16 bets today and a very impressive 7 winners. Kevin goes 2 for 2 and stays top while Vince and Ian W both pick up their first winners at 2-1 for joint 2nd. I was up against Vince and got turned over, the gloating calls will be hard to bear.

18 players have bet so far and target entry total is 40 but a couple still doubtful Peter Long has been impossible to raise - must be a hot property market again in Oxford - MJE

Monday 22 February 2010

22feb10 we're off

Sunday no racing so a complete blank Monday also a slow start 10 bets one winner Kevin Woods 9-4 takes gets the ideal start. Five 2nds and one 3rd completed the scoring.

Tuesday 9 February 2010

NEW COMP ALERT

Next comp starts 21st February 2010 and finishes at Goodwood on Saturday 22nd May 2010

We have a new experimental law variation ELV that we are testing this time all winning odds for the first 2/3rds of the comp will be restricted to a maximum of 33-1 no matter what the actual starting price. This is to keep the competion 'open' for the maximum period. The restriction is removed for the final 20 bets to enable those a long way behind a chance to fluke a winner like Vince and win
